devil kernel - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi....im currently using slimbean 2.4 as my ROM and semaphore kernel. those rom is fine and works. but because i like devil kernel so much...im tempting to flash devil kernel to my phone. the question is, is it ok if i flash devil kernel on my phone with slimbean rom...?and if it ok what version of devil kernels that suit my rom..?
thank you so much for your advices.

I am actually more confused! I am using Cm10 and currently on the stock kernel. I am hearing that other kernels would actually make your phone faster. SO i am really confused which one to get and how would i find the differences between stock and custom kernel?

Just read the developers-thread about the kernel you want. there are many people who have already tested the kernels and tell about their experience!
Hope to have helped!
Edit:
cm10 and slimbean are Jelly Bean Roms, so you can use devils JB-Kernels. Latest should be 1.5.2.

But the problem is im not allowed to post in dev thread..coz im nust a beginner..

Just search and read. There are many guys that stood on the same edge as you are right now. You don't have to ask again in a forum when they already answered it for another user.
My suggestion: Read about the recommended kernels in the slimbean thread and flash. Or just try on your own. BUT ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID IF YOU'RE NOT SURE ABOUT COMPATIBILITY.

It is the best friend of every flasher!
But be sure to restore it with the same clockworkmod version. For example: Can't restore a cwm6 backup with cwm5 or lower...cause the system changed.

Just install Hellybean (follow method as described and remember to backup your apps). Based on CM10 with Devil Kernel - its awesome.

[Q] whats the most stable rom now available for P1000

i just rooted my sister's galaxy tab gt-p1000 which is in gingerbread in ages now... being so frustrated she decided to let me root t and install a custom rom, rooting done now my next step is to put a good, smooth, versatile rom into the tab,.. i see some jellybean ,ics roms in the developement and frankly i dont know which one is best. nobody likes ramdom FC's so i hope i can find a rom that is stable too.
query: i was wondering if i flashed the CM9 ics for p1tab. do i just flash straight from gingerbread to cm9 ics? where can i get the gapps too?
You know xda doesn't allow "best rom" question.
You try out the roms and make your own decision.
About flashing ics, you need cwm recovery.
Gapps here
http://goo.im/gapps
Cm9 is ics.
Cm10 is jb.
Grab the right version.

cool... definitly gonna try that one out... what makes this your favorite rom considering its stable?
is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
Sorry but I've closed this thread as has already been said, best/most stable ROM threads have no place on the forums as it's so subjective to opinion. Lots of people have different opinions and also just because a ROM is stable on one device it may not be on another as devices don't react the same.
As suggested try them out for yourself and find the one that's best for YOU as that's what matters
Thanks

[Q] Kernel Help

I'm on the Icy Glitch V14 Kernel at the moment with AOKP ICS Milestone 6.
My current plan is to install the first Milestone release of AOKP JB.
Does anyone know the best kernel to use with JB? I'd like to know the person opinions of a few people, thanks.
Basically I want the most stable possible, with good speed. I don't really want any overclocking though,
Then just use aokp stock kernel that come with it I don't think there any over clocking in it

How do I flash the stock kernel? It's not when just flashing a zip file in the recovery because I had this Icy Glitch kernel BEFORE I ever flashed AOKP and I still have it after AOKP.
Do I just extract the boot.img out of the rom zip and flash it with fastboot?
OK what you need to find out is what is jb stock kernel on jb aokp then you find that kernel they should have a flash zip then go in to recovery and flash it I think they are using cm 10 stock kernel am not for sure tho

Still confused where I'd get that.

That's because glitch was the kernel for aokp. I think you'd be fine staying with the stock kernel. Also, this device doesn't have fastboot.

Oh lol my bad I knew that. I was super tired yesterday haha. I use Odin right?
And wow I didn't realize glitch was the kernel for AOKP. Knowing that makes a lot of sense now.
Just to be sure though... Just flashing the new AOKP will install the new kernel with it correct?

Well no, you probably won't need Odin, only CWM. But yeah, roms always come with their own kernel.

CM 10.1 kernels

Hi
Is it okay to run a cm 10.1 kernel with rocketROM v4,i've been told that the cm 10.1 kernels have fixed the exynos exploit.
Also does the camara still work with this kernel?
Thanks for any help offered

It's not ok because it won't work. Check chasmodo's thread for working combinations of Kernel and Android version.
If you want a JB based Rom (like XXLSA or C) you'll have to wait for an official release from Samsung with a fixed kernel.

Thanks for the response mate, much appreciated.
Can i ask you,is there any rom weather jb or ics based it doesn't matter, that has incorparated into it the exynos exploit fix.
Like i say i'm not fussed, any custom rom that has the fix would interest me.
So i can just flash it and i would be protected from the exynos exploit.
Once again, thanks for your help pal.

First you should look for a kernel with the fix (see MaxFu's kernel, in N4 he has fixed the problem) and then use this kernel in the Custom Rom (ICS) you like. For JB you'll have to wait for Samsung.

Sorry, you won't get an answer from me - I do not even make my normal sarcastic statements about this question .
The best CR is always the Rom you like. So read the OPs for descriptions of the features and choose the one you need.

Also, im on ParanoidAndoird with PIE, and on utackas kernal. Can i just wipe rom and flash trough cwm or is it safer to get back to GB and then reroot and thenm flash with cwm?
thnx in advance
utackas and cm kernels are safe. Try Ultate XXLSC v.5.1 by joosh3.

The kernel you're flashing before installing Rom doesn't matter since with v4 will be replaced by PhilZ 3.1 for XXLS7

[Q] Safest-best- kernel+rom for note gt-n7000?

Hello. i want to sure not to mess with my father's not rooted galaxy note gt-n7000 so my questoin maybe lame but i had a bad experience rooting gs2 and without
i need to know what is the best and the safest kernel for the note. and best custom rom 4.1.2 based on touchwiz
i alredy downloaded Kernel_CM10.1_20130320_n7000_CWM.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397 this will work fine ?
Thank you
If you flash that kernel you will have boot loop for sure that is a cm10.1 ROM kernel not touchwiz. And you have to be rooted to flash. I don't mess with toichwiz to much I use a cm10.1 ROM I build my self and theme my self but in the terms of kernels for touchwiz look into philz kernels they are safe and I do believe they can be flashed from stock recovery and will root the phone. As for ROMs they are all safe. JUST DONT FLASH ANY ROMS FROM STOCK ICS KERNELS. and also if you look into the how to root part of the ROM forum you will find a lot of info. Then just research the different ROMs to see which one is right for your use.

thanks for the info.. :good: ill do more reading .. i dont wanna mess things up..
hope PhilZ Touch will do the work
for TW JB there are only 2 kernels .. .Philz and Speedmod JB
Go for Philz, Best one (My experience) You will get good benchmark results, better battery life. Good rooted phone.

Yeah, for TW JB the best option is Philz kernel and Speedmod kernel. I myself prefer Philz Kernel. Suit yourself with one of both of them..
Any recommendations regarding custom rom? Touchwiz with good battery life 4.1.2

You would have to try them your self, all Rome differ and also depends on your use but tw in general is not to battery friendly IMO that's why I use cm ROMs very battery friendly

i recommend JonROM, It's very smooth and fast (no laggy), It's also has good battery life, using it with speedmod kernel to get the best performance.
