I gave it a go. Backed up the .apk file (and .odex file) from the stock ROM for the yahoo finance widget, then placed it into /system/apps after flashing RazoDroid 2.5. Tried installing the .apk file too, but it just gave me the message "application not installed", with no widget available.
In titanium backup if I try via restoring, I get prompted with the message that it is from a non-deodexed package, from a different ROM and may not work. Tried restoring anyways but no luck here either.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks again

I just realized my mistake. Pulled the stock widget file from the deodexed XXLH3 rom instead and it managed to install. However, when I try to open the widget, touchwiz 4.0 'stops unexpectedly'. Does this mean game over?

You don't get a message telling you that you have installed something in system like you do when you install something from the market. After placing the apks in system/app reboot your phone and you should notice they have been installed...

I restarted but it didn't install the apps. I'm trying to explore why it didn't and where else could it effect the system.

I'm not too sure myself but for a start, can you copy the files
Livewallpapers.apk
Livewallpapers.odex
Livewallpaperspicker.apk
Livewallpaperspicker.odex
from your /system/app folder and email them to me ([email protected])/post them here?
you'll probably need root explorer or something similar to do that!
thanks a lot for the effort

I use CM7#20 and i miss some stock apps like pc sync, memo, contact etc. got stock apps somewhere an try to install it, but not succed. is there any way to do this?
edit:
One little question.
Can install apk that belong to stock rom to cm7? IMO, it's all just the same, because before I upgrade to cm7, I do a backup using Titanium and restore it again in cm7 and I can restore almost all of it, just system apps like pc sync, memo, contact, etc (continue on showing "restoring data bla bla bla").

Have you try reflashing the same ROM on top of your current? That usually will put all the system installed apps back.

Did you go into Setting > Applications > and check mark on "Unknown Sources"? If not, it will not let you install the apk file.

You can flash the rom again using PC odin.
Or
Download any rom based on LSZ and extract the popular browser apk from there and push it to the phone.
# but first you need to check of there is pop up browser apk in the phone using TB

Just paste the apk's using root explorer into system apps and don't forget to set the permissions to rw-r-r. Do a reboot

[Q] Get AOSP apks to install in Sense?

I flashed to PAC rom and copied some of the apk files back to data/media/ folder then flashed back into Trickdroid and tried to install some of the apps.
I managed to install the clock app, the gallery app (I wanted the photo widget) and the browser app. But other apps such as Phone.apk had a "problem parsing the package" or something similar when trying to install the apk.
Is there a way to do this or is it impossible for some apps?
Thanks

It's impossible for some apps. Also the best way is to use root explorer and copy them to system/apps and set the correct permissions. Be careful though and create a backup incase you run into issues.
