I did do a search but I just wanted to know what people's favorites were so I can try them out. I only saw one extensive thread that was specific for the Gtab and that was only for apps and game that were either working or not working.
I only have a few apps on mine so far. Would love to get some more ideas.
1) Dolphin HD
2) Dropbox
3) Titanium Backup
4) TV Guide Mobile
5) Amazon Appstore
6) Root Explorer

Basically everything from my D1 that doesn't require GPS and compass. And P.S. Angry Birds is actually playable on the G Tab!
I'm running TNT Lite 3.1.4 (so darn stable that i nv bothered upgrading -> kudos to roebeet). I will not include any apps that come w the rom.

Yep, but it doesn't use an "account" like interface, so you have to send all of your requests again. Hopefully they'll fix that with an update.

It wasn't my suggestion but I like firefox more than dolphin hd because of firefox sync and it has several popular addons from the desktop version. It doesn't support flash (yet) so if you want flash use dolphin hd (I just use the default browser when I need flash).

My 10
10 Apps I couldn't live without (but have, admittedly, in the past, before smartphones and tablets)
1. RepliGo Reader - I'm a grad student and read mountains of PDFs daily. This app has made my whole world different.
2. Springpad: Nothing can compare to it. It's free. It's versatile. It's simple with a lot of depth.
3. Drobox (and Titanium Media Sync - together they're great). Whole semester sync'd between my desktop, laptop, and tablet. I don't even take the laptop out anymore!
4. Business Calendar (hands down my favorite calendar app - both for the app and the widget). Stunning.
5. FeedR: people will disagree and I don't care. This is a great feed reader. The layout of the articles makes sense. The widget is phenomenal to have, and not annoying like some others.
6. Aldiko Ebook Reader - Great ebook reader. That's all.
7. mNote - One App that does 1 thing really well - minimalistic cloud text notes. Nice little reminders.
8. Titanium Backup (a swiss army knife for you tablet if used right).
9. QuickOffice: Thank you quick office working directly with and through dropbox, google docs, and my local folders.
I'm never not able to reach my stuff quickly or save my notes some place where I need them.
10. WinAmp (It really whips the llama's ass). You sync with winamp on my PC. I forgot about winamp. Still a great media player!!
Honorable Mentions:
* Miren Browser
* Skyfire Browser
* Just Pictures
* Rock media player
* Firefox Browser
* MobileNoterSE: Because I still need my onenote notebooks even in absence of my laptop for clinical outcome measures, reminders, and notes. Onenote is a powerhouse application. This is only on the list because there isn't anything else that reads my onenotes on a tablet.
I admittedly am not very consistent with my browsers. Miren is my fav, but sometimes firefox or skyfire just do something better. Didn't like dolphin for all the bells and whistles. Opera and OperaMini didn't do it for me either.
Audio: Apollo, Poweramp
The first comes with CyanogenMod, the second can be found con Play Store on it's free 15 days trial.
Vídeo: Reprod. Mx, VLC
These a free and really works fine i preffer the mx
Feedly is a real option for those who need a Google Reader replace.
Total Comander: this app for me is the best file manager that i've ever found. It is free.
For twitter i Really preffer Twicca, in this point are a lot of options, depends on you of wich choosing.
And the last app i love for my tab2 is Airdroid, no need usb cable only a WiFi conection.
Lets discuss about the best apps fot gtab.
Edit1: Helium and adAway are my fav root apps, i'm not sure if helium works fine without root but by now for me is the best backup/restore data app.

I know that price is an object for most people, but I really prefer Solid Explorer over anything else for file managing. If there is any app worth the money, it's Solid Explorer.
Also, I like Carbon for Twitter and Flipboard as my newsreader.
Reddit is fun is also a great app if you're on reddit a lot.
Blackmart, twidroid (yes its still available) tablified market, AccuWeather, touch calendar and exchange by touchdown...the absolute must have is media fire... 10 GBs of free storage space. Of course you need 4shared pro and ROM manager. The list kinda goes on and on... Those are my must haves though... Tab 2 10.1 cyanogen 4.2.2
Tasker is a really need to buy app too...
Good for automation and everything...
The possibilities are endless...

