Can the Kindle Fire 7”HD(KFTT) support the OTG?
Does anyone test it?
It didn't work for me. I'm not sure if that means it won't work. Could be the cable. I think the driver modules are loaded in the kernel. If it doesn't work for anyone else I think we'll have to wait till we can load a custom kernel.
Doesn't work. The OTG Usb cable I have works on my GS3 and on my Nexus 7 and does nothing on my kindle. Usb doesn't show up in es file explorer. The Nexus requires root so I assume the fire does also.

did not work for me either, i order the otg cable from amazon and i tried playing today. nothing worked i tried mounting usb for mass storage and ps3 or xbox controllers but they dont work either. eForCity Micro USB Host Mode OTG thats the cable i got.
I did get a Rii Bluetooth mini keyboard and track pad to work. I ordered a case with a Bluetooth keyboard. It doesn't help with storage devices but some peripherals.
I'm now rooted and can confirm that OTG does not work. I installed stick mount and the device does not read my usb drive or sun mouse

OTG fail
have tried several devices with my kindle fire 2 and an OTG cable. Nothing has worked as yet. I am rooted but still running stock rom (cyanogenmod unofficial didn't fire up) with play store. I have tried with different usb devices. 2 otg cables with stick mount.apk with a powered hub still no joy. Has anyone got any other ideas to get this to work?

Will the OTG for GS3 work with kindle fire 2. Thought the GS3 had an extra pin? Hope I don't sound like a noob
Maybe take a look at this for the KF2.

Interesting. I was wondering if it was a power issue. I'll have to round up a powered hub and see if I can get one of my usb drives to work.

Has anyone tried using an usb otg cable with our phone ala galaxy s2? Do you think it'll work?

Yes, it would work, our CPU supports that
The only thing we need is otg wire like sgs2 one or buy sgs2 otg host wire that is easily available for abt 5$
And kernal otg host enhancement ( may be Napster can do it )

I am trying to include that too. But currently its not there.
So dont go buying one cable till I show a green flag for OTG.
Wow that's great news napstar! Usb otg + hdmi out = very good portable media player!

waiting for USB OTG on spice mi-410 (ideos x6)
I am dying to activate usb otg on my Spice mi-410.
I have downloaded the Mi410_v3.18D_kernel_source_2.6.32.9.7z & Extracted it and found that there are several files for USB OTG code
Mi410_v3.18D_kernel_source_2.6.32.9\kernel\drivers\usb\otg\otg.c
Mi410_v3.18D_kernel_source_2.6.32.9\kernel\drivers\usb\function\msm_otg.c
So i hope this device supports the USB OTG and someone will find the trick to get it work
Napstar , am waiting for your reply
So still needs 'something' to make it works? Not OOTB?
Realy looking forward for this feature
First post and a new x6 user too

Hey Napstar any progress on OTG ???
I am fully aware that you can get a Official PS3 control pad to work on Android.
Using the USB method of contecting devices does anyone have a USB gamepad working?
Edit: If so which gamepads?
You can simply connect via Bluetooth
USB not Bluetooth

He's talking about using the OTH method, rather than the Bluetooth method.
As for any working, I have no idea, since I haven't made an OTG setup for my tablet yet. It's on my to-do list.

Yes I am talking about the OTG method. In my current location I really struggle to get anything so any advice on what I should buy to play games?
After checking all the threads I could find for those using various OTG setups, there do not seem to be any game controllers working that way. BT is going to be your best option here and there are several game pads that will work well with the touchpad.

I'm not sure specifically about the TP, but on my Nexus S, as long as you had ICS and a kernel that supported OTG, then there were a number of game pads you could use through OTG such as a wired 360 controller and some Logitech ones.
You can check the link in my sig for more info.
I'll try and test this out on my TP sometime this week when I get a chance.

Is the USB OTG implimentation a full implementation?
Does it just support mass storage devices on USB2, or can you do anything USB with it like attach a USB2 hub, and then attach a keyboard, mouse, vga adapater, ethernet adapter etc.
I realize that appropriate drivers would need to be available in the kernel for the specific devices, however the key questions is the low level support.
One of the frustrations with my Galaxy Note is that OTG only partially works, like for mass storage, however the OTG USB driver doesn't seem to support USB1.0 or 1.1, and I can't seem to compile working drivers for the ancillary devices mentioned above, so I was hoping the T had a better support.
All I know is I have used Xbox remote and mouse/kb ABD also Mass Storage

Could be a lot of things. I'd need more info. I've had the same problem myself before and here's what I did.
Are your device drivers installed and running properly?
Is the device in USB mode? Some ROMs will give a pop up that asks what you want to do when plugged into a computer. Did you hit "charge only"?
Try refreshing the window in which your kindle would be displayed. Usually "computer" or "my computer"
Is it's battery dead? Your comp won't see it if it's not turned on and some USB ports don't have enough power to charge a kfhd. Try a USB 2 or 3 port.
All in all I'd try rebooting both devices and hook them together again.
And if it's an emergency situation you can always use something like dropbox or 4shared to transfer the files over the internet.
Good luck.
If you went from stock to normal cm, try uninstalling the drivers in the device manager and letting windows reinstall what it thinks is right. I had something like this happen in the same scenario for the kindle MTP/portable device. Then again u didn't mention whether it was stock or not so I have no idea if this is even relevant, it was just the first thing to come to mind.

i m in the first kinology rom, it ever worked. now no, my brother`s kindle work well. it recognise my kindle like M: but i cant enter to it, it is like transparent (in my pc, using windows 7)
OK then try what I mentioned because that is weird, sounds like it might be driver related.

Just got an OTG for my Nexus 6 and I am using Liquid Smooth rom. What app is good for mounting it so I can see it when using the device?
Thing I have seen USB OTC Helper...I am rooted as well not sure what others are using since I am new with OTG
Thx
I use Stickmount. It's simple and works very well for me.

This ^. I use it with my Meenova micro dash otg and it works very well.
