Wrong readings, isn't it too obivious? When you run gallery that eats your cpu for 14 secs drains 40% of your battery? Well I have the same error too, and I can confirm it that its the display that chews the juice not gallery.

Hi guys,
i recently bought a LGOS and soon began to tinker and try out custom roms. and right now im running into a problem i couldnt solve by searching through this or other forums. i tried out several different roms with different kernels (modaco, swiftextreme, stock (froyo and gb), cm7 newest nightly) and with every rom my battery drainage is way higher than it should be.
with battery monitor im reading values between 100mA and 900mA when the phone is in standby mode and not being used! the temparature is also quite high ... round 38°C
on some forum i came across the problem with FD dormancy, and because my provider ( eplus) doesnt support fd dormancy i tried using a workaround by shutting down the phone application everytime the mobile data connection is being disabled... but it didnt help.
so i tried wether or not my problem is related to an app or service. i shutted down every process possible and the problem still persisted. i also tried disabling go launcher and using the stock one, but it didnt work.... im using no widget at all on my desktop right now
i tried wiping my battery stats through clockworkmod recovery. and it didnt help.
right now im beginning to believe that this problem is hardware related. im so frustrated with this :<. the phone itself is awesome, but this problem makes it quite hard to love it :<
thanks for your help
update: for the most part the problem was related to bad battery calibration. now the battery consumption is "only" ~50 mA in standby mode... the phone i had before, a "htc hd2 with newest hyperdroid rom" only consumed 3-5 mA when sleeping. when playing 3d games like gameloft's "order and chaos online" battery consumption on my LGOS averaged round 20% in 30 minutes of playing ... is this value normal?
the situation is still not very satisfying :<
Update: i noticed that the battery voltage stats are totally weird. The battery monitor values seem to jump from low to high values while discharging. I also stumbled across some thread regarding cm7 from April. The battery driver from LG seems to be faulty. Is there any fix ffor this... I'm using modaco right now
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
another update in this conversation with myself :
i tried using cm7 ... and it actually made my problem even worse. the phone discharged in less than 5 hours while in standby. now im back to modaco... discharge rate while in standby is ~40mA.
is there anybody else on here who can help me ? :<
i guess i will need to sell this phone :<
sounds like a hardware problem, maybe you should send it in for a repair.
anyways when using the phone it normal that the battery is empty after 5 hours or so... but that should not happen in standby. does it happen with a clen install an withoit anything installed?

thanks for your reply ... my father just also bought an optimus 2x... so i will do some comparisons to check what exactly the problem is and wether or not it is software related. my last step before sending it in will be to revert back to stock froyo and install no app at all and check if the problem still exists ...
damn this phone is costing me many hours of stress and work ^^
My missus' 4xhd is on 70% after 3.5 hours unplugged, she's looked at Facebook and on the wrb a little but nothing major. In the battery use menu it says android system 66%
Is this normal? Because my Xperia has been off charge longer and shows android system 6% massive difference there!!

Any idea what process(es) are to blame? Hers is stock phone on latest firmware, she won't let me **** with it like i do my own. Lol. But I could probably convince her if it sorted the battery out

I uninstalled all the games I had on my phone and battery afterwards was amazing. Not sure what games u had on ur phone but dead Trigger mass effect seemed like they used battery even if not played. Now star wars angry birds and contract Killer zombies 2 doesn't to use that much battery when not used. I think dead Trigger must be constantly be doing a task in the background. I got from 6 7 hours to 15 hours with 12% battery left. Not sure why some games in idle still or when not being played still eat the battery like crazy. So my tip is uninstall all games and see how it battery life is afterwards.

Facebook app is a battery eater, even when not in use. It's trying to sync contacts or others notifications constantly. Even when you disable those options.
Uninstall that app and use Facebook through a browser like Dolphin or so? That's what i do.
Also read the tips in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013469
I'll post my final configuration in that thread soon. I have my phone at stand-by now for 6 hours and it's still at 100%.
I found the best way to save battery is to not use 'active/changing/moving" widgets, remove or freeze battery eating apps and underclock.

Before I didn't had any problems with Facebook (al sinc was OFF, notifications OFF, refreshing "1 hour", and no battery drain) but now, after todays update, everytime i turn it ON, the GPS starts to run. I disabled the "share location" option, everything but it still happening. The only way is to turn OFF the GPS...
Any ideas??? Cause I tried everything...

