That's awesome, noticeable over stock? I'm on the fence about rooting and doing a custom rom/kernel because of how fast it is out of the box. Ususally I cant wait to throw a custom rom on with the phones, but i'm having a hard time justifying wiping my device to go slightly faster when everything is still so smooth lol

I completely agree. I've spent a while setting everything up and it runs flawlessly. I am stock rooted with a custom kernel, but as far as ROMs go, I see no reason to flash one personally. I'm doing the same thing with my GS3. I feel like Android is finally at a place where you don't need to flash ROMs for usability. Even for features I feel like stock has plenty. This is all my opinion, though. YMMV.

I'd like to know this too. I just received mine and find it so smooth compared to other Android devices I've had in the past. Other than adblock I'm finding it really tough to justify a reason to root this. I'll probably leave it a few months...

Yea I like how well this runs out of the box, most of the roms for some reason don't seem as smoove as stock and lag more the only other Rom I use would be bugless beast but even still stock is amazing

Go ahead and at least unlock the bootloader as soon as you get it, though, so you don't lose everything when you unlock it later. It takes about 30 seconds.
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot oem unlock
Confirm, and done.

Just because you're a trinity fanboy doesn't mean trinity is "better". Faux and morfic are both amazing kernel devs and aim for different goals in their kernels.
It's very disrespectful to bash other developers, especially when you're just someone who knows how to flash a zip and install an app.

[Q] Which is the most stable rom for Galaxy Note

One of my friends wants me to root and flash a new rom to their Note but I have no idea which rom (ICS or GB) is the best.
Now before anyone flames me I just want to ask your opinions on the latest developments. Clearly I am asking for opinions. I also do not currently have this device.
Sent from CM9 Cornerstone Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Rocket gb is the most stable.
All GB Roms are very stable, and you won't go wrong if you flash any of them.
OTOH, ICS is not so stable and requires high user maintenance and fixing. I'd stay away from early ICS releases if I were you.

Cool thanks. Any recommended Rom aside from the one mentioned before as in what makes you go to it. I do understand about AOSP Roms and how unstable they can be in the beginning. Also is anyone planning to port CM9 to the note?

Maui is one taking care of CM9 port.. as of now there is no official leak yet. so once the leak is out then the development ll begin and the ROM ll be in hands soon.

Well, basically there are two types of custom GB roms ATM.
1. Light ones (much of the Samsung and other crapware removed)
They are fast and battery efficient. Some users don't like them because of the missing features. I prefer them, though: anything you need can be installed after flashing.
The light Roms are
Cassie's XL
Chrack's Small
2. Full Roms containg almost everything a stock Rom has
These Roms are somewhat (but not much) slower than the light ones, and their batter life can be slightly shorter if you do not monitor what your multitude of apps is doing behind your back, if you get my drift.
You'll find a full list of Note Roms with links here:

As I said before this isn't for me I personally don't have a note but am doing this for a friend and I know aosp ics is a little too unstable on anything for me to flash it to a device that I don't own. So that being said I will probably stick with gb unless they really want ics.

If it helps, I'm going to update my ROM to JB today, but of course you can choose any ROM you wish...
Most ROMs here are stock based, and therefore are very similar.
If you want AOSP then go for CM10, if you like the Sony interface, go for one of the stock based ones.

I never recommend a rom, its personal choice.
Try some out and see which you prefer. There are lots to try and a good rom for one person is a bad rom for someone else.
If you want to be told which rom to use, why dont you just use the one Sony says you have to use and stick with stock

well i unlocked+rooted+ changed the rom miself(the tuts around here are quite kinda very @-) ) ....
and also I've installed this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026918 .
also I know that Sony XDA doesn't have alot of devs..so only simple things..
i has an ONE X but changed it with Xperia T (had also Xperia S) .
Like everything else, it's a very subjective question.
Here's my 2 pence worth.
Coming from a galaxy s2, the dev on Xperia t is limited at best. Nevertheless, I've tried crazybuild, xperiment, PAC, jellybam thus far.
Sony stock has too much bloat ware for me, but it has some nice touches like the small apps.
For customisation and features I prefer the jellybam rom, however, it has many issues I.e inadequate camera app, not all toggles work etc.
I'm personally waiting for a stock rom with cm/aokp mods.

Regarding the speaker noise, I've never used handsfree during a call, will see if I can try this evening and tell you later.

It depends on your priorities. For me the small navigation buttons, battery percentage customization, and home button swipe gestures are great features that I really miss in the stock rom. And I never use hands free while on the phone, so AOKP (or rather its port KangXperia) is great for me.
I was hoping to flash phandroid like my phone to look pretty, but use hand free often so no go for me

I'm willing to do testing, if you still need testers. Excited for CM to be coming and will definitely follow this as it goes a long.

In time, CM will have as many features as stock does right now. Having the option is great. I've actually come to love TW over the last year, but I still enjoy diving into CM/AOKP and all the other AOSP based ROM's.
Some would rather features be few and functional than plenty and gimmicky. None are wrong, just different.

Fortunately we have backups and can go from completely stock and professional to heavily modded and tweaked in a matter of minutes.
Okay. The display issues seem to not be solveable with stock kernel. I'm starting the source kernel side but the patch is originally about 115,000 lines long. I've been at removing junk forabout an hr and got through 10%... but was able to cut quite a bit. Then by 30% have only cut 10% out as junk. Looks like there are tons of changes for the GPU not yet in Code Aurora Forum.

you named a few "bests", which i disagree with you. they are best for you, and your device, and no more than that. and, you mention supercharged, how are you going to show us that its "super charged" any more than any other combination. personally, ive found other rom/kernel combos to be faster/quicker than that combo.

being happy with your setup is all that you can ask for, and that is great for the op. but im not trolling, im being realistic. if you post something online, you have be ready for posts that agree with and disagree with you. my point was that there is no best rom/kernel, there is only a best rom/kernel for your person device, and your own personal needs. all our devices differ and all our needs differ. so his best setup can turn out to be someone elses worst setup.

Yes, I tried it, its based on CM11 if im not wrong. But as I said before, Im on Macay ICS CM9 since more than a month now, this means I found this Rom very very useful. Before I flashed every 2-3 days, sometimes even twice a day, I tried many many Roms but this is just Great. Smooth, Stable, Bugless, with longest batery life comparing with Roms before. You can give a try, and you'll see. Hope to like it (if you decide to try it)

You can give a try, and you'll see. Hope to like it (if you decide to try it)
Good luck.

Exactly.. It's not like I opned a thread in which I asked "What is the best rom out there?".
Roms come in many shapes and specifications..
Nothing wrong in getting advices from more expirienced users
BTW, It is kinda anti-Intuitive to go back to ICS.. Any missing features from JB or Kitkat? Or does it feel the same?

So there is no need for this forum I guess.. huh?
Can't I get an advice? Why should I try 100 different roms if someone can direct me? I would never thought on going back to ICS or trying this rom that Milot suggested.
Seriously, mind your own buisness please..

I see you can read.
Whatever man.

Some things are missing, but for example "doubletap to sleep" you can use an xposed module for that and works great, Center clock and battery styles, and many other tweaks you can use Xblast tools (xposed module). The only thing I cant find was "Clear all button" on recent app list, but you can swipe one by one...
Im really satisfied with this Rom, based on features of Galaxy S i9000, (for me at least) this was best so far.

Mod Edit
Whichever way you word it...
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
