Htc hd2 smart stand-Update-Review!

Has anybody bought this stand! I really like it. In fact i prefer it over the other cradles, since it can be used both in portrait and landscape.
i tried buying it several times but paypal keeps giving me limitation errors though i am verified. contacted them but no use, they suck. i cant even make donations here

I researched 4u-mobi and they seem reliable , some guys here in the htc hd forum have already purchased from them and received their products.
Well i am gonna buy one and write a review for you guys.

This is a awesome stand! I shall purchase one after im done saving for my Nikon D300

I really like it. Looks elegant on my desk.
The bottom has a non slip rubber, the part where the device goes in is plastic and the leg is made of steel. the 90 degree rotation is very useful. There is cut outs for the usb and earphone plugs. i am using the device on it with no issues, it is stiff and its not shaking at all.

I got it within two weeks, the thing is don't expect any customer service from these guys. They don't even send you an email of purchase confirmation.

I just got mine a couple days ago after reading your post. Agree with everything you said. It's nice and sturdy. The 90% rotation is great for watching YouTube videos in landscape mode. A lot better than I expected. It feels like it'll last for years. Just don't expect to take this with you because it won't fit in your pocket. I rest it next to my computer and use it as a secondary computer, listen to radio, watch movies, check email, etc...

It looks like from your pics that the volume down button is a little obscured. I'm I right, or is it just the angle of the picture? Did yours come with the top clip as shown on the website? Is it tight with the top clip on? The reason I ask is because I have the US HD2 and it's a little taller than the EU HD2.

Has anyone tried using this stand with an HD2 skin on their device, such as BodyGuardz, InvisibleShield or BSE? I'm wondering if a transparent skin would make it too hard to insert into this stand.

I think I will get this and secure it to my dash as a car mount. This way I can use it in both landscape or portrait if desired.

Yes , unfortunately thats the only setback. the volume down button is obscured. It doesn't really bother me though.
Yes i got my top clip but don't need to use it since without it its easy to put the device on and off. Even without it the phone stays securely in place.Plus i think the clip has a couple of mm more room.
I also did some DIY on the inner side of the stand to protect my phone from scratches. i used self adhesive soft fabric and cut it right.

Great, thanks for answering my questions. I purchased the stand based on your review. I think if the volume down being obscured bothers me I can just cut a bit of the plastic. Great idea with the lining, I might have to do that too.

Hey! I'm doing the same thing as soon as I get it. I'll be mounting it on the top of my steering column. With my CarPC, I'll be using it with Remote Desktop for diagnostic functions and GPS. In portrait it won't obscure my gauges...

3 weeks...
I ordered this on Apr 22nd and still haven't received it. I emailed them and they actually replied back the next day with a tracking #. Shipped May 4th and will take 10-14 days from HK.

Just made a similar modification to my stand, although with Moleskin Plus.
Although I found putting it on the arms made it very tight and too difficult to slip the device in.
In fact, even with it just on the back and sides it is very tight.
Do you find the same issue with yours?

I ordered 2 on April 28th, have not heard from them since. E-mailed them yesterday. Still have not heard anything.

Mine slides in and out smoothly. You need to use very thin fabric lining like i have. i also cut the left plastic side which covers the volume button. now it works great.

HTC HD2 smart stand is also available on Expansys ... I'll buy from them (very reliable in previous transactions)

Beware of the body glove case with kickstand from tmobile

Hi i just wanted to warn everyone about the clear body glove case that the t-mobile store carries for the HD2 i spent 30 dollars on this damn thing and the kick stand is leaving chips on my battery cover i have not contacted body glove or t-mobile about this i will trust me and i will post the status on thread just a concerned HD2 owner and wanted to let everyone know b4 they get screwed

I have this case. first of all I paid $22 for it and second, i didnt notice anything you mentioned on my phone...can you upload pics to show us?

i want this case. how is the belt clip on it? does it work good? did you get it at your local tmobile store?

I don't own one of these cases, but I'd suggest you take a look at the two "knobs" that appear to be contacting the back of your case, and see if they either have sharp edges that are scratching or some type of glue/epoxy that might be reacting with and chipping your phone. As the battery door appears to be metallic in composition, your problem might be due to some type of chemical reaction.

