You have to get the 905 Gingerbread FXZ file and RSD Flash it to stock, Then Update to the ICS 232 Leak which is what i recomend because you can still go back to gb you cannot after 232, Root it, Install Bootstrap. Run the tool and Install rom. Then leave it alone lol

updated the op instructions with a new mod for those without root explorer. Please see if that method works. Thanks

Installed fine, running great. Thanks!
I got "clock stopped" though, what did I do wrong?
Oh yes, those preinstall is still there, probably the wipe did not worked

Tried re-installing from fresh official, then fresh 232 leak, then this ROM.. now no clock error.
Dug deep with Root Exp. and removed what I did not need..removed a lot..
I flashed the GSM enabler patch, a bit of play with build.prop and Sqlite editor.. viola! A Bionic with really beautiful, yet fast and light ROM, with GSM-CDMA capabilities :victory: thanks again
..now.. is it possible to change the bootstrap to safestrap?
Edit:
It's doable!
I'm now running LSMOOTH-LIQUIDBLUR on the unsafe side, and LSMOOTH-CM9 on the safe side, both side with dual GSM-CDMA data, call, & sms capability. Perfect! Thanks again..

Did you have to do anything extra while running Safestrap? Could you post what you did/instructions on how to do it?

If he got it to work fine, should just be a matter of flashing the rom. Make sure you still clean out your preinstall folders to make room with no errors.
Located at System/vending/preinstall/app
and just /preinstall in the phone root directory
May need root explorer to do it with tho.

Yes, OP is right. It's just flashing rom after another. Make sure of the cleaning process. While on Safestrap, don't just wipe, but better use 'format system/data/cache' in the 'mounts and storage' menu. After flashing, don't exit safestrap yet, do the wiping, don't forget to wipe Dalvik cache too.
Not just once I experienced bootloop because of not being well-cleaned

So everyone happy here?

Can't say i am. My phone locks up at the Dual Core screen every time I install. I FXZd back to 902 and tried again. Same thing. Followed the instructions exactly as provided.

Thats odd. Are you manually clearing the preinstall folders. And using the bootstrap utility correctly?

FAQ
HERE YOU FIND SOME FAQ, REPORTS (From Users) AND ANSWERS (having to do with the ROM only)
these have been tested and solved most of the issues (you will get a great ROM with nice MODs) Now the usual: Use at your own Risk! That written, have fun!
Are you guys actually reading this? If yes then pls. hit thanks, that I know I am not doing FAQ for nothing!
------------------------------------------------------------------
You think something is missing on FAQ? Or I missed something important, while torturing my eyes through the posts? Then PM me with the Question and the Answer! I'll check it and eventually post it. Thx.
------------------------------------------------------------------
General Questions, Reports and Answers to Codename Android (currently 1.6.0) for the Nexus S; UPDATED TIL POST #2346:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: WIFI is not working, what can I do?
A: You can flash another kernel or wait for update 1.6.5, that fixes it. However, no need to wait just flash a kernel at your own discretion, then you will have WIFI.
Q: But I want WIFI for the initial setup, such as restore from google?
A: No problem. Just flash the ROM and do a first boot. Don't setup anything just wait a minute or two for the os to finish the first start.. Then turn off your device, boot into recovery. Wipe cache & dalvik. Flash another kernel. Boot and then setup as usual.
------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Questions, Reports and Answers to Codename Android for the Nexus S:
Q: When is the next update coming?
A: Don't bother the five star cooks. This is not fast food! It will be coming! The goal is a stable and well cooked ROM, not a fast deep-fried one!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Where can I easily find the latest updates and mods?
A: Best way is to install Codename Android ROM Utility. With this app you always download the latest stuff!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: After downloading stuff with the Codename Utility, how do I install it?
A: For now you have to boot into recovery and flash the zip-files. In the future automatic flashing will be added!
Please donate when using Codename Utility to keep the project alive. Donation link found on download page!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Setup wizard does not ask for WIFI Settings sometimes? It sometimes does and sometimes doesn't...
A: It asks for WIFI Settings before you set your google account only if you don't have mobile data connected! So when you are at the welcome screen after first boot, you have to be quick and push next before the mobile data connects. Then you get the chance to turn on WIFI!
------------------------------------------------------------------
R: For all those using mods, patches, kernels and especially themes, make a backup in case you want to return to the original ROM. You need a BackUp.
My suggestion is to install the ROM, set up your account, install the apps you want, then make a back up in recovery, before flashing anything else. After that you can test patches, mods, themes or kernels. This way you can start over without having to set up everything again, if something goes wrong or is not to your liking.
However: When you install the Black Infinitum Theme, and you don't like how it looks like - then go to the CWM Recovery, install zip, choose from SD Card. Navigate to the folder: UniversalFlasher and flash the backup that was created from the Black Infinitum installation routine.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Do I need to flash both framework and extended apps to get the full experience? Or one or the other? And if all, can I flash them all at once?
A: For full experience you certainly need to flash all. And yes you can flash one after the other without a reboot.
------------------------------------------------------------------
R: For all the people using the TWRP Recovery. There is known issue when using this TWRP Recovery and want to apply BM'S Themes or any other Patches. Use the CWM Recovery and you are on safe side.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I am using TWRP, how can I switch to CWM Recovery?
A: Download here in forum the CWM Recovery Touch and flash it.
------------------------------------------------------------------
R: New Feauture: Use flash like a torch by long pressing power button when screen is off.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Isn't there a zip to fully clean the ROM, to get a real clean install?
A: Yes, there is. For a really nice clean Install use ROM-Wiper.zip- thanks to brainmaster (Attn: This is only for the Nexus S!!!)
1) flash ROM-Wiper.zip(Attn: This is only for the Nexus S!!!)
2) flash latest cna ROM
3) reboot phone (don’t flash another kernel before this first boot)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can I use Titanium Backup?
A: Sure, but only backup your own apps&data, which did not come with the ROM. And no system-settings!
Q: Titanium says "no root"!
A: System Setting>Apps>All
Choose SuperUser-thanks to ChainsDD>Clear Data (might have to do a Force stop)
then
choose Titanium Backup>Clear Data
start Titanium (keep in mind just to restore your own apps as described)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How to flash another Kernel? Some write clean nothing, others just dalvik and so on...!
Q: What happened to these instructions on how to flash another kernel?
A: Usually wiping dalvik is enough, for that you can use the dalvik-wiper in this post. And I know there have been discussions how to best install a kernel.
And best is to ask the Kernel Dev, what his suggestions are.
However if you encouter problems, you might do it the long way. It worked for me and don't start asking why and why must I do these extra steps. You must nothing! But it might solve your problem.
1) wipe dalvik
2) wipe cache
4) flash Dalvik-Wiper- thanks to brainmaster
5) reboot RECOVERY
6) format cache
8) flash kernel
9) reboot
10) check this great explanation for Kernel Tweaks (thanks to droidphile)
(I always do it this way. The extra steps don't bother me. Call me extra tidy!)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Are the gapps included?
A: Yes, except the ones you can get from the PlayStore(Market).......
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How can I enable DeepIdle?
A: Use the patch provided by Brainmaster, download it using the Codename Utility App (see above). However, make sure its for the right version, usually the patch follows some short time after the new ROM is being released.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How can I check if DeepIdle is working?
A: You can check it with NSTools from the Market.
------------------------------------------------------------------
R: ROM appears to be laggy!
A: Reflash ROM.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Is memory management supposed to be blank?
A: It's a Kernel dependent options.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Is this ROM based on 4.04?
A: Not yet. Probably already in the next release after 1.6.0.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Where can i access the awesome tweaks/settings in this ROM like the 4 target unlock etc?
A: System Settings>Interface
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q:The deskclock app does not start when my phone is plugged into the dock. How can I fix that?
A: System Settings>Display>Screen Candy
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What does OP stand for?
A: Opening Post
------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What does FC stand for?
A: Forced Close

