I need to get boot.img in order to edit the init.rc... I can't backup in cwm as my internal storage is dead and Im trying to use external for the cache and data so it cant mount /sdcard. If anyone could provide me a stock boot.img it would be appreciated... but even then how am i going to put it onto the phone as we don't have fastboot? (idk if heimdall would work)
I think the stock use zImage not boot.img?
You can find some here

Hey guys here is my story:
I flashed my captivate i896 with cyanogenmod cm7 then tried to flash back to stock with a 2.3.4 rom and checked repartition by mistake...after that the mmcblk partition that recognizes all the media in my cellphone was gone, so it doesn`t reads any sd (internal storage, movinand or external sds), it shows unavailable space with internal 16gb, external sds and 0.0k with internal storage.
I have tried to flash with many roms. The only one that could actually boot the phone was a recovery image of i897 speedmode with CWM, but still can recover the deleted partitions. I went into CWM recovery to try to mount or format them, but it doesn't let me.
In conclusion, I though that maybe flashing movinand and emmc files using heimdall could repair my cellphone, I been looking everywhere for information about flashing this files, but couldn't find the files or usufull information about it. I hope someone here can help me.

All you need to do is flash a stock ROM, from Odin or Heimdall, and a pit file. If you want to use Odin to repartition, it's as easy as loading a pit file in the pit slot, then check repartition. If you want to use Heimdall, you will need to be on Linux instead of windows. If you can use the Odin one click jf6 by designgears(not all phones can use it), it will repartition for you.
I already tried that with no luck, because after flashing back to stock the cellphone can't read the sd so it shows me the following message:
E:Failed to mount...
depending on the build number of your phone, which hopefully its an early build, this should work for you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Did it with no luck.
Hi guys, I keep looking everywhere but haven't g found a way to format the internal storage, no even a low level format
Low level format

Any resolution to this.. I have the same issue and have tried numerous re-flashes with BL and w/o.. with PIT repartition and several different roms.. all to no avail.
My i9305 is routed, and has clockwork mod installed on it, still running the new EE 4.1.2 official rom thought.
Im unable to mount the data partition in clockwork mod which means i cant create any backups of my phone as it fails.
The internal sd card partition wont mount either when i try and intsall a zip from internal sdcard i get cannot mount /emmc.
I think my partitions are messed up and i probably need to reflash a PIT file to get them back in the right place.
Can anyone confirm that this is right?? And if http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950591 is the corrrect PIT file to use for me?
Thanks
Hey,
which version of cwm do you use?
I only know the emmc error from the 6.0.1.5 touch version in the dev thread.
Dont play with .pit files restore to stock factory reset then use cmw

had I the same problem [efs] erased and sent him in the Repair Center.wait for still new. they said to me 50% and down probabilities with JTAG
Possible to fix efs unable to mount manualy do with terminal just had problem myself u can also try manual mounting data and emmc using terminal

Thanks for your suggestions; I’ve actually managed to fix it now.
I actually forgot to mention a fact which as it turns out was the reason for my problems.
The device was encrypted and CWM can’t deal with encryption or the encryption would be useless!!
I unencrypted the device and I’m now able to mount both partitions.
Can’t believe I didn’t think of this in the first place and nearly flashed a pit file!!!

How? can you make a tutorial for the dual boot process?
Sorry about that but i dont now so much about android. I find blocks for SD Card and i modify boot.img (for external rom)
I explain on large.
Legend:
iBoot = Internal Boot.img
eBoot = External Boot.img
First time do a full backup on sdcard and rom. (i make from recovery)
1. Make a backup on iBoot from Terminal: dd if=/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/BOOT of=/sdcard/iBoot.img
2. (i mount sdcard from recovery to partitioning) Make a 3 other partition (i use MiniTool) for system/cache/data
First partiton is SD CARD (fat32) (i split from here 7gb..i have sd 16gb)
Second is a primary ext4 partition for system..i put 1,5gb
Third is a primary ext4 partition for cache..i put 800mb
And last is a primary ext4 partition for data..i put free remaining..~4gb
3. On External Rom, need to unpack boot.img and go to fstab. file to replace:
/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/SYSTEM to /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/CACHE to /dev/block/mmcblk1p3
/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/USERDATA to /dev/block/mmcblk1p4
and repack boot.img
(and make a copy on desktop like eBoot.img) put back on archive and go to META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script and edit ALL line
/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/SYSTEM to /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/CACHE to /dev/block/mmcblk1p3
/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/USERDATA to /dev/block/mmcblk1p4
save..sign archive
4. make 2 archives with iBoot.img and eBoot.img (to switch bethen need a normal flash iBoot or eBoot) (i put 1 archive in attachament for eBoot...for example)(for switch rom need to flash boot.img for Internal or External rom)
5. Flash External Rom (with meta and boot.img changed)
6. Reboot..wait to external rom make files (data files and others)
7. If you want to change rom, enter in recovery and flash iBoot (for internal) and eBoot (for external).
I use 4.4.4 (AMCHA Rom KK for i9305) (for internal ..and this is rom for daily)
And 5.0.2 (NamelessROM 2.0 [BETA] [20150106][Blazing Fast]) (on external..temporary)
I dont now if it work with all rom
I'm not developer
If you dont now how unpack/repack boot.img or sign a zip file..search on google, dont ask me about this
I'm realy happy if a developers was extend this and make a Kernel for this (or App)
i'm inspire from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639112
Sorry for english...And i dont now if this method works for everybody.
edit: Dont forget to unmount /system /data /cache partition before flash ExternalROM.
Thanks for the tutorial, I will try to reproduce the steps when I'm free. Don't worry your English is comprehensible.

