I rebooted my Samsung Galaxy S I9000 today and got a bootloop.
(I wasn't messing with firmare or smth, it was low on memory and clearing doesn't help so I decided to reboot it)
When I try to enter recovery mode I am getting the same bootloop.
The only thing that I can do is to enter download mode.
But no driver is working for me so Odin can't see the phone.
The firmware is Andy Thomson's ICS (version prior to 2.8.10, one ore two earlier, I can't remember precisely) with Mackay kernel.
I've tried countless number of drivers on Win7 х64 and XP 32 and it's still "Unknown device".
I've tried Samsung drivers extracted from KIES (including latest 1.5.9.0)
I found some hacked versions that said to be specially modified for win7-64 and ICS roms
I tried to extract drives from Heimdall - no luck with that too
I installed the Android SDK and USB drivers from it
All of above didn't help
Any suggestions?

Holding power button without battery solved my problem with non-detecting device. When I connected it to computer, the drivers were automatically installed and now Odin can see my phone. (But without picture and the com port is on yellow background if it means something) That's at least something, thanks!
But flashing pit or kernel or pit with kernel (as in your instructions about bootloops) doesn't help. I still got a bootloop and the picture on boot is still from Mackay kernel despite i've flashed it with semaphore and didn't see any errors in Odin while flashing.
Still cant get to recovery mode (tried different combinations from your faq)

Thanks, but I've already reflashed stock and Jelly Bean after that. Everything's ok now except that I hoped to solve it less radically.

Never Flash Phone with low Battery Charge, use external charger to charge Battery First to full, if possible
First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card....
thanks 4 your fast reply!

Did that already, and will do that before i flash again.
Since i don't have an external charger, and no device where my battery would fit in, do u know what likely it is, that my battery is charging up?

it depends on what is causing the bootloop, If the bootloader is the problem, than it may not charge your phone . so try to power down and try charging, see if you get charging screen on your phone, when phone is "OFF"
Try not to take the risk of flashing with a low battery charge as , nothing would work, if you lose power when flashing botloader or when booting ..see My Android Solutions, scroll down

HELP!!!
Im stuck on boot logo and I cannot flash anything on PC Odin. And I cannot access Recovery Mode (Neither CWM or system recovery). I can only go into Download Mode.
I was on CheckRom NoteHD and I used the kitchen app to download franco kernel and one of the mods (Use camera flash below 15% to be precise) and as soon as I installed, it didn't let me boot back into Checkrom!!! And Now im stuck on boot logo no matter how hard I try. I did try flashing the wipe ROM (Pre-rooted Open Europe 2.3.6 LC1), I also tried flashing the CF-Root file but still no luck. PC Odin says failed in between the process!!
Please Help me guys.. I don't know what really went wrong as I have installed stuff from the KitchenPro App before.
What can I do now?
Thanks

First this:Turn off the device and pull the battery, wait for 30 seconds and try to get in recovery mode, if that works reflash CheckRom. If that doesn`t work pull the battery again and get in downloadmode and connect to the pc and see if Odin recognizes the phone. If it does flash any stock rom.

I tried the exact same thing you mentioned and no, it doesn't go into recovery mode. and yes, it does go into download mode but it fails to flash. I tried 2-3 different firmware versions of 2.3.6, 4.0.3 and I'm pretty sure the downloaded files aren't corrupt!! I don't know what to do...
The only thing working is getting to download mode but then thats no point since I can't flash any ROM.

There are threads about reviving recovery i think on xda, haven`t needed them so far but look around and you will find them. If you can`t restore recovery or downloadmode then it`s off to the shop i guess

"Battery Too Low, Can't Download"
Now there's another problem.
Not only I Can't flash anything, I can't even get to Download Mode because the battery is low.
When I press the Vol Down + Power + Home key, I get "Low Battery, Can't Download" in red font.
I left my phone on charge through the AC port and I had no idea it wouldn't charge. The only thing was that my phone was exteremly hot but still with zero battery. I even tried plugging the phone through the USB cable but still no luck.
I removed battery for few minutes upto 30 mins and put it back in and plugged in the charger but all I see is the empty battery symbol keeps flashing every 5 seconds.
Is there any way I can charge my battery and get back to download mode so I could try flashing the stock kernel to get past the boot screen? I even tried plugging in the USB jig that I used with my SGSII previously, but it was of no use as well.
Please Help!!!
your only option is to use a universal charger external, or borrow another note to put your battery in.
once your battery is full you can carry on the previous steps
good luck

