[REQ] Changing 4.1 Notifications - Nexus S Themes and Apps

Hi, I am wondering if its possible to change the android notifications in 4.1 so that it is not black with the blue line. I would prefer if it looked like the notifications from sense 4.0 or the ones from gingerbread, where it is mainly grey and has a solid bar at the bottom.
e.g.
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/main1-1333318032.jpg
https://encrypted-tbn3.google.com/i...Fq8cQgvFQD7olB_DaWWOBY2HaxHwMR2U456tY4XnsPP8D
So I humbly request if somebody could give me a flash able zip or tell me a method that changes the notifications to grey, and the status par to almost transparent (like sense 4.0).
I am currently running 4.1 aosp chocolate w/ thalamus if that helps.
Thanks,
Continuum

I have tried and searched for status bar transparency but have had no luck yet. JB does it different than ICS. On some thread somewhere, a themer said it couldn't be done in JB but I don't know for sure

The status bar transparency is possible to change. I think what your saying is the notification tray. Yup its impossible to changed it ive tried it hundreds of time. Its different with the notification tray in gnex. I think its hard coded inside ns systemui

Just takes some toying with and someone will figure it out.. Anything can be themed just takes some time to figure it out..

Well that's a shame.
Thanks anyway though.

I've tried it myself, there's no XML tag for the Notification Tray background color that can be easily changed; some more in-depth digging is in order.

Anyone have a Black Status bar or pulldown editor?

Would really like that?

I used a market app to change the pulldown from Verizon Wireless to B&M Services and it FC'd the phone app over and over...
So, I'm sure there needs to be some playing around b4 we see one for the Bionic

I know a few of us are working on the Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen right now getting some themes cooked up for folks.
I tested a few themes that I created and one of them was a black taskbar. I'm sure more people will have themes coming out due to bootstrap.
Actually, if need be, I can create a black taskbar, flashable zip in CWM, if you want.

Just tried the app and no success. Usually to manually change it, it's in the eri.xml file. Could be different as I saw some other posts for Moto devices being in a different file.
To manually edit the eri.xml file:

As always, back up your device before doing this.

[THEME] Blue Fusion for Fusion V-WIP

This is my first attempt at a theme. This was done for my own use and was never intended for sharing. But, I've noticed a few people have asked for less purple. In fact, about the only color you'll find is Blue.
As always, flash at your own risk.
Many thanks to:
Ruger94 for all his patience and quick responses to ALL my many questions
Johnsondr80 for this awesome rom
S39
and 10tonhammer for walking me through the pulldown animation
Download Blue Fusion here:

Revert here:

Again, this is my first attempt. Any constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated
The only known issues thus far is the status bar force closes once right after boot. let things settle, media scanning and what not, and everything will be fine.
LOVE this Theme!
Wowza What an amazing theme!!! Thank you Mr. Wacker for putting this together for us!
Hey talleywhacker - I see what was meant by Contacts in the dialer - you got the little strip of blue on bottom to match - hahahaha - Great job. The force close thing on the status bar.... where you working from an i9000 file? I don't think I've seen that happen before. Looks great - I can tell you did a lot of work.

I think the biggest reason for the status bar is the how big the systemui became when i added the animation to the pulldown. I dont think its the status bar force closing so much as its just taking a minute for media scanning to catch up. Im working something totally different and if i add an animation to the pulldown i will have to decrease it a bit. Thanks for the compliments. Between the two us and what ruger has has put out there shouldnt be anymore complaints of "too much purple"

I updated to Fusion VI and put on your Blue Theme immediately! Tried to add someone to contacts and everything froze up. Possible conflict with the Fusion update? I'll try it one more time and let you know.
Don't believe it is your theme. Reflashed the update and contacts not working right without reloading the Blue Fusion theme.
Blue Fusion is not the issue, it's the Contact APK they switched to. When I replaced with stock contact apk all is well.
Looking forward to Green Fusion!!
Are you actually running Fusion on your phone? If so, are you getting random reboots too? I get about one a day and it's getting frustrating because I really want to try your green theme when it comes out.
Love the Theme
Talleywhacker, great job on the theme. I am running it right on top of Fusion VI without issue. Kudos to you and The Collective (esp. JohnsonDr80). I love the USB download screens btw.
Still love it. Thanks for the work!

Good to hear its running on Fusion VI. I've been out of town and haven't been able to try it out. As a matter of fact I am running fusion and haven't gotten a single random reboot. [Q] ICS Blue Battery Mod?