People who want a permanent change as opposed to running a ROM on top of another and those who like space. SIL is not that technologically advanced but wants a fast phone with no VZ bloatware. The default camera in the latest ICS official update ROCKS! With the times....
Can this be flashed directly over top of 1.6.1 with doing only a wipe of cache and dalvik cache instead of a full data wipe?
Thank you,

Well 3.11 lets you overwrite the stock slot but its not recomended. And i dont have VZ bloatware. Its called delete the preinstall folders. I mean do you see any bloat on the screenshots?
And also this rom wipes your phone but you probably can restore your backup's /data and be fine
Hello, I've just finished installing 1.7 and going to try and flash to 1.7 stripped. Thank you again for the update

SIL just wants to turn it on and be done with it. I don't own any Motorola phones. I have HTC and Samsung. AFAIK there is no Safestrap program for them. I have to use ClockWork and backup the ROM before I replace it with another in case I want to go back.
I like the idea of Safestrap, but I wonder if it possibly causes harm indirectly. What I mean by that is since it gives the option of switching ROMs at will, there is no real pressure on a ROM developer to make a true replacement for the stock ROM. I am not saying your ROM is bad, but if something necessary is not working in any custom ROM then it is no big deal to Safestrap over to another ROM until it is fixed but there may also be no need for and no pressure on the developer of the ROM to quickly fix the problem.
Bootstrap is pretty much like how we have to do it with HTC and Samsung using ClockWork: backup current ROM to SD card, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, format system, wipe Dalvik Cache, and install new ROM from .zip on SD card.
The Safestrap program seems to be pretty much limited to Motorola Droid-type phones. Now by not being a current Motorola owner, I had never heard of Safestrap until recently. I had used Bootstrap before on another phone to switch the ROM over. It works fine. Anyway this is all just my opinion. You may agree or disagree with it. I am glad I own an HTC Vivid. I am not sure what the majority of Android users own, but I would guess it would be Samsung.
So that brings me back to my sister-in-law. A lot of folks don't want to go through a lot of trouble on their phones. They just want them to work and most simply want to use a custom ROM to get rid of the bloatware from their service provider. If I had a Motorola, it would be no big deal for me to use Safestrap, but someone like my SIL; forget about it.
From what I am reading on the Motorola ROMs, it seems like the ones made for Bootstrap work just fine in Safestrap. But the ones made for Safestrap may or may not work with Bootstrap. It seems to me that it would make more sense to make a Motorola ROM for Bootstrap if that is the case.

