So, after i did the rooting and flashing steps, and istalling with CWM Recovery 6 a CyanogenMod 10 ROM, all goes well(the installation steps) but after rebooting when i started my phone i realize that i can see just 2 gb from 16gb internal storage, why? i mentioned that i don't have an external sd card. I've tried to mount from CWM but it's says: 'error mounting /sdcard'...i've tried to see if i can to the steps again for flashing and when i have to chose a zip file from sd card, now i can access it from internal storage card(an option below in the menu)there is the only way i can see what really in my internal storage and after i want to format sdcard it's says: 'error mounting /sdcard.android security' ....hope you understand me 'cause my enlish sucks! what should i do to view my all internal storage?
PLEASE ANSWER!
Thank you!

Did you tried to mount external sd? In some cwm versions its swapped.

Hi,
I am having an issue that I'd hope you would be able to help me with. I flashed CyanogenMod10, and everything was doing fine, smooth performance, reboots with no problems, but then suddenly one day it went bricked. I restored through the SmartFlashTool Method, and got back to the stock Rom with everything working except for the SD card.
I have tried out various stock ROMs and none seemed to recognize the SD card, outputting a message of "SD card removed. Please insert a new one."; getting on to ADB when trying to mount the SDcard I get this message "mounting /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 on /sdcard failed: No such file or directory", and while trying to mount the SD card in CWM Recovery, it tells me "E: Can't mount sdcard", and when I try to mount USB storage through CWM, I get "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile(no such file or directory)", and when trying to mount /sdcard on CWM I get a "Error mounting /sdcard" message... I hope people at XDA would be able to help me since I have been lurking through the forums and internet without any good answer. :highfive:
I was able to mount the SD card through ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6, but again, barely at random times when it works, and after installing a ROM those times, the phone usually works for one hour or two and then gets bricked again. I can not have access to another CWM version since I need an SD card to flash it. To install CWM I am using a patched .bin and .fls files in the SmartFlashTool method of unbricking. When the SD card gets recognized, I can even reboot the phone and still get the SD card to be recognized. The SD card problems don't happen until the random bricks after flashing a ROM. :fingers-crossed:
I have also tried using several functioning SD cards of different capacities formatted in NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT with no luck. I am also not willing to go back to stock since it is buggy and lags a lot compared to CM7, CM10 and every other custom rom I have tried. :crying:
Thank you for any help you could provide me, or if you have any answer for this problem,
Pablo Lujambio
Firstly when you get access to sd card with cwm or anything get your files backup to your pc.Than try format your sdcard in settings menu on your phone.Did you tried format your sdcard in settings menu?

Yes I did try that last time but I only seem to get a "Can't mount sdcard" error. I haven't been able to get the phone to recognize any SD card on v10a, v20a, nor v20b stock roms.
Hey guys,
Ok so i was on CM10 old bootloader, decided to make the switch to
ICS CM10 ( Pengus77 )
Used AIO tool to install new layout then flashed a new recovery CWM
I put the new ROM on external sd card then boot into recovery
Heres the problem , when in recovery E: Cant mount /sdcard/ !
I go to advanced mount /sdcard error mounting /sd card !
How can i install new ROM if i cant see any of my cards?
or cant install any ZIP's through Recovery?
When i plug my phone in PC...i can see two removable disk labeled D: & E:
but i click them : Please insert a disk into the drive...(?)
I tried everything that i know about...wich is not a lot...kind of a noob with all of this.
Any help would be gladly appreciated...kind of lost here
Cheers,
VP
In some recoveries the internal sd is marked as external and vice versa! See as you have changed your bootloader version, internal sd has been completely wiped. But i think just mount the External sd from mounts from CWM..
If you come from gb BL,
1. Nvflash stefan ics v28 and wait to fully reboot your phone
2. Open aio tool
3. Press number 4, 1 for the new ics layout, press 3 for new cwm 6
4. Copy pengus rom on external card
5. Enter cwm first try to access internal and external if this cards can access it show a message "no files found"
6. If the e: can't mount copy the sd card fix and system format ext4 then flash it
7. If you can't access both card try to reformat your system, factory reset, cache and dalvik
8. Flash sd fix and format ext4 again
9. Try to access both cards again

CWM Recovery won't read my SD card. I've wiped factory data, but can't install the new ROM because it won't read the card. The files are zipped, the SD card is in the slot, and the files are on the EXTERNAL card, not internal. Any work arounds? I need help, since I'm now out a phone until this is resolved.

What is "apply sdcard:update.zip"? Do I need to run this first?
Courtney
When to "- mounts and storage", clicked on "mount /sd-ext." I got an "Error mounting SDEXT:!

What rom are you on now? Does the version of cwm your using have the option to install zip from ext sd? If not I don't think you can. Put the zip on the internal sd by plugging into a pc that has the captivate drivers installed and from recovery go to "mounts and storage" and mount usb. that should allow you move the zip onto the internal sd.
You don't need to use update zip.....you will always get that error trying to mount ext sd from mounts and storage. I always have anyway, not an issue.
Edit: just tried and I can mount ext sd, but I remember I couldn't in the past, so knowing your rom/kernel would help. There are multiple threads on how to flash roms and I'm betting one of those, especially one for the rom/kernel you have, and want to flash, could explain in better detail than I can how to successfully flash.

