[Q] Is ICS from SU660 being ported to P990 anytime soon? - LG Optimus 2x

Is ICS from SU660 being ported to P990 anytime soon?
Does anyone know if someone is currently working on porting it and making it stable for P990?
How long might it take?

It's not possible.

How come? or can't they use it to fix the bugs on CM9? (such as decoding and encoding problem)

Wrong. It is possible. But it can't be done (yet) without the kernel source code which LG has yet to release (they are obligated to do so if they roll out an official OTA update, but right now the update's still in beta so we still have to wait).
So yes, the SU660 ICS can be ported to the P990 and even the P999, but you can't just take the compiled ROM and change a few lines. You need to work directly with source code.

I see, so has LG said that they'll be releasing the source code? (I am not familiar with this stuff)
Do they usually release kernel source codes?
Thanks in advance.

They have to release the source code, since android is open source. Or something like that. So yeah, they'll probably release it soon.

LG have to release source first!

[Q] Anyone working on the official 2.2 since the source code is out?

Just wondering if anyone is working on some rom's for the official 2.2 update, the rom's we have now are amazing just figured they would be a little more refined with the official source code released??
There already are a few if you look in the development section. I know adam of team phoenix has one in beta right now called fusion, and I saw a couple others.

BIG difference between an "update" and having "source"
there is no source yet...

all the ones i saw in the dev section were based off of the Rodgers build, which is similar but not based off of the actual captivate 2.2

I don't think it is guaranteed that they will ever release source...
Although they probably will eventually (hope)

they have to release the source eventually. cant remember exactly but according to licensing, they have X amount of days after official release to release the source.

Is that a Google requirement?
I believe Cognition 4.1 is based off of official froyo 2.2
I am gonna close this up now as Source has not been released and there are Roms based on the 2.2 ATT update and they are marked plainly

Android 3.2 Source Code Released

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but it looks like the 3.2 source code has been released:
http://groups.google.com/group/andr...1c225a11f5/6410b44798c19d61?#6410b44798c19d61
and
http://m.androidcentral.com/android-32-gpl-code-pushed-aosp
this is just the parts used for the 3.2 update that are using the GPL license, that requires
the source code to be available when the software is shipped.
Oh, gotcha. Oh well.. I had hoped it might be something useful
pretty sure google has said multiple times that honeycomb source will not be released. Going to have to wait till ICS for a truly customizable tablet platform
Yes, sadly we will not have 3.2 until samsung releases it or someone hacks a xoom rom to run on the gt10.1.
Huh?! Did you mean 3.2?

no, it was not released and probably won't be released until the bugs will be fixed which might take a long time.
Ricardo is doing few projects at the same time so can't guess when there will be test build.
One thing is sure , it will be before LG's own lol.
Search for him on google plus. He updates every few days.

[Q] Where is ICS Kernel source?

Samsung officially release ICS for the Note (LPY in germany). They are obliged, by the kernel license, to provide the source to anyone who got the binary - in practitce to everyone. Does anyone know where is the source for the kernel included in LPY relase for the N700 is available?
in one PC in an office .... secretly hidden

They are obliged in due time, it can take months for source to be released

This is incorrect. They have to release the source at the same time as the binary. There is nothing in the GPL about "due time".

Well it is how every other company related to android as operated since the dawn of time I do believe. HTC tends to release there's in waves

They'd have to be bonkers to release the source code of a kernel with the EMMC bug, IMO. I know I wouldn't.

No. They would have to be bonkers to release the binary if indeed there is such a bug in LPY kernel. Once they released the binary they must release the source.

I dont think you quite get it, while under the licensing they should release the kernel source code most of the big company's can take months to do so
