Getting rid of superuser app - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really could use some help here. I tried to root my note (ICS 4.0.4 LRQ) using the root unlocker tool for windows. It failed but it installed the superuser app. Eventually I gained root access by flashing super su and busybox using stock recovery (latest rooting method introduced in August 2012). Now everything is fine except one thing. I use super su and want to get rid of superuser. I managed to uninstall it using System Tuner Pro (strangely it is not shown in Titanium Backup). But the problem is that superuser reinstalls itself with every reboot. How can I stop this? I tried to uninstall it and to delete it manually but all to no avail. Any ideas what I can do?

If TB is no listing the app, (weird), they Link2SD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en
uninstall it from there... if not able to .. try converting it to user app and then try
also try uninstalling the updates first and then the main app

Download this
http://download.chainfire.eu/212/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip
Flash from recovery

if the superuser app is installing again with every boot then it maybe because of your kernel.. have u flashed the hydracore kernel or speedmod kernel.. if you got speedmod kernel then create a file in /system name it .noautoroot using rootexplorer.. now delete the the superuser app from /system/app(not the supersu app).. now it will not install it again again.. if you have hydracore kernel then i don't have any solution.. maybe out there on xda someone knows

Thanks it helped, superuser is finally gone. Do you know why exactly it has worked? What other things apart from installing super su does this zip file?

It just adds super super, or overwrites existing. As well removing superuser if existing.

Just what I needed. Thanks.

[Q] SuperUser update problem

Hello there,
Last Sunday I updated my SuperUser apk to the latest version and attempted to update the SuperUser binary to 3.0.6 through the SuperUser app. The update process failed, however, and left me without a working binary. The last 2 days I've been trying to get SuperUser back up using all sorts of things, such as flashing a .zip from the SuperUser website, pushing the contents myself, and using both SuperOneClick and FlashTool, but to no avail. I really need SuperUser because of the limited hard disk in the X8.
I was hoping someone knew of another way of fixing this problem.
Also, is restoring the stock ROM (which I'm using anyways) using PCC or SEUS an option to getting my phone fully unrooted so I can reroot it?
Thanks in advance, Thom
Yes, you can restore the stock ROM via SEUS or PCC, you can re-root later.
It happened to me on sunday when i update superuser, i was using gingercruzt... i lost the root access i was not able to restore all my apps with titanium backup! so, i reinstalled gingercruzt. luck!
For me updated su works fine. Just install and update binary.

when i updated the binary, i lost the root access too...
is not necessary restore the original rom.
step1:
make a backup
step 2:
just download “su-3.0-bin-efgh-signed” and flash via CWM
step3:
enjoy again
step4:
remeber never again update the [email protected]%& binary
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/
if it doesn't work, try other SU's like 3.0.1-bin
Hello, my firs post but not last . When I was root x8 15 days before, I installed xRecovery and link2sd, and another app. So, after I update superuser to 3.06, I lost root permissions. Now, there is no chance to access to xRecovery menu, with meny times clicking (I never didn't update android 2.1 to another version 2.2 or 2.3....).
Any help?
Does anybody know how to resolve this?? Please...

Problem with root apps

Hi,
I have an OB with stock rom 10e and Quasar Kernel. The rom is rooted and everything works fine, but I have one problem though:
At first launch all the root apps work fine (I grant superuser permissions and such), but when I try to start the app again (e.g. Root Explorer) the app just gets stuck in the opening process. This happens with different root apps. The only solution is to kill the app and clear the app's data via the settings menu. Then it works again.
Anybody has a clue?
Hum... can you try to clear cache and data of Superuser app, launch it and click ok about the features and then launch apps using root (of course it will ask again for permission) ?
I'm not sure it will resolve your problem but... well I'm trying something. ^^

That seemed to fix it. Will see, if the problem returns. Thanks!
Did you update SuperUser app and su file?
Problem persists. I rooted the phone using the blackjack.exe from UPK package. Superuser is version 3.0.7, I don't know about the binary though. Should I just reinstall superuser?

Arf too bad. :/
What is the version of your su executable ?

The binary was outdatet (was 3.0.0) and I updated it via the superuser app. Seems better now. I will wait and see. Thanks for your help!

[Q] Problems with running root programs ICS 4.0.3 stock CF-rooted LQ2

Hi and thanks for reading.
I updated from a GB build to the UK LQ2 ICS via PC Odin using Dr. Ketan's guide, then rooting, again following his guide. I then applied the appropriate CF-root kernel with Mobile Odin Pro. When I rooted with CF root, I could no longer run root apps. e.g when I try to run Mobile Odin Pro, or TriangleAway, I get the app hanging on the loading screen... saying Checking SuperUser support...
Whilst this is hanging, previous applications that I've tried to run pop up notifications saying something like "Triangle Away has been granted superuser permissions for an active shell".
I think there is some sort of clash between superSU and superuser. Does anyone know how I would resolve this problem?
One thing I did notice was that in my list of apps, super su is there (v0.89), but I can't see SuperUser.
Thanks a lot!
Sorry guys,
I reinstalled su and my problems went away.

Am I still rooted????

Bizarre! I made a OTA update from 2.3.6 to 4.04 and didnt care much whether I would lose root. I'ts been 3 -4 days now and this morning I've seen on the screen that Titanium backup batch operation had successfully been finished.... Do I still have root? since Titanium looks for a root?
open superuser and update binaries

sounds like a carry -over/remanent feature, you may have the so-called partial root, does adaway work ? can you copy files into system ?
use some apps that need root permision
like root explorer and so on
Every program work but cant update binaries.

Rooting kills my S3 LTE!

Have a very weird and frustrating issue with my UK i9305 on EE.
As soon as it's rooted, no matter what SU app I use, it starts to heat up and leak RAM once booted until it runs out of RAM and restarts. And repeat. Until I unroot it and the problem stops. Initially, I thought it was a problem with SuperSU but I've also tried ChainsDD and Koush's Superuser apps with the same result. It looks like something requesting root access is causing a problem but I don't know what. It has said that it's granting root access to "shell" if that's anything to go by?
I resorted to wiping, flashing a newer 4.1.2 stock ROM (BLL5) but I still have the same problem. Can't for the life of me work out what's going on and really don't want to have to wipe again, especially since it seems not to fix the problem anyway.
Any ideas?
What method of root are you using??

Which version of SuperSU are you using? This was an issue in V1.0 for all Galaxy phones, and Chainfire has already released a workaround for this in the latest versions.
I've rooted using both CF Autoroot and mskip's toolkit. Same issue with both.
I'm aware of the issue with SuperSU and I've used subsequent versions of it (and indeed different SU apps) without success.
Interestingly, whatever version of SuperSU I try, the binaries can't be updated. I'm wondering if a previous unroot has left me with some relic of SuperSU that is causing me problems.

What about an Odin flash with stock firmware than try and root or flash a pre-rooted stock firmware?
Thanks
I did Odin flash the firmware I currently have but once I rooted, had the same problem.