Does anyone have a flashable ICS blue battery mod they'd be willing to share? I'm running DarkRaider and the green battery is really the only thing I don't like about it and would like to change to a blue ICS battery.
I keep trying to use the UOT kitchen but every time I've checked there over the last couple of days it's been saying it's full so I can't try to use that.
I'd be willing to try building a flashable battery mod myself if someone could point me in the direction of some good instructions that I could use. I have photoshop and am willing to take the time to learn is that's the only route to getting there.

I don't see a "Boston choice" in the theme Options section? All I see are:
-Stock HTC ICS (sense w/ lingering ICS blue)
-Sensitized Stock (sense with removed ICS blue, All HTC Green)
-ICSense (sense made mostly ICS blue. Best w/ NonSense)
Has anyone tried the ICSense with the Sense option? The reason I use this ROM is because I really like the Sense experience plus the few tweeks he's built in. I'm sure there's a reason he's stated this is best with NonSense so I would like someone who's maybe to tried it to let me know what issues it causes?
I used the ics theme option with sense and had no issues
Thanks guys. I'll give the theme a shot and see if I encounter any issues. I'd still like to learn status bar icon mods if someone has a good link.

framework-res.apk is all that's needed for batteries, but if you're going to do other things, you may need other system files

Not so sure it is a launcher specific setting, as it was a setting in aokp no matter which launcher you used. After a quick Google search, I found about 30 tutorials how to do it using apktool to edit systemui.apk.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085118
Since it edits they system files, no launcher will probably ever do it, it will have to be programmed into a custom ROM. Or you can mod it yourself. If you need any help using apktool, feel free to ask.

The only launcher and the only way you can get the things you desire, is with Holo Launcher HD, it is based and pulled right from 4.1.1 AOSP, and works ecatly like the stock one. But you have more settings to play with. One is to remove the staticsearchbar that you dont like..:good:
Check it out If you dont like it, then you can get the fu.... out and stop make everything so damn hard.

congrats on not listening to anything I said... you have to edit system files, it is not a launcher thing!! And no one has done it for JB yet, but if you do want it, you should use AOKP ICS or PA ICS. Or I can do it for you on an ICS based ROM, but this mod just doesn't exist yet in JB. A lot of the code changed with Project Butter which makes things faster but are a bit more complicated.
Now the drawer can be transparent and there is a mod for that. Here is a guy who is a big themer and he claims that currently transparent status bar cannot be done in JB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30823878&postcount=11

Why don't you just use the "expand desktop" feature in Paranoid.
Nexus S. (GSM i9020a)
Paranoid Android (2.0 - 4.1.1)
Marmite Kernel (4.5 - Bedalus)
Smartassv2 (Screen On) (800/200)
Ondemmand (Screen Off) (400/100)
Deep Idle (N/A - Deadline)
BLX (98 - Inverted Apps)
Black Exodus (Stock Voltage)

I'm on PA at the moment.
The feature removes the statusbar, I'm searching for something different, i.e. a trasparent bg of the status bar: signal, battery, alarm and other notifications should appear over the desktop image.

Is this why we have bootloops when flashing a modified framework-res.apk?
My response to the request was going to be simply that as far as I know, nobody has managed to recompile framework-res without causing bootloops, and until that's resolved, we're not going to see much real theming for T/V. Without the option to edit 9.png's and xml's, there's no way to modify - among other things - popups, most buttons, tabs, color values, text styles, etc. I've mentioned this issue in the apktool thread but gotten no response, I guess the next thing I'll do is report it as an issue on their website.
Sent from my LT25i using xda premium
There are quite a few things that can be modified without touching framework-res, like nav bar buttons (which has been done already), background image/color and status bar things like text color, center clock, toggle buttons. Also, we could modify one of the stock Sony themes to get a little closer. It wouldn't be real AOSP but I think we can get pretty close. Let me know if this is acceptable and I'll give it a try.

I shouldn't have said "no real theming", because not only is that being too negative and a bit over-dramatic, but it takes away from the work that people have already done and are doing now. So apologies for that!
And sorry for the OT.

Removing the dock bar is easy but it's a little too late here to go into that now. Modifying framework-res is a no-go, at least not in the easy re/decompile way.
I've made a little package with my modifications. I know some people have already done bits of this but it felt better doing it all in one go from scratch. All files are taken from galaxy nexus and nexus 4 factory images (jzo54k and jdq39). This has small nav bar buttons from recoba23 and lidroid power widget by peetr_, modified a bit by me. Made a custom theme to better fit the jelly bean blue color and wallpaper + lockscreen background. Replaced the app background with just plain black. Nexus bootanimation. Added AOSP launcher. You can get the AOSP lockscreen by renaming/deleting UxpNxtLockscreen.apk but it doesn't look right, there was some kind of weird bar at the bottom
Let me know what you think could be better or feel free to customize it. Maybe we should start a new thread or change the title because it's not really a request anymore
