Hi, I am a new android user. I am having problem getting my google calendar (web) to sync with the phone. It doesn't show the option for me to select and sync the calendar with my google account. By the way I have 2 google account. Once is for random junk and the other is for school. So far the the captivate only lets me sync the Calendar with the junk account but not the other account for school. I tried removing the account and adding it again it would only let me sync mail and contacts but no calendar option. I was thinking of removing my junk account but it says that I need to do a factory restore which I don't want to do. Has anyone run into this problem? I search but couldn't find anything similar.
Has anyone tried syncing with their Google Apps account?
I get all my contacts and email (Gmaill app) properly, however, I only get the "main" / default calendar in my Calendar app. Normal Google.com (xxx at gmail dot com, accessed through calendar.google.com) calendars work fine.
For example in my Google.com account, I have:
- Friends
- Gym
- Work
All these appear (in addition to the default xxx at gmail dot com calendar) in my Calendar app under Settings->Calendars and are labelled w/ xxx at gmail dot com. However, in my Google apps account (xxx at mydomain dot com, accessed through calendar dot mydomain dot com) I have:
- Work
- Thesis
- Other Academics
I don't have any of these listed in the Calendar app, even after syncing countless times. I only have one calendar from the domain: the default xxx at mydomain dot com.
Syncing with this calendar works fine and it sends updates both ways, however I can't see my other calendars being listed.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Actually I also have the same problem. It seems like google confuses between the personal google account and the google apps user account. For example. I cant access my subscriptions using gogle reader because all my rss subscriptions are in my personal google account and i dont know how to switcj between the two.
When I logged into the domain admin for my Google Apps account, it seems Google is opening up Google Apps accounts for access to most of the rest of their services, however I didn't see Android in there.
I wanted to try out whether setting up my first account (factory reset, etc) using the Google Apps account would fix it but I didn't want to wipe out everything I have right now.
Bump.
Anyone?
I finally had the chance to try out and set up the Google Apps account as my primary account since I did a full wipe + factory reset + flash on my tab today, to no avail.
Still a Google Apps account only shows 1 calendar.
Strange... I've set up my private and apps accounts and everything works great for me...
My private gmail account has several calendars, as does the apps account, and everything works fine, I can see all the events from all the chosen calendars...
I used the Accounts & sync settings to setup the accounts.
Well that's weird, maybe there's something wrong with my Google Apps configuration, I'll check with another account. But then again I've tried setting all the possible sharing and privacy settings appropriately just to test but nay.
I also used the Accounts and Sync settings to set up the account.
Okay, I can confirm there is something wrong with my Galaxy Tab built-in Calendar App.
For the sake of testing I downloaded several different Calendar apps from the Market and all of them can see the Calendars I have from my Google Apps account.
There was this app called Business Calendar that showed me the actual calendar IDs of each calendar and I can confirm they match the ones listed in my Google Apps account.
The moment I check it and add it to the list of Calendars displayed by Business Calendar, and I switch to the Calendar app that came on the Tab, the Calendars were listed in Menu->Settings->Calendars and turning them on worked properly.
I'm guessing there's something wrong with the built-in Calendar app? Maybe some issue with Calendar Storage or something. Everything works now but it sucks that I have to launch Business Calendar, sync, and enable it from there before seeing it in the built-in Calendar app.
Again, anyone have this issue?
I have the exact same problem. I did as you did, installed Business Calendars and it showed my 3 Google calendars all OK. They then showed up in the default calendar program. Canadian tab bought in Calgary.
had a similar problem with several of my google calendars showing up as being synced but no data from the calendar was being synced. I tried messing with pushing the calendar storage from my vibrant to my tab and it got stuck in a force close loop. I also tried to delete all the calendar entries which subsequently deleted all my future google calendar entires. After reimporting from a backup I made before I deleted it showed up on my tab.
Yeah, me 2, and some one suggested to add these two services, which are
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk and,
GoogleServicesFramework
has anyone tried this? Does this work?

