it depends what gb rom u download. There are wipe as well as non wipe roms. it's better to do a non wipe rom and reset from recovery

Yes you can, but i assume that u r rooted, so the best way is to flash abyss kernel using mobile odin or CWM. just to be 100% safe, and perform a full wipe, then install whatever u want, u may also format system partition to get 100% clean install

Once on gb, mount the drive in usb mass storage mode, manually select all files on internal sd and manually delete.

You are on custom rom so flash GB firmware, so that you can wipe safely after flash (wipe after flash is required in most of the cases).
A little confused here.... If I flash a GB Rom how am I supposed to Wipe without CWM and Root????
when u r on gb rom.. u can reboot into stock recovery and do a data factory reset. it's 100 % safe

Download philz kernel of yr region code n flash it in stock recovery.
This get a safe kernel on yr phone n also rooted.
Then download odin v1.85 n stock rom of yr region.
Once rooted go to cwm n wipe cache n data n then
Get yr phone into download mode n flash stock rom using pc odin.
You don't need cwm to do a wipe, stock recovery will do the job also.

u can but if you are trading ur phone u want to wipe everything and if u install ICS its not 100% safe.. so GB > Wipe > ICS is the best option
I can do that with a Custom GB-Rom too? then CWM > wipe data, and then flashing the original with Odin with the download-mode?
Yes u can .. issue is with stock ICS kernel

Stock roms and installation is in the below thread... you are on rocket rom which has a safe kernel.. no need to flash philz kernel or gb

if you are selling it .. its always best to give it in factory condition and non rooted as this will be safe and it will be on the buyer if he wants to root or upgrade,
just install the GB and do a factory wipe and format the internal storage. and sell it
by the way sad to see u go away form Note

To be safe, do a full wipe WHILE you are on GB. Then update to ICS. The phone should be clean. This way no risk of the brick bug.

Install GotBrickbug-v1.2.apk to check if your Note has the brick bug. Run the app and it should tell you.

Wipe what ever u want when yr on gb rom itself. Once u wipe on gb n update. i think u will ve no need to wipe later
Never wipe or factory reset on ics stock kernel.
Using philz stock safe kernel u can then get rooted n then wipe anything on ics.

I was tracking that using CWM to root on the N7000 was not a good move? There is a note at the top of the Q&A in this section ... says no to CWM.
Thoughts?
yes its not safe to root using CWM.zip file

How to go back to complete stock from rooted custom rom?

I just rooted and installed cm10 on my note and now I'm wondering how to get back to complete stock so I can get OTAs and updates over kies... Anyone know?
thanks

Just flash stock rom with pc Odin, simples.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Will that unroot it too? Or do I not need to unroot to get OTAs and Kies compatibility?

If you flash stock rom, it will unroot and remove cwm also.

Hmm, and I can use Odin to flash a stock ROM over cm10? I've never used Odin before, why cant I just flash the stock ROM over cwm?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
because stock roms doesn't come in the form of cwm installable zips.
Thanks for the advice so far guys, just a few more things:
do I need to go back to a GB rom before flashing a stock ICS ROM via Odin?
I saw in this thread that says it's optional: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
And just to make sure, if I do flash back to a stock ICS ROM via Odin, it will overwrite my current kernal/root right?

You can flash straight to ics but remember you'll then be on unsafe kernel. Do wipes before flashing.
Yes, flashing stock will overwrite kernel.
