[Q] IMEI number is invalid !! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm Using Now JB Rom And That Message Come To Me
A problem was detected with your device. Your device IMEI number is invalid. An invalid IMEI number Could cause network issues including the inability to call emergency numbers.
And By the way If I Flashed ICS It Work Fine With No Problem
I Don't Know Why This Problem Show In JB Roms
Any Ideas ?

CyanogenMod10 (JellyBean) is checking the validity of the device's IMEI during startup; ICS doesn't do that.
Try to restore your efs folder from your backup.
If you don't have a valid backup (i.e., same fake IMEI like 0049... is generated), you should install Samsung stock Gingerbread firmware. That should generate the proper IMEI. Backup the efs folder, so you can restore your IMEI incase it gets lost again after having JB installed.

Thanks I Will Try That

Hi itamarsea, have you tried checking settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks/access point names
check if your settings are stored for 3 network.
Or check settings/ about phone/ status/ IMEI
check that IMEI number is still the same.
re setting
imei-unknown
network-unknown
imei sv-unknown
phone no-unknown
Type
*#06*
in dialer and see what number comes up.
Also what firmware are you on, jv1?
Type in *#1234# for firmware info.
It could just be a corrupt install. Iv flashed 2.3 on my sgs with odin about 5 times and tried about 3 2.3 roms and iv had no problems (Other than some buggy memory handling)
pda xwjn1
phone unknown
csc unknown
2.3 is beta A greek word for unfinished .
Factory reset that fails
Flash different rom via Odin .
You started at step two of flashing i presume and failed to backup your efs folder .

Same thing on my phone, I flashed one JPM firmware with odin and nothing, tried with gingerbread and nothing... any info would help. thnx in advanced
Hi,
I have the same issue: NO SIM CARD!
My phone is locked and today I wanted to try insert another sim card, just to see if the message: "Insert the unlock code..." appears. After this, I noticed it's not working, so I put back the original sim card and realized that I have no network and got this notification message: NO SIM CARD.
I checked the IMEI code and it's the same, any hints, tips?
Is there some kind of problem with my sim?
If anybody can help me, I'd be more than grateful.
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: I9000XXJPY
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 (Voodoo stable 5.4.1)
Build number: Darky's v9.3.XWJS5
As a few people mentioned before it's a beta rom so it contains bugs. This may be one of them. If your imei isn't a lot of 0 you probably won't have problem after they fix this bug

IMEI appears as unknown even after flashing darkys rom os a stock rom :S
I don't know how the Galaxy S stoores the imei, but my spica uses the efs partition for it, and this partition doesn't change when you reflash a rom (even if you used odin).

EFS file may change after flashing a rom enough posts on here about it .
Rule one of flashing is to backup your efs folder .
Copy backed up efs to phone to fix
Probable fix as you have flashed custom roms is to use Odin and flash stock rom that may fix your efs .

Stock rom doesn't fix the efs. There is a guy at samdroid.net who can restore Spica's imei, maybe you should ask him if he is able to do it with your phone. Check out this url: http://forum.samdroid.net/f28/complete-imei-restore-how-1817/

Flash back to stock KK4 (without bootloaders). That should fix your IMEI problem.
To avoid further problem, once on KK4, make a backup of your efs folder. Which can be used if it ever happens again.
You'll have to work your way back up to CM10 from KK4. As always, follow the full instructions.

RIL problem

hi after flashing cm 10.1 and then gapps, my phone stopped showing the pin code screen and even was not able to search my network. i also tried flashing back to gb but in vain. what can i do?
thx to reply asap
no signal, no imei...
as stated above, my phone does shows that imei is unknown, there is no signal and baseband is also unknown. while searching google i found that the problem came from the efs folder. can somebody send me their .nv_data file plz? or will it be possible to restore the efs folder?
unfortunately, i didn't backup the efs folder as i didn't know that this would happen one day!
As pushing efs from someone else's phone will give you that person imei I guess it will be hard to find someone who will give it to you.
There is one thread with investigation of possible fix (finding location and exact file where imei is stored - so guys like you can edit this file to force imei back to the phone)

I successfully restored my phone signal and my imei. But know I have a xxxx for baseband. help me plz

[Q]Samsung Galaxy Tab Unknown IMEI

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab SGH-T849 that I attempted to upgrade. On the About device screen, it has the following information:
Model number GT-P1000
Firmware Version 2.3.3
Kernel version 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build n umber GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
Now comes the problem
Baseband version Unknown
Then on the status page, it has
IMEI Unknown
IMEI SV Unknown
Nearest I can tell, the EFS folder has nothing in it. I was very stupid and didn't create a backup.
Is there any way I can fix this?
Just flash a stock ROM using Odin.
For example the overcome GB-stock-safe-v5.

I tried following the “Re-”Stocking” procedure in the installation guide. I went all the way through step 9. Still nothing in the efs folder/directory. Feeling dumber by the minute

Re-do it again.
Up to step 6 is what matters.
After restock, let it boot completely and check the phone status.
What is the IMEI now, is it 35XXXXX
Maybe you just can't see your /efs
Ran through step 6 again. The IMEI number is still unknown. I used the TMobile modem since it was a TMobile device.
Since I wasn't getting anywhere with getting the imei back, I tried loading I9003_EFS_ODIN_BLANK_TEMPLATE.tar. I know have the following files in the efs directory
nv.log
nv_data.bin
imei
nv_data.bin.md5
I now have a 0049*********** IMEI rather than a 0035*********** number. I tried re-installing the GB_Stock_Safe_v5 and still have the invalid IMEI.
Any suggestions?
No idea.
When you flash GB stock safe with Odin, you use pit file and choose repartition, right?

I've done that several times. At least now that I have some sort of IMEI, the GPS is working. Just can't get it to pick up the real IMEI number or the serial number.

mi3 invalid imei and baseband unknown

Hi, after flash a rom, my mi3 doesn't detect baseband and my imei invalid. I tried to flash miui using fastboot (clear cache, data, everything using MI Recovery. Flashed dev global, stable and local roms) but still not fixed. I also tried using QPST but the memory dump is too small so I stopped. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thanks
Do you have a backup ROM using CWM? Because I had this problem before but it was fixed by restoring my previous CWM back up.
Have you seen the thread on MIUI.com about fixing IMEI on Mi3?

Ty for reply. I have done that many times but it seems that my nvram is corrupted. I dont know how but all the settings and configurations are empty including imei number. I flashed more than 10 times stock rom with different method and my baseband is back. Still the imei is missing. Then, I try to fix the imei by looking at the nvram memory dump. I injected my old imei (from mi3 service card) then the imei is back. Somehow, still no services.
I think that my nvram is badly corrupted due to random error in flashing. This is my first time having this issue because other phone (Sony Xperia) i have can easily fixed by flashing the stock rom. If only I have the hex file to compare. By the way, the memory dump is about 150kb. Too small isn't it?
Hmmm. . . . . Seems you need a really hard flash on that. You'll need to go to a service center for that.
try wiping cache data and then flash rom.
