Hello I am creating this thread to know which rom between these 2 is better, most preferably in terms of battery life, stability , and of course, daily use,
I am tired of staying on the same rom and on Gingerbread (damn, it's an antique now lol) and I wanted to start using an ICS or JB rom, any, as long as it is stable...
I am aware of the SD bug in Korean ICS, I don't mind about it honestly, my games don't need SD and I can manage my SD through a SD adapter.
I've heard that CM10-M(X) is a stable version of CM10 released monthly.
Guys please could you help me decide which one between these 2 roms is better? Or if you know any other rom which is ICS/JB which is better then please tell me xD
Thanks much guys! I love the Ob community
Writing from phone...i'll be fast
CM10 m2 is stable, i use miui based on m2 since 2 days
Battery life is nice
Rom is fast but still, the korean version is faster
Korean rom is more stable and is also better in camera
The only thing that keeps me from using korean is that in our country using orange...you cannot send texts
We dont really use voice search and google now in Mauritius, do we?
If you dont text...go korean
If you do but this one is slighly slower...go jb or miui
Man...banla pou zour toi la
CM10 is better
I think For performance, Go back to some GB. For customizations, use chenlei's AOKP.
Thats all i can say

hello all,
i have recently bought a nexus one and wondering wht i should flash? I like sense but they appearantly are all very slow. I hate miui. I like cm7 but hate its ui. What should i flash?
Sense !
I'm using the lastest sebastiaan's ROM , witha class 10 and it's perfect, the A2SD is AWESOME , no lag in game
If you have a class 10 , install now the seb's ROM , but the dowloading is very long (50 min )
Thanks
PS : you must install 4ext recovery , to use the touch installer !!!!
Depends what you like/use your phone for? I wanted ICS so I went with TexasICS, looks very nice but still has some bugs.
You should wait for stable ICS

The current Cyanogenmod 7.1 is a good choice and fairly stable.

Do apps like whatsapp, angry birds (ftw!) facebook etc. stilll work on ics? I use them very often. Also is ics its gui more user friendly then gingerbread?

Same here, I hate cm7's ADW stuff they use. Stock gingerbread UI is much better compared to ADW.
You can go with BuglessBeast which is mostly stock gingerbread with few additions like over clocking support.
If you want to stay bleeding edge then install MeDroid or TexasIce ICS ROMs. They both have camera and gallery issues, missing hardware acceleration and calendar sync issue.

In my opinion the GUI is nicer in ICS, but it is not yet stable enough for full time use. I haven't tried games like Angry Birds yet, but I suspect they wouldn't run well, because graphics aren't properly fixed in the port yet.
First of all ROM basically is ur choice how u wanna use ur phone.
As u said that u already used miui, y bothering trying any other ROM? It's fast stable and good looking ...
On the other hand sense ROM is also good but u always have the processing issues unless u have a high class SD card.
Bugles beast is a nice suggestion for u to use gingerbread UI with smooth and minimal usage...
PS: since I've started using miui I've not thought about any other ROM
Sent from my Nexus WON on MIUI ;-)
I've practically tried all the ROMs on here, from MIUI to Sense and I've got a few things to say.
MIUI looks like iOS in many ways, but is VERY themable. There are themes for almost anything.
CM7 (mainly samuaz's build) is a very fast and stable ROM. It basically displays the stock android experience with a minimal UI. Highly themable.
Sense: HTC's firmware now ported to the Nexus One. Features a stunning and hefty UI that takes a lot of resources. I've tried all builds here, but mainly Runny AIO and I have to say that's the best build. I love Sense. It is not really recommended to run Sense if you have a class 2 SD card like I do, but I'll upgrade it for a class 6 one tomorrow.
Ice Cream Sandwich/Cyanogenmod 9. Very hyped, but with all rights to it. ICS and/or CM9 are totally awesome ROMs and well worth trying out, despite their flaws. Even with no real hardware acceleration, they're awesome. Use texasice's version if you want near-stock ICS experience with a pinch of evervolv tweaks and use samuaz's build if you want a Cyanogenmod 9 experience. Sometime this year, we'll get an official CM9 build from the Cyanogenmod team, but texasice and samuaz have done an amazing job with porting ICS to us.
Other AOSP builds. These builds also kind of displays the stock android experience, but with user added features and frameworks. Some are based partly on Cyanogenmod 7 while others are based on something else. Bugless Beast and OxygeN1mod are among the best in this category.
You're free to choose what ROM suits you best, but my vote goes to Runny AIO or any of the two ICS builds.
Cheers.

It doesn't unfortunately. I haven't tried to install DT's A2SD on it because as far as I know the kernel used in Bugless doesn't have ext4 support. I might be wrong though ..

