Hi guys,
a friend of mine has a huge problem with his rooted P970 (android 2.3): after installing an update, the system only boots into ClockworkMod, rebooting from there only goes into the CWM Recovery again. Holding VOL-UP when the phone is connected to the computer and even holding HOME+VOL-DOWN will boot the CWM. VOL-UP within CWM doesn't work as well. Factory Reset and installing a ROM from CWM doesn't make a difference either.
So we tried to install a firmeware via SmartFlash (V20N). But the problem is that the COM-port only appears for few seconds until the CMW is completely booted, than it vanishes again. So we really have now idea what to do next.
Thanks for your help!
You need to pull out the battery, insert it again, DONT POWER ON THE PHONE! Now hold VOL+ Button, then plug in the USB cable and you should see the software update screen, then use smartflash. OR in CWM, wipe data, cache, in advanced wipe dalvik, try to install a custom ROM like boype's CM7 kang, have fun

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
but the problem is when i finished the 7th step
it made restart and after 5 secounds it make anther restart and never boots
what to do now to fix this problem
please help me
try to remove the battery for 2 minutes. now reinsert battery and switch it on with menu button and vol -. if you go in download mode you can flash with Odin
if all fails get a download jig from ebay for £1.50, forces into download mode when you plug it into the charger socket.
can you boot into recovery mode? (Volume up+Menu button+power)
if you can and have CWM, try to Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Also, from the main menu go into Mounts and Storage and format /system, /data, /datadata, /cache. Also, go into Advanced and wipe your Dalvik Cache
can you go into download mode? (Volume Down+menu button+power)
if so, you can go into download mode, and using heimdall or odin, you can flash to a stock firmware and kernel, and start again from scratch.
I had the same issue on my first attempt. Something to do with the different extensions used by stock Samsung & Cyanogenmod. As a previous post mentioned just remove battery, restart into recovery & flash again. make sure to clear cache & wipe system data etc.
was trying out the app "Anim Mod" installed chose animation reboot..... now stuck in a bootloop. volume and power combo dosent work please please help!!
What?you mean you can't enter software upgrade mode?
nope i cant.... tried the known key combinations cant even get it to go into recovery or s/w update mode
tried pulling out the battery sim card and micro SD and then hold volume up and plug in the usb cable?
got it sorted.... the ONLY key combo that worked to get into recovery for me was Huexx method
-------------------------------------------------
WHAT TO DO IF GOT A BOOTLOOP
1.- Remove battery *edit** I didnt remove battery, I plugged out the usb instead**
2.- Power on your phone again, and once the 4 leds start flashing, repeatedly press a physical key (g-button or volume rocker) until your phone reboots and ir access to CWM
3.- Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache, then reflash the ROM again
4.- Reboot and wait

And if it doesn't work, you can connect your phone to your computer, start adb shell and type in 'reboot recovery'. Your phone will enter cwm and you can restore a backup, reflash a rom..
I use this method if I get a bootloop. (I'm developing a rom.) I think it's very helpful, because you don't must use smartflashtool.
cakebomb.
in some situation adb cannot connect the phone and you have to use the smartflash tool
Anim Mod bootloop
I have the same problem here! I got bootloop after using anim mod. I'm able to go to stock recovery. I had backup my file then did factory reset but problem still not solved. I had backup my framework-res.apk file but it's not on a flashable zip format.
i've tried using apk multi tool on trying to do and adb push but it's not working
what can I do next?
connect your phone to pc in s/w upgrade mode->pull out your battery, hold + and plug in the usb in phone..and after that, use smart flash tool to flash firmware(v20) with CWM included..and after firmware flash your phone will enter in CWM recovery, now from CWM you need to flash supersu from sd card..after flashing firmware and superuser, DO a data, cache, davlik cache wipe !..and just after this you can exit from CWM(reboot)
Here's a link to all tools that you need to repair your phone. You need to use smartflash tool, a V20 firmware with cwm( you can download it from here), and put the Superuser.zip to your sd card..and install USB driver if you haven't installed it yet
I use this method every time when my phone is stuck on bootloop or if I've flashed a ROM that doesn't have root..or other situations.. This method brings you to a rooted gingerbread with CWM(this is all what you need, because from here you can do what you want..for example flashing which ROM you like )
!!! You can use this method anytime...doesn't matter which ROM you have or if your phone is rooted or not. After using this method your phone will be fully rooted, will have CWM recovery and android 2.3 gingerbread !!!
I have just downgraded ics (germn) to gingerbread (german vfd2), everything went fine. Then it bootlooped. I waited a 2 min. Guess need to wipe data. Battery out. Battery in. Nothing. Nothing at all when I press the power button.
I flashed using Heimdall cli on ubuntu x64. I quadruplechecked the partition to file mapping.
What are my options?
Are you able to enter download or recovery mode
Reboot in recovery (Press and hold Volume up, power & home button)
Wipe cache (wipe data too)
It should boot now normally.
If you are unable to enter in recovery or download mode, then its hard bricked and you should try fixing it with USB JIG.

