Hi everyone,
I've been searching around for a bit, and I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of any CM10/AOKP theme engine themes that only change icons? I Like the look of stock Jellybean, but I don't really like the stock icons. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Just use an alternative launcher like Nova or Apex and then look for themes for those.

Yeah I can do that, but that doesn't help when app icons show up in places such as Recent Apps or Lockscreen Targets. I'd like the icons to be changed at the system level, not the launcher level.
*bump*
Anyone?
This is interesting. Bump indeed.
I've spent the whole evening looking for exactly this. Bump.
I think there's a real market for this. I would even pay $.99 on the Play Store for a Sense Icons theme. Or Touchwiz 4. Or some kind of Miui-like icons. Really, I'd love it if there were several options of this type...any themers out there feel like going into this?

I would love to have the Sense 4 icons...like the ones in this Apex theme. I don't know where you'd find the icons though...
I use a Galaxy S2, so HDPI. Does it matter though? Other CM10/AOKP themes work for both...
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to understand. If I'm wrong, please tell me!
I know it matters for a lot of graphical elements in the UI, but I don't think it'll make any difference if we're talking about just icons. I've used several themes built for XHDPI devices on my S2, and what happens is this: I get an error that says, "Sorry, this theme is missing assets for your device's screen size." I click the Apply Anyway option, and then everything works fine.
Thanks for doing this, by the way! You're a life saver.
U will need to make icon packs urself or changed each apk icons one by one for each app u installed if u have root... no icon pack in market will change all icons for the all apps installed as there are millions of apps... With launchers u can just change home icons not appdrawer....
You can use a program like themeX to extract the icons to speed it up a bit. Also I have made icons if you want any help.

Generally, for system apps, you need to extract them and decompile them and then look into androidmanifest.XML. but for downloaded apps, the process name is shown as the app name in data/app.

Hey.
Can you explain how you compiled a icon only theme? I'd really like to know how 'cause I'm also looking for the same thing or instructions.

I'd actually like to do it myself because I want to learn how to do make icon only theme. Will the way you do it, work for XHDPI?
Alright, I found a guide that helped me compile and decompile using apktool and managed to make a theme. One question: when i delete an xml or edit an xml, it won't compile. how can i fix this?

Also be careful what you edit in the xml. It will throw out errors if you reference something that is not there and not compile.

going to be tough.. think the icons and all have to be altered through the launcher. Go Launcher has some MIUI themes, the status bar can be made transparent but don't see anything really exciting as far as the icons go. Downloaded one file but can't open it. It is a .mtz format. Is this just a different type of zip? Know of a program to open it?
sorry not much help there, but thats ok with the icons, always a workaround for that thanks for putting in the time on this!

take your Framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk, RES_cappuccino that you altered and put them in a flashable .zip in CWM that we can all try to use? If you made the launcher, include that also or let us know where to get it if it was ADW or GO or LauncherPro? Just like the other themes in this section. If you want.. or keep it all to yourself..
OR, maybe that was someone else in the "Screenshots" Thread I saw.. REVO_65 maybe.. but any of them if you made the changes yourself post 'em. I am not really a MIUI fan, but all of those screenshots look pretty sweet.

Yeah it's best to flash the theme on a freash install of the rom. Because some themers change thing that I don't and vice versa, so in order to have everything set right, how it's intended it's best to start fresh. Plus it just causes less issues down the road that way.

You actually can't. Its a paid theme right now for iOS. Lots of people here on xda actually have been posting their themes with some of the icons. Their are lots of forums out there with different sets of the jaku icons. Best bet is to learn how to create your own mtz and make your own theme with the icons you find. You will find lots of the icons.
best how to get them is go through 200 pages on macthemes and download one after another or find i link with ios theme (it has around 150 icons in it) i found it but forget the link just search on google patiently

Have you tried this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jy.iconchanger.ad I think it may work for icons one by one, I think I've read about people using it for the app drawer icon. For applying icon packs system wide, the Xposed module Unicon is great for that. Especially the beta version, it has the ability to use icons from multiple packs using the custom icon assignment feature. Theming the app drawer icon is also a plan for the future, just currently not available.

Thanks for the info, I like the app. I just flashed a new ROM so I'll be making use of it here soon. And theming the app drawer icon would be a great addition to the xposed module. Right now to get the look I want (all icons being same shape and size) I have to switch between themes that use either a round appdrawer icon or a square one. And then have to have all round icons or all square icons otherwise the appdrawer icon sticks out like a sore thumb. But the app you referred helps to find matching icons, thank you. I'll check out the xposed module too, probably tomorrow.

I'd think the themes for the LG launcher work similar to Nova launcher themes. Skinning images in the LG launchers res folder. If you browse through the LG launcher apk you should see a res folder, with other folders inside. Somewhere there would be a app drawer icon. Usually to replace that, you have to use something like apk tool to decompile the launcher apk, change the launcher icon to whatever you want and recompile and install the apk, or go through the same method with a launcher theme. Decompiling it and so on. Which might be a little easier. I've never browsed through the LG launcher, but that's how it works on other launchers usually. The icon changer app would be a far easier approach if it actually works. But I'm not 100% sure it will since I haven't actually tried it.

That information is very much appreciated. That is exactly the info I've been looking for. I just came over to android from iOS so I'm still getting familiar with everything. I run Linux on my PC though so I'm picking it up quick. Anyways thanks again for the info.
Icons are not stored in the system. They are pulled from the apk files and then listed in the app drawer. This is all done via the XML and java files in the system.apk and then the application.apk. There isnt a way to just swap out a icon unless you use a modding app or you decompile the apk and rebuild with a new icon. If you want a perm way of change the icon, you can pull the apk from your phone and then open it with 7zip, and then just replace the icons in the /res.drawable-* folder. Other then that you need a modding app
The app drawer icon was the only icon I was having trouble figuring out how to customize. I really appreciate the information you provided already but do you happen to have information pertaining to the app drawer icon itself?
