I tried this theme when I gave MIUI a run, and I must say it is one of the better themes you can get for MIUI. It is nice and clean and certainly usable, and the contrast seems to have been thought out a bit ( for example, black text on black backgrounds, some themes you cant use because you cant read the text).
However, I like a bit of colour on my phone, so I had to change the wallpaper, then after that I changed the icons and so on... this defeated the purpose of this clean theme so I installed a different one to meet my personal needs!
And when/if MIUI gets fixed, I might go back again as its pretty stable generally - I just like to know where I am sometimes!
Tried this today and I like it a lot.
But it is difficult to see everything clearly unless I turn the brightness up (because of all the reflection off the black).
So I reverted to default theme but I did stick with the lockscreen and icons (AOSP) though.
Would you know how I could get the AOSP Camera icon to show up for the Sense3.6 Camera?
I tried editing the theme myself but failed.
edit: Btw, does some funny things if I try to just apply icons. (Music icon is different and phone icon becomes a smaller version of the default one).
Instead, I apply whole Black theme, then replace the unwanted parts with default theme.

Umm so if in MIUI themes I try to just apply icons, the phone icon isn't applied properly.
But if I apply the whole theme, it works.
And secondly, the camera icon doesn't work whatsoever on our rom, which uses the stock sense camera. I was hoping you knew how to edit the theme so it worked.

Nope lol
MIUI Theme manager has a feature which allows you to only install certain components of a theme. If I install only the icon component from BlackAndroid, a couple of the icons are funny (music and phone). If I install the whole theme then icons work. I can then proceed to overwrite every other component from another theme and my icons will still be fine.
Anyway, haven't tried latest version yet, will do soon.

The thread ^^^ you've listed is the stock miui 1.1.28 and not a theme. The difference is stated in the video but to recap....The GingerSuave is A "gingerized" version of the stock miui 1.1.28. Miui forum rules state that no roms other than the official stock rom will be posted, which is why I also(with the help of Aiccucs) put together a mod that will take the stock rom and turn it into GingerSuave.

Thanks. Essentially then GingerSuave is a theme. You have not really done any mods to the stock rom, correct?
False. I've changed some of the apps with ones that are darker themed, Changed the stock screen transitions, boot animation, and themed with GingerSuave. So what you get is the latest miui stock but with an overall Gingerbread flavor. I've updated the OP and that should suffice for the description of this rom.
This is pretty much the same concept of the other (non stock) miui roms out there. For example: miui moviestar, miui au, Rodriguez miui, embrace miui, miui gold, etc. I dont see why this is being treated differently.

Yep, its getting confusing. If one were to apply a theme to this ROM, wouldn't the Gingersauve elements go away, hence MIUI?

You'll lose the theme, but it will still be miui. Changing a theme doesn't change the rom system

You'd keep the screen transitions and that's all. Maybe the boot animation, but you can apply that later anyway.

I have a mod version on miyi-dev that transforms miui stock into gingersuave. I just wanted to make a rom that only required 1 single flash rather than 3 or 4.

I second the request for releasing these elements as a theme.
I definitely think this should just be released as a theme.
Basically what I'm saying is this: Instead of taking stock MIUI, adding a theme and a mod, and releasing as an entirely new ROM, why not just contribute the mod back to stock MIUI, and release the theme separately?
I just don't think the differences are significant enough to justify an entire new ROM. But that's just my thinking.
You are certainly free to do what you want. I'm not against this, I'm just "for" an alternative is all.

- The downloaded file sometimes switched to ZIP or RAR, rename it to mtz. but check it first what files are inside. If there is mtz inside zip/rar, extract it, if it contains "preview" folder, "wallpaper" folder, lockscreen.xml etc so you safely rename the extension to "mtz".
- Some of those themes won't work without an original MIUI ROM, I suggest you to choose ones from online lockscreen provided in the app. So try yourself

I am on cyanogenmod, but i remember when i was on stock rom, many lockscreen replacements didn't work and some, like go locker etc. gave force closes and hangs. Once i rooted the device, it worked fine.
Try rooting your stock rom, see if it works.
The problem is that I can't even install. When I open the APK it shows a popup that have something like this: "has occurred a problem analyzing the package".

Thanks for sharing, it works great. But there is one thing, is it possible to make lockscreens fade instead of just jump right into screen when you unlock?... I think it looks weird. The stock lockscreen have this feature that I really want.

About fade transition, we must modify the xml inside. I don't have an idea about those script, sorry again lolz.

Wierd, I tried those themes on Galaxy S2 with Oxygen ROM 2.3 and Nexus One CM7, even Galaxy Tab P1000 rooted stock 2.3.3 (1200x600 resolution) and almost all running perfectly, also others that didn't work on my Oblack...

Hi. This looks like a good theme, but I can't apply it. I checked md5sums, flashed it 3 times, wiped cache & dalvik cache and fixed permission. In theme chooser I only have system and achromatic theme options. Can anyone help.

I have within these hours installed the resurrection remix 2.6.1 ROM, and changed kernel to CM 3.0.32, using the the AROMA installer.
I am quite confident that I specifically marked "Pitch Black" during my custom install, but when finished, there where only "Acromatic", "Holo-Red" and "System". So I downloaded and installed "pitch black perfect", but no luck.
Any help will be appreciated.