I think this mod must be installed with cwm so.
if you have luck boot into recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006168 wipe cache and dalvik cache (in advanced) and reboot maybe it will start then
if you did a backup on cwm boot into it :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006168
then restore.
if you have a costum rom you could try to reflash it.
if this too doestn held you have to flash youd kdz new,
Hi guys, first time posting here, sorry if a question like this has already been asked but I've looked around and haven't managed to solve my problem yet.
So I have rooted my Samsung Galaxy Mini II (GT-S6500T) and used Odin 3.07 to install ClockworkMod 6.0.3.2 onto it; I then booted it into recovery mode and installed ZIP from SD card, selected CyanogenMod 10.2 ("cm-10.2-20131202-UNOFFICIAL-jenad.zip"), followed instructions etc. installed Google Apps and all that.
Now, when I selected to start up the phone again, it just gets stuck in the Cyanogenmod boot screen, the blue arrow just circles around on and on (I understand that it usually takes a long time but I don't think it's meant to take over half an hour... also, every now and then I notice it kind of makes a low vibrate sound?).
I've read that to fix it you can reboot it into recovery mode and reflash it but the problem is I can't even get into the recovery mode. If I force the phone off (e.g. by removing battery) and hold Vol Up + Vol Down + Home + Power to boot recovery mode, nothing happens. If I just hold Power it starts up and goes straight into boot sequence.
I do have a backup of my previous settings and all that saved - one saved on my external SD card and the same file saved on my computer, so if I can somehow load that back it would be great I guess.

I mentioned earlier I cannot enter recovery mode. When I hold the button combination to go into it, nothing happens.
Earlier I managed to get into download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power) and I reflashed a stock firmware, but now my phone is stuck in a boot loop, it just shows the Samsung screen and vibrates every now and then. I still cannot access recovery mode.
Managed to fix the problem but thanks for the help anyway. Followed one of the solutions here and removed everything, held power for 1 min, plugged my phone into the computer and managed to get into recovery mode. From there I did full wipe, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache, format /system (probably only necessary to do full wipe but I dunno), then restarted into download mode and used Odin to reflash stock rom, then reloaded recovery mode and reloaded my backup.
edit: My question now is, I'm not sure what I've done wrong in the process of installing Cyanogenmod to screw up this badly. Is it absolutely necessary to format /system before installing it? I did do full wipe, cache and Dalvik cache and mounted /system prior to rebooting and loading Cyanogenmod.
what i do > install rom > reboot > install google apps .. I had this problem aswell a while ago. what also can be the problem is when u don't format correctly..

Have You as well was unable to go into recovery mode and stuck on bootloop ? One thing I can do is to use Odin, tried to flash some stock firmware with no result. Still no acces to recovery and still Samsung logo loop. I searched, read many topics but nothing helped. Is there something except Riff Jig that could be done ? Thanks for response
-Flash stock rom via Odin
-Flash cwm via Odin
-Pull out battery
-Connect phone to pc (without battery)
-Wait until screen turns on
-Hold recovery combo keys until samsung logo shows (home+volup +voldown +power)
-put battery back quickly
-You should be in recovery now :wipe data, cache, dalvik cache
-Reboot.
I was in similar situation, if not identical. This worked for me. Good luck.
Edit: I didn't see you fixed it already. Ignore the post.
