Hey
I bought my galaxy s couple of months ago. My phone is getting overheated while charging. The temp goes over 56 C while charging. I recently did voodoo lagfix. Is my overheating issue due to this or is it normal for temp to reach this high?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
It is completely normal. All HTC and Samsung Android devices get hot under the collar when they are getting charged. As far as I am aware, all electronic devices with long life battery get hot when they get charged.
Download SGS Tools from the market, click apply script, then click clean_thumb_db.txt
Also, download setCPU, set your lowest clock speed to 100 with a conservative setting.
That may help a bit.
Dont charge ur through usb . It get unbelievably hot

Thanks guys I'll check these out

@OP,
Don't worry, there is a built in safety mechanism that will stop charging when it reached the limit. The limit is 60 deg Celsius, btw.

I have voodoo lagfix and now I'm charging via USB my temp is just 38 C with wifi/sync on.
Ya I did lagfix n now temp never goes over 50.

I've seen that advice many places, including when i just installed HC's Speedmod Kernel, but when i download SGS tools (SGS Toolbox, i had SGS tools some time ago, but now it's gone, but Toolbox have the same icon, så i THINK it's the same) there's no "Apply Script" option, can i download it from some site?.. :O
I downloaded my firmware from romkitchen.org. There u can get sgs toolbox. U could also make ur own custom from there.

Hi Bro,
2 days ago i try to root my tabs then install battery booster, and now i'm never got this issue again, but i don't know after today, so let's monitoring.
BR
its been 2 days since i also install battery booster, the battery issue is gone. but now i am wondering is this the best solution using an apk for this issue, or maybe i should use my warranty card from samsung to get a new battery instead...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I reset my battery history using the clock work mod recovery, since then I havent had this problem.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App

Guys, my sister has had her I9000 for a good few months now and everything was fine until recently.
She phoned me (knowing I like my phones) saying her battery life had become really poor over a couple days.
So I took the phone off her and updated it with Kies, so now it's running the latest Kies Gingerbread for that phone. I should point out it is not rooted, completely stock.
I noticed some crummy looking app's like Android Anti-Virus and Task Killer so removed them hoping one of them was acting the goat.......everything seemed to be going good until yesterday and she charged the phone all night until 8am and when it came to around 2pm the phone was flashing up with low battery alert. She said she had used twitter a little and browsed on the internet a while.
I have told her to get CPU Spy and look if the phone is going into deep sleep, yesterday it had 0% deep sleep and today it is saying 70% deep sleep even though the battery only lasted 6 hours before low battery warning...
Any ideas what I can do to track down where the problem is? Would she see better battery with ICS or a custom GB ROM?
Mine did this on stock ROM luckily mine lagged when I went into battery use it was Samsung app push update service or something like that but thanks to the lag it showed sleep lock before it shower that service I uninstalled then it could go back into deep sleep

Can I uninstall the Samsung app without root?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
Yes if its the one I think it is, could you post a screen shot of the battery usage up? Just to be sure?

it will root your device and install clockwork mod, should fix the battery issues though. Try flashing the CF root kernel via odin. Theres a tutorial in the thread.
After the odin flash, you can use titanium app for remove apps or system apps unnecessary
Hi fellas,
Im just wondering is there any fix on 4.0.4?
I mean the battery issues and overheated device? Cuz im thinking of rooting my device in the end to just giving it a try. But it will void the warrany for sure. So, just wanna know if any of ya all just happen to know if thers any fix coming out real soon. So that i can wait.
It seems that my device is now consider as useless piece of s...t just wondering why would i want to use this so called smartphone if i cant use live wallpaper, push email, screen brightness for my luvly super amoled screen and so on if it drains the battery like thirsty camel. It just a thought tho.... U guy might be thinking the same. So, i did all the the things like calibrating the batt, installed cpuspy, take out the batt on plane mode trick and so on.. , yes it did help the device to sleep. But it drains when im using it for 3 hrs with a lil bit of surfing, emails and sketching .it just doesnt make any sense at all.
Dont you guy think that samsung is trying to lure us to change to s3? Or note 2? Well it did cross my mind. Lol. i might not consider samsung in the near future. I guess, htc x one is my choice cuz it offers 6hrs batt. Hehehe

dude battery life with screen on in clean condition, without fancy stuff is only 3.5 hours. Some with other kernels/roms have reported 4 or even 5 hours, but that's really max
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
It is a power hungry phone,
Large screen - If you've got your brightness all the way up will use more power
Live Wallpaper - Pretty - Battery drainer
Games - Power hungry
etc
As mentioned - you cannot expect to use a phone like this for 8/9/10 hours with constant use, At 3 hours constant use, screen on, probs wi-fi / data, Gaming, listening to music.. you will see the battery drain quicker..
Could alsways pick up a one of those larger Mugen Power Batteries / second stock battery if your usage demands it... I've got two stock batteries but the actual amount of times I've need to call on the backup one is rare, I keep it handy as both me and my girlfriend have GNote's.

