Getting back to 2.3 from ICS

Hey, I wanna to get back to 2.3 from MiniCM9 (nAa) and I don't know If I should first change kernel to standard, or first ROM to 2.3. Can somebody tell me?

First change rom to 2.3 then flash the appropriate kernel.
I don't think it really makes a difference, just that one is slightly less risky than the other.

Kernel then rom, if it's rom 1st then you MIGHT have to reflash the rom anyway

No need for reflash of rom in any circumstances... point is entering flash mode to flash correct kernel is much more doable and likelier to succeed than entering a kernel embedded recovery to flash a rom.
Hence rom first, then kernel.

Hmm... Who to trust?
I'm curently on nAa ICS kernel and his MiniCM9, and want to get back to Achotjan Semc Debrand Engine 2.3 with nAa 11 kernel
From my experience there is no difference at all because the kernel you wanna flash has a recovery and gives you the option to flash your rom. For example when I wanted to revert back to stock without using seus I flashed the rom first and then the kernel because if I did otherwise my device would be softbricked. I hope I made my self clear. The choice is up to you. But I like flashing the kernel first;-)

Ok, so I tried now with kernel first -> that doesn't work, now I'm going to check with rom first
you cant build a house without foundation! flashing the kernel first is only proper way to do this!
1.put 2.3 Rom in SD
2.flash a kernel
3.on 1st boot(at kernel logo)push back button rapidly to enter cwm
4.make a full wipe and install 2.3 rom
5.done

First you need SUT LR 1.8.2. Link to SUT LR which worked for me.
Then you need to download Andro-id V3.3 RC3.
Link to the post
Direct link to the ROM
Flash the ROM with SUT LR. Here is a easy to understand video made by ̶H̶a̶r̶e̶e̶ leoaeries.
Hit thanks to leoaeries H̶a̶r̶e̶e̶ , if the video helped you.
After installation, you will have CWM installed by default
Go ahead and flash ROMs of your choice (be careful you can only install .35 kernel ROM, if you need to try .32 kernel roms you need to downgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.x stock, looks like your stock is .35)
Try ICS CM9, IceColdSandwich or MIUI V4 ROMs, you will like it
Welcome to the Android, the world of unlimited possibilities and great user support.

Problems booting to install Roms

Because some roms are left hanging in the beginning and not booting, my phone is a Huawei U9000 X6, I tested several of the forum but none work properly, now I have Android v2.3.7 and want to do the upgrade to 4.0.
In advance thank you very much.

You gotta remember this ;-
You need kernel 2.6.35.7 for all ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Roms
You need kernel 2.6.32.9 for most GB (Ginger Bread) Roms
Android RC3 runs on 2.6.35.7
I think you should flash RC3 via SUT. Flashing RC3 gives you a stable OS and automatically gives you Clockworkmod so you can boot into recovery and flash any ics rom directly after this or any 2.6.35.7 based GB Rom
For some reason though, on neither kernels, this -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619837 boots for me.
The indicator of wrong kernel is Blue screen on bootup

Flashing RC3 automatically gives you the ics kernel.
You can also use CK Kernel 0.4d in dev threads and flash via cwm but it will not work with your current rom

Yes. That should do the trick.
As an alternative, you can still flash GB stock from your manufacturer (most likely .32 kernel).

You mean TW ics 4.0.4 rom? Anyways as long as you are on this safe kernel, you can flash any rom and it will be safe.

Right but after flashing new rom the kernel will be replaced by the one included in rom.
In KD rom you will get option to choose kernel in aroma but it has Notecore, you can later flash Hydracore (latest) if you want to.
thanks allot man.you helped me

You just need to be on a safe kernel to flash rom, no matter if it is Hydracore or Speedmod or some other. It will be then replaced by the kernel included in ROM and you can always change the kernel as per your preference.

[Q] Newbies On Rom & Root

hi guys im new to roms , kernels and roots. So what i have is a samsung galaxy note which is kinda outdated using gingerbread 2.3.6. Since i saw lots of post about fantastic rom such as the rocketrom , alliancerom and alot more and they also come with JellyBeans.
The main problem i facing is , i would like to know about the facts that after playing with roms what will happen to my phone ? i mean in future will the devices gone wild or maybe dead. I have no idea wth that , so i hope someone enable to give me some advices and consequences of doing these. Any helpful tips will be much appreciate. =)
i wish to change my phone into rocketrom with the latest version of it. so is there any kernels that i can use which is absolutely stable & brickfree.
THANKS FOR ANY HELPFUL TIPS =)
running GB... and want to go to JB
1. root
2. install CWM
3. download Rocket rom on to storage
4. boot into cwm
5. wipe data factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format /system
5. install the rom
do a lot of reading
Playing with roms doesnt make your phone go wild or get bricked until u flash a rom in a wrong way
And you always need to be on a safe kernel before u flash a rom
As u are on gb,all stock gb roms are safe to flash..so root your phone and get cwm
Then do wipes and flash the rom

All gb roms are safe to flash..so just get rooted and flash rocketrom
And rocketrom comes with a safe and brickfree kernel,so its not required to flash another kernel after u flash rocketrom
And i guess there are no other kernels compatible with jb roms other than the philz kernel that comes with the rom

i second that.. use Philz kernel that comes with the rom. Tested i flashed Hydracore and my phone wont boot. had to flash back RRv2 JB.
hydracore v7 does not work with the tw based roms jb as of now. and will not work until an official jb rom is released.
IcIc
btw how bout kernel which fits properly without brick with RocketRom ICS V12 :laugh::laugh:
