Hi Guys,
I had to get a warranty replacement for my AT&T tilt.
They sent me a refurb, and I can't get it unlocked. I tried several places that I found on google and ebay, but everyone tells me that they cannot find my IMEI in AT&T's database.
I remember that there used to be (or still is) a peice of software that just calculates the unlock code based on the IMEI. They had this for Nokia phones. Doesn't anyone have something like this? Or is looking it up on a database the only way?
If the database is the only way, can anyone recommend software that will unlock it for me?

Will it work with WM 6.1 and Vista?
My tilt is a refurb, and when I got to review my account, there is a link for my unlock code. I click it and it gives me a code and instructions.
To unblock your SIM card, follow the instructions below on your phone.
AT&T Tilt
Corrosive23

PUK Code : *******
How to Unblock your SIM Card
You'll need your phone in hand to unblock your SIM Card.
1. First, enter the 8-digit PUK code, then press OK/Yes.
Note: Some Motorola phone users will need to enter **05* if "enter PUK" is not already displayed. After entering **05*, then enter the 8-digit PUK code and press OK.
2. Select a new PIN code, then press OK/Yes.
3. Re-enter the PIN code, then press OK/Yes.
4. If the codes were entered successfully, the phone is ready for use.

No, I didn't contact AT&T for that. I didn't think that they readily gave away the code. I tried to use a few online companies that sell codes. But they all told me that "the imei isn't in ATT's database."

You are confused about this. the PUK code is not for unblocking non native SIM cards. It is for unlocking the phone itself from being used. Not "unlocking" as in let me put any sim card in the phone.
I just contacted AT&T for the code, and they were going to give it to me, but they also said that they just don't have the code. He said usually they have the codes, but for my phone they didn't.
So back to my original question.
I looked at the software shown above, but I don't want to reflash my phone with a different ROM. I want to keep the AT&T ROM. Any suggestions?
Tell At&t to open a trouble ticket, they will e-mail htc and htc will give you the code. It happens all the time, especially for refurbs.
I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.

Bingo. It took them about a week to get back to me, but they gave it.
Just tell them you plan on taking a business trip, and require a local number there for your customers to contact you directly, and you cannot see life without your tilt.
i just recently had the same thing, so they sent a claim to Hewlett Packard which they said manufactures the phone and i just got the unlock code 2 days ago. Took 4 days, but i couldnt resist but to unlock it myself. I unlocked it and flashed the newest rom afterwards, it stays unlocked!

HOLY CRAP!!! It worked!!
I contacted AT&T via their online chat and did what you said, and they already emailed me the code today!!!
Awesome! Thank you for your help!!!
got root on the G1 already ,possible unlock the G1 without unlock code
anyone working on it ?
I think there are 3 possible ways:
1:find the unlock flag then rewrite
2:find the IMEI code and change it to a IMEI code that has already got the unlock code
3:find the unlock algorithm
hack the baseband
Did you figure out something? I got my T-Mobile G1 bought off eBay in the brand new packaging with a SIM card. Probably someone stole it from BestBuy or Futureshop, whatever, but I generally don't care where it came from bradn new that cheap
But now NO ONE can provide me with an UNLOCK code for it
I tried several different unlock sites, including the most famous one mentioned here, but no one can actually calculate an unlock code based on my IMEI.
I tried some solutions like Gevey 3G / TurboSIM for G1, but eventually the phone with a "proxy" SIM sort of "sees" my SIM card, but still unable to register to the network.
I was wondering if any cable unlock solution was found for the G1 already.
I got the phone rooted with the latest baseband and with the latest self-made build off the android repository, but cannot figure out how to unSIMlock it now..
find someone with t-mobile, have them activate the phone on their line, then use a site or hopefully they have been with t-mo long enough to add international calling, tell them you require the phone unlocked to use a euro sim and your set
disclaimer: in theory
all of the above except adding a stolen phone to t-mo actually work [might still work, not like your responsible for ebay origins] and t-mo's great customer service will unlock it for you immediately if your account qualifies for international calling,
Call T-Mobile
call Jenny-Craig
[same great assistance, just a lot more humorous]

Sounds crazy, not sure at all if it's been mentioned before but try www.htcunlock.com
They claim to be able to get any code for almost any htc phone including the G1, you can also buy codes in bulk to lower the cost, and its paid through paypal, so its kinda secure
Just my thoughts anyway
Oh and if you are unlocked but have no network, try setting up the APNs in wireless settings
Be prepared to wait several days for an unlock code from tmobile.