Hey,
I managed to buy an external charger and I was able to go to Download Mode again.
After that I tried to flash stock kernel (stockKernelXXLA4.tar) And Odin said "Pass".
After that I was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Logo again.
I'm not sure what to do now!!
Please help.
Is there anything else that I could flash?
Even though I flashed a stock kernel, I still see a yellow exclamation mark..
PLEASE HELP, I NEED MY NOTE TO COME BACK TO LIFE!
Sorted this mess out!!!
I flashed "N7000JPLPD_N7000OJPLP7_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar" And the phone now works!!!
Stock kernels didn't do the work for me, but the official ICS release did.
Thanks to all that contributed in the thread.

it only took me 5-8 minutes...
I had Android 4.0.3 (IceCream Sandwich) on my Galaxy S GT-I9000B (I did install it through Odin, nothing went wrong), but is was laggish (too much for it to handle, I think) and after a few months, I decided to roll it back to 2.3.3 (Gingerbread).
I started the process to install the firmware through Odin3 v1.85 - the file I download (from sammobile.com/firmware, had only one file that I used on the PDA space.
Odin recognized my phone and I started to install it, but after a while my phone was stuck on the downloading screen (2 hours of installation, I tought that something went wrong).
I then turned my phone off to try and install again, but when I turned it on, there were a Phone - exclamation mark - Computer Symbol.
I can get it to dowlonad mode (Volume Down+Home+Power), but when I plug it to the pc, it says "unknown device" and it can't find drivers for it.
I think I have the latest drivers from Samsung (I had from Kies and I re-downloaded a file somewhere from this forum named SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1_5_6_0.exe).
It appears that since windows can't install the drivers, Odin doesn't recognize the device - it was recognizing it before, when I was installing the firmware.
Now I'm stuck - I tried anything I saw in this forum and in other places - I did even pray for a miracle, but it didn't work
I know that there must be a way, but I don't know how.
Before I forget, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
If you can get it in download mode everything should be fine, I've had a problem like this, my pc couldn't see the phone in download no matter what. Try to use another USB port, better another PC. Also I've heard that x64 doesn't get along well with Odin. If possible you can try Linux and Heimdall, after all Android is Linux too.

Ok, k4Z3666, has given you a starting point...the phone is still in download mode but without a booting ROM, so its OK, the problem is your PC, USB cable or USB port. If you want to be quick about it, just try on a lap top..if not a simple Reboot of PC ( after removing power cord) and Phone (after a battery Pull), and a switch to a different USB port at the back of PC can solve this for some...for other solutions try these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 anything else you may need can be found on My Android collections., link below

I tried other USB Ports and also rebooting. It was working just fine - it seems like a driver problem to me.
My notebook is dead, but I'll try using someone else computer.
Does Odin runs in Windows XP? I might try it in my virtual box - I doubt that it will work, but it is the best thing I have to do untill tomorrow.
I got it working in my mother's notebook - should I try something different? I only have the PDA, should I try a PIT?
I don't know what those do, but I read somewhere that PIT is used to recover bricked phones.
EDIT: I installed only the PDA, it worked fine on the 2nd time (first time, it got stuck but I could make it work changing the usb port and cable).
Now it is on loop - it repeats the samsung logo over and over again. Any ideas now?

Yep if u want to back to stock u need pit file because ICS use different system file
Why u don't like ICS ? Its way better and faster than sammy ROM even its more stable , I think u should try it again with devil kernel with oc to 1.2 it will fly u can add some live oc which will give more fluidity

ICS wasn't faster here - it was laggish and always crashed some common apps (gallery, music player). I believe that the firmware wasn't completely "done" as it was being adapted from another version (my phone is brazilian) and some functionalities that it has (i.e. digital TV) wasn't available.
What I done to correct the boot was simple (I found a tutorial in a brazilian site, so it had all the roms that I needed).
1) Used a PIT and a stock rom to get it back to factory version;
2) Upgraded to Froyo (original) - That was kind of a mistake, the tutorial said to do it because then KIES would update it automatically to Gingerbread. The phone was fully functional, but KIES said that it couldn't update it (it recognized the phone and everything).
The tutorial stoped there, but since I had the ROM, I used Odin to install Gingerbread (the one that was looping) and it was done.
Now I need to remember how to root it because there are some dumb apps who can't get away (i.e. Orkut app, some demo games).
Thank you all for the help!