Wiping and factory reset shouldn't mean your phone is dead. You should be able to boot the phone into normal operation, then copy the zip from your external storage to internal, if mounting in recovery is a problem.
Did you uninstall ROM manager as I suggested in your other thread? It just doesn't work well on Captivate and you can see threads here where people get into trouble with it.
If you are stuck with CWM recovery and cannot boot normally - then read on
It's not SD-ext. Which mounts are listed in the CWM mount menu on yours?
Depending on where you are in the upgrade process, it might differ.
What version of CWM recovery are you running - it is on the first screen you see.
You may see USB storage, which refers to your internal 'SD Card' and you may also see emmc which may refer to your external SD card, the one in the slot on the back, above the battery.

Here's the update:
I used the USB connection this morning, and I was able to complete the flash process. Everything went well, other than the phone will not recognize my SIM car. It also reboots every 5 minutes, so I guess I have a few bugs to work out. I'll start searching these issues.

I compiled ClockworkMod myself and flashed it to my P970 running CyanogenMod, but now I can't flash zips. When I try to mount the sdcard, I receive an error: "E: cannot mount /sdcard". This device's storage is of course located in /storage/sdcard0, so I suspect that might be the problem.
I don't think that this is the problem. Try to clean sdcard then reboot in recovery. If it doesn't mount, share your recovery with me, I will test if it works
I formatted the SD card from inside CyanogenMod, but now I can't mount it at all. If I choose "Mount SD card" in the settings, it briefly flashes the stuff on the card, and then says "Safe to remove SD card". I performed a factory reset, but it still doesn't work.
What version have you compiled?
//Edit
I remember that to get a fully working recovery for our device you need to edit some files in the device tree, maybe you need to edit some .fstab files or BoardConfig.mk, Evisceration has already compiled cwm for p970, you could ask him for help.
//Edit2
To edit .fstab files (maybe you should edit recovery.fstab) look at gingerbread's device tree.

6.0.3.6, but that doesn't solve the problem with the SD card, which I now can't mount at all. I tried plugging in the USB cable but my computer can't see the card. I may just have to buy an adapter from PC to SD. This thread: android.stackexchange.com/questions/55182/cannot-mount-sd-card-with-error-sd-card-safe-to-remove says to format it with a PC, but that's for a different device.

Do you mean that you can't mount it even when you're running Cyanogenmod?
Yes. After I formatted the SD card, I can't mount it even in CyanogenMod. In the settings, I select "mount SD card", but it doesn't mount, and I get a notification "Safe to remove SD card".
It could also be a hardware problem, just to be sure send me your recovery or post your sources.
//Edit
I have compiled cwm 6.0.4.6 using 4.3 device tree and everything works good.

EDIT:
So, the good news is I solved the main problem. I changed the file "recovery.fstab" to have the other possible partition for the SD card, recompiled, and flashed. Lo and behold, it worked! I can now flash zips from the SD card in ClockworkMod.
But I still can't mount the SD card within CyanogenMod. I know I can flash zips with
Code:
adb sideload
if need be, but I would still very much like to be able to store pictures, etcetera, in that 8 GB of space.
EDIT 2:
I went to the store and bought myself an SD card adapter. I used that to format the card, but now I can't even access it from ClockworkMod.
I flashed your recovery and SD card works.
Which file system is your SD card using now?
If you flash a stock based rom from sideload, can you format SD from settings?
I bought a new SD card for $28 and everything works now. Note to self: never format SD card again.
-SOLVED BY USING ODIN, AND FLASHING A STOCK ROM-
Samsung GT-S5830
So i installed some custom GB rom a long time ago on my friends phone.
Now he gave it back to me because nothing was working anymore.
The problem is when i try to open the file manager in the phone it says there is no internal sdcard, furthermore in the settings at partition settings it shows me:
/system 183mb/ 206mb
/data 65mb/178 mb
/cache 4mb/ 25mb
/sdcard (FAT) 0.00B / 0.00B
/ext-sdcard (EXT) unavailable (not 1 in the phone)
As you can see, the phone acts like it has no internal storage at all wich make it impossible to put anything on the phone.
I have tried using ODIN to flash a factory default rom, but my computer does not recoqnize the device when i put it in download mode. so that does not work.
I however installed the lastest TWRP, to try making my own partitions in there but that also did not work.
after that i downloaded cm11, put it on a external sd card and flashed the rom.
this all worked fine, but still NO INTERNAL SDCARD.
I am guessing that my friend has been screwing with some files or whatever.
Anyone got any tips?

Why your sdcard have FAT format instead of FAT32?
Try to backup it using a PC and then format it in FAT32, but forget ext partitions for the moment

Sir, it is impossible to format an INTERNAL sd card just simply by connecting it to a pc. You are talking about external sd cards here. (that's just part of the memory the phone internal has, there is no physical sd card here).
Anyway, i fixed the problem by flashing stock rom in odin wich has reformarted, and partitioned, it correctly.
