I was wondering if there is a smart cover for the Nexus 7. It would be like the iPad smart cover. I have seen one, but it did have a backing and seemed it needed the backing the fully function.
Any sightings?

I'm looking for this too...the ipad one basically doesn't have a back on it...

You won't be able to get a smart cover like the iPads as they are magnetised to each other. As far as I know the Nexus does not have a magnetic strip down the left side, although I think you'd be able to stick one on and make your own smart cover

that's what you're looking to get for sure
it's too hard to find a smart cover for Nexus 7, below smart cover will be a good choice which recommended by my colleauge:

I have the tmobile nexus s. I've been looking online and found a few that look cool but don't really match what I want exactly or that are made for the Nexus S specifically.
This one is almost perfect. I'd rather it load from the top so I can pull the phone out without having to open the wallet. Like keep the wallet in the pocket and still pull out the phone. Also this one may be a tad on the small side for the dimensions of the nexus s. I'd also like to keep it thin. Cards, cash and phone.
I can't believe I'm the only one who would want that...
I think i kind of hate the leather covers, coz with time the cover tend to get bad smell...!!!
take a look on pdair, i bought a case for my ex aver liquid and is still looking good

Just bought a leather case, but it's designed for Galaxy S. I Hope it's going to fit
It uses adhesive to secure the device. Smart-cover type functionality it appears from the video. Looks sweet. Anyone want to pull the trigger?

You do it, then you can tell us all about it.
This might be the best out there atm, wish it was designed for the Nexus so u wouldn't have to have that flap (have it attach like the Ipad)
I'm not gonna spend $40 on a case that isn't designed for my device.

I agree that this case looks great. I actually prefer this over the magnetic smart covers, as the smart covers do not protect the back of the device. I have ordered this off of Amazon, and will get it in the next couple of days.
The Nexus 7, however... I'll probably get it next week according to Google's E-mail on the matter.
By the way, there's no doubt in my mind that this will work for the Nexus 7:
Both Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire have a "rubberized" back, so if the adhesive works on the Kindle Fire, it'll work on the Nexus 7.
base x height x thickness for Nexus 7 is: 120 x 198.5 x 10.45 mm
base x height x thickness for Kindle F is: 120 x 190.0 x 11.40 mm
What that means is that it'll have a small bezel of ~4mm on the top and bottom of the device (thickness of <1mm will probably be negligible on a case)
Case is "open" and not blocking any ports/buttons (since Kindle Fire has no buttons on the side, if the case had a covering on the side, it would've screwed the Nexus 7's buttons)
Regardless, since I will get the tablet within 30 days (which is the return period for Amazon for this case), I'll try it out and update if it's worth keeping or not for the Nexus 7.
I don't see any better case coming out for it (I prefer a small, sleek case like such), since the actual smart case design (like the ones for the iPad) is patented by Apple, and you know they're going to sue the crap out of any other company that makes it (since they're very sue-happy).
I'm going to pass by best buy tomorrow and see if I can find anything decent that fits...if not I'm ordering this.

I have this case for my iPad and its by far the best case I've ever had. I hope they make a nexus version soon.
I had this case for my Kindle Fire but unfortunately I sold it along with the Fire when I ordered the Nexus 7. That said, I'm fairly confident that it would work just fine with the N7...the adhesive is very strong and should have no problems attaching to the back of the N7. I took the KF out of this case several times without any issues getting it to stick to the adhesive when I put it back. My only concern would be that because the KF is slightly thicker the case might have a little extra "give" with the N7 when closed.
It's a very sharp looking case, though. Highly recommend for KF, should probably be fine for N7. Using mine without a case at the moment but considering going back to this one.
What is the best nexus 7 case that you can buy as of right now?

This question is subjective. Like beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I am sure you have seen the myriad of threads and posts about cases. Have you seen them?
Is this your first tablet? If not did you use a case with your previous one? And were you happy with it?
Are you curious about a certain case? What makes you ask the question, really...I mean your answer is out there. In other words, the answer you seek is the one you answer yourself.

