Wanting to flash to stock rom Optus Australia - HTC Incredible S

Just wondering if it is possible to flash to a stock rom for HTC Incredible S in Australia (Optus) to get official HTC updates? If so, please let me know which RUU/ROM to use. Thanks. Otherwise which ICS rom is suited to Australia since the Asia one doesn't actually list Australia as a language/location when setting up which causes problems down the track when installing apps.
Currently rooted with ICS ASIA WWE version and hate how the language and location and stuff is not for Australia (doesn't even list Australia).

Hi, thanks for the ruu, I S-OFF 'd my phone using an XTC-Clip, when i got it, not done anything with it or any other Android phones since, so i am a little unsure of some things, can you help?
It is a HTC Incredible S on Optus plan:
LOCKED
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.0000
RADIO-3822.10.08.28_M
eMMC-boot

Is the RUU you linked to the same as the official ICS update from Optus that my phone has been asking me to update for the last month or so?
And looking at my current configuration, what do you suggest I do? As i have heard of quite a few problems updating from Optus themselves.
I would like to keep the phone as is, S-OFF, Rooted etc. but have the new ICS update, or do you recommend a better ROM?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
S

Have you got root and a custom recovery? If you can flash a ROM install android resolution HD if you want stock ics sense 3.6
Is more optimized than the optus update, especially if you tweak it up it also doesn't come with all the crap the optus one comes with
I would avoid the optus ota because it's laggy and slow. Put simply it suuuucks compared to the custom roms available

I managed to get the stock RUU and flash back so it updated properly which was great. Now I would like to flash to a stock rom that will keep updating on the network so I can sell it without all the Optus crap.
1. Is it possible to get a rom that will keep updating to official (Non-Optus) Android OS?
2. If so, can you provide me with a link to the RUU/ROM so I can do it.
Details when I boot in recovery mode:
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.02.0002
RADIO-3831.18.00.28_M
eMMC-boot

I should be able to figure out how to get the custom recovery thing back on it... Did have clockworkmod before.
Cheers.

This Radio is supposed to be used with a Gingerbread ROM. This is probably why you are having problems.
One way to go would be to extract a Radio from one of the previous Froyo ROMs. I do not think someone did that already in here.
Or you could go for Gingerbread, which is now officialy out for the IS.
I'll give 10st's Gingerbread rom a go, thanks for the advice.
now running 10st's rom, all fixed, rom looks good, thanks for your help guys

Asian Incredible S S-OFF but I can't flash ROM (OTA/CWM) -> assert failed

Hey Guys,
i have quite a serious issue with my HTC Incredible S i bought in Thailand.
As it was S-On, I first went for a XTC-Clip. The mobile had hboot 1.13.***
As XTC Clip offered only hboot 1.09, i simply chose that one and my phone was S-OFF a few minutes later. Everything ok.
As a second step, i installed CWM 4.0.0.4 to make a snapshot of my current system.
Since the mobile is still running stock 2.2, i tried to do an OTA upgrade from HTC.
Much to my suprise this upgrade failed (wrong model id). I then downloaded a custom ROM from XDA (Virtuous Unity 1.27.0 Sense 3.0) and tried to flash it via CWM. The installer stopped then with a cryptic error message (pls. see enclosed picture).
I suspect XTC Clip changed/replaced parts of my hboot and thus the phone has a wrong ID which prevents me from installing any new ROM or upgrades.
So i did some research and thought, that Alpharev-X could solve the problem
I ran the tool (beta2) and everything went smooth. But the problem with the model ID still persists
I checked my hboot, which gives me the following details:
AlphaRev
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.13.1002
RADIO-38.02.01.11_M
eMMC-boot
Does anyone of you has an idea how to "unlock" my phone so that i can flash the ROMs of this great community?
Thank you very much in advance for any help!
Best regards,
H.

Rest assured, your phone is unlocked and has security turned off so that you can flash custom ROMs. I can only assume that you must have a IncS model 710d. At some point during the IncS international releases, the internal model switched from "incs" to "vivo". The ROM you are trying to install is looking for "incs", not "vivo". I would suggest you try another one of the custom ROMs and see if they will install.

No, the OTA update is failing because you have ClockworkMod recovery installed. OTA updates require that the original HTC recovery be in place.
hello,
i could finally install the MIU ROM for the IncS and from there successfully upgrade to the Virtuous ROM v1.29.
Again many thanks for your help!

[Q] Which Unbranded Stock Rom Should I Load?

