Can only download using Wifi - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, this is a really irritating problem, I hope someone can help.
I can no longer download unless I'm using a wifi connection. This applies to the Play Store as well as email attachments and even saving files/images from the web browser. If I switch to a wifi connection it works.
Everything else works fine. I've tried clearing data from the download manager in Settings --> Apps but that doesn't fix it. Kinda run out of ideas.
I'm using a stock Galaxy Note 4.04 (non rooted) on Orange, UK.
Thanks

Playstore-->menu-->settings-->untick download only using wifi..same applies for downloader managers as well.
Pressing the thanks button requires just few seconds and a mind n heart that feels satisfied

I've checked and "Update over Wifi only" is not checked. I've tried checking it and unchecking it again but still no joy.
As for download managers... I am using a stock phone. I don't know how to change any settings in the download manager. All I can do is remove the data when I visit Settings --> Apps.
If I try to download it downloads about 8k and then stops. If I then enable Wifi the download continues normally.

I think you might be onto something here, but I have no idea what I'm looking for.
When I go to Settings --> Mobile Network, --> Access Point Names I'm presented with:
Orange UK internet
Orange Broadband
Orange UK MMS
The first one is selected. If I click on any of them I'm presented with the following:
dl.dropbox.com/u/41858/2012-10-19%2011.32.25.png
dl.dropbox.com/u/41858/2012-10-19%2011.32.29.png
They don't appear to be editable.

May be u need to delete and re enter then. make sure u have setting for the. else contact t the service provider

[Solved]https and ssl not working with edge (gprs)

Hi all,
I'm using my rooted G1 with enom's excellent ROM and it's working brilliantly well.
We don't have 3G in our country yet (hopefully very soon) and so I got myself a gprs/edge connection today.
But I can't login to gmail or gtalk or any site or app that uses https or ssl. Otherwise, I can search on google and visit google maps and xda-developers forum. This is with the android browser. I also tried it with Opera mini but that doesn't connect to anything at all. I presume that's because it connects to opera's server using https.
I couldn't find anything on the net for this problem nor even on the forums. Has anyone else encountered this error? I'll probably try it on my roomie's cell later on to see if it's being firewalled by my provider, but could it be because of some setting I need to change on the phone?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
try clearing the data and cache in the settings under applications then give it a shot then

You mean in the browser->menu->settings->clear cache, cookies, form data? Nope, doesn't help.
All I get for any https site is a blank screen with the address at the top with a black lock symbol to the left of the address.
Forgot to mention ... everything works fine over wifi though.
Found the problem. It's my network provider. Used a sim from another provider and it works fine.

[Q] Ultimate Rom-Market Problems

Hi,
I have a problem with the android store.
When I want to log me in, it needs a long time and then there is aproblem with logging in so I can not get into the store.
My browser is working with 3G but the market not , why?
Any help?
Thanks
are you inputting your details in correctly ?
also try to log in whilst connected to wifi and see if it allows, then we can look further into where the problem is coming from, it may well be your 3g connection.
and also, this may not help, but go under settings > manage applications > market > clear data / clear cache. then reboot and re try
I could connect to the market with the wifi...but now I have an other problem :/
I want to download an app but the market just says starting downloading but doesn`t download the app. Do you have some help for this problem?

Listening to Pandora Radio From Outside USA

Just thought there were some people that wanted to know.
This requires a rooted phone!
Firstly download the Pandora radio apk from a filesharing service or use market-enabler to get access to the American android market and download it from there.
Next, download Orbot from the market. Install it and don't forget to give it root permissions.
Before you press the on button in orbot, go to the app settings and select pandora to run through orbot.
Also check the "transparent proxying" box.
Next, start orbit by pressing the power button on the app to start the service.
Now open Pandora and it should work.
If not, try restarting orbit (kill the task too if it can't start again). Also if it prompts that it isn't available in your country AFTER it has launched, just press the back button and it should work.
For more information/troubleshooting check out the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760472&page=2
I did all the steps you told. When I hit the start button, it turns green n says "Connected to Tor network" but I'm unable to use Pandora. Keeps getting stuck on the initial blue opening screen.
When I check using the check option in the Tor's menu, it gives me "Sorry. You are not using Tor." on my browser. I have set my browser to use Tor (I even tried "Tor Everything" option an rebooting my phone).
p.s. I'm using it over a wi-fi. I hope that isn't an issue.
Update: I checked the ip address it shows is the same as the ip address of my laptop, connected to the same wi-fi.. basically means problem lies with Tor than Pandora..
Appreciate any feedback..
Just wanted to add that Tor is working through the mobile network but on wifi it is giving the above mentioned problem..

I read through it a lot. Couldn't get it to work.
I don't find Proxy settings for WiFi in my system as indicated below.
phone's settings > Wireless & networks > Proxy Setting > set IP to 127.0.0.1 and Port 8118.
May be this option is required to get it to work. Can you enter proxy settings for your WIFI as indicated above.
As when I use the same proxy for mobile data then Orbot works. But I don't wanna use Pandora over my mobile data packet.
Update:
Okay I installed gaeProxy and I can get connected to Tor network now (checked with my browser) but still not able to open Pandora. Maybe I'm not in US proxy with Tor.
I really love Pandora!! But here in Brazil i can't listen anymore... :crying:
Try using Hola Accelerator & Unblocker from the Play Store. You can turn off the acceleration feature. Works fine for me.

[Q] Browser not working on 3G, but FB/Market/Other work

I recently installed MIUI v 1.9.30, and despite my previous experiences with MIUI I really like this one, despite one thing.
I've found that while on 3G (Bell Mobility Canada), I can download from the Market and browse Facebook, but I cannot use the browser (Charming Browser). When attempting to load Google, for example, the loading bar will progress about 10% and then stop there.....
Funny thing is, when using Dolphin Browser the same thing occurs, and it gives a webpage cannot be displayed error. I've tried looking in both browser settings but I can't figure it out, because they work fine on WIFI.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Clear cookies and other browsing history and then retry bud

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it didn't help =/
I went as fat as trying a factory reset and the problem still occurred. I posted asking for help on the miui website but haven't gotten any response yet.
Posting this from my Galaxy on wifi
Ah! It seems a proxy was enabled by default. Although i'malmost certain I changed that setting before, its working now so I won't complain

[Q] Mobile data acting weird [Urgent]

Hi all,
So today the mobile data of my dad's s3 mini started to act weird.
He can access facebook, and some other apps while in data ( the apps are installed through play store... )but the youtube app, or accessing youtube, facebook, google or any other site on the internet browser is impossible.
He can use about 1GB of data and it resets every month, but he only used 600MB over the last 3 months so that can't be the problem.
I tried googling it but haven't seen anything that helped me.
Is there any fix for this, if yes, then please tell me i don't have to put it in default settings
Thanks in advance
-ozi
EDIT: Okay so if you happen to have this problem follow these steps:
Go to your menu and press settings.
Then go to mobile networks, located under the connectivity tab
Now there are some options, one of them is called "access point names", click that
Then you got 1 or more circles which you can check, see which one has a green dot in it, for me it was the first, keep that one in mind
Now hit the menu button and choose "reset to default settings", this will set everything back to default, obviously .
Now choose the circle again which you kept in mind, enable data and ur done!
He just told me that some stuff happened in his pocket but doesnt know what
Also fyi, its on stock, not rooted, not unlocked... Pure stock
Aight I fixed it, see the first post for the fix