Hey guys, I'm really in a bad spot here.
So I installed CM10 on a GT-i9000, worked fine except for the hardware buttons not working. So from there, I decided to install SlimBean (A foolish mistake that I thought was foolproof). And boom, now I am here, stuck in a CWM bootloop, and I've tried factory resetting and all, still boots the same.
I've tried installing other roms, sometimes it reboots during installation and doesn't complete, and even if it does complete, same problem, it boots into CWM. And I've noticed a new Samsung AnyCall Boot logo every since I tried SlimBean.
I've tried updating the kernel, no luck. I bought a download mode jig, but windows does not detect the Galaxy S in download mode with Kies installed. (I think I disabled USB Debugging in CM10)
Any suggestions? This is really stressing me out. I'm prepared to use odin, but download mode is not recognized on my PC.

You will hadware buttons failure when you flash a i9000 ROM on an Anycall M110S ( Korean Galaxy S) , so I am curious are you sure your phone is not an Anycall M110S? since you also getting Anycall boot screen...sounds odd, that i9000 will do that.

Any updates to this?
I am having a similar situation. I tried flashing ICS ROM to my Anycall Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000. It is now stuck in recovery mode. I tried doing factory reset and wiping the cache and dalvik cache and tried reflashing. Everything goes fine but gets stuck in the recovery mode - more correctly in download mode but the download mode logo flashes twices and enters to recovery mode.
Any possible solutions to get me out of this mess?
Thanks,
Sid
your problem will be solved with this post:

Edit : above url is for S+ your device is S , sorry .
Thanks, but anything similar for Galaxy S? And remember my download mode does not stay, if flashes twice and runs into recovery mode. So if your solution is something to do in recovery mode it will be helpful (or if your solution is to first make me stay on download mode and then flash something using odin I will be thankful)

Check your Model, Anycal does not make GT I9000, it makes only M110S and firmwares / solutions for them vary.
If you have Anycal M110S visit PIT STOP link below to solve your problems
Check Here to chose your forum/Guide by Version of your phone or you will have more problems by using wrong solutions due to different versions of Galaxy S
you can get a rescue kit from My Android Collections and or a solution from My Android Solutions
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card....Do remember to backup your contacts, data, images etc and also your EFS folder before flashing a ROM and make sure you have more than 50% battery charge before you attempt any sort of flashing.

Glad that worked for you, but I for some reason can't be so lucky. I tried to also flash CWM 10 but after the home key not working I decided to flash Slim Bean and now I am stuck. My phone isn't even recognized by Odin any more and I have tried different USB ports and even my laptop with Heimdall. I don't know what to do at this point, but any kind of suggestions would be great. Usually when I get stuck I just flash back to Stock and start all over with a new ROM or kernel but I have no idea where to go from this point.
Ok, so I hard bricked my Captivate, used the Radioshack homemade jig to force it into download mode, and flashed Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXJVU. After further research, I realized I wanted to downgrade to 2.3 for a more effective custom ROM flash, so I flashed a stock Eclair 2.1 ROM using Odin one click (with bootloaders, I'm assuming). The flash was successful as far as Odin was concerned, but now the phone gets stuck in a boot loop for quite some time. If I let the loop run its course, it will eventually load the 2.1 ROM, but the phone will power off after about 5 seconds after I plug either a USB cable OR a charger (the charger is recognized as a USB cord by the phone). I cannot get the phone into recovery or download mode; the 10 plus button combinations do not work, and the jig sends it into the boot loop. I even tried holding the volume down key through the entire boot loop sequence, but it never stops (as opposed to not holding the volume down key, where it boots eventually). I tried reformatting the internal SD card, and I looked into putting it into download mode through ADB, but I do not have it installed and even if I did, I can't get the phone to stay on while connected via USB. The computer even recognizes it through USB until the phone shuts off. Through much research, I've come to the conclusion that I must re-brick my phone somehow from within the stock ROM I have installed. I have no idea if this is even possible or if it's the right solution, but I'm at the end of the line at this point. Any suggestions to help with this?

