can anyone tell me
is streak 7 in the CWM device????
THX
Not yet, because a recovery image hasent be successfully dumped to compile a CWM recovery. One that is done Koushik Dutta will add it to the supported device list.
I am working on that now.
Be patient everyone

Tried playing with it tonight. Found out that Dellâ„¢ has set this beast up a little different than conventional devices that you can dump from. I should have something by Sunday at the latest, but I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for the support. As for hellzya, I will work on some kernel tweaks as well, but not until I get this CWM recovery first. Cant afford to brick this just yet. Once I have this done, I will probably push a kernel before I push a rom, cause if I can get the battery drain down, I can convince other devs to buy this device and play with it.

This is great - so glad to see someone working on this device!

Ya im not concerened with a rom. Cool!!!

I tried to look over how the streak's file system is built and it seems it does not use the standard mtd setup like most android devices which would allow for a quick recovery partition download...
Sent from my Dell Streak 7 using XDA App
That was my assessment too. I need to figure out an alternative to the conventional mtd dump. If you guys figure it out before I get off work, please post it and I will work on it tonight.

Hey. If you go into ROM manager and select flash recovery two devices come up. the Advent Vega and the Elocity A7 both of which are Tegra 2. Would one of these work? I'm assuming not but figure maybe because their HW is similar maybe one of those recoveries would work. I always thought ROM manager would only show compatible recoveries as options.
Its quite possible, but I aint got the balls to test it out, lmao. But if anyone feels froggy, have at it and post results.

hmm well looking at the specs of each, the Vega has the same cpu I believe while the A7 has the 1.2. and overall besides the screen size differences the S7 is more like the Vega than the A7.. ok.. What's the worst that can happen if I try to flash it? I just wont be able to recover in case something happens? It might just give me an error if it tries to flash and fails...
hmmm I'm debating... should I try?
well I just tried flashing the one for the A7, didn't work but I also didn't lose stock recovery and everything is ok.. Going to try the other now but think it will be the same
tried the other.. same results.. oh well at least I gave it a shot..
I figued they wouldn't work, but it was a possibility.
Yeah, ClockWork seems to be pretty much inoperable. It will install and execute but that's about it.

Just got TWRP on my s3 and because of its ease of use I'm thinking about putting it on my friends i9000. She can sort of get around the Cwm I have on it now but I figure it would be much easier with TWRP.
Can it be installed/used with no issues on this device?
I would use goo manager to install.
The i9000 is on cm7

You need a kernel that supports it. If you upgrade to CM9 or 10, you can flas Devil kernel and activate TWRP.
You need a specific kernel to flash a recovery? I put TWRP recovery on my s3 without touching the kernel. Strange

Does anyone else with a ROM that supports Google Now (Android 4.1+) been running into problems ever since the last update (Dec 13) to the Google Search app?
For me, whenever I try to open the app, it instantly force closes without showing any error messages.
The only thing I've found online is from here: http://code.google.com/p/android/is... 2&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars
Take any device built around a Tegra 2 SoC (AP20H or T20, it appears to not matter), install any ROM based on 4.1 or later. Install Google Apps, and update Google Search to the latest, via Play Store. Then try to open a Search, or Google Now.
So far the crash has been reproduced on a Samsung Captivate Glide, a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, and an Acer Iconia Tab A100. All were running some version of CyanogenMod, if it matters.

Has anyone got Google now working on their SGH-i957 running the stock ICS rom? I have it on my phone, a motorola Droid 4 via this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
which explains how to put google now on your ics device. I found NOTHING in the thread even remotely close to mentioning our device, most likely because we are such a small niche. I am too nervous to try flashing without knowing ahead of time if it will work. Curious if anyone has tried or knows how to get Google now on the device since I believe it was already determined we will never see JellyBean right?
Install or reinstall Google search. Now is part of it. Get it on the play store.

You are correct in your statement that Google Now is part of google search, however that feature is only available if you are running 4.1 or higher (i.e. JellyBean).
My question has to do with hacking it to get it to work on the the sgh-i957 running 4.0(Ice cream Sandwich)

Yep, it doesn't work on ics. You should install a custom rom. Nrvates cm10 works well.

Well i know it doesn't work via a stock ICS rom, but I am trying to see if someone has gotten it working using the hack in the link I provided, or if someone knows if this is an arm6 or arm7 processor or neither.
I don't want to go the custom ROM route. Did that before with nrvates CM10 rom and the power died and i couldn't chsrge it. Had to mail it back to Sammy for repair. Now i have it running stock, rooted, ICS and I love it... But i want google now

You can check the cpu version on settings, about tablet. I don't have mine with me or I'd check it, Pretty sure it's a 7.
It's sounds like I had the same problem with nrvate's as you. That's interesting, I thought it was just a fluke. I too repaired thru Sammy.
If I find some time tonight I might play around with this. I too like the stock ics and now I'm even more concerned with nrvate's.

I see one initial problem. The rom needs to be dodexed. The stock rom won't be. You'll have to be running a custom ics.

It works. I downloaded the offline zip for the arm 7. In recovery, cleared cache and dalvic. Flashed the zip.
Edit: it sort of works. Try it and see if it's good enough.
Edit: the online version works best, offline, not so good

Sweet! Sort of... Lol
Can you be specific about what's not working in each the offline and online versions?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I957 using Tapatalk HD
I won't mess with the off line. It really doesn't work well. The only issue I've had with the online is it doesn't always close. To close out I've had to press on the show more cards, which I know doesn't make sense but it does close it. Other than that it works well and does everything it does in cm10.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
By not closing, do you mean you swipe it away and it comes right back?
Thats a common problem with this hack. Known issue.
I run the offline version daily and other than that issue i dont really have any problems so i was just curious what your specific issues were...
I guess i'll play it safe and go with the online version
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
Ok, so I tried this out and thought i would answer my own question in case someone else was interested.
As far i can tell, THE OFFLINE VERSION DOESN'T WORK AT ALL
It is not a small bug, or quirky, it simply doesn't work. Don't even waste your time.
So far, no problems on the online version that I can see

Good thing we've got these wonderful members at XDA to dictate what you should and shouldn't like. Please eat a sock and go back to your custom ROMs. If stock works for him, who are you to tell him he's wrong?

Now all you have to do is download GMD gesture control (the free one). I went back to stock on my nexus 7 and am not rooted. I really wanted to try it on my tablet because it is great on my phone. Try it and see what you think. I would love to live vicariously through you right now. haha
I use official AOKP rom on my Galaxy Nexus and SmoothRom on my N7. Works great however I am thinking of throwing AOKP on my N7 too just for laughs and because it tested much faster then SmoothRom.
I like Smoothrom because they only release solid builds. I don't think they've updates the rom in months. But it just works well. I think I'm using MKernel. SmoothRom includes several kernels build as well as GAPPs. Its a All-In-One package which makes things easier. Once you flash it starts a setup where you can pick and choose lots of options like installing Android Browser and/or various kernels.
