I have a Galaxy Tab P1000 but not use for a long time (around 3-4 days), I've just turn it on but nothing happened despite of charging or plunging to PC, I think it has exhausted battery. How can I turn it on pls?
It can be a SOD.
Plug it to the wall. press the 3 side buttons (power + 2volume) all together for a few seconds. It may turn into download mode.just press then again until it turns off, and then restart normally.

Press power for 10seconds to ensure complete shutdown. Charge for very long hour, 8hrs maybe.
Should still be fine.

Hi, I just got my Galaxy Note last night.
But I found some error with my phone.
If I "POWER OFF" the phone and plug in the charging cable, then it CAN'T turn on the phone when it was charging.
Even I try to PRESS or HOLD the "POWER BUTTON" for a couple of seconds.
It still CAN'T turn it on !!!!!!
And the screen just show me the "charging indicator" !!
And I try to search with the google. I found some of the threads talking about this problems with the samsung device. (but still can't get the solution)
Anyone can HELP me ??
Or......
Please help to try this......>>>
1. COMPLETELY TURN OFF POWER (NOT turn off the screen)
2. PLUG in the changing cable & charging
3. wait for the "CHARGING indicator" show on the screen
4. try to PRESS or HOLD " POWER BUTTON" to turn on the phone
can you guys turn it on or not ??
PLEASE TRY TRY if who is using SAMSUNG device (especially Galaxy Note) !! Thanks !!
I am out now so not able to test this.. but I guess it happened with me (not sure) when I was flashing my rom, my Note is turned off and it was plugged in USB and charging indicator was on... and i couldn't start the phone coz it was charging... but I really didn't give it any attention... maybe its in purpose or a bug.. but for me it was no big deal... I may try it again to confirm
Most of the Not-Wakeup problems are related to the wifi, tun off the wifi and try again that way.
it is the same with my old Streak. I think it's pretty normal
I wait for the charge battery to show up then I hold the power button for two seconds then screen goes blank and it boots.

when the big battery charge icon shows up, i can turn my device on by holding the power button for 5 seconds or so.
Has always been that for me, cant start it when its charging, dunno why its like that.
send it to samsung and reclaim a new one?
After owning a Galaxy S i9000, an S2 i9100 and now a note I can safely say this is normal behaviour for the Galaxy line, never once been able to turn any of them on properly if already being charged.

yeah me also !
I have to wait a few seconds after the charging icon shows up before it will power on.

My rooted NC with Cyan and Phiremod7 (very stable!!) has just started having a problem today. Left alone, it has turned off by itself. Doesn't turn off when I'm using it. Don't really know how long it is taking to do that, but around 2 - 5 hours probably. Actually takes 5 - 8 seconds of holding power button in to turn back on. Usually just sleeps and a tap of the power button wakes up the screen. That function still works, tho. But what could be causing it to turn off? Could a recovery using Rom Manager be the answer? Rather fix the problem than use recovery

+1 I am having the same problems too
It worked fine through the night but shut off again this morning. Had been browsing xda, pushed the power button to turn screen off, left it for a while, then later tried to turn screen back on by touching power button. Didn't work. As if it was turned off. Had to hold button in for a count to 10 seconds before it booted back up.

Just uninstalled several apps that I installed recently (latest) and turned it off. Turned it back on, and it only took the usual 5 seconds holding the power button to turn on.
Keep you posted as to what it does today

the power button issue is normal...it takes about that long for anyone on any CM version on a Nook Color....as for the powering off after it's sitting there for a while...i do not know what the issue there is, I am running Phiremod 7 as well and i have not had any problems with it since i flashed it which was about 1-2 months ago
Isn't this the sleep of death?
I've been having it pretty routinely now lately with several different rooms including the ics ones.
Starting to wonder if it isn't hw related.

Yes, that definitely sounds like it. The device isn't off, it's just frozen in sleep mode or while trying to wake up and it can't turn the screen back on. Holding the power button is first forcing a hard power-off and then turning the Nook back on
Is hard power off the only solution? It's happened another time since my last posting.
I'm having this same problem. I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 on my Nook Color and it either goes dead or the screen doesn't turn on if I leave it idle anywhere from 1-3 hours. It seems to happen randomly and without warning. It is very frustrating. I even reflashed to a different CM7 nightly build and it still happens. Is there any help for this problem?

I was having the same issue (SOD like symptoms every day or other day). I re-calibrated my battery and haven't had the issue since. Just charge up to 100% and run down to the warning by keeping a video playing and the brightness at 100%. Run it down past the warnings until it shuts off and recharge back to 100%.

Definitely sounds like Sleep of Death (SOD). It happens when you leave wifi on all the time and it goes into deep sleep. Wifi and deep sleep get tangled up and it locks up. It is on but you cannot turn the screen back on. Only solution to get it going again is to turn it fully off and back on. The solution is to apply a patched wifi kernel module to your system. You can get it several places including here:

Suddenly, my tab is not opening without charging. If I disconnected my tab from charging, automatically it shuts down. What is the problem?? Should I change the battery. I'm using Android OS 2.3.4 and my tab is Galaxy Tab(SHW-180S).
Thank you.

That is POWER SAVER MODE, the battery is too WEAK to start the system, u should let it charge about 10 minutes , and try turn it on ....
Poeer off the tab then, let it charge for at least half an hour before trying to boot from battery.
With an empty battery it takes 4 to 5 hours to fully charge a tab.

Are u able to do a HARD RESET? ...Try this method?
This setting erases all data from your device, including
your Google or other email account settings, system and application data and settings, and downloaded applications. After
a reset, you’ll be prompted to set up your device the next time you turn it on.
1. With the device off, press and hold Volume Down and Power.
2. Release the Power button when you see the Samsung logo, but continue to hold Volume Up until the recovery screen appears.
3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu and select wipe data / factory reset. Press Home to choose the selection.
4. Press Volume Up continue.
The Galaxy Tab should then go through the hard reset process.

My nook hd plus seems to be bricked.
My tablet is unable to power on, and even when connected to the USB charger it only have the green light and it does not turn orange even after a day of charging.
It does not seems to be a dead battery as I had charged it externally.
The tablet would become hot when I reconnect my battery to the tablet.
My tablet might had bricked as I tried to speed by installing ram manager, and my tablet was stuck when it was booting up.
After switching my tablet off, it is unable to be turn on.
What can I do to make it boot?
Green is fully charged and orange is when charging so it will not turn orange as long as it is plugged in. Try holding the power button 30 seconds wait 10 seconds and then hold it for 3 more does it turn on then?

This is a long shot. Try holding the power and "n" buttons for three to five minutes. If/when you see the backlight come on, continue to hold both buttons until the backlight goes off again. Then try to power it on normally by pressing just the power switch. What this is supposed to do is trigger the watchdog timer.
The other day, I installed CM on my friend's Tab S and it was working fine for about 4 days, then all of a sudden, he turned it off and a couple hours later, it wouldn't boot. I told him to leave it charging overnight, but that didn't solve it. Its now plugged into a desktop PC via USB and will be left a few hours to see if it does anything. When the power button is held, there is no lights, nothing. Not even a vibration. Would be very grateful if someone helped. Thanks.

My device has been rooted from day one. But last week I changed the kernel and after 5 days my device didn't want to go on.
What about you guys, did you also installed a custom kernel?

Try holding power + volume down + home for twenty seconds while its plugged into a wall wart.
Or just power and volume up
