Hello all,
I want to install Google now on my CM9 Milestone but...
After trying for couple days ive realised that even after a clean CM9 install:
-If i install gapps + the M7 pack (xda thread) . Result = google voice
-If i install CM9 clean + M7 pack... result: google default search box.
So ive managed to make a zip wich i can install using my Androidiani OR v3.3 wich contains the files of both gapps and M7.
With this zip ive made i get to launch google now, but after i perform the firsts steps (where google tells you all you can do with it) and i click on "YES, IM IN" wich is the final step of the procedure...it crashes and im never able to launch it.
So ive decided that this goes beyong my skills. Maybe some of you who have succesfully installed it can give me a hand pointing me to the correct files/procedure to use.
NOTE: I do not want to install CMW, so please, keep that in mind.
I cant wait to show a working Google now on my Milestone to some of my Apple fan boys friends.
Thanks for you help!!

The install packs i have been using are the following:
Cyanogenmod9 2012-08-01
gapps 2012-06-05
And the m7 pack
Start to upgrade to CM10, CM9 is deprecated. Google Now is working for me. Flash L3ibnitZ's or my "hacked" nightly and JB GApps and it's good

I shall most probably follow your lead on upgrading to Cm10.
So you say using JB GAapps, alll be good huh? Worth the try. TY

In case anyone cares - here's how I made Google Now work:
CM10 nightly from here: http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10nightly/umts_sholes/cm-10-20121017-NIGHTLY-umts_sholes.zip
JB GApps from here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Google Search Update via Play Store
Older GApps packages (from various threads around here - most of them having "milestone" in filename") rendered the location service useless - but now it works :highfive:
@ afadel
I didn't have to free any space manually

Ho guys, i'm trying to install a nightly build via rom manager, but it cannot download the google apps packet cause of link broken. Where i can get a valid zip?

You'll often find you don't need one, the CM installer is designed to keep whatever version of Gapps you already have (yes, even with a wipe). If you really need one, links in ma sig.
mm i don't think so cause i've tried it, and after the install i lost all the google apps, i was forced to install them via the link you suggested to me (thank you a lot for that)
Hi guys,
I have a rooted nook color, and I accidentally uninstalled the android market using Titanium. I was trying to install Adobe Flash, but I was getting a message that Flash is not compatible with my device, so I read in a forum to uninstall the market and downgrade the market app to the previous version.
Well, after uninstalling it, and downloading the apk for the older market version, it force closes when I go to open it. Does anyone have a link to a market apk that will work?
Sorry, I'm new to this

How exactly do I reflash the google apps?
check around for the google apps zip file. there are a few floating around. i will see if I can find one and post a link. but, once u have the zip file, put it on your sd card and boot to recovery, then install the zip file via recovery.

Hi, I'm new here, so please have mercy. This exact same thing happened to me. I went to the site below and since I flashed MN 4-5-18 and 4-6-16, I though I should download, at the site linked to above, the CyanogenMod 4 google apps. Is this correct?

I think you'll always want the CyanogenMod 7 gapps. I believe the CM version #s correspond to the Android version... Honeycomb is CM8, ICS will be CM9, etc.
I installed the latest nightly from last night (CM9 12-12-12), the Gapps package from 4-29-12, and the Gapps fixer. I have things like Play store, GTalk, and Voice Dialer, bot no GMail, Maps, Youtube, etc. Am I supposed to have those too? I keep searching and it's not easy to find a list that I know specifically pertains to the TouchPad's CM9 implementation.
You have to get them from the market

But download what, exactly? I'm only thinking of those off the top of my head but I know that there are a lot more. The problem is, I need a list if I'm going to do that as a work-around and so that's partially what I'm asking for (that or help getting the Gapps package to install completely). The Gapps fix does nothing no matter what I wipe or what order I flash.
I checked with my brother and he did not download those from the market/Play store on his touchpad. Neither did I, and I was the one who put Goo manager on it. I'm trying to set this up for a coworker with all the apps as if it were the first time ever turned on and I don't want my account loaded on it.
I already knew I could download individual apps from the market. Thanks for your help though.

Those apps aren't included in the ics gapps. If you open up the zip file and look in the /system/app folder you'll see what apks are included in the gapps package.

What rom are you using? Pretty sure those apps being included in the build is different than being in the gapps package

i have cm9 (latest nightlys) and cm10 (latest nightlys) .. IIRC they both are 1212 builds..
for cm9 i had to install 0429 gapps..
for cm10 i used the JB gapps but i dont exactly remr the build date or name..
good probabilities that it was 4.1
im pretty sure that both roms require separate installs of gapps..because no gapps are built in

I dont get what you are looking for. If you have the Play store and were able to sign into your account then you have everything the Gapps offer. Gapps are mainly Google services that let you sign into your Gmail account, sync your Gmail account, Use the Play store, etc. There are some apps within the Gapps file which are system apps but like others have said, everything else you mentioned is in the play store. Gapps don't include those apps.
Hii guyz,
I see the gapps are given with the roms...
But i have my own apps and want them to backup and flash on the new rom i install.
How can i make a gapps.zip of em?
Well it wouldn't be a g apps zip. That's goggles app. But with titanium backup you can create an update zip that will do just that.

I hate to sound like a smart ass, but it still would be a GApps bundle. For instance, the current GApps that's available is from March 1, 2013. Google has updated many of their own apps since then. If I wanted to flash, say the latest CM10.1 Mod, I'd had to flash the GApps available from goo.im, then update them all.
It would be much easier for me to take the already updated apps, zip them up, then when I flash a new ROM, I could flash those updated apps. The problem is, I don't know which apps to get. The store/marketplace app isn't called store nor market place. The Maps app I'm pretty sure is called NetworkLocation. So, it's not as simple as you make it sound.
I guess the real question is, what apps are in GApps, and how can I replace them with the updated versions?

DL the latest gapps.
Review what's in it.
Update all of those apps.
Place all necessary files in folder
ZIP IT and label to your liking.
This is of course coming from someone that's never done it. Someone with real knowledge, please chime in!

Well If you read my post you'd see I said you could make an update zip which is what it would be called. Not a gapps zip because it wouldn't be just gapps.
Besides the fact that this post is almost 4 months old..

I updated my nook hd+ from cm-10.1.3 to cm-10.2-20131125-NIGHTLY. Now, the Google Play Store doesn't work (says that it doesn't have a connection when it does), and Gmail also doesn't work (crashes when opened). I first tried to update to a newer nightly version to fix it, but that didn't work (always says it can't find the file), then, I tried to revert back to my previous cyanogenmod version, but that didn't work either. It always asks "install untrusted zip file"? But, whether I say yes or no, it doesn't work. So, any easy fixes for this?

No i didn't do that, I didn't know you had to when updating it directly from the about tablet tab. Could you tell me where to download it please.
Thanks,

Yes, you still need to upgrade your Gapps even if you're updating via Settings; since you're using a custom ROM. You don't have to flash gapps if it's stock ROM, since the manufacturer bundles the latest gapps with it. CyanogenMod doesn't bundle gapps; as some may not desire it.
You can download Gapps from here: http://goo.im/gapps
All the best.