Taptu is amazing app for reading news. The best thing about it is that you can read offline and it load fast. Unlike other nice looking app like Flipboard, Current, Feedly it won't work with slow wifi at Mcdonald and can not read offline.

File managers (as well as the other apps, too) are a matter of personal preferense, IMO... As a loyal user of Total Commander for the past 18 years or so (I grew up on DOS and Norton Commander ), I like it both on Windows and on Android. However, my primary filemanager on my phone and tablet is ES Explorer (TC is a standby, but I am finding myself using it more and more on my tablet, as it's better on a bigger screen). As for Airdroid, there are also multiple apps available for WiFi file transfer. My choice is Software Data Cable - I use it all the time, no need for a USB connection, except for Odin flashing if needed...
One other personal recommendation is PasswdSafe - this has been my password manager on Windows for years, and Android port works beautifully in combination with DropBox file storage. With DropBox, all passwords are synced up between all my devices (three laptops, a phone, and a tablet) at any time.

Misc Root tools: ROM Toolbox and a basic Terminal Emulator
Games: Minecraft PE, Into the Dead, Jetpack Joyride, Fruit Ninja, Rise of the Blobs, Plague Inc., SpeedX 3D

Thanks for that one!
First thing first if i helped you in any way shape or form please thank this thread.
This is all of the apps that I think are a "must have" for anyone with a Galaxy Tab 2 (7 or 10.1)
1. Rom toolbox: *REQUIRES ROOT* This is the best app for any one who likes to mod or customize the look/ feel of their tablet. It has all the features you could want wrapped up into one app.
Features: Install roms and themes like Cyanogen Mod. App and data backup. Root file browser (best file browser in my opinion).Boot logo changer.Build prop editor, app manager which allows you to delete bloatware (stock apps) and much much more!
There is a paid version which is 5 dollars and is well worth it believe me.
Lite version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5qcnVtbXkubGliZXJ0eS50b29sYm94Il0.
2. XDA Premium HD: This is an app that allows you to browse and surf XDA developers without having to use a browser. Also this app is specifically designed for tablets!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quoord.xdapad.activity&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5xdW9vcmQueGRhcGFkLmFjdGl2aXR5Il0.
3. Android Tweaker :*REQUIRES ROOT* This is a must if you really wanna get the most out of your tablet. This app will do everything from increase battery life to make your tab much faster. This app is will also make mods to custom roms too!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.igio90.androidtweaker.free
4. Google Currents: Wanna follow all your favorite news/sports/car articles? This is the app for it. This allows you to follow and read articles for whatever your interests are. So for me I follow things like android central, cnet, motor trend, and many more. Also this app allows you to read articles offline this is very useful. For example your about to leave the house and you have a long car ride. You can go into currents and sync all the latest articles so you can read them offline or without internet connection later. This app is free too!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.currents
5. Nova Launcher: One of the best things about android is the ability to customize your device to the way it suites you. This is a app that replaces the home screen launcher and replaces it with a better more with more customization options. There is a free and paid version.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher
6. Spotify: This is an app that allows to stream music to your mobile device. (There is also a pc version which is awesome) THIS APP IS 10 TIMES BETTER THAN PANDORA! You do have a limited amount of skips, but you can create millions of stations and each station has 6 skips. So for example my favorite band is Avenged Sevenfold. I could create a station and it will play me songs similar to what type of music Avenged Sevenfold plays. This has helped me discover many new bands. Also its free and doesnt require root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.mobile.android.ui
7. Google Drive: If your a student like me this is definitely a must have app. This apps allows you to create documents and spreadsheets. Also it syncs with what you made on the computer. For example say tomorrow I have to read a speech in front of my class as an assignment. I can type the document on the computer and when it comes time to do my speech I read from my tablet instead of from boring old paper. And its even better because your potentially helping the environment.:good:
You can also use this app for cloud storage!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs
8.HD widgets: Widgets are really cool but the stock ones are really boring. This app allows you to change the color and theme of the widgets to what you like. There are tons of widgets to choose from too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cloudtv.hdwidgets
9. Swift Key Tablet Keyboard. The stock keyboard is very boring and hard to use at times. This app replaces the stock keyboard and allows you to change the look and feel of the keyboard to the way you like.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey.tablet.full
Lastly what do you guys think? If you have other apps that you like tell us what they are and why.
I would add android tuner as well.