Sorry for a stupid question
But i'm just so confused with all the several stock roms that HTC offers and i just want to figure out which unbranded stock rom (don't require root) should i go with that would receive updates as they get released and would play nice with the Bell Incredible S S710a?
Also if i'm correct, after i S-OFF the device, i just need to install the recovery and then i can just flash the rom throug the recovery (just as i did with my X10) or is there something i'm missing (looking through these guides - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145541 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036581)?

How did you S-OFF? Did you use Revolutionary? If so that is the difference. My was unlocked and S-OFF using the XTC Clip so I didn't need to use Revolutionary.

Yeah that is the best course of action since you have the Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT. It is going to prevent you from installing the official IncS Sense 3.0 RUU/ROM. I tried to build a rooted, stock ROM from the 3.08.405.3 RUU/ROM for you guys, but it will only boot if you have the official HBOOT 2.00.0000. It will not boot on the Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT.

[Q] Custom ICS ROM issue

Hi XDA, I hate to make a thread about this when there are so many good guides on these forums but I am really stuck. Yesterday I tried to root my phone, which went successfully using revolutionary and CWM. However whenever I try to run a custom ICS ROM the phone will not progress past the ROM's splash screen. I have tried Ice Cold Sandwich and Virtuous Vivo neither which work. After something I did the phone did not advance past the HTC logo after which I reverted to the stock gingerbread RUU. Everything is working fine on rooted gingerbread now but I really want ICS. I updated the radio which I think got reverted when I reinstalled stock gingerbread, I also tried fast-booting the boot.img which also didn't work. I doubt both ROM's are corrupted because I downloaded them on high speed internet. Also tried wiping cache, dalvik cache etc before installing didn't work. Can anyone help me?
phone info:
S-OFF
Revolutionary HBOOT 6.13.1002
Running stock gingerbread RUU
EDIT: Would also like to know if I can install official OTA ICS update on my phone (not out in Australia yet). I have a gold card and s-off but my CID is not htc_001. If someone could link me or tell me how to do that it would be appreciated.

There is now a rooted version of the stock RUU/ROM that can be installed via CWM recovery and preserves your Revolutionary S-OFF. You might want to give that a try to see if you can live with the HTC stock experience.

No, it installs like any custom ROM via custom recovery which doesn't check for those type of things. You may have to manually put in your APN settings for network access if your carrier isn't listed.

[Q] How to Root Incredible S already running ICS

Hi guys,
This is my first post here. I just bought a home-used HTC Incredible S which was running Gingerbread. I have been able to officially update it to 4.0.4. Currently, these are the parameters in the recovery mode.
VIVO PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.02.0002

These are other details in case you need some more information.
Android Version 4.0.4
HTC Sense Version 3.6
Software number 4.10.405.1
I want to be able to root it just to install some apps, no need to install custom ROMs. I need help as to how to go about this. I have read various threads, but no hope. SuperOneClick also hangs at step 7. As much as possible, I don't want to downgrade before I root. How do I root my phone as it is now?

You have to downgrade because of your hboot version.
When I rooted, I was on gingerbread with hboot 2.02. I still had to downgrade to 1.13 to flash custom recovery etc.
To root, check one of these threads. I do not think you have a choice because unlike some of the older phones, the IncS has a complex security system to prevent "rooting" which was implicated by htc. HTC has now allowed the bootloader to be unlocked which makes life easier for us to root.
These "OneClick" roots almost never work on the IncS due to it's security. It will work on phones like the Galaxy Ace because to gain root access you just have to tweak the settings.
Hope I helped.

You have helped a lot. I have followed the procedure on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36489294#post36489294
However, I got locked at step 5. I have put in some questions on that thread but I've not gotten any answers yet. Thanks.
It seems that you have failed only at the part where you are "testing" root access. Rather than fixing this, there are other ways to test if you have root access..
-Bootloader should have **Revolutionary** or **Blackrose**
-Recovery should be clockworkmod or 4ext
-There should be an app called superuser in ur app list.
-Furthermore, you can install an app called Root Checker, and check if u got root access. I do not guarantee it works, but give it a try.
If all these tests return positice, chances are u got root access.
Also, if u are still on revolutionary hboot and clockwordmod, i reccommend you upgrade to blackrose hboot and 4ext recovery.
Blackrose because of compatibility, and 4ext because it is easier to use.
Keep in mind that you need an unsecured boot.img for blackrose, so make a nandroid of ur rom and flash cm7. Then install blackrose. It should work. If u do not have unsecured boot.img, you will recieve an error.
