We here at XDA are pretty intelligent, but a far cry from "all-knowing"...so we need info about your device before anyone can diagnose a problem...otherwise we just hafta guess...its helpful if you include this info in your sig (you can do this by clicking "userCP" at the top left of the forum and click "edit signature" on the lefthand side...), as seen in mine:
Device
ROM
Recovery
SPL
Any theme you may be running
anything else you use that you think may be useful in diagnosing problems.
This way we can help you out faster, and without you having to retype this info everytime you post a question...please list these data for us and describe in as much detail as you can what the problem is and how (or how you THINK) it came about. Well try to help you out to the best of our abilities, have you tried doing a SEARCH to see if someone else has already had this problem? it could be the answer you're looking for...

So a guy I know sold a perfect HD7 on ebay and when the guy got it he said it didnt work and sent it back. When my friend got it back he found that it now starts to boot up and fails and reboots only to just start looping. I was wondering if anyone has any idea of how to get it out of the reboot loop. I am android guy so Im not sure how this works or if reboot is the right term or if you can simply flash back to stock or something, but XDA is full of smart people so I figured I would ask.
Thanks!
You are right!
If the phone doesn't boot completely I think the only choice you have is flash the correct stock rom on it.
can you give as a little bit mor information about the phone? (branding, region,...)
can you get into the bootloader menue (hold vol-down when phone powers on)
I had this on my HD7 dont flash the rom before you have tried replacing the battery. I spent days trying this sor t of aproach and nothing worked it just ment i lost my saves on my games once i did get it working.
what would happen in my case was it would show the htc logo then just as it is about to flash the o2 screen it would reboot. I got a test battery for £3 once i found out it was this I replaced it with a nice one.
Can you access the tri-color screen???
Ok so I ordered a new battery and now it boots up and runs great and was about 75% full when I first turned it on so I plugged it into the computer so it could completely charge and I left it for a few hours now I go back and its now at about 25% so basically its not charging for some reason. Also it gets really hot... So from what i can tell the USB port is broken... Also it wont connect to the computer that I can tell. Also yet I can get to the tricolor screen. And now I turned it off and back on and all it does it show the htc screen and then the little black and gray battery icon.
If you have hspal/rspal you may can flash a dft rom....if you want more support in how to flash roms please pm me

Yep I was able to get that and a stock rom installed and it didnt help.
After re flashing, I must of messed something up because when it boots the screen goes fuzzy and blank, you have to press the home button a few times to get the home screen to show, none of the apps work or market place or browser.
I have tried about 4 different versions of the Gingerbread o.s My tab is a sprint, also when the battery icon shows when charging that goes all fuzzy.
Hope some body can help
Thanks

Take another look at this section of forum. Now think, does it look absolutely anything like a section you should be posting a topic in???
Dev forum is for developments, not general discussion or questions and answers, They logically go in, err hmm let me think. "General" and "Q&A".

make sure you set re-partition I think this is the but I messed up before I re-partitioned it with a bad rom
Thanks
Sorry for not explaining better, To be honest I wasn't sure what I did to mess it up I was trying all sorts to make it wifi only from sprint!
Thanks
Hello, all! Needless to say, I have a problem. Here it goes: Today I factory reset my HTC Vivid, Unlocked Bootloader through HTCdev, perm rooted with the JBear All-In-One-Tool, installed CWM with the aforementioned tool, S-Off'd with the JBear tool and wire trick and unlocked my sim. Once all of this was done, I downloaded the app called "Freedom" (Free In-App purchases for AppStore (iOS 5, iOS 6 with JB, OS X) and Google Play), got the error "Freedom cannot be installed on this device," followed the advice to "Download localepicker and select russia or pyschh at the bottom of the app list!!and you are solved with all errors...." It worked and had Freedom working, but my phone was kind of laggy and I powered it down to restart it.
Here comes the problem: I try to power my phone on and nothing happens...nothing at ALL! I tried holding the vol down and power button...nothing. I have a back up battery and tried that with the same result. I removed the battery for about 10 minutes and came back to it, inserted the battery and tapped the power button and the backlight came on to a blank black screen and wont do anything else. I tried to plug it in to the computer via usb and flash the RUU I had on hand (just in case I wanted to quit failing at the wire trick lol) and I got a crazy sound. No the normal "successfully plugged in a usb device" sound, but a 3 tone (2 mid, 1 low) sound that reeked of rejection. I don't know what to do now obviously. I'm here! Any help would be loved and appreciated.
Thank you all in advance,
Mister Gilmore

This sounds like an S-Off issue? I had restarted my phone a couple of times since I Unlocked, rooted, s-off'd, which I did back to back, in that order. Is there any other info I can give that can help me help you guys help me?
This is the oddest problem I've heard off yet.... you might have to send it to HTC cause this sounds like a brick but I'll do some more research just to nd sure