Es file explorer
If not for a great file explorer also great for connecting to samba shares and streaming media.
Trickster
Kernel settings
Titanium backup
Maybe goes without saying
Busybox
Additional terminal functionality, need this just for ping6 / some apps require it
bVNC
One of the few I found that supports a secure TLS connection

I have used busy box a little bit and it is awesome. I used it for v6 supercharger. And bVNV i will look at. These are all great apps
O and for backups titanium backup is good but I kinda figured everone knew about that.

1. QuickPic. The fastest gallery ever.
2. exDialer. Faster than stock contact/dialer, recommended for stock ROM and CM alike.
3. Trickster Mod. Kernel tuning, adb wireless, frequency for cpu and gpu, governor and io scheduler, tcp congestion, core smartreflex and many other configurable options --- as long as your kernel has them built-in.
4. Android Tuner. Tons of control and tweaks.
5. DashClock widgets. It has so many extensions from other apps, music, weather, agenda, etc.
6. Avast Anti-virus, anti-theft, malware, firewall, sms blocking and many more. If you install a lot of apps and games, try scanning them with avast once in a while. You might be surprised with all the permissions granted to your apps.
7. Waze for GPS crowdbased info
8. Proximity Smart Cover, set to auto on, not auto off. No need to press power button when you open your cover. Or just swipe the proximity sensor.
9. Adbd insecure by chainfire in case you're having trouble obtaining root / adb remount
10. Triangle away for those who love flashing
11. AdAway.
12. CrossBreeder script. Tweaks to keep your tab snappy.
13. RealCalc. Scientific Calculator that looks familiar and non-intimidating
14. Titanium Backup.

quickPic and MxPlayer !
good for multimedia
Puffin- fastest browser I've seen to date (with flash)
Freedom, GK2.61- if you are a gamer
ROM manager- you can't go wrong with an app that installs two different recoveries at a push of the button
Blackmart- if you like to test applications before buying (support your developers)
Touch calendar- a very nice widget (one similar to 4.0.4 stock), easily synchronized with your gmail account.
Odin mobile- easily the most useful app if you are into flashing firmware every now and then.
These aren't of personal preferences either...pretty much a must have if any category applies to you.
Great thread! Didn't know about some of these apps before, thanks!
I will be updating soon!
I will be adding more best have apps to this list soon! :good:
A.I.type Keyboard free
Chrome browser with [MOD] Google Chrome Desktop User Agent
ROM Toolbox Lite (Pro has some extras but i'm going for free apps here)
Quickpic
MX player
Theme chooser themes
cool list
I like
- Sleipnir browser it gives more smart gestures
- Fullscreen is an needful app to give more room on screen by hiding both status & navigation bar
- Astro best file manager for me
Tasker is an awesome app that make your phone smarter. I cant live without it. And it also helps to increase battery life
I'd have to say BS Player is the best video player.
I noticed even VLC had trouble playing certain file extensions. But BS Player hasn't failed me so far. Worth a look.
This is coming from someone who has used and loved VLC on every device for many years now.
Also not sure if this works across the world or if it's just for the UK, but TV Catchup is all the Freeview channels in the UK that you can LiveStream right on to your android Device. It's great!

