Hi
I bought me a 2nd hand galaxy note yesterday but was on 2.3.6 Ginger minger so this morning proceeded to update to ICS via KIES
stuck on 3% for 10 mins then on 4% reported an error, ever since I have been unable to follow any recovery options
Problem I have now is running Odin 1.85 with "N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5"
I am only able to boot into download mode not recovery but when I connect the USB cable, big fat nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can anyone help me please
PS: I know how tetchy mods can be when you post in wrong section so apologies in advance
Cheers
EFC
if you connect the phone on download mode to your PC, does odin detect your note??
you can flash ICS even if the screen shows nothing as long as it gets detected by odin

Nope, and nor do I get the windows noise when you have plugged in a USB device like a mouse or something!!
I have re-installed the Samsung USB drivers twice both times it said they were already installed but I done it anyway
Does this sound fixable? Would a phone shop only try same recovery options that I am trying?
ok, let me get this straight..
you have download mode, no recovery right?
if you boot into download mode, then connect the phone, it doesn't get detected (blank screen) ?? have you tried charging the device then trying to connect again? or simply remove the battery then re-insert?

Does not go blank says "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!"
Battery was full before I started this so I doubt its in need of a charge
Odin does not report any connecting in the Message box, tried on a different PC even installing "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones" but still nothing
So I can asume that the issue with not connecting to Odin is with the phone
Question is.....what is my next move?
Thanks for your help much appreciated

I have given up, been trying since 10 this morning
Samsung has gone right down in my estimation due to this, all I done was install KIES and was when phone connected it prompted me to install an updated firmware, then got error at 4%
Never had this with HTC so if I cant get a warranty replacement am screwed!!!
Was Your phone locked or something before this happened ?
Maybe you could try a new Rom File...

I have tried 3 different firmwares 2 of them FAIL in Odin while 1 gets stuck on "setup connection"
It is in Warranty so are Vodafone going to want to attempt a repair or will it be a straight swap?

I think it will be a repair as its not a hardware fault I think.
Use ODIN 1.85. Maybe a last try before returning it to Service Centre ?
And don't change any option in ODIN. I think you have changed it.. Maybe I am wrong lol... Just wondering...
try to flash any custom kernel only with odin, not firmware, and if the kernel flashed, try to go to recovery and then full wipe and flash any rom.

restart your phone again in download mode b4 trying again in ODIN... donot continue where its stuck

I'm trying to flash back to stock but can't get it to work.
I've tried using I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 to flash back but it sticks at sbl.bin and then the screen on my phone turns off.
I tried using Odin with the JH2 firmware but it just sits at modem.bin
I've flashed to JF6 before and it always worked but now i can't seem to get it to work. I have perception installed right now, not sure what version.
Any help would really be appreciated.

Can you still get into dl mode
Get into download mode by holding volume +/- and plugging in your USB cable.. DO NOT press power!
Once in download mode (you'll see a yellow triangle and the android guy shoveling) start up Odin and it should flash.
Goodluck!

Yeah i did that but it still wont flash.

it just stays at sbl.bin
does it normally take a long time to process that file? When i used to do it, it would flash really quickly.
No that flashes almost immediately. Pull battery, leave out for ten minutes or so, try again.

Now it stopped at <ID:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
then the screen went blank
I had that happen to me as well. I ended up rebooting my computer and phone a few times and it ended up flashing.
Like mcord11758 said above, sbl.bin should flash almost immediately. The entire flashing processes shouldn't stall.
I finally got it to flash.
I reinstalled XP Pro on an older dell laptop and it finally worked!
Does anyone know why it works sometimes but not others?

