I own my SGS i9000 now for 2 years and since I've acquired it, until this day, I can not find a call recording app that actually works, correctly.
(Do note a correctly working "call recorder", not a "voice recorder", and not a solution recording from the mic)
Call recording is not outlawed within my country and surely there are many more owners who'd like to record sales calls from call centres as those calls form the entire contract.
(Though one is informed that the call is being recorded, have you actually tried acquiring a copy of those recordings, for your own records, from the call centres .... ?? - Personally I'd rather watch paint dry as that would be more exciting and much less frustrating )
The only solution seems to have your side recorded as well, which seems to be the eluding holy grail of all that is Android.
What just does not make sense is how my previous Nokia did it with the click of a button and with excellent recording quality ...

.... I ended up rooting the SGS i9000 ... as that was apparently required to make it work ,,,
.... then started flashing with custom ROMs .... all to no avail.
XDA's superior reputation within the Android community has had all my hopes on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967297 ...
which I've tried, though update_autocallrecording_main_pkg_0.3-ANT.zip simply replies with the error: "E:Error in /emmc/update_autocall" as can be see by the attached screenshot.

As I'm lost in Android Space, having no outlook on ever getting there, I place all my XDA faith upon someone whom could assist on how to get call recording working correctly on the SGS ... hopefully including the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Is there honestly not a single Galaxy S i9000 user that would love to have call recording ?
Hope is not all gone...you have a status 0 error, in other words, just extract the zip you are trying to flash, then replace the update-binary (inside META-INF folder) from another working zip...then rezip the files...you will be able to flash it but one thing, it may not necessary work...

Will it make any impact as I've updated all my devices to either (un)official Jelly OTA or truly custom (Helly) Jelly ROM's ?
It is ok as long as you take the updater binary from any zip that works on your phone...

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. The 'Cast Screen' under settings pull-down menu is not working. It does not find any of the chromecasts that I have nearby.
Not a big deal, and not a priority at all for me, but just wanted to let you know.

just wanted to confirm the procedure for updating SafeStrap, since some people have CM11 in their stock slot:
in the first step (when you say 'go back to stock'), are you saying simply to boot the stock slot, regardless of ROM (since once SS is unistalled the 'slots' don't exist)?
Or do you mean boot to stock ROM, in stock slot?
I'm guessing it's the former, but I'd like to be sure before taking the plunge =)

May not ever work, IIRC, chromecasting the screen requires hardware we just don't have. :[

assuming that cm11 is currently installed in your stock slot and you want to update to the new test safestrap by stargo:
uninstall the existing safestrap using the original safestrap, for instance, if the existing safestrap is 3.73, you should install safestrap 3.73 and uninstall the recovery.
DO NOT REBOOT YOUR PHONE IN THE PROCESS
after you have uninstalled the existing recovery, uninstall safestrap(3.73), and then install the new safestrap by stargo, and install the recovery.
your safestrap is now updated, and nothing will be wiped.
YOU MUST NOT REBOOT YOUR PHONE DURING THE PROCESS, you can only reboot after a recovery has been installed.

It need some kernel changes... but it should work...original gnex have the same cpu/gpu and they make it work... @lucize was seeing that but i dont know what happend with that

Yes, our GPU driver does not support WFD. And in contrast to the GNEX, Motorola added much stuff to our version, so it's not easy to sync it back with the upstream kernel. Last time I tried that, I ended up with a non-working display and couldn't figure out why...

Just boot to whatever you currently have installed in the stock slot. And I have to underline what @sharptv said, never reboot your phone in the process (it might work when you have the stock ROM in the stock slot, but it will surely break in every other case).

Data doesn't come up on its own, still needs some prodding (selecting the APN) and will go out randomly. Still not ready for prime time, sadly.... :<
It does come up a lot quicker, however.

That's VZW weirdness
But if it comes up, then data is actually passing? Because that is what my patch was intended to fix. Before that the data-indicator would show up, but data would not actually get transmitted...
Can you probably send me the output of "ip route list" and "ip addr list" when LTE data is connected?
Would be interesting to see, what is actually happening now. I can only guess from here...

LTE was working on first build, just took 10+ mins to connect then worked good.

The deal is, the data works at first, then at random intervals it breaks and needs to be manually reset. I'm travelling right now so I can't really risk using CM12 right now, but I'll get you some logs when possible. JJB is having the same issue, I'll ask him to try and get you some details.

Today, I proudly present GomdoLight KitKat for KOREAN LG G / G2 / G3 / G3A / G3cat6 / Gflex / GK / Gpro / Gpro2 / LTE3 / Vu2 / Vu3 / Gpad7LTE, one of the most widely used (with 20,000+ users approximately) stock-based custom firmware in South Korea.
GomdoLight is more than 3 year old already (first version released on 19th December 2012), and is very mature.
Technically speaking GomdoLight is NOT a complete ROM, but rather a large-scale patch, which modifies official stock firmware to remove all the unnecessary components preloaded by operator/manufacturer, and reorganizes key system parts to 'basic' Android OS with manufacturer's flavor. I'm not sure yet, but it may not be necessary. Because gomdolight is a large-scale patch mainly focusing on script-driven features, just three of system apks are overwritten:
- /system/framework/framework-res.apk
- /system/priv-app/LGSystemUI.apk
- /system/priv-app/LGCameraApp.apk
Camera should be compatible for all variants, and only the FRAMEWORK RESOURCE and the SYSTEM UI might have compatibility issue.
You can first take a Nandroid backup, and try installing GomdoLight all the way to the end over your stock firmware, and see if it boots (and operates without crashes)
For model selection just choose LG-F340K.
1) If it works well: CONGRATULATIONS! You have fully-working GomdoLight.
2) If it fails: Restore Nandroid, and reinstall GomdoLight. However this time choose the 4TH option for battery percentage indicator. (Do not change) This options leaves both framework-res and SystemUI unchanged, so it will work 100%.

