Hi !
I want to try the old ROM for Droid 4 :
VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01.xml.zip
I have actualy an ICS 4.0.4 Android version.
Is it possible ?
Regards,
Gaƫl
It is not possible to downgrade from ICS to GB. Trying to do so will brick the phone. Any reason why you want to go back to Gingerbread? ICS is, imho, much better. If there is something not working/missing, we might be able to help you get ICS working the way you want it...
Any Hope of a Workaround for US GSM-based Carriers?

I personally would love to downgrade so that I can get my T-Mobile SIM working on my Droid 4. I am currently investigating if it would be feasible to either modify or push a new baseband via AT command or find Verizon's MCN restriction in the radio stack (perhaps in the radio interface layer)? Any suggestions on resolving this would be greatly appreciated. I will be updating my thread on this issue soon.

How do downgrade this ROM? Who do know? Plesase help me.
Have you searched the forums and tried this yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847443?
That is for the Chinese leaked 2.2, but it potentially may work for WWE 2.2.
I had'll tryed. But didn't work.
And the older softroot options batted about this forum are of no use either? Then you may just have to sit tight and wait for someone to find a way. When they do, you can guarantee it'll be on here and noisy.
Or have a poke, and see what you can do manually!
Who can resolve this problem or hack root this ROM? ple help
Why you want to root this rom
This 2.2 rom is smooth. It is the best rom.
I think their didn't need too root this rom

Id seriously doubt that Htc will help you. Why would they when its them that keep changing the H-boot and making it harder to root? You must of know what was going to happen when you went and installed it. There are enough warnings on xda across all devices not to install ota or ruu updates.
I think all you can do now is wait and hope someone will root it.
Okay now since every one is talking about pushing GB on to their S-on devices, i was wondering if when the devs do come out with it a root, it would mostly likely be for devices running Froyo, at least that s what the devs seem to be working on.
So my question , at this point of time, is it advisable for S-ON (Froyo) users to force an update to GB or would it hinder future root access ?

Exactly... My take on it is, ' If it aint broke, don't fix it! ' ... stay put on Froyo.
But i m not a 100% sure .. so devs ... please advise.
P.S : From what i remember from my Legend days .. it depended on whether or not we could downgrade the build and not the actual OS version ...
It's all about personal choice, moving to gb or staying on froyo.
Staying with the stock rom won't do any harm. But moving on to GB, you get some new features and speed in your device. Plus the GB rom is an officiall ROm that is being shipped with Incredible S in australia.

I know that, i ve read through all posts in the DEV section .. but what i m worried about is how would it affect rooting i.e once we update to GB, would rooting not be possible ( Considering a root procedure suddenly was discovered for Froyo S-ON ). It just seems like a very possible, hypothetical scenario.
Rooting is already possible on Gingerbread, the problem is unlocking the NAND. If you upgrade to GB and the method of unlocking the NAND is Froyo only, you can always downgrade using the goldcard method, so updating shouldn't cause any problems in executing future exploits

Super !
Thanks l0st !
GB here i come !
As far as root goes it all depends on the exploit that is released. Because you can downgrade. You just can't downgrade the radio right now. So there's a problem with the OS loading but, you still have access to recovery, hboot, etc.
Attachment shows proof of concept:
Thanks goes to the Devs.

Hello,
I would like to try flashing my rogers captivate to ICS. Nothing fancy just a astable bug free ICS. However I am on 2.3.3. I updated through KIES a while back and now I have no idea how to root my phone or install roms. I am afraid the last time I looked into this everything was very different. I have read the forums but am still a little anxious.
Is it possible to root and then install CWM or something to install roms from my current 2.3.3 version? If so how may I do it?
Any help is greatly appreciated
Christopher
By reading all the stickies and reading some more info, you will be a genius at this stuff by the time you're done...
Yeah thats what I am kinda trying to avoid. I have to hack and read so much already it gets really tiring having to keep up with it all. Add to this work and school and its like info overload. I was hoping there might be an easier way than earning another mini phone phD. Thus far I have determined I have to change my kernel... I think? My phone is unrooted. Stock 2.1 to 2.3.3 KIES.
This Site is mentioned for developing. That being said for the rest of us, we are supposed to learn. The reason it's important to read and understand is you can potentially kill your phone.

This is not the thread you are looking for. // Obi-Wan Kenobi
These threads are for the original Droid 1 and Milestone 1.
ps.: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup before messing around with your phone.
If you have Droid X, you should ask around HERE.
WARNING THIS MAY BRICK UR PHONE,
I need an USA resident that has a contract with ATT for testin, for more info pm PLZ, ASAP
This will only help you guys out.
One tester that has an att contract and is willing to get a warranty replacement if it does not work, is all that is needed. The process was verified on the RAZR and we did something similar on the Atrix2.
If this works you might be able to go back to ICS from JB to root and use something like root keeper to get JB back, just a thought here.
And yes I know most of you do not know me, but I was one of the Devs on the Atrix2, and I am now a free agent so to speak while waiting for the Ubuntu Phone OS to drop, so I am just trying to help a few of you out here, and triloger asked me to take a look at this with him.
There are no guarantees, but this is worth a shot.
As jim said its worth giving a shot
...
..im here
inbox for all the instructions
...
..got it
Thank you testers! I would offer too if my phone were not already on jb.
The DROID RAZR HD XT926 CAN go back to ICS as the secure version did NOT increase in the Jellybean update.
On the Atrix HD, it has increased for the official Jellybean.

Hope lost...

..not yet, im still trying to get that ota
well try out best to get this workin
So you guys are still working on it? Or figuring out a new method?

Both
@TTLayLand
...hey bro talk to triloger for further details
I tried downgrading, to no avail. I upgraded to JellyBean 4.1.1 via OTA and lost root (whoops), so I tried flashing back to ICS 4.0.4. It wouldn't let me, so I decided to reflash ICS a few more times. Nothing bad happened until the last try, which bricked my phone. I'll confirm (for now) that you unfortunately cannot go back to ICS from JB on an AT&T Atrix HD. :C
I dont know if he is even working on a method anymore....
I would donate if I knew he was capable/willing to figure out how to root or roll back the AHD.
