hi all.
I'm trying to install whatsapp on touchpad.'ve followed the steps to do the backups made with titanium but when I enter the whatsapp i get a notice saying ..
we can¨t identify your device.please turn off the phone, take out the battery, restart it and try it again
some solucion.he tried everything and I do not get it working.
The TouchPad isnt an official, recognized android device so some apps will tell you so. I dont use whatsapp so I wouldnt know how to fix that. But I would think it would have something to do with your build.prop file. Maybe changing the device name or ID or something
What ROM are you on? It is showing compatible with mine...

Are you able to back up Touchpad apps from Titanium Backup and restore them to the Touchpad? If so, I would guess that copying from phone to tablet is unsupported, at least for WhatsApp.

YES,I can back up from the tablet with titanium but still does not work..
It says that tablets are not supported. I imagine it's a DPI issue...

SGA, you said it's compatible with your ROM; what's your DPI at? Anubis, what's yours at? (Look at /system/build.prop.) Maybe Anubis can mess with his DPI to match SGA's?
If not, maybe try SGA's ROM.
I'm sorry but that is not SGA and DPI
where I can find or look at the tablet?

SGA is the other guy posting here on this thread. DPI is the screen's density setting, and it's short for "dots per inch." SGA said earlier in the thread that WhatsApp was compatible with his ROM. I'm guessing that he's right and your tablet's problem is probably with the DPI setting. Since his works, I thought he could share his DPI setting with you, you could set yours to the same number, and see if WhatsApp will then be compatible. To do that, you would need to change the DPI setting in a file called build.prop, inside /system, to whatever SGA says his DPI is.
ok, thanks.
but as I have read elsewhere, there is no need to modify the DPI, or it must be done because it is the touchpad?

certain, investigate more if I can be solved otherwise, because with this method I'm not sure of doing well.
Install whatsapp and setup account on android PHONE. Install go backup on the same PHONE. Run Go backup on the PHONE, and backup whatsapp. Copy go backup folder from phone sd card to touchpad. Install go backup from play store on touchpad. Run go backup on touchpad and select restore and restore whatsapp and restore. Whatsapp will work now as if in phone.

Hi,
I'm French, and i bought my phone in England (i lived there for few month)
I have a Barclays Bank Account, and i want to use their App on my phone BUT Google Play answer "This Item Can Not Be Installed On Your Device Country"
I know i can use Market Unlocker, but i don't want to ROOT my phone
Can someone who have a Google UK Phone give me the .APK from Google Play ?
You can use the app "App Backup & Restore" to do it !
Thanks a lot :good:
The App Link >>> play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.barclays.android.barclaysmobilebanking&hl=en
I have a uk google play apk.
Edit: if archers zip does not work, try my apk
Installation procedure is in archers post.
I installed it but it's a zip not an apk. I've found it to be hit & miss as to whether you can side-install zips. Some work, some don't. Copy it into /data/apps - might need a reboot.

It doesn't show up in that app, probably because it's a zip not an apk.
Looks like you're stuck with rooting and using Market Enabler. Any reason you don't want to do that? You could unroot immediately after.
Because i just need the .apk and that so easy to have it with application
So if you can give me the .APK it will be okay and i will not need to root / unroot my phone

It isn't an apk, so it doesn't matter what app I use. I did try the app, just so I can say "yes, I tried it", despite knowing it would not work. Even renaming the zip to an apk file doesn't work, which is another hit-and-miss method to get zip files to install.
If you really don't want to root your phone then you may need to forget about having this app.
Stupid question: Can't you just change the exstension to .apk? Wouldn't that work?

All that application does is copy the apk file from /data/apps or /system/apps. If there is no apk file then it won't work. I've come across a few apps that when installed from google play are installed as zip files, but you can't install them on any other device. Rooting or forgetting about it are your two options.
There might well be a second problem anyway. Even if you do, somehow, manage to get the .apk file in original format and install it on your device, you may well find that Barclays block your access based on location. If that is the case then rooting would be your only option anyway.
I don't understand - you've been a member on this site for 4 years, this is the first time you have felt the need to post anything and you are too scared to root your phone! Why are you on a phone developers site?

Rooting wouldn't help much anyway. Barclays apps don't work with root. Even recognises your rooted if you use a temp unroot.

First check the allow install from external sources in the security settings... Then go to tibu settings and search for the backup folder.. There's an option for it..