I'm used to using ROMs that don't support backup assistant on my phone so I'm not sure about this.
I would like my Market account to be my Gmail account, not my backup assistant or whatever.
When i first started the phone, I skipped all backup assistant things and added my Gmail. But when i go to Accounts, it still locked with backup assistant.
I need it to be my Gmail account to get all my paid apps.
Do you mean when you go into menu>settings>accounts, you still see the backup assistant account with a lock on it? b/c in the stock ROM, you can't get rid of the account. you can not set it up and it won't do anything, but it's like the stupid VZW bookmarks in the browser or the VZW contacts on your contact list - you can't get rid of them, but you can ignore them.
You should still be able to set up your gmail account; as far as I know, the android market requires a google account. It won't use any other accounts, e.g. facebook, backup assist, etc. Happy to help more if that doesn't answer your question.

Well I know for a fact that the market isnt reading from my google account because it still says I have to pay for the apps i've already paid for.
I would get another ROM but BigDX's theme is only for stock
I'm too lazy to add the PNGs to the new ROM myself...lol
Umm.. You have to use a Google account for the market. Backup assistant is only related to your account info with verizon (ie. your phone #). If your market isn't showing your apps you are logged in with the wrong google account, OR, the apps you had downloaded are not the same apps capable of working on your new device. For example, there are games like Fruit Ninja that have a TegraHD only version that will only show up on Tegra phones, 2 different apps entirely that effectively are the same.
Thanks, i fixed it. I had to delete the account that didnt have my apps on it, clear market then reload it so it only had 1 google account to choose from (i have 2 on my device), the re-add the gogle account that didnt have apps.

In the future, while in the market, you should be able to go to menu>accounts and select the correct account, without deleting/re-adding your accounts.
Glad I could help!
Hi,
I was doing a favour for someone who asked me to root their Kindle and install the Play Store.
I did this and I tested it with my own gmail account and everything is working perfect. However, now I want to give them back their tablet, but I can't see where I can remove my account/logout from the Play Store. Obviously, giving them back the tablet with my account logged in is out of the question.
I tried going into Applications and clearing the app's data. I also tried wiping the data in Titanium Backup. Neither worked.
Can anyone help me here?
Thanks.
Do you have 2-Step Verification enabled in your Gmail account? You could try revoking access to the device from your account management page I think.
No, I don't have 2 step verification.
Would it be worth my time to enable it just so this persons Play Store won't log me in? Surely there must be a way I can remove the Play Store, reinstall it, and let them log in?
When I was installing it initially, the steps told me to log in, and then continue with further steps where it upgrades the Play Store to the latest version and does some other stuff. If I could delay those steps, or put them into a shell script to be run from the terminal once this person logged in, then I suppose that would be good too.
Thanks.
Had this problem on a cheap tablet that I got play store on for a friend, add another account (theirs) then you can remove yours

Hi,
Thanks but that doesnt work either. The problem is that the actual "Accounts and Sync" menu isnt in the settings. The only indication I have of my account is in the Play Store app, when you go into Menu and Accounts. Its related to the locked down version of the Kindle OS I think.
It looks like I might have to wipe the whole tablet and put on a custom ROM.
Actually. I think I figured out a way of doing this.
I had my gmail account setup to use the Play Store, and had Gmail synced apparently. Then I added a second account but I hadnt opened the Gmail app yet. When I did, it asked me to setup sync for my second account since it was the first time I'd opened Gmail since I added the 2nd one. This gives a link to the default Android "Accounts & Sync" menu, in the form of a button at the bottom of the app.
I was able to go in there and delete my 2 accounts. So it seems we can get into the Accounts menu through a back door in Gmail!
PS, I tried it again to add the 2 accounts and make sure I could reproduce it, but it just went to my Gmail inbox and showed me my emails for my first account. Then I pressed the drop down menu up the top left of the app and it showed my 2 inboxes. I clicked the 2nd one and it then gave me the sync menu buttons again and I could reproduce it, ie delete both my accounts.
Now if only I could get the menu/nav bar to stay on when I don't unlock it straight away after a reboot, then I'd be done!
How did you you added a second account?
Hi, I'm exactly in this same situation.

