[Q] Custom kernel & incall volume - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I was just curious, is it possible with custom kernel to get louder incall volume. On stock kernel the volume is pretty low, much lower than other phones. Tried it on official rom, and several custom roms. Always same results, I mean, I can hear the person I'm talking to but only in a quiet environment, the volume is on max setting of course. Didn't really want to play with kernel but if it could help with the issue I would take the chance.

It's obvious that you have a damaged speaker.. Plug in earphones and see if it's still low..

u should clean Speaker hole(small in left) with pin then it will blow sound. . same problem was with me after clean or very small hole on left site of speaker section now i can hear well

[Q] Speakerphone/Earpiece Quiet after CWM

HI All,
I've noticed for some time now that before I flash a new ROM, when I go back to stock JF6 the audio in the boot up screen will blow your doors off. After flashing CWM, the audio is there but it is must less pronounced. I've also noticed that while using the speakerphone or the earpiece during regular calls, I struggle to hear the caller on the other end. It's fine before I flash CWM.
Anyone run into this before and if so, what can be done about it?
Thanks in advance!
Dan
I too have been wondering about the volume. I thought it was the rom I was running. I'm currently on phoenix 4.5 with firebird 2 v0.7 kernel. It seems like my volume is lower when I call another cell but fine if I call a land line.

i noticed this too. i use speakerphone alot, and it IS quieter now i use custom roms, and i use speakerphone MORE NOW because the earpeice is hard to hear.
Fix for Low Ear Peice abd Speaker Volume
I am not a programmer but I was wondering with all the talent on this site why is it impossible to have a fix for the terrible in-call volume the Captivate has. I have tried the settings in the service menus, but havent seen anything worth while.
Non of those settings stay past a reboot anyway.
The phones hardware is able to output the louder sound, I dont understand why we cant fix the low in-call volume on the earpeice and the speaker phone?
HELP!!!!!!
this post beat you by a few hours and is a little more specific/accurately worded (your post isnt a fix)

Thread merged with a similar one. I think the poster above U is asking a question (interrogative icon) and not stating he is posting a fix.
Cheers,
I noticed that it's CWM that is killing the audio (for me at least) before I flash a new ROM.

[Q] Low Audio on Nexus One

Hello
I got one Nexus One with last oficial update.
When I used the audio cable or the bluetooth the sound is OK, but when I use the phone directly on my ear, the sound is too low... Can anyone help???
cyanogen ROM has the audio boost which makes a world of difference. you really need to just flash a kernel with the audio hack enabled.
But is this a normal problem from Nexus One? Or it´s better to send it to warranty?

Its normal for most of us. I need a ROM/Kernel with the Audio Boost too, but some people say they don't.
I have the same issue since I picked mine up when froyo came out. I deal with it since i don't make many calls. If it is too loud to hear a call I just use speaker phone (maybe adjust the volume and hold it backwards up to my ear even). Bluetooth and speaker phone seem fine. However I am considering loading Cyanogenmod 7 once there is a final build.
You can use the DSP Manager and boost treble, HTC doesn't like bass like nokia

its basically normal. just about all HTC phones come with audio that is too low out of the box. the audio boost hack originally made it so loud that over 50% volume would blow out your ear hole. then they lowered it slightly to make it about perfect.
stock volume will always be low and there's nothing you can do about it without installing the kernel with audio boost.
Many thanks to all!
I will use a cable audio, its the best....
Regards!
Can anyone suggest any 'good' solution? kernel or otherwise to fix this $#@$# 'bug' of low in-call volume in Nexus One??
Would really appreciate all the help!

Try this
Go to settings > call settings > set equalizer to bright , disable voice enhancement.
and then hear the in call volume, u will be surprised
PS. After disabling the mic noise suppression, mic quality increases.

It's a little late to ask this but, could you solve your low call volume problem?
I have the same low volume trouble with my Xperia Go while making phone calls. The phone is good and still operable after years but i always had call problems. The in-call volume is too low, i can't hear the person clearly especially in noisy places. We used Sony Ericsson K750, w800 phones in the past and they also had low volume in calls. And i see that there are still some Sony users which complain about this same problem like us.
If you solved this issue, could you please let me know?
Thanks in advance. :good:
I don't know what XZ you guys have, but mine is too loud and I didn't do anything to it related to sound. In fact I'm quite annoyed that the phone is too loud when I have a conversation, thus everyone around me being able to hear. I always have to lower the volume to the minimum and it's still too damn loud.
Is there anything that can lower the volume, not make it go up??
I've even disabled the MusicFX and Audio Settings but it's still too loud..

Really?
I almost thougt that it was a Sony characteristic, to limit the volume to some certain level which is low, when compared to other brands (maybe for avoiding to damage the ears?). When i search the web with "sony xperia low call volume" parameters, i see there are lots of complaints about different phones from Sony (NOT just XperiaZ).
Do we have faulty phones, or do you have really sensitive ears? Can you please compare the sound level with different brand phones also?

mine is XZ C6603 and in-call volume is average. not too low or too loud (using bright equalizer on call setting)
have you try to re flash stock firmware? if yes, maybe you have faulty phone

[Q] Louder earphone call volume

The calls volume seems too low for me, especially in noisy environments.
Looks like there are many ways to amplify the external speaker or the headphones output, but no way to increase the earphone calls volume. I've tried Viper4, Extra_Volume_Booster in both flavors, but no improvement. At the best it modifes the internal speaker or the headphones, but no improvement to the earphone volume.
Any possibility to increase the volume of the calls volume in the earphone speaker?
Thank you guys.
SONY Xperia SP 5303, 12.1.A.1.205, rooted
When in call you can make the phone go a bit louder by using the volume keys (it is not much but a bit) also there are some more settings under Settings > Calls/dialer perhaps you can take a look there...
~~ Regards
Thanks mrjraider, but I know that, those are regular features of every phone. Those are all maxed and active.
I was looking for an application or a way to mod the xSP in order to get a louder caller earphone volume.

With an unlocked bootloader and rooted ROM you can use Williams or Doomlords kernel, depending on the ROM you intend to use.
Then install Fauxsound and increase all volumes.
There's really no other option that delivers the same results.
Thanks Gamm!

[Q] Volume and Mic Issues

Hi Guys,
So in short,
I've edited mixer paths and used franco kernel to mic boost - which sorted the MIC issue out.
But earpiece call volume is still too low, even with 5.1 now - has anyone actually found a solution.
Also why does the volume seem to have a mind of its own, it lowers itself at the start of every call and you have to put it back up.
Is there some sort of automatic volume adjustment going on ? Nowhere to turn it off ?
Thanks
DM
No one? Especially the volume lowering itself question.

Guess not.

What exactly did you change to fix the mic issue? I've tried raising the gain and people still can't hear me in a call unless I use speakerphone.
Hey bro - faux kernel and faux sound app

Is there no way to do it using the Franco kernel? If I really need to switch kernels I will in order for people to actually hear me on a call, but I'd much prefer Franco

So I actually tried using that kernel and and for whatever reason with my current ROM it kept crashing System UI so that's a no go. I have volume mic gain at 15 in the Franco Kernel app and people still say I'm far away. This is the only freaking issue I have with the phone.