Thank you, I appreciate anything you may or may not be able to find. I really want to avoid the HTC send seeing that it will cost me dearly. Warranty = Over.
Couple questions to out rule some conclusions
1: do you use set CPU or any over clocking app? If you did what were your configurations?
2: when you turn on the phone and the black screen appears can you hear any notification sounds or calls? ( try calling and texting yourself )
3: what ROM are you on? ( can't see from the xda mobile app )
4: how old is your vivid?
5: does the phone turn on using the original battery instead of your backup one?
6: does it charge?
Sent from my PACMAN HTC Raider on the Rogers Wireless Network
OK... I would find a way to charge a battery... I assume they are dead...
CWM does not support charging when the phone is off...
And this Freedom app sound like piracy... you may have gotten screwed up from the place you downloaded that from

1. No CPU or overclocking app.
2. There is no sound at all. I tried calling...no dice.
3. ICS 4.0.3
4. I've had it since November of last year (brand new) but I only used it until December. Then I didn't use it again until this December, so it's only been active only 2 months.
5. Both batteries power on to the backlit black screen, no vibration no sound, no wait. Even after i remove the battery, pressing the power button instantly turns it on. No 3-4 second wait like normal.
6. I can't tell if it's charging. No Orange/green light, but plugging it in turns on the screen (black/backlit).
Thank you so much.

Oh, no siiirr! I do not involve myself with piracy. I found Freedom after Google Play told me I had to repurchase certain items that got wiped out when I unlocked my bootloader. The statement on the page I got it from (I don't want to post the site seeing that I don't know if it would violate XDA policy) says:
"This software is not a Crack. No services or software were damaged. Freedom doesn't interfere in work of Google servers.
Remember: Freedom launcher was made only for legally installed applications. You can use this application to get content, already included in these apps. Please do not pirate Google Play apps."
As far as charging the battery, I had my back up charged fully and my regular batt was about 50%. My girlfriend has a vivid and the batteries work fine in her device.
Sorry to say but I think you are looking at a brick here dunno if its soft or hard though.....best to call up HTC as if you can't even get into bootloader then there isn't anything you can do

OK... try this...
Plug the phone in to the computer...
Wait for the screen backlight...
Hold power and volume down as to boot into boot loader...
I assume you have the HTC drivers installed...
Try to fastboot flash boot boot.img from the ROM you have... ICSS or whatever...
Yes... I know there is nothing on the screen... check the readout on your terminal window...
Hopefully it will flash...
If that works... download twrp from goo.im for the holiday and flash that... see if it comes to life

New information: As I was attempting what you mentioned, instead of the instant "2 mid, 1 low" sound from my computer when I plugged the phone in, it was delayed about 4 seconds. ALSO, WHen I attempted to run the latest RUU WITH the battery, I was told my battery was below 30%. Charge battery and try again. When I attempted the same thing with no battery at all I was told that the device could not be found. Is this a good thing that something remotely recognizes my device? Is there hope still?

Just buckled down and called HTC. I'm Still under Warranty. So I'm gonna send it in Monday. Thanks to you all anyway.
Same issue
I'm having the exact same issue with my Vivid too. My phone has been S-off and all that fun stuff for a long time so I know that has nothing to do with it. Order of my actions leading to it are as followed.
Using TWRP I did a factory reset/wipe then flashed from Paranoid Android 4.1.2 Rom to the PACMAN 4.3 Rom, I have used the Pacman rom briefly before so I don't think its the actual ROM that has anything to do with it.
Instantly upon boot my 32gb sd card became corrupt and unusable right after finishing installation. I reboot my phone to see if it was just a hiccup and would come back. That was it. Now I just get the lit black screen with nothing else. All 3 batteries have a full charge. I keep two fully charged then once the current is drained completely I do a swap to maximize battery life. Let it die 100% followed by an uninterrupted charge. I was really hoping to find an answer here. But to read the phrase "This is a new issue I've never heard of" scares me. I've tasted the android sweet life... I can't go back to a crappy flip phone now. :'( I'll keep looking around and if I catch on to something I'll keep you posted of my findings.
So I just tried plugging into my computer, and I got a driver installation window. (Yes my HTC drivers are installed) Its looking for drivers for a device named "QHSUSB_DLOAD" I have never seen that before, even without HTC drivers.
Qhsusb_dload is the universal sign for bricked... I don't know what causes it... But... The known fix is JTAG.... Very sorry for your loss

Hi to all!
I'm new with android, recently a friend gave me a hero h7300.
I don't know what happened the phone turns on and remains stuck in first screen, the one with android logo, forever sometimes it starts with no screen except the upper status bar.
I've tried to test it in factory mode and it seems everything works.
Please help
Thanks

yes it's a copy, solved by flashing "H7300_ROM_2_3_5_zak3l" and it runs smoothly!
