Hi All
I have a HTC Incredible S (sim free WWE) which is currently running a modified Stock version of ICS.
I would like to revert back to a Stock ROM as I need to send my phone away for repair so it gets repaired under the warranty.
So I would like to change back to S-ON and put the Stock Gingerbread ROM back on withour Root etc.
I have looked on the internet for this but either the guides are for different models or are out of date so some of the install files are outdated or not available anymore.
Please can you guys help me so that I can fully revert back to Stock so I can send my phone away for repair. My Bootloader screen is as below:

You do not have to relock your bootloader to do the upgrade. If you have S-off then you can just follow the instructions for flashing. It will upgrade you hboot, so if you relock before doing it you can't get back to S-off because the revone tool doesn't work on the new hboot.
I looked and that zip has the stock recovery in it so you should delete recovery.img from that zip before flashing to keep your custom recovery.
Won't lose s-off or data.
This is good guide for the firmware flashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43551752&postcount=5082
Info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
PS - Most important thing before doing a firmware flash, DO NOT GO S-ON. Keep S-off until you need to return the device, otherwise you may not be able to get it back on and will have trouble restoring to stock if needed.

So this means the hboot upgrade would not affect my s-off right? Just a little paranoid about losing s-off and bricking my phone.
Also thanks for the advice. I wanted to relock my device and upgrade the firmware. Would have end up doing what I am afraid of.

Correct, if you already have s-off then upgrading the hboot won't turn you s-on. Also since you keep s-off you can downgrade the hboot if needed.
Basically if you have s-off then pretty much nothing is going to take that away, and it will allow you to get out of most jams, so it is pretty hard to brick a device with s-off.
Keep you bootloader unlocked and keep s-off and have fun.
Thanks mate. Your advice is much appreciated.

1- Something is a bit confusing, you have a .163. firmware (3.63.163.1), but with a .401. CID (HTC__203).
2- the reason the ruu didnt work, is because of hboot 1.55, you need to downgrade hboot to 1.44 first, then the ruu should work; no need to relock since you are s-off; check my guide in my signature on how to downgrade hboot first (it's in the first post)
KEEP S-OFF
Ok I did it !
But now I want to lock the boot loader and go to S-ON but my phone isn't recognize in fast boot...

Are you SURE you want to go S-On? I really do not recommend it.
If you do then please follow my guide to the letter.... if you have a questions, then please ask!!
As for fastboot not recognizing phone, best to use a Win7 (or XP or even Ubuntu Live USB) machine; lots of problems with Win8 and especially 8.1
Ok so should I let the bootloader unlocked AND the S-OFF ?
Will it be a problem for the next updates ?

you can set it locked, but it's really not necessary, all the OTAs will work fine even with unlocked bootloader. If you want to set it locked, that's OK too.
However, consider S-Off your "get out of jail" card, if something should ever go wrong, the only thing can save you is S-Off. That's why the S-Off is important, locked or unlocked is minor.
Ok so I will stay this way.
And my phone isn't recognize anymore (I don't know why cause it worked before) in fastboot with my W8.1 so it's fine.
Thanks for your help !

Win8.1 has issues
but once you take the OTA updates to 3.62 it should work again, i remember reading that 8.1 seems not to work older hboots.
feel free to press the thanks button if l i helped , and if all is good, please edit the main thread title to include [SOLVED]

Yes even a RUU that changes the hboot below 1.55 will fail on windows 8.1, the pc will loose connectivity the instant the hboot is downgraded. It then requires another pc to fix it. Or a boot cd as you mentioned.
I run windows 8.1 but i keep a windows 7 box close by just for this reason ( it also comes in handy for other things like Odin - ACMEInstaller - Jungleflasher - Etc )

oh good to know, thanks. didn't think of that one, a RUU getting stuck in the middle would not be nice.
Luckily I dont need it at the moment, but I think I'll look into creating an Ubuntu USB over the weekend, seems to be working better with fastboot, rumrunner, etc.
Tried searching and it doesn't seem like anyone has encountered this problem before. Plugged phone into charger and it started boot looping. The only way it would fully reboot is if I plug it into a PC. But as soon as I unplug, the phone crashes and the boot looping begins again. I've tried different roms with no success.

Would really appreciate any insight into things I could try to fix this. At the very least, I'd like to return to 100% stock so I can use the warranty but I can't seem to S-Off using either rumrunner or firewater.
Does anyone know where I can find a 4.3 stock rom compatible with my device?

That rom installed perfectly but as soon as I pulled out the cable, the phone crashed and went into bootloop again.
I think it's a hardware problem because I was just running stock with no changes when it first started bootlooping.
What else do I need to do to revert everything back to stock so I can use the warranty?