Nah, it's definitely from the stand. I have that same case and I'm glad I clicked on this thread. Mine hasn't gotten there yet, but after reading this I noticed a tiny bit of rubbing. I'm gonna put a piece of tape over it. Thanks for the heads up.

I bought this case before and from taking off a couple of times i now how scratches on the sides of my battery cover now... Stopped using this case after couple of days

Bought this case on launch day with the phone and dont have any damage from using the case.

Got a New Cover
Ok so after many customer service agents and long hold times i called body glove first then they gave me a number to call corporate after pretty much blowing me off asking for recipets they said they would send a claim form in the mail like any uses that anymore then i called t-mobile customer service which i do love because the people are so friendly and helpful they gave me the number to HTC which i called and got sent all over the place there (i still cant figure out why i had to call HTC about a body glove case that T-MO sold??) then i got tired of all of the running around and went to a local t-mo store the girl changed out my battery cover for a new one great i am so happy about that but what about the body case i asked she says if you do not have the recipet there's nothing i can do so i then asked just to trade it out and again no recipet no trade fine i said thank you and was very polite because she took care of my phone which is all i care about so the conclusion i have a good battery back but not new case guess ill just have to stick with that crappy rubber case that came with it till i can get my phone skinned over all im happy...

Same here.

I thought it didn't scratch my phone either until about 2 days ago. The scratch is TINY but noticeable when looking for it.
But then again it seems it couldn't have been the case because its about 1/4 inch on top of the E in the SENSE part.
Doesn't bother me though since it's always in the case. If I get bored I'll polish it one day...

my wife and i both have this case, all good on our front. no scratches or such.

I bought this case with the phone and never had a problem like you described. I rather like this case if only I didn't have to take it off every time I had to pull battery.

i bought this case from day one and not a single issue with it. I love it and if it wasn't for this case i would have a cracked screen on it(again). the one day i let my spouse use it to try it out was the day the phone fell and the screen cracked. I have dropped it from higher ground with the body glove case and phone was untouched but yet the day i don't have the case i drop it from knee high bench and screen cracks. wow. i trust and love this case. sorry to hear you guys are having this problem.

I have the EXACT same problem... I'm glad you went ahead and showed everyone. My problem is that I have 2 of the same case.... and I'm not in US for the next 3 months. So I figured I need to glue some sort of foam at the kickstand so it doesn't do it.

WOWparts Case Review

My son decided that he wanted the WOWparts case. I posted a review on Amazon about it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008M5SD9U/ref=oss_product
It claims to have a magnet for the sleep/wake function, but there isn't one. Also, the part that holds the device is too big vertically by just over 1/4". As a result, his Nexus 7 can slide around inside the case, making it more difficult to use. I've contacted WOWparts in case they accidentally sent us the wrong case. I'll post here again if they respond.
I'd say to avoid this one. Even if everything was right, the similar Poetic case (which I review here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795991) is superior in every way. At the time, it was $2 cheaper to boot, although now the Poetic one is more expensive.

Would love to hear any feed back on the rotating case from WOWparts. Anyone order this?

Ah, thanks for this, this was on my list of potentials.

They got back to me. Evidently it was mis-listed as having a smart cover when it doesn't. They offered to let me keep it and get a partial $5 refund. I took a them up on it. It would have cost me at least $3 to ship it back anyway. The fit still isn't the greatest, so I can't recommend it. They were quick to respond, though, so I'll give them credit for that.

From looking at the listing, it doesn't have the smart cover, if that makes a difference to you. If the Nexus 7 fits in that one like it does in the one my son got, I'd say to take a pass.

I did end up getting the rotating case from WOWparts. Although it doesn't have the smart cover - it does fit the Nexus 7 perfectly. For $10 delivered to Canada.. I would say it is a decent buy

Built-in magnetic strip enjoy more comfort it brings with a kickstand to prop up your Nexus.

Has anyone got this and could post a few pictures or a mini review please. I couldnt seem to find a review anywhere, maybe its too new. The pictures on the official Noreve site werent that informative. Any help appreciated. Cheers

I ordered it on the 26th but they still haven't shipped it, once I get it I'll be sure to post a few pictures though. I got a mail a few days after I ordered it saying that the demand for the case is relatively high and that they will ship it out within the next 7-10 working days. Here's hoping it'll happen sooner though...

