HI..I've used to be fan of CM ROM's, but as you know Jelly Beans CM ROM's are still nightlies so I'm looking for stable alternative that also comes with stock launcher, lock-screen, theme ,,etc, (just like CM) without being bloated with apps that I might not use, with smoothness being my highest priority..what ROM do you think I should be using?
I'm using MIUI ROM for now, it's nice and smooth but it doesn't use anything from the original Android (caller, launcher, notification area, almost everything!), and that's why I didn't like, it besides it is somewhat bloated.
Thanx in advance..

you can use cm10 , because it's been a while it has been releasing nightlies and it's somehow stable.
but if you need a light rom you can use slim bean .it is really light and smooth
Light aokp v4 is really good.

Hello
I am trying to flash an stable ICS rom for my brothers phone but I really can't find anyone without major bugs. CM9 = to much bugs, Nyx RC 5.0 is just pure ****, Slim ICS (what the **** is wrong with the font?) So can someone recommend me a nice and clean ICS rom that is stable enough for daily use?
I just installed CM9 today and it works pretty good despite the camera and the radio (and now there are alternatives to avoid those bugs too).

CM9 is sluggish as hell so I wouldn't recommend that either. However I don't really understand your font issue with Slim ICS. It does only have 5 system languages but you can install additional fonts to display languages via the "Updater" app included.
In your case as you've eliminated Slim ICS, I guess ICS333 (Team 3xtr3m3) is probably the best one out there. AOSP based with toggles from AOKP and offers a good balance between performance and battery life, with no bugs I can really tell.
Team-Nyx (RC5) yet the most stable rom for me on ics and its pure AOSP

Actually I find cm9 to be the fastest. I've gotten the highest benchmarks compared to slim ics, aokp, etc. Plus I have a bit more trust on cyanogenmod than aokp. Team nyx is pure ics stock but its really slow. Cm9 all the way for me always.

INFINITUM LBR is the most stable ICS from that I have come across. Unfortunately, the development of this from has been discontinued.
Gummy is another rom which is quite stable. Have been using it for over a month now without any issues.

Hi !
Unfortunately, though ICS is extremely good the Custom ICS has it's quirks !
This is because they are developed without source codes from Samsung and no matter how good they are, at a certain point they show their lack of support which they never received from the manufacturer in the first place and therefore after a few days ( or if lucky, weeks) things don't work properly and needs reboots frequently.
Having ICS is like having a short love affair.
Use Gingerbread or change phones.
Sad fact, but true.
Look at the custom ICS camera and look at the original ICS camera. Do you think that we are going to get all the goodies in the SGS ?
Similarly, there are many great features of ICS which the developers cannot give us.
Time to move on.
Take care.

Stable ROM
Hello the most stable ROM was RC4.2 with semaphore 1.1.1
Now I am on RC5 from Team Nyx. It's stable. The only thing that doesn't work is YouTube. Flashing another kernel from Devil (2_0.94) will help.

Hi.
Can you please stop posting these opinions as facts, when the "problems" can easily be fixed. This is a development forum, at least it used to be, and you cannot expect everything to work right out of the box like official stock firmware (even though it does most of the time). It's not like you've been scammed by a car salesman selling you a car without an engine.
No offense intended, but please stop it.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
My apologies.
U r correct . In fact, perhaps I might go back to ICS again cause in reality, Gingerbread is not user friendly....there I go again...
Regards.

i have tried almost all of ics roms but always got back to Elite roms for the stability, smoothnes and battery life
Rom: Elite RC v1.3
Kernel: midnight 202L
Launcher: Apex Launcher with sense4.0 dock
Theme:Sense 4.0 for EliteRom
I can highly recommend ICS333 2.0.1 with Semaphore kernel. Perfectly stable, not one reboot so far. It's fast, simple and works well in every way.
It's all just opinions, try them out

Everybody has his own taste, some people like AOSP, some people like AOKP, some people like CM9 while some people like slim ROM regardless with few bugs ... also there are people here in this forum (like you) who install ROMs incorrectly n find it **** (yes i am pointing to Team Nyx's ROM). When you have tried some of the ROMs, why don't you try all of the ROMs?
p.s. Team Nyx's AOSP is the only ICS ROM I found stable and less battery consuming after slim, this is only my point of view.

Hey guys, wanting to try miui for the first time but which ROM in the development thread is the most "official" version?
I noticed in general there is now a miuiv4 discussion thread and I'd like to stick with an actual miui release rather than a tinkered with custom version

The TMT one seems very interesting...good luck
I tried, all the 3 versions
1) tmt - good rom, has too much on it, if youlike touchwiz ux, do go for it.. felt its a bit laggy
2) vengeance based of .22 leak : great rom, very smooth and fast .. but has some major bugs like using some apps hang the entire rom at times, gallery doesnt work etc.
3) official miui leak .22 : i found this the most stable of all. clean, pure miui experience. might have slight bugs. running on 240 dpi, themes work great. it also did an ota update to .29, brilliant..

im running cm7.2.0 and it gets kinda laggy sometimes when i scroll up and down in my app drawer..
is there a kernel besides the stock cm7 kernel that i should flash?
I noticed a significant increase in the speed of the OS when I switched from CM 7.2 to ICS & JB. Most JB Roms still have a few bugs, but if you like cyanogenmod, SpazeDog ICS is based off CM9, is fast, and pretty stable.
If you would like to try an ICS update but are unsure how, I wrote an update tutorial that has all the links for everything you will need in it here.
Hope this helps.
I know how it feels on cm7.2 it was so laggy especially using browser. ICS is more stable than jelly bean, but my phone using jb is faster than ICS. If you don't need camera I would recommend upgrading to jb.
Its very easy to install ICS/jb. Do a search on black rose and learn how to partition you system.