For some reason if flash eBoot and use External Rom..and you want to go back on Internal Rom..when flash iBoot and restart phone..some time was stuck in bootloader..for solve this (temporary i think), go back in cwm..flash again iBoot, go to Advanced and Reboot in CWM..after phone reboot in cwm, press Reboot devices (normaly)..i dont now why is this problem
other thing is: you can flash without problem other rom on internal. (i try today to flash again 4.4.4). external not affected BUT after flash, need to make backup on iBoot ..i dont now why (because i flash same rom with same configuration)..
Now i use on external: Resurrection_Remix_LP_v5.3.0-20150119-i9305.zip and it works grate
I like people who like try new things . If you need help or you stuck , pm me.
Good luck
Hehe
You mean, you did it as well? and you will try to write it down. Or you will start trying.
I have only once repartioned something before, so I'll wait for good instructions.

I'm sorry about instructions..but i search on google all info for try Dual Boot...i dont speak english because i'm from Romania.
I try to explain how i make Dual Boot (manualy) for developers...to make this option much easy..
Someone really needs to make a script! I think this could be implemented in a custom recover. All we need now is just a complete step by step guide.
Thanks in advance to the developer who's going to write this down! ☺
First of all, in advance, excuse me my english... it's not so good.
Anyway... guys could someone please help me ?
I'm going nuts, I got a samsung galaxy s3 mini and the damn thing keeps telling that there's not enough space on it whenever I try to download something, so I go over to settings and check it out the storage and it shows 0bytes for everything.
I've done some searching and found out that it's a problem on the efs folder (I think) but I don't have a backup to restore so end of line...
Also, I tried rooting so I could somehow download an efs folder and copy it to my cellphone but guess what ? END OF LINE because I can't install anything.
There's also the fact that everytime I turn off the cellphone he resets.
Just so y'all know, I have none experience on this lmao but any help is welcome and appreciated.
Do you have no signal/sim card detected and can you try booting to recovery, is the message "unable to mount /efs" appearing? If yes, that means efs is corrupted. If you don't have a backup of the efs folder, you need to go to a repair shop to fix the efs.

No, I don't.. It doesn't recognize any sim card.
I was hoping I could repair it myself but it seems that there's no way.

Nevermind..
Read this and grab the flashable efs-backup.
Download supersu zip, then put both efs and supersu zips in your external sd.
Download twrp and flash with odin.
Boot to recovery and flash supersu from external sd. (if it even can install)
Now, before you try to flash the efs.zip, it can be a smart thing to back up your own
/efs first even if you suspect it to be broken. (better safe than sorry.)
Use the terminal emulator it twrp for that.
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/storage/extSdCard/my-efs.img
This will dump a 16MB partition image to your external sd.
Flash the efs zip from external sd and reboot to see if it works.
Otherwise you could try to flash the factory/repair firmware from here

In TWRP, go to Advanced -> Terminal Command and type that command (you must also have an sd card for that).
Hi, This is my first post here, please let me know if I need to add any additional information. I was attempting to root my Samsung M31s using Magisk and Odin. I tried to flash the patched AP tar file and I got a vbmeta error. so I patched and flashed the boot.img instead. I managed to root my phone but looking into the files app, I only had 8GB of internal storage. I've tried to reflash the stock software but I still only have 8GB on the internal storage, What should I do?
Solved my own thread: I Erased the NAND and repartitioned the NAND.
