[Q] galaxy s stuck on "Galaxy S" screen

hey,
i have an issue, i fear i may have bricked my phone, thou i cant be sure!
It gets stuck on the galaxy s screen when you first turn it on, thou i can still hear the start up sounds.
any ideas on how i can fix it, though i have tried the factory reset, no luck!
i tryed to use Odin, though i dont know how to use it very well!

well i looked at it and thought wtf, how i use this **** lol,
any chance you can explain how to use it, i got it recognise the phone but thats it!
i put phone into download mode, could you explain how i can fix with it?

i only had the phone like a month or 2, and i broke it but got it replaced under the warrenty lol
so where can i get a offical rom from?

There are lot of ROMs on samfirmware.com and guides on how to flash them. You need an account though.
Have you even flashed a ROM before?

i have flashed rom on a HTC Hero before, which was my old phone, but not on this phone, dunno how different its gonna be!

BTW, you could also check Doc's ROM if you want to use custom rom. I personally use it and its great. It has also some good guides compiled on the first post. I strongly suggest you read the Doc-Froyo.pdf guide in that thread.

I just installed DLEV 5 and it doesn't have asian font support. Can't change the system locale to the korean. I was wondering how I could solve this problem

Languages have to be in the ROM or built to add to the ROM in a CWM flashable ZIP. I can't make that, sorry. ..

if you have a later build phone that came with froyo on it, odin one click may cause a bootloop. if that happens:
1.calm down
2. at the bottom of the op of the thread i linked there are links to other firmware packages usewd in the pda slot of full odin. get back into download mode and flash one of those.
Or you can just flash a froyo kernel with odin and then flash the froyo rom in recobery and keep the gb boots as they are backward compatible.

I just got my captivate. Before this all I have had is HTC Androids. It was already rooted and I put cm7 on it but I want to try other roms and I can't flash any other ROM. It just stays on cm7. How can I flash another ROM on here? I think I have the Froyo boot loader on it. I hope I don't have to use Odin because I only have a Mac and haven't been able to find Odin for Mac

Heimdall works on MAC. Odin doesnt.
if you are going to be supplying answers to noob questions, please try and answer with actual knowledge rather than 'maybes'. your reply that someone needed to use ODIN one click could lead them to a bootloop, but you didnt think about that, did you? then you would be to blame for it when he comes crying back on the forum when hes freaking out about his phone not working after following your advice.

Hey dude I know what I'm talking about cuz he didn't mention that He had Mac not windows. Also if he did flash with odin it would only soft brick which is Totally recoverable, only hard brick would be flashing the 3 button fix, that would hard brick him.

Soft bricks are recoverable, but what if he has the bad luck and his key combos dont work for what ever reason (it happend to me once) You just made that noob freak out and spend unnecessary time to make/ buy a jig when it could have been avoided. Don't get me wrong Im one that believes everyone should have atleast a jig.
And show a little more respect Pirateghost is a dev with 3,000+ post I think he knows more then us... Just saying.

my tab p1000 GSM, soft bricked
followed the instruction on how to unbrick it, then it booted and got stuck on SAMSUNG logo, any piece of advice?
i downloaded the open asia XJPE from sammobile firmware page.. im from Philippines sir.

can you boot to download mode (vol down and power button)
I recommend just "restock" using Overcome method
Go to overcome site

Basically to restock:
Download GB-stock-safe-v5.zip, unzip it and and flash with ODIN according to the guide.
Stop there and you will have Gingerbread JQ1
You can continue with the rest, and you will get Overcome 4.1 and you won't regret.
From there you can then try AOKP or CM9, all requires you to have Overcome Kernel with its CWM recovery to flash.

Help me.I have galaxy tab SC-01C.I installed gt p1000s android 2.3 version then ics rc1 then gt p1000s android2.3 version again.Then when i charge my tablet shows like i connected my tablet via usb to computer.And it charges slow,in battery icon it shoes x mark.What should i do? SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH. SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

hi, i dont know what to call this. i am totally new to all this...
the goal was to install ICS on the GT-P1000. so i googled and was following instructions...
- did root using doomlord v4
- next was to run 'overocom_7_series_v4.1.-_no wipe' from Recovery mode
- recovery was android e3 so one website recommended to change to CWM.
- using Odin3-v1.85 tried to run skin1980-P101-NEW-CF_root-GB
- it didnt work so just checked -re-partion option
- learned my lesson that i shouldnt do that...and the tab is gone in a comma
so now i am not sure where i am....just tried something called soft oneclick unbrick...it didnt work...
please help....

First, can you still go to download mode...

I seriously need help
I first upgraded my samsung galaxy gt - p1000 from stock 2.3.3 to CM 10 4.1.1 jelly bean, then the mobile network did not work so I return it back to 2.3.3 then I brick it, after unbricking when I boot it to recovery mode it is reporting E: .... path unknown.. it looks that my gt-p1000 is done, i seriously need help to recover it.. pls help !!!!

Cm10 no mobile network, just our modem.bin in /system/vendor/
And you will be OK.
Now to recover just follow my reply to op.

Soft bricked my P1000, then tried all kinds of methods to unbrick, Heimdall worked, but the tab was stuck at the Samsung logo.
Installed Overcome using Odin and nows it back to new! Thanks!

Rom manager

I heard from a thread that using rom manager bricks this phone if you have a partitition and I'd bought the premium version before partitioning my sd card, just want to ask, is this true?

It has nothing to do with having a partition or not.
It bricks the phone anyways. Better remove that app, its dangerous if you don't know what functions of it can be used safely.

Mostly the motherboard i think, people reported that they had to get new a motherboard installed in order to unbrick it.

Hmm, that's confused me, I thought it would have broke it system wise. I know how to flash, root, etc, but I'm not exactly sure how they all work, but I thought that flashing just overwrit the system+os. So two questions, when you root/flash does that interact with the hardware in anyway and how?

Try flashing CWM from rom manager and you will see if and how it interacts

Rom manager ... flashes new recovery ... with wrong mounting points ... making your phone useless it will be like having the light switch of your kitchen in your bed room and your bed room light switch on your attic ... know what i mean? Nothing will work !! Since the phone will change the mp to points that dont exist on your phone.
Just flash cwm from stock recovery or from odin and you'll be ok

There is nothing u can do. Take it to service center and play stupid like "i was playing or updating my phone and he dyed" dont speak of root cwm xda. And they'll fix u 4 free

GT P1000 Bootlooping

Hi there,
I have a GT-P1000 and yet, one again, i have a problem. The Tablet continue restarting after trying to flash P1000XXJU2_P1000OXAJU2_ITV.zip.
I've flashed the dbdata.zip because, first of this it was only rebooting. After flashing it get's a BOOT LOOP on the Samsung Logo.
Since i find only broken links in this section, i would like to know if anyone of you COULD HELP ME.
Telling me to go search won't help me because, i only find broken links...