Thx for replying guys,
Maybe i left something earlier on. 3 hrs of moderate usage..as in moderate guys. Ddnt hppn to me on gb. I had at least 5 hrs max on gb without turning off thos fancy stuffs.Thats the main issue. So ics is the culprit.

Have you used BetterBatteryStats to see what's happening in the background? Maybe you've a rogue app installed....

Well then there are ways to analyse, as posted above for abnomal battery drain in deepsleep, when not using phone. That is one option.
Best guess is to do a full clean install of 404 by going to gb through pc odin, root it, get on cwm recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache, backup efs, save pictures on computer, backup messages with app from play, sync contacts to gmail and then backbin recovery format everything in mounts, except efs, ofcourse.
Then phone wont boot, but is truly squicky clean. Then go into download mode and flash throught oc odin a stock 404 rom.
Do not recover apps/data, just manually redownload them.
Dont ever on unsafe kernel from stock ics do these steps. EVER!
Then download cwm. zip which is temp and flash speedmod k3-11 from recovery. I bet your battery life will improve and you will get 4 hours screen on time. Not as good as on gb,but still better then now
there are threads for every single step here, start in dr ketans thread in sticky section of development. Then tool thread of dr ketan in general section.
disclaimer: you can and will lose data and possibly warrantee

Thanks bazz,
Haha its me again complaining bout the batt in
Here. Well i did all the tricks from the past thread. Well it worked as in the device went to sleep like a baby. But when i wakes up, only god knows. But yeah, thnx for the info again, but thats the problem bazz, i just need to know bout the fix. Tried to call samsung support but they are not too sure bout it. Cuz im willing to wait for the fix but not too long. Currently i hv dis dilemma of maybe selling the phone with stock rom, and buy another phone
or rooting this phone which im not too sure how to go about.

Use the BetterBatteryStats to see what`s going on behind and CPU spy to see what is the Mhz you Note is at.
On 4.0.3 ICS I find my battery lasts longer than on GB.. Strange!
i dont have problems on 4.0.4 with draining or heating...
maybe there is some app .... e-mail push 5 min......
Same here. GNote with ICS 4.0.3 has a worse battery life compared to GB, not to mentioned occasional freeze and unresponsive screen, also broken wifi-direct. Pretty disappointed with Samsung in the software department. Jelly Bean was already out and OTA for ICS 4.0.4 for both my GNote and GTab 7.7 not yet available in my country. Come on Samsung, these products is a premium products, pls provide a premium software update. Pfffttt...

If you think your battery life used to be so much better with gb why don't you go back to gb? No obligation to use ics. I use 4.0.4 with goku kernel and battery life is at least as good as it was under gb. 4 - 5 hours of usage, lasts a full working day.

just try clean install already and be amazed
at own risk

Okay, so ive done quite lots of tricky stuff before, and guess what.. I hv found the solution for now.I hope...
1.Charge battery with phone turned on until galaxy is fully charged
2.UnplugTurn off phone and charge for one hour
3.UnplugTurn galaxy on, wait 3 minutesTurn off phone and charge for one hour
4.Reboot
And now my batt is coming back to its normal performance... I get around 11hrs 45 min on standby and at least 6hrs of moderate usage.... Thank god. Hopefully it will last..
( on stock rom )

I feel like having the same autonomy like GB since I went on 404.
lol email push 5 min, dont think you know push technology...
Anyways, those six hours is not with screen on all the time.
Doing the steps I mentioned however will force a full clean install. Then test without restoring apps battery, you will be amazed. Then install in batches or one by bone to eliminate possible culprit that impacts battery life.
Perhaps even better to go to samsung/shop where you bought and ask them to fix it If it is battery they will catch it and replace Less risk for you

Obtained this info from another thread:
about the alarm_rtc wakelock;
install terminal emulator from market and type these commands:
- su ( followed by ENTER )
- dumpsys alarm ( followed by ENTER )
it will dump some info on your screen
scroll upwards a bit and search for 'Alarm Stats'
here you can find the processes that keep your phone from deep sleep

stock kernel tends to act like that.
root and install custom kernel and it will not drain battery so much (and even improve responsiveness in the process )
when I had stock kernel my phone lasted like 20hours - with thunderzap it is about double battery life for me
Even I am facing similar issue after updating. The phone lags little bit not much but the battery is draining quickly. Today when I unplugged the charger the battery was full. And right now it is 52%. The usage is that I did net surfing and one call and watched few videos on youtube. And in gingerbread the battery was 89% with same usage. So experts please help.

Enter recovery mode. Factory reset. Wipe cache too. This should solve the problem provided that you haven't done it yet. If problem persist, root, install custom kernel and rom. Search the threads there are many guides made. Post any problem in that thread.
Hope this helps.

Well I suggest the one on my signature. One of the most stable lag free rom.
