CSC problem after flashing XXLRQ - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Probably a noob question:
I was on Hong Kong firmware, and recently flashed Open Germany XXLRQ.
However, my CSC is still TGY, which makes that I can't receive any upgrades via KIES.
What will be the best way to get the CSC to DBT? Reset the phone (I know the risk) or should I flash a separate CSC file?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Use code: *#272*IMEI# and change the DBT.
After changing the code, you will lose data (wipe)

on a followup from the instruction above, Make sure you have a multi CSC one, or else you don't have that option of choosing-DBT at all.

Do it from gb not from ics as you can brick because the process does wipe

I've downloaded the FW directly from FUS with Checkfus.
And if I do the *#272*IMEI#, the only option i see is TGY.
Should I flash another FW?

JP

Hi Dr.!,
Thanks. I flashed it (successfully), but still only TGY to choose from...
Should I take any other steps?
Cheers,
J.P.

It means CSC flashed but cudn't apply, it may be due to multiple issue. Flash safe kernel and wipe cache and delveic cache. Some user reported me, it was worked with old version of Mobile odin. but may be coincidence as he has wipe too. so wipe cache and flash same file i have attched it should be work
And are you sure you have flashed for CSC tab with PC odin, not PDA.

Yes, I've flashed CSC, not PDA.
Ok, I will flash a safe Kernel and wipe the caches, then flash again.
After that I'll let you know if it worked.

Faced the same problem.
Solution:
1. Flash your region's stock firmware using PC Odin (Mobile Odin doesn't change CSC)
2. Root
3. Flash safe kernel (e.g. Hydracore)
4. *#272*IMEI#
5. Choose your region
6. Flash stock firmware again
7. Perform OTA

Still Not :crying:

Best way reflash ROm with PC odin.

No need for all this flashing business...

Replace t with q's where needed.

I managed to do it even simpler, although it's risky business: I did a factory reset (I'm not rooted and fully stock) and hey: CSC is now DBT. Funny thing is, with *#272*IMEI#, I still can't select any other country code. But about that, I don't mind KIES allows me to upgrade again, so I'm happy with the solution.

That wat i said, it is flashed but cudn't applied and wipe data solved issue. I think flashing cache should work now.

[Q] How to restore I9000 stck ROM?

I am now using MIUI ROM, and I am planning to go back to samsung i9000 stck rom so that the kies can read again the phone... any here knows how to do it.
Thanks in-advance.
Download a rom with a proper CSC code from samfirmware (mine is ITV for instance, wich means no-brand italian phone) and flash it using Odin with repartition ticked and the right .pit file.
Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache before and after flashing.
thanks i will try thst

[Q] Unknown CSC

My CSC was XEU.
I was able to upgrade to XXLA4 stock rom fine. Then I flashed ZSLA2. Now my CSC is unknown and my keyboard types out null on every letter.
My phone is rooted and I don't see /system/csc folder.
I tried flashing back to XXLA4, still the CSC is unknown. I tried flashing just the cache using mobile odin, with XXLA4, still no luck. I also tried with the XXLA3 multi-csc file and still no luck.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks

Simple...join the club and flash a custom rom
See the thread in general in LA2. I posted a CSC zip from it to manually flash from recovery on internal sd. This will sort you out.
just reflash the csc file, if you search its well documented
Why not use the sgs csc selector from the market.. It will work just fine. . If u have the stock l4 rom new choose the dbt csc.. Changing the csc will always factory reset ur phone. But give it a try

Hi yes I did look at that. So how do you flash in recovery?
When I get into recovery mode, tt was saying applying Multi-Csc but can't access system/csc/XEU/csc. Then you can choose different options using the volume button. One of the option is "update from sdcard". Is that it?
Can I use the zip file as is? Do I have to rename it?
EDIT: Figured it out.
Thanks

[Q] Flashed N7000XXLQ2 but no CSC?

Hi there!
I have flashed N7000XXLQ2 with mobile ODIN as downloaded from SamFirmware. All seemed well until i got the NULL keyboard error. After *#1234# it appears that CSC: Unknown
Is there a vlaid CSC file within the N7000XXLQ2_N7000XXLPT_N7000XEULP4_HOME.tar file? How do I manually extract the CSC or should i try getting it from another source?
I am literally selecting the tar file in mobile odin and letting it do the rest....
But I have moved CSC which I think is part of the problem. If so, where/how do I get a CSC XEU file that i can flash in recovery?
Thanks!
I had all sorts of issues getting the CSC back when I flashed that ROM, flashing a multi CSC file and wiping from within the device (on a safe kernel, though I think it was risky even with that in place) that was the only way I could get it to change/go back.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk 2
Just extract the tar file with 7zip till you have 3 files. The one labelled "cache" is the csc. Reflash that with a safe kernel as above poster said as it will do a full wipe.

I tried flashing the cache.img but that did not work in both mobile odin and recovery. I have not used CWM though.
Just flash CSC with same full ROM file
Ope PC odin, select CSC tab, point to Full ROM file , leave rest of field as it is and Flash.
Note: This (any method mobile odin/CWM/PC odin) will wipe your device, as well you shud know wiping data is not safe on ICS.
Fantastic - simply works like a charm...apart form losing root but I'll just have to go and get that back!
Thanks,
John
If i get a null error from keyboard all i do is i just reflash the rom and everthing is fine again.

Just update.
I also done same as you mentioned to correct CSC error.
Phone get fully flashed since you pointing whole rom file under CSC on PC ODIN.
I lost root and rerooted again with PhilZ-cwm6 under ICS.
But this is the easy way of overcome keyboard null problem due to CSC error.
Thanks for direction.