Hello, I have a problem with updating my HTC One, usually I would go to phone's settings, info, updates, it would scan for new software, download it, reboot, install and it's good to go. Recently I rooted my phone and installed TWRP, now when it downloads the update it reboots but enters TWRP recovery but what do I do from there? If I just reboot I still get the update prompt. Thanks for any help.

a little bit of searching, would have told you that you need to have stock recovery for OTAs to work.... (and obviously stock ROM)
Ok just a quick set of questions then so I don't brick my phone if you don't mind..
So to update I go like this:
- flash stock recovery with TWRP (recovery 4.19.401.9.img I found this?)
- go to settings etc and update as usual
- when updated flash TWRP again
- reroot my phone
I this ok? Will I lose any data doing it like this? My phone is just rooted, s-on.
Thanks.

you're getting the update to .11 ?
anyway, yes, get stock recovery 4.19.401.8, available here: http://d-h.st/0Jy thanks to @Guich
flash that, and you should be good to install the OTA, you may loose root along the way, in which case you'll need to re-root after the OTA

Hi,
So I have used a guru reset for my Vodafone AU branded HTC One (M7) as there is no RUU for it. I have gone ahead and "relocked" the bootloader (I'm S-ON BTW), and then attempted to run OTA. All works fine until it finished installing the update after which it just goes into a boot loop. I've attempted this twice, both times wiping everything beforehand and installing stock recovery (obviously) and stock radio. Is there something else I need to do to get the OTA to work properly or is it impossible to run OTA using this guru reset.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not allowed to post links, it was from htc1guru and the pathway is /dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-980-2-zip/
It is the latest OTA available, containing Sense 5.5 and Android 4.4.2. I'm not on stock anymore so I don't know any more specifics.

This was the only stock ROM for Vodafone AU I can find. I originally made a nandroid backup when I first rooted the phone but that has since been accidentally deleted. If you have a more recent version of the stock Vodafone AU ROM that would be much appreciated.
version-main is the most important bit and it's blank :-/ I think older versions of TWRP or CWM had a blank version-main bug? Do you remember what was the last OTA update you took or roughly when? Otherwise, maybe update recovery and see if version-main shows up.
Australian stock unbranded nandroids should also work for you. Go check the Australian users thread for nandroid backups for almost every version (x.x.980.x).
@yatindroid I'm curious about making my own reset ROM. Got any links to info/how to?

Do you have Nandroid backup ?
I have Ubuntu so its easy to open and extract nandroid backup and compression
open nandroid backup extract system and data/preload folder
Take any reset rom replace its system and data folder to your backup folders
replace boot recovery radio files from same version (extract from OTA firmware)
edit aroma config details version etc with notepad++
now zip all files and its ready nothing much require
I think @Joeisgood99 have reset rom 6.xx.980.x version
Aah pretty simple then. Yeah, I have nandroid backups. In fact I supplied the contents of the reset ROM in question in this thread. My main stumbling block was downloading a reset ROM as htc1guru was down the last couple times I thought about doing this.

ok i will send build base zip
@deeevan & @yatindroid.
I'm away from my computer until Friday so can't upload my aroma reset to stock until then.
I never uploaded it coz I haven't had a chance to test it ( deeevan understands why) as 6.11.980.12 is still the latest OTA for Optus Australia, and that's the version my reset will take you back to.
When I get home I'll post a link on the Aussie m7 thread and I'll pm the link to you as well yatindroid in case u need to pass on to others. @deeevan below is the link (go back a page or two,) where @alray walks me through how to make your own aroma reset. All u need is a RUU/OTA of what version u wanna go back to, any old aroma reset .zip and @alray s detailed instructions and your set.

Thanks! 6MB is much nicer to download than 1GB+, especially when I'm going to delete most of that anyway

Sorry for resurrecting an old zombie thread, but after a few days of searching the forums and multiple flashes and resetting of my phone (HTC One m7, Australia Vodafone), this has been the thread closest to my own issue. Like OP Poster acnak, I am trying to reset my phone to stock using Guru Reset (guru_reset_m7_2-24-980-2.zip) and while it works, when it goes to install an OTA when it reboots it gets stick in a boot loop.
I have looked for a more recent reset but can't find one. Can someone point me in the direction of one, or give pointers on how to make one myself from one of the ota I have downloaded... or something equally as easy but obscure that I haven't found it yet.

You can't use that guru reset rom to restore your phone, its way to old, your phone is running the 7.21.980.22 firmware so you would need a 7.21.980.2 or 7.21.980.22 guru reset rom and unfortunately there are no guru reset roms for 7.xx.xxx.x version. You can't make a guru reset rom from an ota update. ota updates are only patches, not the entire system and even if it would be possible to do it, you would have the same problem since the reset rom wouldn't match your firmware version.
Simply flash the 7.21.980.22 RUU using instructions from here
This will reset your phone back to 100% stock.

Many thanks on the link and info. I followed the instructions but got the following fail message
Code:
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAIL12 signature verify fail
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
From my understanding this means there are issues with my bootloader version which is 1.61.0000. Is there anyway to change this, or an alternative file that corresponds with my hboot version?
Cheers
