Little Bit Confused..,?? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

: Hey guys..I am using Gingerdx v29b happily from so many days with nAa 14 kernel without any issue or problem..
I just want to know what is the difference between using a custom rom like Gingerdx v29b with stock kernel or nAa or alfa kernel..is the performance or any other stuff differs as Gingerdx v29b is available with both the option as custom kernel or stock kernel..
Please let me know..thanks in advance

Customs have better performance and you can use more stuff than stock kernels(like swap, tether etc)

custom kernels...they simply kick stock kernels @ss.... they are better at performance... yes ..unlock any features for your phone...
custom kernel gives you KSM, better graphics, etc..
try alfs CM7 for GDX faster than with nAa..

It has been answered a lot of times... there are 2 or 4 topics here with best kernel-rom discussion. Please check them.

BTW THANK ME IF I HELPED YOU
I also use GinderDX with ALFS kernel, but I think I'm going to change it for something more stable.
I recently changed to froyopro v2.2 whit alfs v6 kernel, and i can't believe how fast it is,and stable of course!Reaaly recommend you to try!

I've been told that the nAa kernel is among the fastest... If you run the latest version of MiniCM on top of it you should have good performance. But i won't flash my kernel any time soon, i run MiniCM 2.0.7 on stock kernel now, i bricked the phone twice trying to install the nAa kernel. Cheers!
Try naa kernel it has the most features of all kernel currently for x8.

[Q] Fastest ROM

I want to know what is the fastest gingerbread ROM

Kernels will for sure boost your performance. Its up to you to find the ROM and kernel combination that suits you.

Hit the THANKS button if I helped!!

i think gingerxperia is best...wat do you think ??
Thank you I will try alfas kernel and Ginger Dx
GC rom also fast, or any GC based.... e.g. Fd xperience
First thing you need to realize is that there is no such thing as the fastest rom, You have to find the best one for yourself, For example My best Combo is
GDX V21+ALFS KERNEL+Jimdemdroid tweaks + some tweaks of my own, on the other hand one of my frnd recommend minicm7+NAA Kernel ,, so its just a matter of what you prefer ,, You have to try it on your own,
Alot is saying that GDX is the best
I will try it with Alfas Kernel
thank you guys
I use FroyoPro v2.3 with stock kernel and I have to say it is pretty fast, with a overclock to 748Mhz I get 1943 points on AuTuTu's Benchmark which is the highest I scored on any ROM.
If you want a stable+fast ROM I suggest go for FroyoPro v2.3 with Stock Kernel
I would suggest you try Stornmix 2.2. Everything is smooth even though you use stock kernel.

I will try Ginger Dx for couple days then I will back up it and try others

[Q] Kernel

Hi there. For first sorry for my english, 'cause it sucks.. I have installed GingedDX on my Xperia x8 and I have a question about kernel. Do I can install custom kernel? Or do I need it? If yes, what is the best kernel in your opinion? Thanks for reply.
GingerDX supports 3 kernels: SE stock, LinuxDX and Alfs for GingerDX. 1st and 2nd won't allow You to OC Your CPU. Only Alfs has this feature. On the other hand - if You're not OC fan, than You should try LinuxDX, cause it was created by doixanh [He creates GingerDX as well].
But all of Your doubts may go away if U won't be able to unlock Your bootloader. If this happen - You will be able to use only stock SE kernel
Ok, my phone can have custom kernel. But is it worth it? I think that Alfs for GingerDX + GingerDX should work great. I want OC a bit my phone's processor, because my phone lags very often.. Should it work better than now?
I tried a combination of stock kernel + GingerDX and Alfs + GingerDx. For me the 2nd one gave a boost to my x8, so in Your case it would be probably the same
Stock kernel + GingerDX and Alfs + GingerDx? You mean 2 kernels? And sorry I can't understand this: For me the 2nd one gave a boost to my x8.
My english is weak, sorry Did you mean "jeden z dwóch"?
I tried both combinations - GingerDx + stock kernel, then I flashed ALFS and was using it with GingerDX
Polish: Próbowałem obu kombinacji - GingerDx + stock oraz ALFS + GingerDX. Jak dla mnie drugie połączenie przyspiesza działanie telefonu
Ah, okay, now I understand Okay, thanks then. I will try
@EDIT
My phone is dead now :/ I have unlocked bootloader, I've got message that everything is done. Reboot and phone doesn't work.. Crap :/
dude.. English doesnt Suck.. probably your grammer might . And there are custom kernels like Alfs and nAa, which you can install at your own risk.. Search the forums for further info...

You can't overlock your CPU on stock? So how am I doing it then?
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using xda premium
On ALFS kernel this feature is built-in. On LinuxDX or stock U have to use modules or other stuff.
linuxDx neither with modules..only stock kernel with modules and alfs with built in, you can overclock..flash alfs if you like or dislike oc..if you don't like you don't need to use the oc..so, the best kernel for gingerDx is ALFS KERNEL
sorry my bad english
stock kernel can oc too, use module.

[Q] My Experience with Custom Kernel

I Unlocked My X8 Bootloader and then i flashed a no. of Custom kernel (nAn...Alfs...)
but i found out that the Stock Kernel performance is much better then this Custom kernel..
Can any1 seriously tell me is there any Custom kernel better then the Stock Kernel...????????????????????????????????
nAa kernel and alfs kernel , now the performance depends on which rom are used

Maybe You flashed new kernel (which supports new Adreno libs graphic drivers) with old ROMs, which doesn't have built in Adreno libs. In this case the performace would be low. In other case using a custom kernel will always give a boost