You should try also the Ics MeDroid rom, it's really good, with just few bugs and it's quite smooth.
+1 for MeDroid alpha that's actually very stable
Or CM7.x if you want "stable"

Alternative to Enoms Rom
I am still running Enoms Rom on my N1. This is the most stable and battery effecient Rom I have tried. The problem is that its quite old (Froyo). I was thinking of going to ICS but the stability just isnt there yet. I am thinking of going to Gingerbread instead. Can someone here recommend a good Gingerbread Rom similar to Enoms? I am mainly looking for 720p HTC camera, trackball wake and led notification. Stability and battery life are important as well.

Me either, and i can't see that ever changing. It really is the best of all worlds. It's unbelievably smooth, stable and pretty as hell. Core apps are vast improvements over that which are found in other ROMs.
Hi,
i'd like to know what is the best ICS Rom so far for LG O2x...
Last time i installed O2x ROM from NOVA kernel but still having some issues with:
1. Receptions / Signals (Specifically 3G/HSDPA)
2. Still get forced closed on some of the apps..
I am thinking about changing the kernel as well, but not too sure which kernel to use and how to install it (Presumably just download the *.zip and flash it through recovery).
Any suggestion?
p.s Since i am new here, i am unable to reply/post thread on development forum
i'm running novahd and no force closes so far. signal strength is ok even in bad signal areas. everything runs pretty much stable, except noticeable lag in comparison to cm7 or gingerbread whatsoever.
i'm keeping an eye on eaglesblood as it's not cm based (pure aosp) and looks like V20 basebands & rils are working, but didn't tried it yet.
yes, kernel installation goes thru cwm recovery. just choose install zip from sdcard and run it. jarvis kernel seems less stable than novahd kernel; didn't tried harsh and hp kernels yet but will in next few days.
Also running nova HD for me it works very good! Since v1.1 no random shutdowns anymore with nova kernel. Best battery runtime since ever!

I'm trying out the eaglesblood rom and so far i'm finding it good, better reception than I was getting on CM7 and it seems like fewer bugs too. Really enjoying having ICS on my phone at last though

I'm on tamasek's CM7 and I+m loving it, its very stable and quick, no problems whatsoever.
I never tried one of the ICS roms because TBH I never found ICS that appealing, never thought it was anything special so I dont want to change from CM7 until CM9 gets as good as it can. JB, however, I cant wait to try.
Rom Question
Hi @all
i have a question about this 3 Roms. Which one is the best for LG P990??
[ROM][CM9][JUN26-Build79] Domination - Taking Cyanogenmod to the next level

[ROM][CM9][ICS 4.0.4][JUN27] Nova HD Rebuild v1.1.0 | LG UI 3.0 | Highly Customizable

IMO, the current best build
is the Hellfire sandwich port from the SU660
solely based on some of the software tweaks to add speed, its probably the most stable ICS rom you can find for our phone.
best to keep with a good all round stable fast rom like DjangoManouche
but if you like trying out new things work away. ^.^

The good thing about Android is that you can try every ROM whenever you want. It just takes a few minutes. Install those ROMs and see which one best fits on your device.
Remember that every ICS ROM (CM9 and unofficial releases) don't work perfectly. For instance, hardware acceleration does not work on those ROMs.
If you want a more stable ROM you can try the unofficial release from temasek here. It is based on CM 7.2.
Just give each n every one a try and see which one best suits you....never hurts does it?
You should test each rom, so you can find out which fits to your needs.. don't be afraid to test a new rom, just do an nandroid backup and everything will be fine

one last question: what about this rils and baseband if there any problems when i flash one of this roms?

never had problems with that, just flash the matching ril with get ril or lg ril version after you flashed the rom

Looking For Better UI and Apps ROM
I am searching for rom which has complete Look & Feel of Samsung Galaxy S3 & LG Optimus 4x HD.
It should be two different roms. Which has similar Launcher,User Interface, Stock Apps , Similar Calling Messaging features etc.
In short a complete Look & Feel of these type of hugely running phones. Till now all the ICS roms made by devs are based on Stock ICS Roms. It will be better to switch it to these types of modifications also.
Thank You

No I know that but its not complete look and feel i cant get stock apps of these phones through GO Launcher
I wanted a ROM like this which is used in Samsung Galaxy S
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129404 - This ROM has complete look and feel of Samsung Galaxy S2
I flashed NOVA HD, but after some days of regular usage it started lagging. Apps took too long to open.
Later I flashed Indroid Remics, the ROM settings on this ROM is very comprehensive and there are many tweaks included which can be customized. (sticking to it, till I find some thing better)
I like the NOVA HD and XXMrHyde, but stock browser and Dolphin HD crash a lot.
I am using Owain94 Domination 79, browser not crash.
Hellfire runs well. NoHW Acceleration, no HD Record, a no Go for me. Im back on Official cm7.
All runs how it should. On Nova, i had massive lags, especially by heavily multitasking.
Wait for Official ics. Then Ics Based Customs made Sense