Hey there, that would be really good. Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Didnt want to pull the trigger on it too quickly as its around 80euros depending on what colour you choose.

Hey, have you got the case yet?
I am very curious what you think of it.

I got the case today, will update with pictures later (I'm at work right now). First impressions: The case looks nice (mostly), though I can see the glue which holds the parts together in some places. The spacing around the N10 isn't uniform all around the case, there are some gaps, and it looks like the steel claw which holds the lower corners of the tablet (in landscape orientation) are a bit bent out of shape so all in all the tablet doesn't sit in there as nicely as I would like it to. The case does have a magnet which turns the tablet off/on.
Another concern I have with the case is the design with the steel claws itself, I'm worried that my N10 might get scratches on it when inserting/removing it from the case, but I'm not sure about that because I never had this kind of case before. Maybe someone with more experience can weigh in on that?
EDIT: Here are the pictures, the case does look quite nice and the leather is good quality too:
However, there are also aspects which are less nice, like the spacing around the tablet (look at the top-right-hand corner):
And this is what happens at the bottom two corners, the tablet doesn't sit flush with the case (the case is deep enough but the corner radii don't seem to be quite large enough, so you can push the tablet in):

TL;DR Nice case, but don't get it if you're OCD about this kind of stuff. I am, so I might send an e-mail to the people at Norêve and see if they think that this warrants an exchange/refund.

[Q] Is the Dot View case worth it?

I have been reading mixed reviews about the case and it's fairly expensive over in Egypt so I cannot really decide if I should buy it or not, and unfortunately there's no option of trying it beforehand.
One recent user said that it actually created a smudge/scratched his screen and that kind of scares me because I just bought the phone for a crap load of money and I don't want to scratch it. I have been a M7 user for almost two years and it doesn't have a single scratch on it. The reason I am hesitant about the Dot View is because it's a flip case and even though I bought the HTC Double Dip Flip case for M7 when I first got it with excitement, I ended up ditching it for a normal back cover about a week later because it's a pain as a daily-driver.
My M8 came with a cover inside the box (which I am assuming is standard with any M8) and it actually does a decent job but I am not a fan of rubber-feel cases and I prefer plastic ones. The only problem with back covers is that when my M7 accidentally fell of the table last week, its screen got shattered and I was very upset about it. I am pretty sure if I had the Double Dip Flip cover on, that wouldn't have happened.
Any information, thoughts, and advice are much appreciated.

I would say its a personal preference. I got a dot view case just to check it out. It was sort of fun but the novelity wore off pretty fast. The big problem with that case is that it offers very little in the way of protection for the phone...and secondly, you can't use it with a glass screen protector (for the most part) because the case doesn't close fully with the glass installed. Also, the phone is a pain to get out of your pocket due to the rubber front, which by the way, will forever attract lint and get all mucked up...All in all it was more of a pain in the end.
I ended up choosing a nice iloome 9H tempered glass screen protector and a Spigen Slim Armor case and its a fantastic match of good looks and protection.

I own one, and I have a love/hate relationship with it.
First thing first: The case is extremely attractive: everybody will ask you for it, and you can show it off to all your friends (mines are all in love with my phone just for the Dot View Case)
the fact that you can answer / hang the phone without opening the flip is very useful
The Bad: Typing with the case open is a real pain. There are occasions (when sending long text messages) that I found Myself removing the case, typing quickly the msg and putting the case back on.
the way the flip is designed makes it constantly trying to keeps its closed state. so if you are using the phone one handed you will find yourself constantly struggling with the case to keep it open

That's exactly why I hated the M7's double dip flip cover.. it just made typing with two hands a hassle, let alone with only one.

I've never been one for cases on my phones, especially a phone as attractive as the M8. Having said that however I did get a dot view case as a part of a bundle when I got the M8 and I do find myself using the case most of the time. The reason is the case, in addition to being protective, is also functional. The M8 without a case is so smooth and slick (in every sense of the word) that I'm sure that I would have dropped by now if I wasn't using the dot-view case.
