Are you sure you in fact flashed cwm recovery? Sounds like your still on stock 3e recovery. Try using Odin.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to flash a custom rom on a friend's galaxy s, I m not new at this, been flashing roms on HTC since 2 years so I m familiar with the processes.
I found that flashing a galaxy s was a bit different and I m having some issues...
I have rooted the phone with the one-click tool, flashed clockwork recovery via Rom Manager, now when i launch my recovery I can only access the stock recovery and not the one I flashed. i read somewhere that when in the stock recovery I have to launch the clockwork recovery as an update.zip, but whenever I try it says that "signature verification failed"...
Could somebody help me please ?
what rom does your friend have?

Bad section i think.
What's your current rom, and what do want to do with cwm?
You probably have to downgrade stock recovery from 3e to 2e first. Look around for "Elof's guide ". Good luck.

Search the Dev section for a rom called EZbase, follow the instructions then move to what ever rom you want.
Or just use Odin and flash hardcores kernel . There's instructions on how to do that in his thread. Then you will have 2e recovery.

You may not be able to access CWM, but I'm sure you can access the Q&A section right? This is where it belongs.
Btw, you have not tell us what stock firmware your friend galaxy s has, and what custom rom you are going to install. All custom roms has easy installation guide and some even has video guides on how to install. Perhaps you can also access the Search button.
Sorry for the wrong session post.
Hi guys.My mini is giving me a hard time.
Problem description:
-windows 7 x86
-installed kies, all drivers installed (checked the tray bar everytime)
-odin won't recognize my phone and I can only boot in download mode or stock recovery.
I was thinking maybe I can install cwm from stock recovery but I can't find anything.
Help greatly appreciated.
you can install cwm from stock recovery just make sure you are on gb
go to the stickied thread by me and then go to recovery section you will get it
The one by Tj_style ?
I'm asking this because the other two seem to require Odin.

The one by squadzone is flashable with stock recovery..
Same guy here. That's my friends's account.
I unsuccessfully installed cwm by squadzone.
When I reboot the phone it goes into stock recovery.
When im in recovery mode it keeps looping or restarting as i press up down or anything.
Im following this post. I flashed a stock rom then installed CWM to come to this problem. I have the international note.
Id be nice for any troubleshooting or tips for this issue
how about download mode? if you could, flash a stock gb rom via pc odin and start over.
Wouldnt that bring me back to where i was before?
It only happens after i instal CWM so perhaps im using an outdated kernal for CWM?
more like using an outdated CWM. Kernel shouldnt affect it.
You could just flash a kernel in ODIN, Something like speedmod, It will root and give working CWM, aswell as some cool kernel tweaks.
Its easier than flashing a whole firmware package
Wont flashing via odin give me the triangle?
Also how would i go around using it for this ROM?
It tells me to use abyss to do a full wipe...
Hey man ! How did you get on ? All sorted now i hope ?

When you install CWM from dr.ketans link, I think that you have touch CWM, try using your fingers not hardware keys (vol up/down).
Thanks its working now i think . besides maps and K air not updating thank you everyone!
My Galaxy Note wont boot after using cwm.zip & says entended comand notpresent, have still got access to both download & recoverymode.. Been given fewideas but never seem to work ???? i need laymens terms lol
which recovery do you have now ? stock or custom (cwm) ?
CWM.zip is unsafe, im suprised you found a download link for it, i thought they'd all been removed.
anyway, download philz kernel and flash it in stock recovery, or cwm recovery, this should fix you up, if not you may need to reflash stock firmware.
tell me your current rom / android version and ill find you the correct recovery to flash.
You need to post your current rom and kernel and details of what you're trying to flash.

Hi all,
I want to install CWM on my rooted SGS however there appears to be on CF Kernel that matches my JVN Kernel so using the CF method is not an option from what I have read.
So I installed ROM Manager and tried to install it that way but I now get signature verification errors when I go into Recovery.
Next I downloaded the recovery image from the CWM website but I cannot seem to find any information on installing it onto a SGS.
If anyone could offer any suggestions it would be appreciated.
TIA
Greg
Edit: Firmware is 2.3.3
Why dont you just flash JVU then Root it
Comes with CWM ....
As I am guessing you want CWM to flash a rom yes?
If so most Roms require ...from my knowledge a clean install of JVU with ODIN before flashing a New Rom

Download this "update.zip". Place it in your SD card. Power off and boot into recovery with the 3 button combination (press power, volume up and home button till you see the boot logo) and select "apply sdcard: update.zip". DO NOT DELETE THIS FROM SD. You should have CWM installed now. Let me know if you have any problem.
You need to root your phone first with update.zip for i9000, download the latest CWM.zip, put it in the storage. Then go to recovery and install the CWM.zip Goodluck flashing!

Can you use any version of JVU? eg: Europe, Asia, Australia. Or, should you only use one for your region, in my case Australia.
I have an Australian verion of JW6 (2.3.6), would that be acceptable?

Thanks for the UPDATE.ZIP, I note it is just a renamed CWM. I did not know you could just rename them and then install them. Thanks.
So, my plan at this stage is to update to 2.3.6 (JW6) and then install CWM via UPDATE.ZIP. Should this work?
TIA
Greg
Yeah you can upgrade first. Flash a firmware or upgrade OTA. You should root your phone first before flashing a custom recovery such as CWM.