This thing is my favorite, personally. It's cheap. Durable as hell. Wakes and puts the device to sleep with the flap. Can be turned into a stand, and it don't look half bad. It's all your choice, but I would look at this one if I was you.
Ya it is my first tablet

Too soon to call it bro, it also depends on your price limit.
I'd say a few weeks and you'll have more formidable options.

Soooo many case threads... maybe there should be a "which case is worst" thread. Don't like the one I bought on Ebay here. The fit in the portrait direction is not great, slides up and down about .25", so the camera gets covered easily. Also has no hole for the side mic, so mic pick up is questionable. Also the thickness of leather prevents a finger slide right to the edge of the screen. No auto-off. I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it to anyone.
It absolutely depends on whether a case offers functions or features that would give you more opportunity to use your tablet.
I typically get cases for my devices so that I am not as concerned about breaking it while out and about. I am also often in situations where it is best to be discreet about using an electronic device.
Something else to consider is how the case will impair the experience of using your device as opposed to having no case on it. One of my biggest gripes with cases in general for touchscreen devices is how many of them encroach on the screen surface, so I go for the usually higher cost cases that put more thought into how the device is secured into the case without putting anything on the screen surface. When I say that they encroach on the screen surface, I do not necessarily mean that they hinder viewing, but that they cover the unused edges of the screen, and that happens to be where I prefer to grip with my thumb, and I prefer the feel of the glass under my thumb rather than leather, cloth, microsuede or whatever else.
Those are just my personal rules when hunting for cases for my devices.
This case almost makes it, if only the back was black, and that stand popped off.

Just got the blurex case... love it!
Man the good cases are taking forever to come out
Poetic Case
This is the case I ordered. It a smart case and fits my N7 perfectly. At 12.95 with a three year warranty it is well worth looking at.

I have that case...and the revision of it.
First case that I received had a strong magnet causing my Nexus 7 to go to sleep mode when the front cover is folded to the back of the case.
The second cover that I received today had no magnet (or a weaker magnet). The smart cover sleep/awake function is nonexistent.
Also the stylus holder is blocking the volume buttons. This issue actually is for both versions of the case.
Despite the lack of the smart cover function, I'm going to switch between the latest revision of the hardback case that I just got today and the official Google case....for now.

I hate to revive an old thread, but DODOCASE recently released their Nexus 7 HARDcover and it's definitely the one I'm eyeing for my upcoming Nexus 7 purchase.
I can't post links yet but search for:
dodocase nexus 7 hardcover
BlueRex is pretty legit.
I made a video review for it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBjNpG95Zu0&list=UU25TmsJidl31Hbf5PVckK8Q&index=1&feature=plcp
Sounds real simple, but all I did was buy a case (pu or supcase search it on amazon or eBay) there's a slot where I could put the tablet in, and a Velcro belt on the left center, exactly where the lift is. Some people used clamps but this is a safer way to do it and you could still use ur nexus 7 to make sure its heating up. Honestly didn't expect it to fix but I took the tablet back out and nothing (I clamped with warmth before loosened the screws etc etc) gonna keep trying but even if it does come back (along with the squish) it would jot even matter since the case is holding it down... now I absolutely love this thing and can't stop using it! Good luck!

Hi
I had a cover/stand combo back when I had my Nexus 10, it was great.
I was wondering if there was one made for 7" tablets/Tab 3.0 7"? Anyone knows any? If not, any one recommends a standard case instead?
Cheers

I have the Otterbox for my Sprint Tab 3 7.0 and the cover converts to a stand. Coolest thing is that my Durango (2013) has a small space under the radio/navi screen and climate controls and the front cover/stand fits perfectly in it. So I have my tablet sitting directly in the dash, securely angled toward me. No movement or anything. It's meant to sit an angle in the cover - maybe 40 degrees, but the opposite side has the ability to hold the tablet up perfectly straight. It's weighted well enough that it won't tip over if sitting on a flat service.
Got it for $29 on Amazon.
I got both my parents a cheap Letherette Folio Cases for their Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0s, which can also double as a stand and they love them.