BS Player has recently been castrated because of a copyright problem, though if you look around you can find a modded copy with the removed parts "restored".
Thought it would be nice to exchange recommendations on apps for the HD and HD+.
My favorites are:
- ES File Explorer (I use it mostly for file xfer between the Nook and PCs on my LAN or in the Cloud - Google Drive for me)
- Text+ (free texting to others on their cell phones or other Text+ users, they actually give you a phone number. Can do voice calls too but not free. I've only had it a short time but seems great so far)
- Ruzzle (a word game, free version is ad supported)
- Words With Friends (but I'm having to run an old version due to problems with the latest on CM 10.1, at least at CM's default of 240 PPI on the HD+)
- Titanium Backup (good for backing up restoring apps and data, needs root, so probably not as useful on Stock)
Sent from my Nook HD+ Running CM 10.1 from emmc
To name a few apps that get the most use are
Plants v Zombies
Broken Sword 2
Plasma Sky
The Bards Tale
FF III, IV
Pettsons Inventions Dlxe
Root Explorer
Andro Zip File Manager
BS Player
Nova Launcher
Here is my list:
Flipboard
Mantano reader
Diceplayer
Box
Root brower
TTpod
I forgot to mention Readability. Its a reader for articles you've marked in your browser to read later. You get a chance to read your articles with nice font and layout, and no ads.

My Favorites Android Apps
1Weather cause you need 1 good weather apps and has good widgets
AdAway speed up browsing by blocking ads (not on Playstore)
Amazon Appstore it installs to any device, unlike Google Play Store
Appy Geek stay current on news
Aviary great photo editor
CameraMX good layout, lots of features
CamScanner replaced my home scanner for email documents and saving receipts digitally
CifsManager download big files directly to you shared hard drive, useful if you don't have memory card slot (nexus 7)
HBO2Go, Netflix, A&E, History Channel, Fios Mobile- Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory, and a 7" tablet 7" from your face is like a 50" LCD TV
ES File Explorer I use back up feature for apps that the Play store won't let me install to my tablet, but will for my phone. BT transfer and install. And search feature to find shared LAN drives, and FTP works good also. This is my favorite app of all.
FBReader- reads almost all book formats, available on almost all device (winCE, Nokia N800, Symbian, Linux, Windows)
Folder Mount Jelly Bean 4.2 won't let me move App/Games to my microSD card, so this is the work around because Dark Knight Rises is 1.81GB
GrooVe IP- free VOIP calls. Verizon minutes run out fast if you are sharing, free calls over 4G, 3G and Wifi if you have data MB left over.
Instructables- the Man version of Pinterest
LCD Density- how tight can you get your DPI, helps minimize scrolling, like having high resolution monitor.
Micro CPU Monitor- system getting laggy? watch your CPU usage
Minecraft keeps family entertained for hours
MX Player hardware acceleration for almost any video and audio type. Like VLC but for Android
NZB Leecher+- download from newsgroups on the go?
Opera and Opera Mini right now its the fastest, has sync but switch to Chrome engine, have to wait and see
QR Droid- bar codes have so much information and also for getting price match
Screencast- record you Android screen, I like to make "How to Videos"
TV Stream- links to websites that stream shows and movies, might not be legal (not on Playstore)
Wifi Analyzer: tweak router antenna for most gain
XBMC - turn almost any HDMI Android device into a media center
:good:
On my blog I have a list of 127 Free Games for Android (all have LINKS to Google Play Store to download). Found list on XDA.

Back of America

Dropcam
Visual voicemail
gStrings
Metronome
Sound meter
Chromecast
Tholitis

A lot of the ones listed here but I wanted to really recommend:
LTE Discovery
Power Menu. Stuff lollipop left out.
What are you using for the power menu? This has been driving me nuts. I've got TWRP's power toggles widget that I'm using, but would prefer an actual power menu like the "Power Off" button.
The apps I would prefer to have in my N6

(Still debating if I want to use greenify. 3gb ram makes me think I don't unless someone can give me a good reason to).
And that's all until exposed works.
So let's hear it.

Gotta use Greenify to hibernate apps! You'd be surprised how much battery you'll save by keeping rouge apps (especially Google apps) from constantly causing wakelocks. Even without Xposed you can still hibernate most of the bigger offenders as long as you're rooted.
As for a few apps..
Plex
Double Tap to wake
Tapatalk Blue
Root Explorer
Terminal Emulator
SwiftKey
Inbox
TiBu
