[Q] Micro SD card error - Huawei Ideos X6

Hi, i am using my phone with cm10 unofficial ROM. Some days ago my phone got hanged and then switched off, when i restarted it i was not able to access my sd card, when i put it into a card reader and connected to my PC and tried to copy files it threw a Write Protected error,
I searched the internet their it said micro sd card can be locked/unlocked with a adapter. But my SD card got locked by itself and nobody in the market keeps an adapter i searched for it.
So how can i remove the write protection? is there any command i can run through command prompt etc? If anyone has any idea what to do , please share thanks.

Open phone remove battery reinsert SDcard and reboot to se if it helps.

Oh cmon the write protection is only a feature of the adapter itself and has nothing to do with the SD card. SD card doesn't have write protection feature. This most probably means a hardware damage. Try to make low level format using some SD format tool after taking backup. If you are Lucky you will get your card working again otherwise time to claim warranty. Also check for viruses.

I've had those experience on my son's galaxy ace.. using micro sd branded " team" .... it shows error n can't be read.,
It must be hardware error... try put in card reader and see if mini tool partition can read it...
If can, then format it immediately.,
If still can't be done... format low level...
Claim warranty is last step..

I dunno what u mean by "mini tool partition" (i would've posted my card reader's pic but my camera isn't working coz of cm10 kernel) but it can read my card properly and i can copy files from it to my computer so i m not sure if its hardware is broken.... i wish it was formattable through cmd :sigh:

[Q] Trying to run android on 7inch netbook

Hey, Im trying to install and run android x86/arm on a 7 inch cheap netbook from eBay. I know it can be done "watched on youtube" but i follow the tutorials, download file extract the "script" folder to SD card, insert SD card into netbook, power on and it should start installing android.
This does not happen so tried with "unetbootin" to the SD card, inserted into netbook, power on....still nothing and boots straight into Windows CE each time.
Can anyone help me out ?
I'm assuming it doesn't have a DVD slot?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Nope, no cd/dvd drive (i wish) and usb does not support 2.0, so cant use an external dvd drive either.

I think I'd be tempted to get one and put Ubuntu on it.
Well yeah that would work, its for a 11 year old, would they understand ubuntu, and would wifi and facebook is all that really needed to work. And i need it to reconise the sd on boot.

Also are you pressing F12 or del or whatever lets you select the boot drive?

did you try to clean format your sd card before installing?
use a tool called hp usb storage tool, google it, you can find it in softpedia and format the sd card using it, usually solves a lot of boot problems
Tried formating with the tool to FAT32, copied the script for android to SD, nothing booted into CE and so...tried live usb creator to make the SD bootable still nothing boots into CE.
Really annoying

yeah it sounds weird, he got into the setup without pressing anything, hmm, did you try another sd card?
Now that u mention it im using a 8gb micro sd in an SD adapter.
Try a smaller card . Maybe a phone or some other powered device as the "card reader". Just throwing out ideas. GL.
Does the device even recognize the card when powered on normally? Like as a storage device?

Yeah it reconises the SD card when i plug it in to the slot, and can view the files on it.

+1 to that...i think this is the first time someone's got a problem with the SGA affecting SD cards..
After this problem appeard a second time i made a full wipe in recovery and installed a virusprotector since then there was nothing, but between the first and the second time there were two months.
Maybe its due to the apps u might have installed...Let the fone run and see if the virusprotector makes any difference..
Hit thanks if u got helped!
Now there is nothing it runs once a day may it really was a virus and i kille it by making the full wipe and reinstalling the firmware. But thanks for ure wasted time. May i could get the sd cars back and i hope the phone doesnt do this again in future.

what class of your sd card and brnd?
send from my haramjadah Ace using Xda premium.
If you are using SD Card Tweaks such as improving speed then what did you except?
If you are using stock rom without stock then your SD Card is really weird/bad model (or even producent is weak). I'm using for about 6 months 8GB Kingston 4 Class MicroSDHC with lifetime warranty and I don't have any troubles with it.
The SD Card might be defective. I wouldn't blame the phone though, unless you're messing with sdcard cache and such
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
It's very unlikely that a phone can "lock" an SD card. Did you tried connecting it to the computer and setting write permissions. Even if it's lock, it's a software lock, so it should let you format it (as I said, sounds like the SD is as "read only")
I hope it helps
Did you partition/format/wipe it using CWM ?
It seems it cause some problem to some people (like missing apps on the partition or "not writable" mode).
You can format it with PC (be sure that MicroSD Adapter isnt lock too)!
When i turn on my phone then display me this http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach.../5130601b/1/7/7/0/3/6/1/SC20130301-083713.png i dont know what mean Error DF XX?
I have another question.
I format my sd card, then i put some data on it, but when i start the phone, and go to recovery mode, then i dont have any file on it.
I dont have mini sd adapter, can i solve problem without it?
When i make ext 4 in mini partition wizard, then when i restart my phone, dont have any data on it and phone tell me the sd card is damage.
I can't go to CMW beacuse everything is deleted when restart phone.
Any solution?
THERE IS A BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF YOUR SD CARD READER. IT SAYS 'LOCK'. FLIP IT.
Sorry for writing in capitals, just making sure people read this.

broken screen need files and a rom backup

Okay so i was working in the garage and my captivate got bumped off the table and fell flat on its back and webbed out the screen (DAMN IT!).
Lucky i got 2 more sitting as backups.
My problem is its stuck in fast charge and i cant use the screen to get out of it and cant see anything (the screens finally faded so cant tell if its in recovery or not)
Is there any app or method i can use to force it in to mass storage mode or something to extract my files (i don't know all the directory's or id use adb and extract each folder) also there a way to do a rom backup so i don't got to start over from scratch with all my tweaks iv done.
Sorry if theirs a post for this i looked and didn't see anything for my series (didn't check newer models yet but going to after i post)

Camera/Sd card

Hi guys.
A friend gave me this phone and he said that the phone had some problems, namely it wouldn't recognize any kind of sd-card (external). I have updated the phone to ICS and tried to take some photos. What happens here is that the camera doesn't tshow any image, just shows the menus, options etc and says that there is no sd-card inserted.
My question is, the fact that it doesn't show any image through the camera means it's broken or is it because there is no sd-card inserted? I'm thinking of buying a sim card and sd-card slot and assemble it so I can use an sd-card. Replace the old one because it doesn't work.
Also the gallery doesn't open because there's no sd-card. Is this normal?
I'm asking this because I have a galaxy s3 and it works with or without the sd-card, so I'm confused.
Thanks in advance.

Mount the card on pc using an adapter or working phone with mass storage option, then format with standard procedure (on Windows right click on removable disk and format), if doesn't work try to flash again stock JB, you can try another version if your device isn't simlocked to the carrier.

recovery.fstab is a part of the recovery image into kernel, you can't copy-paste it, you can only touch vold.fstab with root access. But this is not your problem because you have flashed stock ROM! As I said earlier: try to flash again a different version of stock JB or try downgrading to see if the problem is resolved.

Try with re-partition of your SD card. Maybe it is in ntfs format, as far I remember we do not have NTFS support out of the box (only with CoCore kernel).

First - what do you want to do? vold.fstab will swap your internal and external memory. And sure it will not help you see your SD card on PC or recovery.
I had problem with non visible SD card in recovery on GB - and solution was to partition it again.
Is not only to swap, but also to set mount points. Yes, I forget about repartition, said to format current partition in fat32 but he said that with an adapter or another device works