Hello,
On my GT-3110, I am running ROM][P3110][Jelly Bean 4.1.1] kwbr Expresso, and I wanted to add an exit button to the stock browser by adding a line in others.xml in CSC folder. Then, I noticed that I don't have CSC folder. I searched and I came to your post.
I have the rom zip of ][P3110][Jelly Bean 4.1.1] kwbr Expresso. So, I wanted to do what you say. (flashing with CSC checked), but I cannot flash a zip file with Odin, it seems. What is the best solution to have a CSC folder? Maybe I am missing something basic...Can you give some advice?
PS: I looked in the rom zip, and there seems to be no CSC folder. So, I suppose I need to change the rom...
PS2: Well, I installed stock rom and backed up the csc folder and the 2 files, by copying them to SD card. Then, I installed stock rooted debloated and deodexed rom (which I found in the meantime, but which has no CSC folder), and I simply copied back the csc folder and the 2 files. Then, I edited feature.xml. As a result, I have an exit button in my stock browser now. I don't know what I did is correct, but at least I have an exit button.

[Q] How to injetc CSC XEF on ICS 4.0.4 for UK

Instructions on how to change CSC
Hi mate
That rom your using has the 'Multi CSC' or should have as I used it last week to check for the 'XEU' setting.
Anyway..here is instruction copied from another thread for you.
It is possible, but you would need to be on a rom that supports multi CSC's. (I believe stock doesn't support it.)
1) Find the IMEI# of your Galaxy Note. Just go to Settings –> About phone –> Status and look for the IMEI# number and note it down.
2) Type *#272*Device IMEI# in the dial pad of your device.
Example (*#272*xxxxxxxxxxxxxx#)
3) Now select the desired CSC. (Changing your CSC will completely wipe your phone)
4) Your device will automatically reboot afterwards.
5) After that connect your device to Kies and should say a firmware update is available.
I find that when you do the following, the CSC may be the same as it was before you changed it, so
Reboot into CWM recovery and wipe cache partition & clear dalvik and REBOOT
Check CSC again and it will be as you wanted it !!
:good::good:
There's a couple of files if you need them - Multi CSC from 4.0.3 / 4.0.4
You use the files via ODIN on your PC, when opened up choose the 'PDA' box and flash
Or you can use 'Mobile Odin' app on your phone to flash the Multi CSC file
thanks, i try this.
Erm, Whoah
Didn't you say you were on Stock ICS? Your phone will perform a full wipe and thus possibly become a brick.. (I have not tried but any FULL WIPE in ICS STOCK is dangerous,,)
I think brick with full wipe with custom kernel.

No, Full Wipe / Factory Reset with STOCK ICS Kernel..
Most ICS Custom Kernels and others now have the command triggering the bug removed, however, for the safest way I only wipe / reset in GB..
---------
Reinbeau asked me to summarize the situation with ICS leaks in a way that can be stickied, so here it is:
DO NOT FLASH OR WIPE USING ANY ICS REPACK OR STOCK KERNEL
Not even wiping in stock recovery is safe with affected kernels. Almost all ICS kernels for the GT-N7000 are affected. Only two are currently known to be safe - see the list below.
----------------
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633938
The only way to safely be on a desired CSC is to revert back to GB, set the CSC thru the *#272* code method, then factory reset, then flash ICS stock for your region.
I used this method on advice of dr. Ketan. Be sure to use a stock ICS with built in multi CSC

I made a mistake yes.
Full wipe only with franco or abyss ok.
But in this case the wipe is made because of changing the csc. It's not the same thing i think.
No ICS 4.0.4 for france now. An other way is to flash french ics LQ3 and update to XLR.
Its the kernel doing the wiping, different trigger but still wiping best not risk it

[Q] tph not xeu?????

hi, when i upload the xeu xxlt9 rom via odin it loads fine but when i plug the phone into kies it says my region is tph (portugal) not not xeu (europe)
why?
kies now says my device isn't supported
thanks
lee
Paste a screenshot of Kies. There could be a csc missmatch after flashing the rom.
or efs corruption
or your rooted
or your pcode is mismatching the csc
or you inbloated a bunch of stuff
so many variables lol

screenshot.
you are not rooted and not running a custom kernel?
check your csc by dialing
*#272*your imei here#
your emei you can find by dialing *#06#
your cscs should be the same as rom.
change will wipe your phone so backup all you want to keep.
Change csc and try again.
doesnt work.
root, backup efs to computer
dont know code to get pcode on JB.
which is why we go back to gb.
In recovery flash Phillz kernel, in his thread first post explained how.
Take out external sd card.
bootback into recovery
choose factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik somewhere in menu advanced I think
go to mounts
format all, you took out external so you get error at one which you can ignore.
this is clean downgrade to gb
go to download mode and flash via pcodin (seek drdketans guide) the gb rom with csc you want.
After check your csc again.
then check pcode by dialing *2767*4387264636#
its the code which starts with n7000
that should match your rom. If it doesnt not sure if it will work. It never did for me via Kies.
Anyway if that, imei and csc aligned and not root or custom kernel, not unbloated(removed stock apps) then I was able to update via Kies.
Sometimes I just need to delete kies and every reference in registry to make it work.
I suggest before you try all above, except for backing up efs on off phone, to just pcodin your choice of firmware(either from drketans thread, or sammobile)
Because it just to much work lol.

the csc was set to tph so reset it to xeu using *#272*imei# and all sorted.
many thanks for the advice.
much appreciated.
