Nokia vs. iPhone design language - Off-topic

After iPhone 5 & iPod announcement I`ve noticed some design solutions that was introduced long time ago on Nokia`s models. In fight with Samsung, Apple took Nokia`s Lumia as example of "original design". So guys, if you like to discuss on design, please give your opinion about this situation.

thats the good thing about nokia and microsoft,
WP7 or 8 may not be the best mobile OS but it still is far better in terms of innovation and coping up with android than iOS and the apples,
microsoft as much as possible avoids legal issues to lessen headaches,
if you were a industrial designer you can't build a design without first analyzing what is the current marketable designes and applying it to the derivative output of your own product, i think that's how the tech industry evolves,

Apple sues Samsung

"Apple notes these products come shipped in a rectangular case"
I thought cases used to be rectangular?

that pic made my day man
but there already is a thread like that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040818
^^
to being with lmao
So apparently from Apple's point of view every current ( post 2007 ) touchscreen phone is copying the iPhone. In all fairness the touch wiz interface bares resemblance to the iOS one ( don't throw rocks at me, I'm just making a point ) but this is sort of pushing it. Though they are good at avoiding lawsuits... I mean who in their right mind would have conceived making a single button mouse back in '98
Damn you beat me to it,
I even have the link ready http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/innovation/04/19/apple.samsung.lawsuit.wired/
They are suing them because the galaxy pad have rounded corners and black borders
cant think of an xda app signature
I think this is going to end badly for apple. I don't know if they realize theyre going up against the single largest corporation(Samsung Group) in the world, they must have HEAVY influence in asia.
Typical company lawsuit. Move on.
Sent from my Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
lmao at the pic Also Apple have bought 5.7bil $'s worth of stuff from Samsung, Which Samsung has a right to use in their own products aswell... So you'd expect them to be similar if they're using the same parts
Not to mention the LG Prada which debuted and shipped long b4 the iPhone....

Information Tech/Programming... Give me affirmation!

Looking for guidance... =)
I am a fifth year HS Math teacher. Undergraduate in Math- Planning on going for a Masters in Information Technology this Fall. But the thing is, I told my advisor, I really want to be exposed to many topics in the IT dept and figure out what I want to do. But then there is a part of me that really wants to go into Comp Sci and program. I'm reading through some Java tutorials now and am just very interested.
Teaching is great and I have had some of the best times and rewards teaching, but I can't imagine doing it for thirty years- graphing lines for thirty years, managing 35 people for thirty years, watching people with eyes in the back of my head for thirty years.
I want to work with adults, and I think IT can allow that. But I am curious about this programming aspect as well.
What would Xda's community recommend I do? I obviously have the mathematical mind to program and understand this stuff. I just need some direction from people who have been through similar situations and been down these paths.
Like I said, I'm currently enrolled to begin in August in an Information Systems masters program. I do have to take a .NET programming course as a pre-req. I'm also in System Analysis and Database Systems this coming semester.
Wow, thanks beforehand. It feels good to talk about this ^_^
We need to sticky a "what class should I take" thread. Get these all the time, need to roll it all up in one place.
This may help you with affirmation!

[Q] I.T job opportunity

well, i’ll start off by explaining myself. I’m a second year software engineering student. The Stage one of my degree focused on the fundamental computing principles, where i stuied six modules ;- computer systems, computer communications, internet technology, software engineering, problem-solving and programming and computing mathematics.
In stage two my degree specialises to develop further areas within software engineering. Studies include formal specification of software systems, internet programming, software engineering group project and systems design and development.
Anyhow thats enough about me. I’m currently seeking a similar minded/age junior software developer whom are willing to work along side me in order to contribute towards a software solutions company, as i’ve got some funding to start my own company and will be willing to employ about 6 people as a start off to do some programming ,the more language(java,c++, javascripts, html, UML, XML…etc) you know the better, must be socialble and able to work within a group as most of the work will be team based. If this sounds interesting to you then please feel free to email me for more details with a portfolio attached.
Almost forgot, you must have some coding background before applying
Got a feeling this thread will be closed , I'll just leave this here.

XDA isn't a place for advertising, which is essentially what this thread is. Therefore:

Decided For the Pixel 4 - vs all the others (Samsung, Apple, and etc)

I am very excited. I really think it's a special phone, at least from a first glance. The phones that Samsung, Apple, LG, and others put out year after year are all.. carbon copies of one another. I always choose an outsider if I have the option for anything outside of the mainstream - you know, especially if everyone has it.
I had HTC m8 when Samsung ruled Android all alone. Than I opted for OnePlus when I broke my HTC.. because, why not right? Cheap, and as good as the twice as expensive ones.
Anyway!!
That was probably the main reason I decided to go with Pixel. On top of guarantee of getting new Android OS probably before anyone else, I also like the lack of a company skin, and bloatware. I mean root does take care of that but you shouldn't need to root to get rid of apps from a device that you OWN.
When I get it, hoping the order process goes without a hitch, I will write my first impressions here.

I didn't spend much time on the forum but from a few reviews I read.. it seems pretty mixed. Some hate it, others love it. Care to enlighten me, please?
Greatly appreciate any effort to that question..
Cheers, Amer

Hello, and greetings from Ellsworth, Maine!
My name is V. Kelly Bellis. This is my 2nd post here at XDA I have been surveying since 1975, beta testing surveying and surveying-related software since 1992, using GPS since 2001, and GNSS RTK since 2014. I’ve also been a paid consultant, equipment tester, photographer and manual writer for a GNSS equipment manufacturer. Recent developments supporting multi-frequency multi-constellation GNSS RTK solutions in smartphones has been particularly interesting to me.
Google’s Decimeter Challenge at this year’s ION GNSS+ 2021 conference is looking to be a milestone event toward the realization of high precision GNSS positioning on smartphones. I wish all challengers the very best for their teams’ success in St. Louis! Moving past the excitement of ION GNSS+ 2021, where will your research and development lead to next? For any participants of the Google Smartphone Decimeter Challenge, whether they attend the conference or not, and who are developing GIS and surveying related applications, I am offering my help and ideas. You just need to provide the supported Android device(s) targeted for your app(s).
Please feel welcome to continue this conversation by replying to:

Thank you very much.
Kind regards,