yup, been much faster than estimated all 5 times I unlocked my mobiles
I was unlocking the G1 for £3.50 using a site I had access to. I was getting the unlock codes back within an hour too.
PM me if you want your phone done.
No in fact, don't PM me as I don't have the access any more.
The website that can do it is Uniquephones.com

LMFAO...GNR
Hi all, I have a similar experience. We have a G1 here that was never linked to a contract, and T-Mobile refuse to acknowledge its existence. I have tries one unlocking company so far, and they claimed they were unable to get the code. Does this mean I will not be able to get the unlock code for my phone at all?
if its saying that its unable to register on the network then that usually means the sim has been disabled or that the phone has been reported stolen and the IMEI blocked
seems like nobody have a "flash scan" to get our SIMUNLOCK code
Thats the strange thing, it is simply locked to tmobile, a tmobile sim works in the phone, and all is good, but it is locked from other networks (asks for code)
Ok this is odd! I received my hd7 yesterday and immediately set about getting it unlocked once i had done the basic set up. Because of what i have read so far on numereous forums i automatically assumed the phone ould be locked and went to one of the two sites suggested here to purchase my code. Within 5 mins i had my unlock code for the sum of £19 something.
So i then read through the email and go to follow the instructions. The first instruction states that i should put in a SIM card from a different network. So i put in the t-mobile SIM i intend to use with the HD7 and would you believe it ITS UNLOCKED?! The phone tile shows T-Mobile as the network and i check and see if i can make and receive calls...all work fine?
Now my question is: was my hd7 unlocked when i purchased it? (bought online from o2 uk payg) or did the guys fromm the unlock site do some sort of jiggery-pokery that unlocked my phone OTA via my IMEI number?
Didnt O2 and Tmobile recent join forces to some extenet. I think they share the same network now so that may be why.
I bought a PAYG one yesterday and my vodafone simcard didnt work so bought the unlock code.

It can't be unlocked OTA, so it must have been shipped unlocked.
That was too good to be true…after appearing to be unlocked my HD7 has
now decided to lock itself. It is giving me this message:
"This sim card can only be used on specific networks. Contact your customer service centre for the unlock code"
I've attempted 3 different PINS (1210, 0000 and 0000 again) with my T-Mobile SIM card in incorrectly so i guess i now need to get a PUK code. The question is who do i go to get this from T-Mobile (my current netwoork) or O2.

Errmm, That unlock code it's asking you for is not the SIM PIN, it's the unlock code you paid for from the site, I hope you did not guess it incorrect too many times otherwise you can lockout the phone completely.
OH GOD! you were right...that message was basically asking for the unlock code i paid for. Once i punched the code in it accepted it and i appear to be up and running again.
still find it odd that the phone acted like it was unlocked for a brief period before i had unlocked it!
thank you!
Glad it worked, good job you have not tried to guess the code 10 times otherwise you would never have got it unlocked.
Your right though, seems odd that it let you use it the first time, it's all software based anyway so guess it was a glitch.

Hello
Please tell me which is the most reliable online network unlocking site for an ee uk z3compact ?
I've been to shops but they ask like £ 45/60 for unlocking and they do it the same by using internet sites ....
I also found some sites but not sure if they are trustworthy.
Thanks!

Do you mean
unlock=root or
unlock=boot loader or
unlock=phone from a specific carrier?
He said network unlocking.I think he means unlock phone from specific carrier.
The last one unlock=phone from a specific carrier and the carrier is EE uk !
Can you post a screen what are the values for your SIM LOCK?
in the phone dialer enter *#*#7378423#*#* (SERVICE)
Enter Service info > SIM Lock
Network is 5 so is not blocked , the unlock counter is not 0 !
I've been reading up a little on this, and found out that there not so many tools to force unlock the phone without an unlock code.
Also reports of using tools for HTC/Samsung (could not find any Sony related) not correctly (or sometimes correctly) resulted in a HARD bricked device.
So I suggest to get that unlock code, so you'll be on the safe side.
Yes I'm asking what is the best site to buy the unlock code ???
Which is the most used by the xda developers users ......?
I never used it, hence I always buying already unlocked phones.
My friend used this site to unlock his T-mobile GS4 and it worked.
Ok thanks , unfortunately I've used another site ... hope is ok , I will let you know.
Today I got the unlock code , all worked 100%.