I installed in my d-958, well, some force closes in the settings, app manager and gallery sometimes, but everything else, at least the main functions, works well

do they CONSISTENTLY force close by certain actions? or just randomly?
I'm downloading now and will test it for the D95920s firmware. T-Mobile D959 on the latest KitKat 4.4.2 D95920s. Will report back later. I need my phone till at least 4pm central time so I can reach my son but I'll flash after that.
This intrigues me. Sprint supported? I don't feel like dealing with force closes mentioned in previous post in different variant.

good luck. if it crashes revert to stock via nandroid backup and reinstall gomdolight, this time choosing the 4th option (do not overwrite the status bar) with battery percentage indicator.

probably. the script set is practically compatible with all current LGE devices with JB or KK. only few apks should be troublesome.
if not sure, choose not to change the status bar during installation. then it will not overwrite both framework-res and systemui.

Don't you see messages like 'GomdoLight: System starting up'?
You usually don't see visible differences after installing GomdoLight, especially on non-Korean firmware, since it does not know what apps to debloat. You would have to debloat the system yourself. However its extensive startup script set provides very unique and useful functions. These functions are explained in the simplified user manual that is automatically displayed after installing. If you did not see the manual opening, and if you do not see the startup messages either, probably something is wrong.

You usually don't see visible differences after installing GomdoLight, especially on non-Korean firmware, since it does not know what apps to debloat. You would have to debloat the system yourself. However its extensive startup script set provides very unique and useful functions. These functions are explained in the simplified user manual that is automatically displayed after installing. If you did not see the manual opening, and if you do not see the startup messages either, probably something is wrong.

I seen all the startups and everything. Gomdo warning of superuser, a major lag on my phone for abot 3-5 minutes of lag. It only uninstalled vutalj. I honestly havent noticed anything special. I even tried it with that status bar selection and it went through fine.

gomdolight's optimizations are not much visually noticable, without drastic changes. if you expect a whole new experience this is not your type of rom.
or, you could install another stock-based rom that will bring significant changes, and install gomdolight over it (without status bar selection) to further aid with its performance.
think gomdolight as a special tool to streamline and 'properly' reorganize the stock firmware (or, stock-based roms). changes are not noticable at first sight, but they surely benefit the user somehow in the long run, and give you better control and (sometimes) superior disaster handling capabilities.
anyway, thank you for letting me know that selecting LGU+ model increases compatibility with non-Korean firmwares.

I'm pretty sure as this phone is, new rooting and roms are still being developed. Be patience.. or learn to make one yourself

Got the same phone. Liking the layout etc. Not the official VIBE UI rom.
It's set to English, but still finding Chinese icons/text everywhere.
Since I don't speak/read Chinese; issue...
Also sometimes laggy, due to lots of processes/apps running in the background, which can not be deleted or stopped.
Looking forward to when the community embraces this phone, and stock Android ROMS will be available on short term.

I am trying to port cm12 to this device. It is the first time I am doing although I have previously created custom ROMs by editing system.img, so I am a noob.
I managed to get a stock rom: K50-T5_USR_ST1516_5.654.1_1504152228_MP6V3_CN.rar.
I have slightly modified build/tools/device/mkvendor.sh to be able to work with mediatek files which have a 512 bytes extra header.
I've triedt to create a recovery but I am not sure if it will work as I have some errors in the output

Should I copy anything from boot or recovery's ramdisk?
You can find attached the information I've been able to collect (info.txt and build.prop.txt) and build.log which was in a folder in the stock ROM.

I have not updated as of yet, for the reason being I am very dissatisfied with the VIBEUI. I currently run 1522, despite the obvious and numerous complications of using the Asian based firmware. I have had to replace the dialer and sms, mms apps as well as install a font manager, even so I am still unable to get 4G working. I would much prefer a pure Android rom and for the past month have been considering beginning a project to build a new Lollipop rom supporting the 67xx MTK chipsets. It would be my first attempt at doing so since all my previous phones have been LG, HTC and NEXUS devices which have always proved easy enough to manipulate and customize.
If anyone out there has experience in building custom roms, especially for devices using the newer 64bit Mediatek chipset, please feel free to contact me. I would appreciate any help offered in this endeavor and I know there are many other MTK device owners out there that are just waiting for someone, or a group of someones', to pioneer a solution for those of us in the western hemisphere using these MTK devices. I am constantly on the look out for new information and projects pertaining to this, additionally I have a dedicated computer with all the SDKs needed to begin the project.

What is the significance of this ROM string? I see that "ST" prob means (stable).

i am here for a technical solution,
i live in Dubai, middle east . couple of weeks before i bought an LG V10 online.. (F600L-Korean version). after inserting sim card i found that its seldom receiving incoming calls...when you try calling it says phone is switched off. not always, but most of the times. the rest everything works fine like outgoing calls, sms etc.
when i contacted the store in Hongkong they said its a minor OS issue , can be resolved by re-flashing the device.
Has anyone experienced similar issue?
Is the firmware for above mentioned device available?
Can i go for a self re-flash?
Waiting for your technical guidance...as my phone is still resting in the box.. i want to start using it ASAP