Wrong post.
Stock trega core concept is awesome but it depends on usage. As said in power Management demo, if screen is "on" and some background program is running all cores will be on, which consumed a lot of battery. And try charging your mobile only when charging falls to less than 5%
And remove it when it's fully charged. and I suggest you calibrating your battery really calibrating my battery worked a lot.
I have been vulgarly using my mobile a lot. i never faced any over consumption. Overall I am really happy with the results. of course I'm never disappointed by my battery till today. I love my 4X.

Good to note that you are happy with your battery. With 3G on, my battery does drain faster. Even overnight it goes down 7-8%. Could you explain how you calibrated your battery. I dont plan to root my phone.
Thx.

Without root you will not get good results.. Even if you calibrate your battery. In my opinion, the first step to get a better battery life is rooting your phone.
She doesn't have any games on her phone and yea Facebook runs but it does on mine and i don't have any issue with it. It never used to be that bad too. Just like this last week really

Everytime when the battery is down below 50%, my Tab just suddenly turn off when I use some apps like Phone, Messaging , Camera... Maybe even in some games, or while in the app drawer ( maybe all of related stuff ) the screen just turning black and then I notice it was shut down.
I think the cause of this is using the mod rom with the problem when the battery is below 50% or something. Cause when I'm in stock rom, nothing like that happen. Please help me, I've tried even stable rom like cm9.1 but the problem is still there.
any suggestion with this battery issue.

Maybe your battery is too old. I have replaced mine. Maybe you should change it.
Regards
Sometimes I got this or the battery just drop to 1% I think this is because our batteries are almost at the end of life... I read somewhere I don't remember that the Lithium battery life is about 500 charging cycles... And I found if I decrease the brightness my battery can handle it well...

I don't know what's causing this. Anybody have the same situation as I have? Any ideas to remove Android OS battery drain? TIA
Remove Android OS from your system :screwy::silly:
Seriously its core process of entire OS (operating system).
Without it your phone can't work

Every now and then i have the same problem, Android OS chewing my battery dry...it keeps my phone "Awake" all the time, like when i sleep for 8 hours it eats my battery over 30% ... but, after a restart or 2 or 3 restarts it gets back to its usual behavior, phone goes to sleep when i don't use it and i get easily 2 days of medium usage...
i still have stock ROM and dont know what keeps the Android OS working all the time in the background, but as i said it happens rarely, maybe 2-3 times a month,so probably its some sort of a glitch
P.S. @NoTricks , 2 months ago i installed Dropbox app and even i have had its settings not to upload anything automatically, the application was working all the time in the background killing my battery super fast...after i uninstalled it the phone went back to normal battery usage...just my personal experience with that app....

Yeah, Same Here, My battery drains faster when I install an app that always runs in background. I tweaked my S3 Mini's Minfree values and it helped a bit, but it reduced my phones powers in multitasking.
Hello folks,
I got a SGS with carbon custom rom. It is running Android 4.2.2 . My battery life is pretty bad, i lose like 30% over night. I already reduced screen brightness but mobile standby still eats a lot of battery.
Would a new kernel solve my issue? Can someone recommend one, please?
Thank you.

It's not kernel. Install gsam Battery Monitor and check which apps are draining your battery. And check your wakelocks .
Try to greenify apps like viber, facebook etc
As you are also using 4.2.2 it has battery drain fast bug.

4.2.2 based ROMs have in general very high battery consumption. On the i9000 4.2.2 gives the very shortest battery life.
CM10.2 works much better, provides around 50% longer battery life and is faster
Thanks for your answers. I checked battery usage and wakelocks but there are no abnormalities. The highest amount of wake lock is caused by exchange but it doesn't seem to be the culprit of my battery problem. The device is awake only 9% of the time.
I found that mobile data causes the drain. When turning it on and tethering the connection I lose half my battery within 20 minutes. The battery usage is about the same when only using mobile data, without the tether.
I have installed semaphore, it gives me excellent standby times when not using mobile data...(2% over night)
2 questions: would flashing a new modem/radio solve my problem?
Is 4.3 suitable for daily usage? My current ROM is very stable and I wouldn't want to upgrade to 4.3 if it doesn't work well.
Also, I need tethering, does that work on cm10.2?
Thank you
UPDATE: I flashed Android 4.3, semaphore kernel and a new modem. I will observe the battery consumption over the next few days.