Nope, you really do not need to flash stock to change roms. As you can see flashing stock has its risk
Good Day All :
I started up with Odin so i could update the Tab, but the program closed down about 1-2 sec. after. When I tried to turn on the tablet, there was ... no reaction (!)
Tried to go in "download mode", but no reaction or by factory-reset. just black screen ...
i also tried "Recovery Code" (Hold the Vol Down Key + Vol Up Key + Power Key for 15 seconds then release) but its same no reaction.
Can it really be true that I have ended up with a piece of useless plastic?
Pls your help is vevry important
thanks
Do not panic.
Better connect to wall charger for an hour first; then try recovery mode (volume up + power).
Regards
Kongar
thanks for the reply.
it was in the wall charger for an 7 hour . i just try ... nothing happend ...
It sounds like you have stopped it in the middle of loading the bootloaders... That almost the only way to hard brick your tab...
If you can't get it recognised by ODIN then the only thing available is to JTag it. You need to send it in to someone who can do this - look around the general forum, there was someone there doing it - most phone repair places will say it needs motherboard replaced, expensive.
If its still in warranty, you might be able to send back to samsung, tell them it happened while flashing through Kies.... Don't tell them you flashed with ODIN.
Seems like a few people are doing this...
Good Luck...
ok, now after i update the PIT the GT is boteabel but its hange in the startup page GALAXY Tap.
Note : Every time i but the GT in the Dawnloading Mode and try to flash a rom i get faild in kernel stage.

like Boog's KJ3 Kernel. I don't have CWM, so i need to flash that kernel to move on with Illuimance. But how do i used ODIN to do that?
Place kernel in PDA and hit start. (MAKE SURE repartition is UNchecked).
i did, but it doesn't do anything to the phone.
Debugging or DL?
ODIN recognizes phone in debugging, but not DL mode for some reason...
repartition unchecked, and the .tar loaded to PDA slot.
i click start, but it just says (.../failed 1)

Put your phone in download mode first.
You have to be on download mode. Try rebooting your computer or using main USB port. Also checking drivers and cable also helps.

U have to be in download mode. Right click on Odin and run it as admin, also if it still fails try a different primary usb port (1st one on a laptop or the ones in the back of pc that connect to the motherboard). Removing sdcard (if u have one) and sim wouldn't hurt if ur still facing issues.
Dang it viny beat me to it
i run "I897UCKJ3 Stock without BL" as admin
i put phone in download mode (hold vol + and -, plugin usb, put in battery)

Do U see a yellow indicator on Odin saying something like COM6 or some other number? If not than Odin is not seeing ur phone....high chances of faulty data cable...happened to me....i changed the cable worked like charm
EDIT: Even the above scenerio can be caused by faulty cable
yeah it sees it as COM5.
i plugged the phone in (download screen didn't pop up) but ODIn still recognized it, i hit start, and it's working now (just a blue status bar progressing across the bottom) So i guess it's going to work now? odd...
thanks though. I've had crazy misfortune with this phone so far.
yep... working like a charm. (finally)

The issue with mine is i have no history on this phone... its my co-workers who got it from a friend who is clueless about his own damn phone.... bought from a local guy.
anyways im in guam and i have no way of checking if this model was on a custom rom or what not or if the unit was pure stock all around i cant go into recovery mode at all only into ODIN which tells me to download a custom OS ... i myself am not a tech guy so im new to this just reading around but you all are well aware of what firmware and what not your unit was on but me i have no clue due to it not being able to fully start up and not charging only through my laptop port which at that wont even help cause my laptop tells me its not recognized but i have the drivers downloaded in already and have kies from my previous androids i had.
so my search is to find someone who can help me out here with me not knowing at all pretty much being blind to what the units firmware or ROM was even on and so forth.

that is as far as i get then it just says fail...... my phone will only charge when connected to my laptop but not to my wall charger. my phone can enter download mode but not recovery mode.
when connected to my laptop the driver doesnt recognize it but it can be detected on odin but on kies it wont.
more help
okay ..... so its either the rom itself you are trying to flash or something else ....
first : what do you mean when you charge it from the plug it wont go ?? this is a real problem ... if you have another charger try it with first then if its not charging you'll need to service that mobile via samsung service center cause you cant do anything with an empty battery ....
if my guess is right then it a faulty charger and you need a new charger ... thats it , after checking this step you can try downloading another rom which i am sure it will be all right cause i am already using it :
try this link :
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/198300717/4646e97/N7000JPLSB_N7000OJPLSA_XSG.zip.html
download this version of odin too :
http://www.4shared.com/get/U6DTV0GA/gt-n7000_flasher__pit.html
you'll need to uninstall samsung kies , reboot you pc ,
and install samsung latest usb drivers :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555
Note : DO NOT FLASH ANY FIRMWARE UNLESS YOU HAVE GOTTEN DEVICE IS READY TO USE AND ALL DRIVERS INSTALLED SUCCESSFULLY
afterwards you will extract odin and the firmware (md5 file + dll file "important" ) on you desktop in a folder and then you'll use odin in administrator mode then you make sure you note battery > 50% at least then make your note in odin mode ( vol down + home + power , then vol up to enter odin mode )
plug your note to usb and let the pc reapply drivers then youll put md5 file in pda bar and pit 16 gb in pit , also check your note internal capacity ... maybe you are lucky and have 32gb or even 64gb
okay then press start .... normally it would take less than 10 minutes to complete , 8 minutes 15 seconds of waiting then you have your note booting , unplug it from pc when odin says ok ( blue ) or pass ( green ) then here you go ... Jelly bean !!
teah man still no damn luck it keeps on failing and if it aint failed yet its like passed 30min. and still nothing changed.... do i put the PIT and the PDA or do i do it one by one.... do the GT7000 PIT first then the N7000 PDA after?!....
a step by step video would do more wonders than just reading.... cause i think my issue is way different cause i dont even know if this phone is unlocked or what or anything about it cause i got it bricked. stuck on boot logo and HARD RESET isnt accessible and im in GUAM.... ya know where GUAM is?!......