bootstrap will no longer work on anything newer than ICS. So its going away. Its crap. It does not work the same way... if u mess up you have to restart from the beginning. Cannot cold boot into a menu. Safestrap boots a menu before the rom even boots. Its made by hashcode a main cyanogemod developer. Hes been around to hack almost anything. He even made kexec, custom loaded kernels by the recovery. If your still using bootstrap. U dont grasp how great ss is. Its not slow. It does everything you could want, i got 3gb partition for apps. Not gnna use that much.... and you could still do OTA updates on stock rom if you wanted
Flashed to 1.7 stripped and been good so far. Going to try out WiFi tether, web top and battery drain test
Sent from my IcarusHD BIONIC using xda app-developers app
sorry im a noob if this doesnt post right. This is the best rom i have used so far, tried almost all. i love to break and fix my phone. haha. But this rom is Solid so wanted to say thanks.

I am sure it is great and it is would be an attractive option to me as I liek trying out different ROMs on my HTC Vivid, but my SIL will hate having something pop up whenever she turns her DROID BIONIC on. Trust me; normal users hate extra stuff popping up. Hopefully whoever makes Bootstrap will update it to work with JB ROMs if JB support is an issue.
As I said earlier, I have an HTC and have had Samsung phones in the past. None of them have anything like Safestrap. It is no big deal at all to back up the ROM in ClockWork to an SD card, install a new one, see if you like it or not, and go back to the backed up one if you hate it. I think you don't understand that an option like Safestrap doesn't exist for the non-Motorola phones the majority of us own. In terms of ownership, I would think Samsung would be #1 followed by HTC at #2 with Motorola coming in third. I wish I could find a good link with brand ratings and percentage of ownership.
Anyway, if I owned a Motorola phone that your ROM supported, I would have no problem whatsoever trying your ROM with Safestrap.

Safestrap was made because we have a LOCKED bootloader. If 10 seconds of a menu that you can SKIP is to much for them. Than they dont need a hacked phone. RSD them to stock and tell them deal with it. Its no big deal to back up on motorola neither. Just gotta know what you are doing. And TWRP is alot easier to use than some old green crap, excuse me yellow on ics recovery that hasnt been updated and isnt going to be anymore. I despise it, its no good, its dangerous

It's not about having a HACKED phone; it's about having a CLEAN phone free of bloatware with a better ROM such as yours.
Haha thanks for the patch fix!
I accepted the 1.7.2 ota (awesome app and quite brilliant) booted up and was like what the..?!
It was nicely themed don't get me wrong. But all that flash isn't for me.
Thanks again for the incredible rom! Still the only one I'm running going on 2 months now.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
It seems Waze FC's on this.
I love this rom but my only problem with it is that it does not have group text, when I sent out a text to my 4 buds it sends out 4 seperate texts, and i get 4 seperate replys. I cant find anything in settings to change.
i still get bad sound during calls. is this normal? or have i missed something? thanks in advance

Re: [Rom][Bionic] Icarus Hd 1.8 Remix (aka Stripped) By SPJESTER, Jp1044 And T3T3Droi
Factory reset, wiped and flashed. Everything seems to be working great. I can already tell that the battery use is better. I'm kinda sorta missing Google Now, but it wasn't something that I really relied on for anything important. I'll take longer battery life over Now.

Because its out of date, A Battery Hog with the version it was, Wont be updated EVER for ICS because its all JB now, the main OP for the files (M7) have all been removed for this very reason. Never really used it that much it was cool to look at sure, but Samsungs does just the same maybe with a little less emphasis
Download link not working.
Edit: never mind. I'm an idiot.
Setup Process Crashed
Hey SPJESTER:
I installed it in SS3 slot 1. Factory reset, wiped cache and delvick. I reboot into Icarus HD 1.8. The ROM booted up and got to the setup process. I ticked VZW location services and Google location services. The setup process crashed after that. Now I am left with a black screen and notification bar on top. I cannot get to the home launcher. There is no recent apps to choose. So I pulled battery out, got back into SS3. Wiped factory, cache, and delvick again and reboot again into Icarus. The same issue (setup process crashing) happened. So I am back to the default stock ROM. Does anyone else have problem with installation?

Are you using the latest SafeStrap?
Everything's running great. Minor bug: I updated to 1.8.3 and I still get the message that there's an OTA update to 1.8.3 available. I did it a second time thinking maybe something didn't take, and it's still showing an available update even though it shows that I'm on 1.8.3.

Top notch again Mr SPJester
Flashed this gem last night and no major issues at all. Loving the theme and speed. Although I keep mine at a cool 1.3ghz with I interactive gov and sio scheduler.
Only issue I ran into was with dsp sound not working with play music. I remedied the issue by using the awesomeBeats.apk from an old rom/build and it works as it has with all Icarus builds... flawlessly.
Once again thank you for the hard work!!
