I was thinking about this Tablet and i see theres a Camera issue everywhere, what is causing this issue? Drivers? Firmware? I was also wondering if this was possible to fix in the future and if people are working on it?

I meant when it comes to Skype/Google+ Hangouts and things like that, I have no plans to take Self Portraits on a tablet

It's still the same (or very similar) camera. Being able to take portraits is a huge step toward being able to use video, and shows that people are working on it.

For sure, I will. The only thing I know about this that camera application affected the mobile software. Looking if seniors can help!
So based on you're experience which camera app would you suggest? I am kind of shocked to find that the camera app is so slow. My Blackberry Q10 is very quick compared to my Turbo.

I really like the Google camera app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera&hl=en
Unfortunately on the turbo it still does have some lag. Hopefully that will be fixed with future OTA updates.
The main thing I like about Google's app is the option to take photosphere images and panoramas. I know the stock camera app does panoramas but Google's app allows for much higher quality images.
I have taken some really awesome images using this app.
Lenovo Supercamera is great. Adds lots of effects and options, more so than stock camera on S5

Thanks! I tried installing but it wouldn't connect to the camera. Which version did you install to get it to work?

Latest, 3.6.7 with permissions removed. Definitely works for me. Maybe restart too - sometimes it seems like camera apps can lock another out.

Ahhhh.... I was going down to the second post and installing the other camera. Nice!! Going to have to play around with it more tomorrow. Thanks again!!!
Thanks to everyone who posted. I actually really like both of those options and will probably use both. Anyone ever try any fisheye lenses?

Do you see this as well on your install?
Yes, those resolutions are correct for the Turbo camera (even though they say a lower MP).
The 5248x3936 is the same as the full 21mp (Standard) mode, and the 5248 x 2952 is the same as the 15.5mp (Widescreen) mode. Assuming that this is what your asking?
Exactly what i was asking. I figured it was cosmetic. Just wanted to be sure.
I will the first update might have sped up my camera. When I left the store it was slow, as I read about. Next day I searched for updates and got one. My camera is normal now. The only issue I notice is swiping to pictures from the camera, it swipes right away, then the screen "blinks" real fast. Might try a different camera to compare though.

Maybe I'm crazy but this seems to speed the shutter up a bit.

Perhaps more tinkering in the ladybug settings could help, or the ability to reduce mp size further?
Let me know what works for you all!

I've tinkered with it but I don't know what I'm looking at. Not a photographer but I'm sure you repost it in general? I have someone who knows what they're looking at toy with it?

Yep, other than the resolution displaying wrong it worked good too. I ended up installing the moto camera+ and taking a bunch of samples to compare the two, found it to not take any better pics than the moto camera + with the settings unlocked.

Hello all!
I want to know if any port of Google Camera works on this device?
Thanks!
EDIT - It is vanilla G6 Model. Not the Play or Plus version.
As far as I know it doesn't work on arm32 software, has to be arm64, I've tried several ports and can't get them to work. Hopefully we will get an arm64 firmware at some point.

How would you review the camera app?

It's not bad, but then again I'm not trying to take pictures at a sporting event or something, I'd use my actual camera to do that. If I take a picture on the phone it's usually of something that doesn't move.

In testing today I'm on the newest update I know of and running the one custom kernel available (could be the reason) but I have next to no lag when taking a photo, it takes when I hit the button.

Hi. I am interested in getting this phone.. But most of the camera tests I see online, the images are too dark. Also, strangely, although images are generally underexposed, they still somehow manage to blow out highlights sometimes.
I am very impressed with the camera quality apart from the issues stated above, but surely they are software issues and can be fixed with a patch or alternative camera app?
Thanks

Everything can be fixed and by far improved using the GCam. Search the thread for examples.
Thanks
I saw some pictures but they didn't seem hugely better to me.
Plus most apps need a root to install?
I wouldnt wan't to buy a phone and risk installing an app and then can't send it back if I'm not happy.
Do you know a link for some good picture and video samples?
Thanks

Nice images thanks.
There was one where the Stock camera was better I think.
But all the others the Gcam looked quite a lot better.
And does the Gcam also give better video recording?