Is it possible to have an GB Miui on our device? I know, there are some beta, alpha ICS Miuis, but on GB, we might have functional camera and other things. Im not developer, at least for now, but I love to see this if its possible. Some time ago I have Milestone 2 and Miui 2.3.7 (Port from will5 taken from Wajkui). I hope this discussion isn´t pointless. Thank you for reply..

Not that I want (fast, lite, effective battery management),know about this one but thanks anyway =). Still waiting for some GB or real Miui ICS port will be good too, but I dont find any working link. And maybe it will be better now on new kexec kernel. Someone, anyone =D please make a port. Maybe its bad idea but is it possible to have Froyo on kexec? =D Maybe I was wrong, Im not such as educated about kernels and it only work for newer android than GB.
Update
Get CM7 working on Solana (XT862), safestrap 3.05, time to bring some MIUI love =)). Since I´m not a real Dev do not expect some miracles. And now I´m going to try to port some MIUI GB to our device.
18:14 update: Ok I have successfully ported some CM7 MIUI (based on GB) hybrid, but Its suffer from nonfunctional camera and internal or sd card not mounted right, but I can access it from total commander, Its in strange folder. I must do some research.
Hi there, i'll now post this in the correct forum.
I am planning on turning my wife's old Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830) into a simple gaming device for our 6 year old. It'll be used for nothing else except for games so i'm looking for a rom that will use up as little memory and processing power as possible. It needs to be stable as well so i won't be pestered by him about the phone crashing/freezing.
I know i'll need to root the phone so to save apps onto the SD card as the Ace is very poor for storage.
The phone currently has the latest Orange UK rom on it (2.3.6). Would i be as well just keeping this and rooting the phone or is there something much better? I see there are custom ICS and jelly bean roms out for the phone, are these viable or do they slow the phone down so i should stick with gingerbread?
thanks in advance.

ICS & JB for our Phones will be slow. Stick with Gingerbread or try CM7.2 The Ultimatum. Sure you will get the best outta it
suggestion
i would suggest you a good custom gb rom cos ics and jb roms are not good for gaming and moreover mostly i mean 99.9 percent ics and jb roms donot support chainfire 3d and gamechic so games wont run as smooth on ics and jb roms
if you dont have problem with battery life as for starting you can go http://get.cm/?device=cooper and try latest stable release it should work fine with chainfire 3d and gamechic if it doesnt work go for other custom roms like ultimate rom or democracy final
HIT THANKS PLEASE YOU WONT DIE
haha
I suggest you TheUltimatum rom or TheMyth2 here it is www.themythteam.com its fast n uses less internal memory n based on stock. Hit thanx if helpd

I suggest you latest official cyanogenmod 7.2. With a few tricks you can make your Ace faster than light!
I'm currently using CM10.1 but i've tried a lot of roms and there's nothing faster and more stable than CM7.2!
Well, after many different roms that i ve tried my sgs doesnt seem to be as fast and smooth as it was when it was new.Neither GB roms run fast at my device any more.I ve tried almost everything, maybe my galaxy is dying after 4 years of use.
So i am picking miui for my last rom and i ll bury my phone with it (at least it will be preety ).
Can someone suggest me what miui rom to download? v3 v4 v5?Any link for download would be ver helpfull thx!
Nobody answered my post so i did some research and testing alone.
I tried all the v5 roms that i found on net and here are my results.
no1 Gearui ( a little bit outdated but it runs smooth and has some nice tweaks),
no2 gtbluesky's port( the latest port for our phone not so smooth and has some chinese apps)
no3 luciano's miui(lags like hell ,verydissapointed also outdated).
Can someone suggest me v4 roms?I didnt found anywhere a link that works
Guys can someone give me a link with an ics miui version?I have troubles with v5 and i cant find any download page with v4!!!!SOMEONE!!!
Grab a v3, it runs best and has the superior theme engine. I recommend mintberry

ok thx a lot.I ll try that one but i really want to test an ics miui cause ics runs smoother than anything at my phone!
If u want max speed, best u stick with the MIUI gingerbread. Its got all the bells and whistles which you'd expect from any rom in terms of features. Plus it runs great on our old cell's hardware. I know a sound weird, but if u want Miui, grab the gingerbread version.. the last official release of Miui for the i9000 from its official site.