I just did your tutorial Yesterday ) thanks alot again! ICS is really fast and stable, running texaics. is spazedog's ics rom better though? the only downside is the camcorder.. its not big deal but kinda sucks that we don't have the option of recording good vids. is there no fix for this?

thanks just upgraded to ics, its way faster then the cm7 rom. feels way different going thru the UI. i'll just wait till the JB roms are less buggy. btw which JB rom would you recommend?
I've seen some success using V6 Supercharger script (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16635544#post16635544). Its a script that is compatible with ICS and JB. Check it out. :good:

The roms are both good, just different - its a matter of personal preference. You should try them both and see which you like better. I prefer spazedog because it is more like CM which I have used for a long time. Also, I like the disk manager (spazedog version of app2sd script) as it is totally automatic - it moves apps to your ext partition in the background... you never have to mess with moving stuff around manually or running a script.
I do not know of a fix for the video recording issue.

Sorry if this has been said, but you could try using something like SetCPU from the Play store. I think it's only $1.
What is best performanse rom?
It really depends what you want - for ICS probably Texasice, Sense 3 - Runny Rom for N1, etc.
Stock android usually is quicker (something like CM but if you want a different look there're always themes)

I'm currently running reider123s CM10.1 rom, it runs smoothly and most features work. I'm a fan of either sense or stock - had the Runny rom yet it was very slow, CM10 is great for what I use my phone for

Well, it's jelly bean so it will be a bit different. Depends on what you run.
Might be worth looking at reider123s paranoid android - very popular and quite smooth from what I hear

Hello, it come down to personal preference.
Why you might asked? some person are light android users (like myself), some are flash-holics.
I've tried a few the best so far is 2.3.7 CM 7.2. works flawlessly.
Currently using 4.2.2 CM 10.1 and i must say i'm still in blown away with the performance.
Thanks for this thread.

using the [ROM][DEV][JB][4.2.2] AOKP for Passion Unofficial Nightlies
I'm using the [ROM][DEV][JB][4.2.2] AOKP for Passion Unofficial Nightlies
even donated to the developer, impressive.
can even be patched using autopatcher to support pdroid,
The GB ROMS such as CM 7.2, MIUI 2.3.30 are very smooth and stable. MIUI especially offers a degree of customization not seen in most other ROMs. However, my only problem with these ROMs is the slow Write speed they've got - copying files to the SD card is a drag even if you have a class 10.
The JB ROMs (esp. 4.2.1 VJ) are very smooth and almost stable ( Camcorder, Tethering, Faulty 3G), but they kernel is optimized for faster transfers. If you can live with the niggles I mentioned, JB ROMs are the way to go.
Hi. Im trying many roms on our n7000 but ewery time i find any bugs and FC. Thats why I wana ask u guys about trully stable rom. Now im using miui veganence. what do you think about CarbonRom? i just flashed it but got some errors, but i want to figure it out cause i think this ROM is pretty light and smooth.. (from the review i read)
It's a hit and miss actually IMO. I found CarbonROM to be pretty stable for me. You just have to try i guess, because finding a "truly, perfectly stable" ROM is impossible. Every ROM has its ups and downs, so does with the bugs and stability. Choose which ROM suits you best, and try them for some time. If it crashes/you suddenly hate it etc. then find another ROM or maybe another version of the former ROM. Trust me, It's a bit of pain in the arse at first but it's worth it in the end.
ICS is old and it's not smooth like newer versions like jb and kitkat.
CM10.1 is smooth but drains battery fast.
CM11 is the best but it's buggy (fc, random reboots...etc)
so my advice is to stick to jb 4.1.2 (stock or custom) until we get a stable lollipop (hope this will happen soon)

What makes you believe there will ever be a stable lollipop for the Note?
So much time has passed since the release of KK and AFAIK there is still no stable KK ROM for this device.

because bauner's CM12 even it is still in alpha stage, there is no overheating, graphic glitch, force-close (well, there is few but due to some apps that didn't get updated to fully support android L) and random reboots, and because Lollipop is a "true" update from Google since 2011, so don't expect that Google was playing all these years and only changed the UI and added some fonts there is about 5000 change/update in the SDK so android lollipop for sure will support even low end phones with 512MB of ram and new apps will have a ton of features.
I know that the Exynos motherboard for the SII and N7000 is a real Crap from Samsung but at least those issues related to it, if not fixed they will at least be reduced like the overheat issue still persist but not as bad as in KK.
Or maybe it's Google+Samsung fault which made it impossible to have stable kk for our device