Will it be issues with the app etc? Theirs only some apps that have data in them which would be good to keep. I still cannot find how to install my apps' I see nothing in restore in TB? Any help would be great. I thought my backup would just show up. I am running the free version btw
Thanks
I guess its batch restore, in app list pres menu button, should be there somewhere.
Or select app, then select restore in popup.
Issues could be:
lag
no deepsleep
force closures of apps
random reboots.
You probably wont get them but if you do, its likely because of restore

I used my backup pro as TB is just so confusing to me. I have apps back with data and all seems fine but I've noticed I cannot see a thing on my external SD card? The folder is empty for some odd reason. Now it manages to locate the folder in TB although I didn't use it to restore ' my sd card seems blank but it cant be as I never formatted a thing. Any idea??
All I did was flash rooted gb rom from stock ics and then installed cm9 rom and external SD is not
Shown in es file exploror
Cheers
yep, check folder mnt, check folders in there, one of them is your external sd
its mnt\emmc and not sdcard\externalsd anymore
They do it differently in cm9

But as you see at another pic, I have formated the internal memory so I have almost the full space.
What can I do?

This happens when you have a cache partitions that's ether to small. Or come from a rom that have symlinked the cache partition. And now have flashed some thing else that don't but still have config files left.
Best and easiest way is normally to do a full wipe and reflash the rom. Use Nvflash or Smartflash and flash the stock firmware and then later the rom you want.
If not you can always symlink the cache partition to a new location your self with a terminal editor on the phone. And make that a script if it the rom support init.d .

Hi all,
My phone just started to show that I have a "low memory" I cannot for example install GNow for ICS (this one e.g. says I have only 3 megabytes available in my /sys/ directory).
does anyone know what the problem is? I didn't have such a problem before on a stock rom even with twice as much applications installed.
The problem is more interesting that I have more than 1,5GB of space available on both memories.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for the suggestion. Will try.
That is very annoying because the phone has a lot of free space to use and now the ROM just downgrades your otherwise high specs phone to a low-end model without any memory.
The annoying thing is that this was a very popular problem with many solutions but you didn't search.

Hi,
I have the 20A on my phone and have unlocked the boot loader today, clockwork recovery is installed and a backup made.
Now I would like to try the Cyanogen 10.1.
Is there a way to keep my settings, contacts and apps?
Or do I have to reinstall everything manually?
I know that I must do a full wipe when moving to CM but the question is if there are backup tools that will save the said data and restore them seamlessly into the new ROM?

I know that I must do a full wipe when moving to CM but the question is if there are backup tools that will save the said data and restore them seamlessly into the new ROM?

Try Titanium Backup(search for it in Play Store, can't copy the because of less then 10 Posts here) for me it's the best Way to make a backup of the complete phone!

You are correct, you need to do a full wipe when moving to CM. Use Titanium Backup to backup your data - just try no to backup/restore any system files. You should be fine with applications, games, etc.
I tried out titan backup and first of all its not free, second it seams to backup each app individually.
I'm rather looking for a backup tool that backs up everything at once and than restores it.

If you pay for TB then it can do batch backups. You have a $500 phone, yet you won't pay $5 for the best backup app there is - doesn't make any sense to me

No I have a 330€ phone (incl. wat).
And I don't have a mobile contract (prepaid) and don't give Google my real name.
But here in Austria we have prepaid credit cards that can be bought and used anonymously I can get one, if the program is really the best there is.
Or can I pay using bitcoins?
The problem is not the value of the money but the electronic fut print its usage lefts behind.

OK, a $430 phone - same principle. And if you are truly worried about your 'electronic footprint' then you should not be using a mobile phone, a computer, a bank account or anything else that has your name, photo or anything else on it.

Sounds perfect :good:
@SimonTS
I'm not unreasonably paranoid.
Whats the good if google knows everything about me.
Have we ditched god and other all seeing all knowing deities only to replace them with real all knowing l seeing entities?
I don't think so.
A person can only them be truly free when it is not being observed by anyone.
The right to anonymous communication is a human right.
Why should we voluntarily give it up to Google or the banking establishment.
I have made it a habit to always strictly separate my off line identity form my on line identity, this gives me true freedom.
The same kind of freedom our politicians have: no true accountability for almost anything.

Ok I have the titanium thing installed.
I see a lot of backup options for various app.
But how do I backup other settings, like contacts eMails, calender?