last time it rebooted automaticly opens android recovery and stays on that screen....? i cant do nothing....every time i plug it into charger he starts up and opens recovery ?
tried charging over computer usb, from a 220v,even from a dock....but he as soon as i plug it he opens recovery ?? any help...i think the main problem is battery....would it help to charge it in some other device or something ? or i screwed things big time ?
I had the same issue here.use odin still cant help
Anyone can help here
I stuck here.

Background, Symptoms and Repair Attempts
My significant other's I9305 spontaneously died. The phone is fully stock, non-rooted. Was never custom-flashed.
It was working with no apparent problems, then one night we left it (turned on) to recharge overnight, as we usually do, and found it boot-looping in the morning.
"Boot-looping": repeatedly showing "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen for about 4 seconds, then restarts (screen goes black for about 3 seconds, then "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen shows again, infinitely repeating).
The boot-loop prevents access to recovery mode or to the main OS.
"Charge mode" is working - when phone is turned off, it shows charge animation when connected to power source (with battery level rising as charging progresses).
Download mode itself is accessible, and phone remains in it until I force it to end. Text shown on top of download mode screen:
Code:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9305
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
However, actual flashing is apparently impossible. I tried several times using Odin v3.09 to flash 2 different stock images:
I9305XXBME3_I9305DBTBMF1_I9305XXBME1 (Stock 4.1.2)
I9305XXUFNL1_I9305DBTFNL1_I9305XXUFOA1 (Stock 4.4.4)
In all my flashing attempts I had only "AP", "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes checked, and the rest unchecked.
All attempts failed (with a red "FAIL!" on the top-left of the window) within 2-3 seconds after clicking the "Start" button. Odin's message log for such an attempt is as follows:

openrecovery-twrp-3.0.2-1-i9305-F2FS
CWM_touch_6.0.4.7_i9305
Attempts to flash these failed in the exact same way as the stock images did (as described above).
Despite all my (failed) flashing attempts, all symptoms remained unchanged (boot loops, no recovery, only download mode and charge mode working).
Questions
I'd really appreciate any tips, advice, or answers to the following questions:
Are these symptoms indicating a problem with the eMMC chip?
Is there any possible repair other than replacing the eMMC chip? Is there any chance for repair using a dedicated JTAG/eMMC tool?
Am I supposed to be able to salvage at least part of the data on the eMMC chip using an SD reader and an SD adapter soldered to the motherboard (e.g. in a manner similar to the process described here)?
Am I supposed to be able to salvage at least part of the data on the eMMC chip using a dedicated JTAG/eMMC tool? Would I be able to extract more data with such a tool than I would be able to extract using the soldered SD adapter and reader?
Many thanks in advance for your time and help efforts!
EMMC Brickbug claims another i930x device. Unfortunately, all the partitions after a certain area are useless because some defects in a batch of EMMCs. i9300 has had it for some time, but i didn't know that i9305 could have a part of the faulty lot that kneeled the i9300. You may be lucky enough, depending in what country you live, to find and go to a very good smartphone repair shop and get the EMMC replaced by some people that actually know what they are doing. Or, if you have money, skills and time to spare, replace it yourself, but you'd need to take some precautions to not f it up. (i.e. place some thick metal piece over the modem to not heat it up, and to not apply too much temperature to the board to damage it.)