No such thing as "more effective custom ROM flash". All you need is stock GB with GB bootloaders.
You need to get to Download mode and flash stock GB. Tons of information in this forum, please read it.
I've been browsing these forums for days for information on this subject, and none of the solutions I've found fix my problem.
And where exactly did you read you need to downgrade 2.3.x to 2.1 in order to flash a custom ROM?
Calm down, turn the phone off and leave it on a charger for few hours in order to recharge the battery. Disconnect the charger, remove the battery, remove SIM and SD. Reinstall battery only, hold both volume keys and plug the phone to the PC. See Download mode now?
I didn't read that I needed to downgrade, but the guides I was reading were one click solutions for root and flash for 2.3, and I guess should've ignored them and done it manually. I did a one click on a #1110 phone, which is why it's now acting lame, I assume.
Ha, I am pretty calm. I have a Verizon Galaxy S that I've been using to charge the battery, since my AT&T Captivate won't even charge the battery via USB or straight charger when it's off, so it's pretty full. I've tried every method, including the one you just mentioned, and none of them work to bring me to download mode.

The jig I used to get it from fully bricked state into download mode would put it back into the boot loop. I solved my problem with the adb reboot download command. I managed to activate the command before the phone randomly shut off, as it does when I insert the USB cable. Thanks everyone!
Hey Guys im new here. In a REAAALYY messed up situation right now.
PLEASE HELP!!!:crying::crying::crying:
Had Carbon kitkat 4.4.2 rom flashed with Philz touch 6.19.
Phone suddenly crashed while using Whatsapp. It did not switch on,when i tried.
Tried re-flashing original stock 4.1.2 firmware (india version, coz im in India).
Used only PDA file(thats what was suggested in a website).
Flashed with Odin 3 v3.07. Got a "PASS" message.
BUT now came the problem. Phone got stuck at Samsung logo and switched off. Battery was about 70%
So I removed battery and restarted phone but same problem. Then I booted phone to stock recovery.
Did "data wipe/factory reset" and then "reboot now" option. Same result,i.e booted till samsung logo and then switched off.
So I again re-flashed stock 4.1.2 firmware(india version),but this time using Odin 3 v3.04(i know it may not make a difference).
Again got a "PASS" message.
Now, it started booting ,started downloading apps(eg:"downloading apps 32 of 63"...,etc).
After this phone booted to Stock Recovery.
This time i did "Reboot now"
It rebooted back to Stock recovery.
Again i did "reboot system" and then it booted back to stock recovery.
So kinda stuck in stock recovery loop.
If i unplug phone from PC,none of the buttons give a reponse(No download mode, stock recovery)
Is it hard bricked, coz when i plug phone back,i can get to download mode and stock recovery, just that it keeps rebooting to stock recovery again and again.
PLEASE HELP. Found everywhere on the net possible, couldn't find anything!
My dad would kill me if he got to know! :crying::crying::crying:
i know im asking for too much, being a new member, but please reply ASAP. Im freaking out here
Instead of pc, check with the charger connected... Could be a battery issue.

Maybe. But my battery was perfect before all this problem started. Its weird if it would just die off suddenly.
Also, i tried the wall charger, and the cable with another phone and its working properly.
I also tried charging with another charger,
Anyway, i tried charging via wall adapter, but then it automatically boots into Stock Recovery, even if i do not press any buttons.
even If i remove battery, put it on again and then put phone on charge,it automatically boots into stock recovery, without pressing any buttons.
And of course, pressing"reboot now" again boots it back to stock recovery.
Odin flash was successful with "PASS" message, and also i tried to factory reset and then "reboot sys now" but it made no difference.

Do u have KIES Disabled during odin? Are you using odin as Administrator? Did u disable firewall and antivirus when flashing with odin? Do u have the necessary files to root it in your sd card?A suggestion only that in your state, try rooting, installing recovery, and flash a custom rom to check if it boots
Note: You don't really have to install india vers. just because you're in india. Try newest ver available.

Try flashing philz ddlsc kernel using odin. Then boot into recovery. This time you will get cwm. Format system, data cache and preload. Then go to advanced menu/power options and choose reboot download. Connect to pc and flash the rom again.

The problem's worse now. Cant get phone to recovery mode. Only can boot into download mode.
As soon as i plug in for charge, the empty battery photo keeps popping on and off. Thats it.
I can only enter download mode, and not recovery mode.:crying:

yeah. i don't know what to do now. I'm going to try flashing the ICS stock firmware using Odin.
If that doesn't work, then I think i'll have to take it to some mobile phone repair centre.

I see. so after you changed the battery, did the phone boot up?
and if it did , did it boot up into the last firmware you had tried to flash?(i.e.,ICS,GB or JB)?