Ok, firstly you appear to have do e everything correct. This theme won't appear in the theme chooser app. The difference of this theme are not dramatic in appearance, its all subtle.
In the last version, for RR2.6 i found i had to flash it twice, couldnt tell you why! In addition you can wipe caches prior to flashing and again after? This could help with this problem.
Be aware that I have not updated for RR 2.6.1 yet and it will overwrite the problems corrected by west in the systemUI. I will be updating as soon as I get my laptop fixed, having major trouble with it just now

Okay, so i gave it one more shot, wiping all there is to wipe... No luck. BUT!
1) as you noticed, I am NOT using the ROM which this theme is designed for, so that might have an effect.
2) As I rebooted my phone, I have a pin-lockscreen (not the sim-lock) which appears as the very first thing after boot screen. And that was what i would call pitch black. Then in a blink of an eye, the "system"-theme kicks in and changes it back to before i rebooted. (That is, if the thing I see really is pitch black-theme and not the standard "before-custom-android"-theme.

It required some time, but finally my Android Kitkat theme is at a good point and i wanted to share it with you!
REQUIREMENTS:
- You need a rooted phone to use this theme with Jelly Bean (that's a must)
- You need a ROM with the Theme Chooser Engine to apply it.
INSTALLATION:
1. Download the app and install it
2. Go to Settings>Themes (or the Themes section of your custom rom)
(If you don't have this option you are probably not using a custom rom)
3. Swipe and select Android Kitkat 4.4
4. Apply it
5. Reboot your phone/tablet to make all the changes
FEATURES:
Created for XHDPI, HDPI and XXHDPI devices,
with this theme you can feel all the sweet Kitkat style on Android Jelly Bean too!

Looks great on my LG with PacMan 4.3.1 only the battery symbol in statusbar doesnt change its color,its blue.

I tried to find a way to do that, but it seems that the status bar circle battery color uses the default holo blue,
and I can't change it to white because it would break the title text colors on holo white windows

I can't flash a 4.2 ROM as it is incompatible with my phone. tried installing 1.28, reboot. Uninstall, reinstall, reboot but it's still the same. I'm gonna test your new release now. If it still doesn't work. Well I guess it's really rom compatibility issue.

Its the best looking kitkat theme and plus its free.

Just got a bug in the emergency dialer.
The number 1 and 0 are bigger compared to the other and also have that __ line after them.
Its not a major issue but just wanted to report it so the theme can be perfect.
I guess its because these numbers don't have any alphabets following them so leave a void space for that underline.

But one sucks - there is no cyrillic symbols into dialer =( Can you realize this? You can do separate resoursce for cyrillic (russian, ukranian, and other) dialer, how it was done into Betterbean themes.

But your theme is suffering from the same problem all other themes have as well On Cyanogenmod there are H / H+ icons in the Quick Settings panels, but every theme I try does not show these.
It should look something like this:
But instead, it shows icons like this:
At this point it shows a H+ in the status bar, but the Quick Settings panel then shows a brown 3G icon.
Would you be able to take a look at this?

I think, this trouble of your ROM, your radio or your cellurar operator. For me (and others) all OK.

I am using CyanogenMod 10.2, when I use the System theme, I see H icons, but when I apply any KitKat theme, I see a 3G icon.
Icons are in the theme, not in the radio/cellular operator files. So I thought, it must be the theme.....
I am using a SGS2 which needs HDPI icons. I think that is the problem, because when I apply the theme, I get a warning about missing assets for my resolution.
I will wait to hear what the developer will say about this...

This is such a good theme. I have two phones. A Samsung Galaxy J5(00FN). And a Galaxy Core Plus. The j5 running CM 12.1 and The Core Plus CM 11. And some times i want to go back to Android kitkat and this is just a good way to do it. Plus the app Color Status Bar for the Play Store makes the KitKat fealing just perfect.

I love the Holo theme, Thanks A Lot For It, and loved it on kitkat too but on kitkat the status bar icons were using a holo blue color than the white under CM13. There is any way to do the same for this version under CM13, please, or there is an OS limitation and that's the reason all themes have the status bar icons on white color only?

But that ROM has custom blue icons (looks like CM 10), because stock cyanogenmod 11 have white ones.

OK then, didn't know that and considering that CM11 for Galaxy S+ is a port of original CM11, I thought that the stock comes in the same flavor Anyway, it can be done? I'm searching for a similar one for CM13 for some time now, but without luck. I think that people don't like anymore that holo blue color or not so much anyway.
I've never tasted kitkat properly in my life (CM11 on Xperia E is buggy and my first Moto E 1st gen got upgraded to 5.0.2 the next day I bought it), thank you for starting this project!

The CM11 for Galaxy S+ (coming after CM9) was perfect and I went with it since first beta build. You can get a pretty good picture of its quality since I used that phone as my day to day one since Christmas of 2010 until last spring and the phone is still intact and running perfectly. DevConnection_Team was a hell of a team loving that device and they poured their souls and hearts on the mods they made for it.