Where from. And hhow much please?
Recently, as I have been lurking in multiple forums, I have been seeing multiple posts that owners of the Pixel 4 XL that they bought from AT&T, once the device has been paid off and the Sim lock was removed, the allow oem unlocking option was no longer greyed out. Can anyone confirm this is the case ? And can anyone also tell me how the unlocking process went after the device was unlocked through the AT&T unlocking portal considering there is no official unlock code that you need to enter in order to use a new SIM card ? Was there an OTA update that was pushed to the device that allowed the device to be unlocked ? Thanks in advance for the information.
have you been able to unlock yours too?
I am looking for a third-part sim unlock service for Google Pixel 4 XL AT&T. Search everywhere. I've not seen any reliable service.
Have you found any reliable service? I want to sim unlock a Verizon pixel 4...
There are no third party unlock sites for the Pixel 4 or 4, or 4 XL. You have to go through the carrier you got it from. And if you got it from Verizon, you may not be able bootloader unlock after the SIM is unlocked. T-Mobile and AT&T, once the device is SIM unlocked through the server, the device is bootloader unlocked.

Thanks for the response, I do understand that the service provider (AT&T) are the only ones offering the Sim unlock at the moment. I'm juts being optimistic about a third party or XDA providing this service or we will be able to crossflash like the LG series.
The Pixel 4 XL is not like a Samsung device, where you can cross flash. It's a pure, Google phone. The way the bootloader unlock is determined, is based off a IMEI check through Google's own servers. Not any other carriers. What has transpired is that Google has baked carrier locking directly into Android 10, and each carrier maintains a database of Google IMEI numbers. Once the device is paid off, the carrier moves the IMEI to Google's own unlocked database, the device receives a over the air update from Google, then when the device is rebooted the bootloader and SIM card lock will be removed. This has been confirmed in AT&T and T-Mobile at the moment. No word on Sprint yet, however the Verizon version seems to be locked permanently, unless you got lucky and got a unlocked one immediately upon purchase.

i can confirm, ATT unlocked my GP4XL
via ATT unlock request (web portal)
The request takes 24-48 hours as it is sent electronically via ATT to Google
unlike Samsung devices which usually are instant.
Call ATT and ask specifically for TECH SUPPORT (dont waste your time w/any other department)
With the GP4XL being dual SIM,
tell them you would like to utilise the Dual SIM with an additional line you have with another carrier, in which the phone is asking for the unlock code.
*** the phone does NOT have to be paid off ***
--- this is due to the device itself carrying the DUAL SIM hardware, they have to accomodate this feature.
hope this info helps.
Can you confirm that OEM unlocking is not greyed out in Developer settings ? Go to settings>about phone>build number and tap 7 times. Enter your PIN code then back out to settings, then go to system, developer options. Scroll down until you see OEM unlocking. Can you check OEM unlocking ? Or is it greyed out ?

Yes, the option for unlocking is available (see pix)
Your PIXEL 4 XL has (2) IMEI numbers (look on box)
The first IMEI number is registered for network use using a physical SIM card (currently for most)
The second IMEI number is registered using ESIM (electronic SIM)
In order for you to unlock the device via AT&T, you first have to switch over the phone to register using the ESIM.
This is where ATT is sending out a preregistred ESIM card that will be attached to the second IMEI. (the card itself is nothing but a card outlining network registration numbers, etc)
Once you switched from physical SIM to ESIM on ATT, then you can unlock the phone (of course still needing the unlock code) by placing a SIM card from a different carrier in the device.
With the device having TWO IMEI numbers, all carriers MUST oblige to any requests for unlocking for use of the second IMEI. With restrictions of course (like having initial service)
By law they have to. The device shipped with two 'enabled,' IMEI lines for network registration. So much so if they denied this option by law they would have to refund the entire purchase price of the device.
Now if the device shipped with the second IMEI disabled, then thats a different story.

Yep! Setup your network w/ATT using the ESIM number (card) you receive
Once up and running, pop a SIM card from another network in.
Enter code and your FREE to go.
No problem for the info. AT&T shouldnt give you any problems.
though every once in a while you get an agent who has no clue..
For anyone who would like to unlock their ATT Pixel 4XL - I would first try unlocking
online through AT&T web portal. It takes about 2 minutes to go through the request.

Gotcha. So just to be clear, you had to enter an actual unlock code into your ATT Pixel 4 to unlock it? Like when you popped in a SIM from another carrier it asked for a unlock code that you had to manually enter?
And once the device is unlocked, why bother contacting ATT to move the device to ESIM?
Sorry, just wondering if I'm missing something