Did you try the Google account from the settings menu. Tap on Google account then account name then remove. Then add new account.

Possible fix
When I downloaded Google Play onto my fire 10 HD I downloaded 4 apk (Google services framework, Google play services, Google account manager and Google play store)
Once I'd done that I mistakenly logged into Play on the wrong account.
When I went back to the home screen there was a 'Google setting' app icon there.
I tapped that icon and went to 'Google Account - info, security & personalisation', from there if you tap the small arrow at the end of the email address it gives you the option to use another account.
I added the other account and am now able to switch between email accounts.
Hope that helps.

It doesn't work for me on 5.6.4.0. It gives me two options, open with Settings or Show mode. Neither would have google account removed.

This is quite easy and a two-minute task:
Open Plyastore on your PC/Laptop
Sign in to the play store using the same Gmail ID you want to remove from any device.
Once signed in Navigate to the setting by clicking on the Gear icon on the upper right corner of the screen.
Here you will find all the devices connected to your account.
Simply click and remove the device.
This will help you to remove the device or logout of the play store remotely.
This is the easiest and most effective way.
As @eoinzy & @Chotkach mentioned (Thank you)
1. Install Gmail app (Don't question it. Just do it)
Go to setting.
Manage account and here you can easily remove Play Store information.
Anyone else having trouble syncing contacts through google? I am on MIUI 9.6 China ROM, and I have installed the Google Contacts app and Google Contacts Sync from APKMirror (August 7th Version). Currently, when I try to restore contacts, it says that "No contacts are backed up to this account." However, when I go to Google.contacts.com, I can see all my contacts. Is the restore within the Google Contacts app searching a different location for the contacts? Thank you.
delete the gapps you installed manually and try the GoogleInstaller_V3.apk, for me contact sync and everything google related is working fine.

Is that the one that comes from the Mi Store when you search "Google"? I tried that one, but it didn't have contact sync.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850489460
i used this and it included google contacts sync app (and its working fine)
install everything (except playstore), playstore just download, decline install - reboot - install missing playstore.
Are you already install Google contacts too from play store? If not try to install it then turn on the sync
Had this problem as well, but fixed it. Make sure to set permissions for both the Google Contacts app as well as the Google Contacts Sync app.
This is the step to sync contacts from Google account to phone.
1.Open your device's Settings app .
2.Tap Cloud and Accounts.
3.Tap Accounts.
4.Select Google (If you have more than one account on your device, tap the one you want.
5.See if the option to sync contacts is enabled.
key here is to go to the App settings, and make sure all the permissions for Google Contacts Sync are checked, also change Battery to No Restrictions
What finally worked for me was to follow the instructions to download Googleinstallerv03.apk mentioned above... but when going into Account -> Google Account there was no "Contacts" setting...
BUT I went into Xiaomi's Contacts app and in there I chose to sync contacts from a mail account. Gmail was one of the options. I had to sign in again and now I have The Google account and a IMAP/POP3 account pointing to the same mail but it was able to sync all the contacts AND in Settings -> Account -> Google Account now it says "Contacts" and it syncs correctly..
So that worked for me on a Xiaomi Mi CC9 bought in China with the Chinese stable ROM
I couldn't get this working on my Redmi K20 Pro...
I used the Contacts app's bluetooth import feature instead.
I faced to that before, I think you need to make sure you installed a right google service. I found some time the google installer install a wrong google service, you may try to fix the problem by re-install the google service. hope it help!
You can also restore contacts from device directly.
Step 1: Enter the "Settings" on the device.
Step 2. Choose "Accounts & Sync" under the "Settings" section and elect the "Add account" option.
Step 3. Tap "Google" from the list and then follow the prompts to proceed to the next step.
