Cellphone Upgrade Help - Off-topic

I have a big question. I just shifted to the US and my aunt got a sick Sprint cell phone. I am thinking of upgrading but the website tell me that I can't until 2014. Is there any other way by which I can? Thanks

Destroy the phone in that case :banghead:
They can't force you to live with the broken phone anyways

This could be my last visit with the Thrill

As some of you know me, I've currently been working with the Thrill and had a small ROM in the make which I decided to postpone.
I'm currently getting rid of my Cliq XT & G1 in trade for the lovely T-Mobile Galaxy S2, though I've an AT&T SIM Card.
I don't care much for waiting with the Thrill, Samsung is super close to Google & that means that Samsung definitely gets updates far before a lot of other companies.
Love you guys, it's just time to make progress, not circle jerk.
As rude as that sounds.

Angry at HTC for not allowing me to own a One 64gb

I have been debating whether to go for the S4 or the One. Quite honestly I am leaning towards the ONE. I love the oNE design. I can live without removable SD card so long as I can have 64gb of storage but I am reading that TMOBILE will NOT carry the 64gb version of the ONE.
Now I could buy the HTC ONE from ATnT and unlock it but it lacks tmobile 4g (1700mhz) feature which only leaves me with LTE which isn't widely available here in San Diego yet. So I will be stuck with EDGE.
So I thought maybe I go with a ONE Developers Editions, which does have 64gb of storage but I read that it lacks proper TMOBILE 4g support (1700mhz) like the ATnT version.
So my only other option here is to get a S4 which does give me full features with TMOBILE? I feel cheated. ;/
Can someone correct me if I am wrong on what I stated above...
You would be better directing your anger at T-mobile, as it will be them who choose what models they stock and what frequency they use for their base stations. It does seem crazy that the US has so many different frequencies for 4G/LTE. Why can't they use the same as as the EU and Asia? 3 models of the One for the US is absurd.
Don't quote me on this, be I am pretty sure the "tmobile" radios will be able to be flashed to the dev version thus opening the 1700 hsdpa band.
I am inclined to think the all the one "models" have the same hardware. The qualcomm chip in this phone supports 30+ bands

Its possible but that would require s-off
They can disable the radios in the hardware aswell so that's a possibility

dev version s-on or off? I heard rumors that it will be on but I have no confirmation on this.
if it is on, lets hope for a quick exploit
Just be glad you are getting a "One" with your provider. Verizon doesn't even get it.

No I am not glad. Not being able to get the version I want is like not having the device on my carrier at ALL! 32gb? That just stupid. I have a 32gb SD on my Amaze and the thing is almost full. I am not about to pay full price for a device that I know I will run out of space. I really am genuinely pist off about this.
As far as flashing the correct radio for the Dev Edition, that is a HUGE maybe. It has yet to be confirmed. And I will be at the mercy of the Dev, meaning it could take time before a flash is available. I won't have 4g for some time. So spend 650$ and maybe i will have the ability to flash radio or just simply get the S4.
Just seems dumb guys. ;/
How much intern memory the S4 will offer in your country? Here in Germany we got only 16 GB at the beginning, that's just useless, of you got many games and apps.

Switching from Sprint to T-mobile, can I keep this phone?

Hi all, because sprint is removing my discount (I've been a customer for over 10 years) it is cheaper to move to T-mobile, but it has already been over 14 days and I cannot return my current sprint phone.
I currently have it rooted and unlocked, but I'm wondering if it is possible for me to just somehome keep this phone, but use it on the T-mobile network instead of having to sell this, and than buying a new one and losing money.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Thank you!
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they make it illegal to take your phone to a new carrier without your current carriers permission. Granted I do not know the details. But from what I understand the networks are not compatible so I do not think you would be able to do that. One is CDMA and the other is GSM.
I'm surprised no one's answered this simple question.
To answer your question, no. No way in hell. Sell your phone and get it T Mobile Phone simple as that.

They removed your discount when you upgraded. Go back into the store, fill out the form and fax it to Sprint. You will then have your discount back. You just have to re-verify every 2 years.

No, for two reasons...
1. The phone won't do GSM inside the US.
2. Even if it could do GSM in the US, it lacks UMTS 850, UMTS 1700 and LTE 1700, hence performance on T-Mobile as a smartphone will be poor.

I'm not, just throwing it out there for this person for an option
You could easily make 550 off of your One, assuming it's in like-new condition.

Worth buying cheap used htc one?

I got won an auction for htc one $150 but it is untested. Like I plan on using it abroad on gsm so I dont care if it is blacklisted it isnt by the way according to swappa.
My only problem is even though the seller has stated the touch screen works fine and okayish in terms of wear and tear.
It is a completely untested phone otherwise.
My only concern is if I buy this at this price and how much will it cost to repair essentials which might not work
microphone, speakers, and wifi
thats pretty much it
the seller is a high volume trader with around 4000 feedbacks so I doubt he is lying about not checking the device himself.
the fact that these things dont work is an if
what do you guys think is it worth the risk? for $150 htc one sprint silver
Don't plan on using abroad, if I understand correctly, and I think I doo.

could you please clarify why? I did my research apparently sprint has gsm radios for international travel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586704
this thread also allows you to unlock the sim for free
If your concern is the possiblilty of lack of 3g dont worry I live in a country where 3g wont come for another year
Well, apparently that may work, limitation being, if you wanna not use sense, the sim lock or unlock, is irrelevant.

just stick in your sim card and it should work automatically. if for some reason it doesnt, make sure that you are using a valid att apn. its not sim locked(like atts version), tmobile just lets a nexus be a nexus, for real.
Awesome! I'll give it a shot now...Thanks everyone!

No doubt, man, no doubt! I heard and read about that fiasco... The way I got this N6 is nothing short of a miracle. It fell right in my lap. Bought it from a girl for 50 $ because of a shattered screen, turned around and contacted Motorola and they already sent my replacement. I just received it today and Now after spending another 175 with Motorola I have a new N6! And, Motorola sent me a new one factory sealed in the box with all original charger, cord, box, etc! I didn't have any of that except the phone and all they want is the phone back! Crazy!!! I guess I was meant to use this phone because I did want it but the only way to get it was through AT&T's next program and I didn't want to do that, especially reading about all the issues. And, I really was happy with my one plus one. But fate decided it was time for change. So, here I am!
