Since upgrade to ics I have been unable to utilize the feature where you slide your finger over the top of the notification bar to change brightness. This is even with auto brightness unchecked. A really useful feature for me.

Are you talking about the brightness control on notification pull down? If so then you can have 15 toggle mod, it has the brightness toggle to control brightness from notifications.
yeah its not there on ics

check settings\system\status bar and check BRIGHTNESS CONTROL. There is no longer an actual slider bar that displays. Just touch and hold the top of the status bar and slide your finger back and forth.

Download an app called display brightness from the play store, its by dev called rubberbigpepper. It emulates that feature and I actually prefer it.

Hey all,
I know rom development is in the works, but I feel like I'm lost without toggles in the "pull down notification" area. I was put on to "Power Controls" from the Play Store and it works great. It's free, customizable, and works without root for those that aren't into that sort of thing!
You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Hope this helps a few folks out!
Thanks,

just a heads up to your heads up.. i used this app with ICS and loved it, was exactly what I needed in the notification bar. However with JB this app hurts the experience. In JB the top notification is expanded for greater viewing and actions. This app is treated as a notification and will always be treated as your top notification and you lose the whole JB notification functionality.
Notification Toggle fits well. ICS icons match and notification priority and icon can be changed so it's almost seamless.

Ditto. Works awesome.
Btw- you can manually expand JB notifications with a pinch-to-zoom.

I use Elixar 2. It's pretty nice, adds toggles to your pull down notifications. I don't think it requires root (though some of the features in it do if you want to use them all).

I have been using a similar app called Widgesoid to implement that toggle for a while. I had been using it in 4.0.4 and it is still there since upgrading to 4.1.1 and I expand my emails all the time to see who said what. Maybe it is this app(people said the same thing about Widgetsoid), or because I already had it installed when upgrading, but I don't know what you mean by losing that functionality. Still works fine for me.

I use the "widgetsoid" app to create a permanent occurrence of customizable toggles in the Notification Tray. My primary setup includes: airplane mode, wifi, wifi tether, bluetooth, rotation lock, screen brightness, flashlight.

But that can only be used while on the home screen. Having them in the notification section allows quick access anywhere there is a status bar visible.

I've enabled the pie control (hold Power then enable Expanded Desktop is the bit that took a little finding).
I've sussed that sliding my finger outside each half of the split semi circle gives me Notifications or Static Tiles.
In the Hybrid settings I've enabled all the Dynamic Tiles (Alarm Clock, Bug Report, IME Changer, Wi-Fi) but I have no idea how to trigger them from the UI...
I found a PA Setup Guide but it focuses on the per app dpi/colour stuff and doesn't have the pie/tile stuff... I think it's a bit new!
Also search forums for Custom Tiles and Dynamic Tiles but there's not much about.
Anyone know the location of any docs I can use to get up to speed?
Cheers!

Hi,
In the pie menu swipe to the upper left corner (assuming youve got pie on the bottom). Youll see the left upper bow`d white line lightn up.
On release youll find the toggle tiles.

The one's there are defined under "Static Tiles" - what then are "Dynamic Tiles" am I misunderstanding the terminology?
Dynamic tiles will only be visible if they are triggered by system activity.. Ex. You use the alarm clock tile.. It will show up only when alarm is set..

But is there any app that only remains in the notification drawer with a slider ?
I'm sorry I cant find much, but this seems OK, but no slider

Thank you for your help, I've searched a lot too and can't find any notification embed slider
I found the widget app called : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...medium=appbrain_web&utm_campaign=appbrain_web
Which does have sliders for luminosity and volume but I can't find one single app that replicated the samsung slider with both automatic luminosity offset and absolute luminosity % slider !
If one dev manages to code this I bet he can start selling it at least 5 dollars ahah.
This one is NOT BAD AT ALL too because you can add APPS and other options like flashlight into the bar, I think I'm going to use that one for now : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&feature=search_result

What do you mean by "click something to get to the toggles?" Just swipe the notification shade down with two fingers to show the toggles. Tap a toggle to go into its settings or tap and hold to toggle the function.

There is. It's called "Power Toggles" You can add many toggles (including flashlight) right below the date in the notification drawer. You don't even have to be rooted for this.

Have you Checked out Xposed Framework and Gravitybox?
It allows you to turn your quicksettings into toggles. The main reason why I used gravitybox was the torch & wifi AP toggle plus it was just update so you can rearrange the order.
This option might be better if you want to keep android looking stock. Also Xposed framework brings in all kinds of options you'd expect with custom roms.
I'm hoping we get these kind of toggles on the Moto X. This is my Gnex. I don't know why moto didn't add the option to add more toggles like the SIV and G2.

I've customized them already. I want them as notification toggles not tiles on their own curtain. There is no setting I can find to turn off the rules and make them toggles on the notification curtain.

If you long press they act as toggles (that behavior can be changed as well). I know what you mean though. Maybe you can look at "Power Toggles" in the play store.

I really like Notification Toggles in Play. If rooted you can install as a system app and get true 1-touch state switching.

This. With gravity box..you just long press the tile and it toggles....no need to go into settings like when you just press the tiles quick.
Most...that I've tried anyway...apps that give you toggles on the notification screen, like Samsung, give you an icon in the status bar on the top left. And you can't get rid of it. Personally I can't stand that. Lol
