Hardware or software issue? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had the Note since February and its rooted but running stock. A couple days ago I took the phone off the charger and the notification of the battery saying it was charges was still showing. I have tried taking out the battery and rebooting but it's still there. Ever sense then my battery life hasn't been the greatest.I haven't tried a master reset though or getting a new battery. Any ideas what it could be? If this is the wrong section mods please move it. Thanks.

Sorry but it sounds to me like you need a new battery... You may even run the risk of damaging your phone, if you keep using the same battery...
Ps. thats a gut feeling only... I am not a engineer

Clean your usb port with some alcohol, take out your battrey for 5 minutes, insert your battrey and your note is good to go..Ifproblem comes back again try changing your charger

Or probably try to wipe battery stats in the cwm recovery.

typical symptom of a infected USB port. clean it as rishab_s said. use lil alcohol , cloth and toothpik.. it should be fine after a few wipes.. unless the pins are physically damaged

Alright I will try and clean it this afternoon. I sure hope its something small. I'm fine buying another battery if its that also. So some people have had this happen before? Could it be because I'm using a converter for the wall plug in?

I will try wiping the stats, that's an option I've never heard of.
Sent from my Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 using Tapatalk

no its because of moisture and dust collected on the usb connectors

Alright I'll try cleaning the port, and maybe changing the charger. I'll see what happens.
Sent from my Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 using Tapatalk

My brother doesn't wanna clean he is afraid of water damage. So I just took out the battery and trying a different charger.

That's an idea, well the phone no longer is showing the 100% charged indicator. The phone was completely dead and its now showing 50% charged. I am using a new charger now. Do you think it could be the battery?
Sent from my Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 using Tapatalk

so when u plug in the charger its showing charging and when u remove the charger?

It stops charging which is a good sign, I hope! But it stays at 50% so was it really dead to begin with?
Sent from my Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 using Tapatalk

Use the phone till it goes till 5 %and then change again.

So don't charge up to 100% then drain?
Sent from my Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 using Tapatalk

no for now.. drain and charge again

Alright I will do that. What if it dies or the battery decreases in an hour or so like its been doing? Is it the battery then?
Sent from my Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 using Tapatalk

u will be using it for a while right.. keep a watch on the battery... if its reducing too rapidly.. then u will come to know..

Dont panic bro. There's got to be a solution. Maybe your battery problem... Try changing it.
P.S: And, btw, you are in the wrong section.

It's due to wipe battery stats .....flash a another rom and charge full then go to cwm wipe battery stats....after flash the rom you want then charge till the end....then go cwm wipe battery stats
Sent from my E15 using Tapatalk 2
hey this problem also harassed me a lot but i found a soulution
1) go to recovery wipe cache battery stats and dalvik cache
if not solved
2)find out is this is a software problem or rom change the rom or flash the rom again and also change the kernel maybe to stock kernel
this step will definetly solve the problem
if not solved then
3)may be is time to change the charging wire
4 final step
i am using my dads charger its working without any problem
what i see my dad charger that its connector pin is not too old and gets fit into my charging socket very tightly hence evrytime it charges my phone
5 good luck a
or buy some cheap charging kit in which you pull out the battery and charge the pphone
I changed the rom once again.. and kernel.
I went to presto of haka.. and now I can charge! thanks so much for helping!
I was panicked before cause I was going to loose my job because of this.

Strange shut down on Low battery

Hi everybody.. i'm encountering this problem with my HTC one. When I reach the 20 %-9 % range of the battery the one shut down. Try to reboot and shut down again on lock screen.then I'm forceed to put it on charge. Why this strange behavior ? Battery is broken or not calibrated?or a bug? Please help !!
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
If i remember their is a battery calibration file somewhere in the system, if it is deleted it causes the phone to re-calibrate the battery gauge, have you tried a battery re-calibration app from the app store, i think this is what they do.

All stock!
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
If it`s all stock and you dont want to root, all you can do is full charge and then run it till it shuts down a couple of times and hope the battery gauge learns the true battery capacity, if this does not work.
Or you could try charging it to 100% and keep it plugged in, then do a restore to factory defaults while plugged in, then see if that fixes it.
If this does not work, you might have a faulty battery, get a replacement phone.

Found this fix online, see if it works.
Option 2: (No Root) Physical Battery Calibration This option is also very simple, but at the same time, a little more time consuming. If you have a rooted device, Option 1 is definitely the way to go. However, if you don’t know what “root” means, stick with Option 2 and go check out the root section of Android Authority.
Turn your phone on and charge it for 8 hours or more.
Unplug the charger.
Turn your phone off and charge it for one hour.
Unplug the charger.
Turn on the phone and wait 2 minutes.
Turn your phone off and charge it for one hour.
Unplug, turn it on and use as normal. Your battery life should now be a lot better.

Galaxy Note won't turn on. Weird behaiviour.

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note GT-N7000. It was working properly until some day it did not turned on.
When the phone is unplugged form the USB port the phone does nothing, no power, no Download mode, nothing. Even thou I fully charged the battery with an external battery charger... You press power button and nothing shows.
When I plug the USB charger the one sign of life I get is the battery charging icon (image attached)... which shows and then goes blank every 10 seconds. That's all I can get from the phone...
I checked other posts and they say it might be a broken USB port, So i disassembled the phone and removed the USB port flex to check if it might be short circuiting the board; but no luck. When I remove the USB port the phone does nothing.
Any ideas? Could it be the phone has a broken USB port and that the phone can't power without usb port?
I think that you have a full brick. Did you flashed a FW before?

Nope. No flash.
Do you think its a software issue or a hardware one?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I cant say it to 100% beacuse I am not an expert but it looks like a software defekt, and you wrote that you loaded your battery at an external station so your phone must reboot (cause your battery is full) but it doesnt. I think that your completely system is deleted and if you cant switch to recovery or download mode have you an big problem.

Your not getting an emmc hardbrick unless you flashed something in a silly fashion at some point more likely recently than not.
Did you try a different battery or not?
From a cursory review the first thing to try is a new battery and or new cable.
I am not sold yet that this is an issue with the main board or the DC in board.
+1 for new battery.

Jackpot. The battery was broken. Switched battery and phone turned on right away.
The battery was not swollen or anything, just not working properly.
Thank you all for the help.

The batteries have very short life span and very sudden extreme behaviours when they're at the end of their life. Glad you got it sorted.

[Q] Red LED

Guys I need your help
When I am charging my phone by a wall charger I get only the red LED . Whenever I try to turn on my phone the result is just the LED flashing 3 times . My phone was completely discharged for more than 2 weeks. Right now i have been charging it for 24 hours and still no signs for any improvement . Can you tell me what to do ?
Thank you
Undercurrent? I would assume that your battery is damaged. Change the battery and try again. I'm guessing you've tried other chargers and maybe a dock?

Phone getting very very hot while charging

Hey guys,
I replaced my battery with a new Samsung battery for note and it seems to be working fine. But at times, or may be every time i put my phone on charge, it heats up a lot and doesn't charge at all, when i notice, i unplug it, switch it off and charge again and it works.
Any idea what is going wrong? This never happened with the battery. Also this new battery takes almost 4 hours to get fully charged.
