Why I built my own PC and why you should try it too **Ask Any Related Questions**

I built my first PC, and it was one of my goals to accomplish before the end of the world in December came:silly:
I decided to try it cause I was pretty good at the software side of PCs, but not Hardware. Honestly, I am so so so so glad I did this because it was such a fun experience AND I saved a lot of money on the way. Here are my specs:
Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E
CPU: Core i7 950
RAM: 12GB Triple channel Mushkin DDR3
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 5850
HDD: 500GB WD Caviar Blue. 7200RPM
PSU: 850 watt Corsair TX850
DVD: Asus 24X DVD Write/Reader
Case: Antec One Hundred Lite
How long it took: 4 Days including the time to go and buy parts
Brand new parts or Used parts: EVERYTHING was used, except the case. This is the best thing you can do when on a budget because Computer parts work the same whether new or used, and they cost a heck of a lot cheaper
How much it cost me: $530(Seriously):laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Why YOU should try it: It is a very rewarding experience, you get to know your own PC(Like a pet XD) And you don't have to call that "Tech Guy" more often to solve problems with your PC.
Building a new PC not only gave me a fun time and save some money, but it also enabled me to get the components more than enough to play 2012 games in High to Ultra Settings.
Share your experiences/questions below, and I will try my best to answer them
Thats a nice setup but I think this thread might get locked. Only because there are already a few threads about building PCs in OT already.
Like this one.

Anybody who has a rooted, custom ROM flashed Android and has a brand name, prebuilt PC should really have his head examined
Building your own PC is very easy, and as the OP said, can be very rewarding. And it's a great experience if you're doing it for the first time. Heck, i'm building PCs since i was 13. Overclocked my first one when i was 12 .
Nothing to be scared of, just do it carefuly and choose the components for the build wisely
But I really do not get why people overclock their i7s, they are beast processors and most of them stay below 20% when playing games like BF3, Crysis, etc
Oh and I am getting 56 degrees Celsius at idle, is that normal? Also I have put it the heatsink back and forth many times.

I used to get around 80-85 under load, but since I dusted it out and got a notebook cooler, It's reduced significantly. Had to dust it out from the outside though and not open it up as HP notebooks are a pain to open up.

So you're using the stock heatsink? And you should really get a tube of thermal paste. It's what helps transfer the heat from your CPU to the heatsink.

85000 antutu score!!! numbers matter or not?

Snapdragon 800 processor in Xiaomi mi 3 scores out of the league 85000 in antutu benchmark. posting this thread here because same chipset will be powering next nexus in November most probably.
Benchmarks prove worthless in case of nexus 4 ...still its smoothest android (yet..) but doesnt score much.... more like having a rifle in hand but shooting like a pistol.
Android is clearly not that heavy duty OS that requires such huge power which no app can utilise...
As far as my views are concerned s4 pro is still not properly utilized in terms of raw power.
Here is a pic : (i know it can be easily faked but looks legit) Source

I did, compare any 4.2 rom with any 4.0 rom, and then compare both with 2.3 4.2 is the most sluggish of them, not developers fault of course, no one cares about low end devices anymore especially google, nobody is going to make a mobile os optimized for a device with such limited resources as galaxy mini, hopefully I will get new phone next month, but till then I have to wait.
I am going yo have to use this phone for at least one more year....no choice cause my parents wont buy me a new phone till I clear jee advance and get either into iit pawai or iist

age got nothing to do with summer job, if you really wanted new phone you would work for it instead of counting on your parents... i was 15 when i picked my 1st summer job, was able to get a pair of nice shoes that i always wanted after that, regret nothing it also helped me to learn how to be responsible, and i'm sure that if you really wanted new phone, you would find time to work on holidays... even cutting neighbors lawn, or washing cars few evenings a week

N5 is really great and I love Google gadgets.... but the reason 4 buy Xperia Z was the waterproof thing and its work well in the summer, I never was alone in the water everytime with my Xperia Z.
Currently I run with Cyanogenmod with 4.3.1 nightly builds ..... its like the same like N5 4 me & 4.4 will release AOSP styled in few hours / days as custom rom.
Going pure google is not that big nowadays, the gap between manufacturer roms and pure android is not that big. Manufacturer roms actually have an advantage now. All you need is root to get rid of the stuff you dont use and you're good.
Manufacturer Roms normally have better graphics, sounds, cameras and better customization. The fact that you cant even make a folder in the kitkat app drawer is a big letdown. Sure the n5 is newer but to say it's better? That would be hard to tell. Maybe the next Nexus will be but it's too soon, tech hasn't evolved much since Z's release.
I am, I have loved my z but I like the latest and greatest, I have a generic UK phone and I am behind on the latest code level. I know I can flash an ftf but should not have to, now the z1 and ultra are out I feel my 6 months old flagship phone is already out of date and been surpassed. I do love my z so it will and all of you will be missed

ROFL why? It's not like the damn phone can open apps any faster. Just add the extra wear on the CPU for no reason. Just genius!

In all reality. It's because we can haha. Some people just want higher clock speeds because we can. Others are fine with stock speeds. That's the pleasure of custom kernels

While I don't personally see the need for overclocking, I also personally don't see the need for a suburban resident to own a hellcat. But what the heck does "need" matter when a car looks and performs like that? I say GO BABY GO!!! ??? Overclock that bad boy!!!! ???
Edit: there's also a 70 year old lady at my church with a challenger hemi, 6.2 I think. She rolled up the first time before service and everybody was like "?????? What monster is that outside? ?"
