I have FXZ'd down to .902 and done the over the air to .905 and want to use safestrap 1.07 for some gingerbread fun but i cant find the download link ANYWHERE trust me i have been trying for days now and would only post if i truly couldn't find it. So any help such as a download link or a file would be greatly appreciated. Than-you in advance
OK, so I had a copy in Titanium, so I reinstalled and copied the APK.

Thanks
Thank you very much i was very worried and thought why is this not available, everyone was using it at one point
Hah, after all the work to get the file, I also found it in my APK folder on my SD card. D'oh!
the app says its running but how do i reboot into recovery?? no spash screen that i've seen...
Safestrap presents the screen on boot up. Power it off, then when you power on you should see the SS boot menu to either go forward or to boot into recovery.

mate, the phone boots normally, no trace of anything new, no menu nothing, the phone is just starting straight forward
when i launch safestrap its says recovery state installed safe system active
really weird. I see the safestrap menu immediately after the "M" logo and BEFORE the Droid logo. Since it says safe side enabled you're not running the stock, you're running a ROM of some sort....
Hmmm.

Help! I'm a newbie at this forum , but I just a droid 3 today , and while trying to get into recovery mode , I got stuck in a continueious boot loop. D:
I Installed the rom manager , got an ics rom , installed clockwork mod etc , then went to reboot into recovery , but it would just do a normal reboot,. I then found a safestrap .apk , which was I guess a modified version of HashCodes. But when I went to reboot , it just got stuck in a boot loop. Any Ideas? I'm trying Hashcodes SBH flash or whatever to reset it to factory settings , but unfortunatly its a 500mb download. So thats gonna be an hour. Any suggestions?
Was Clockworkmod uninstalled/removed before you added Safestrap?

Boot with X+Power, then both volume keys, and wipe data from withing Android Recovery. I'm not a fan of ROM Manager on the D3, it only seems to cause headaches in terms of ROM flashing.
Okay , I'll try that in a second. As SOON as I got finished with the download , the phone died. ( left it in the fastboot mode thinking it was charging...apparently not...D: ) So I will post results in about 20mins. Also , is there any other way to install roms without it?
I've done alot of ROM flashing to windows devices and just older things...and I always liked the simple installers without any problems etc. Anything like that on the Droid 3?
And no , it was installed. Haha , but with the strap , I don't think it installed completely? It kept force closing the installer right before it got to 100% ( I thought it got to 100% ). I didn't know if that was normal , or what. I couldn't open the app after that...
Now , I;m having a different issue. The phone died , and I've had it on the charger for a good 20-30mins , and it won't even go into the bootloop now. It will turn on with a battery with a question mark in it , but it won't do anything else. Help? Haha
You're moving too fast lol
Once you get your battery charged, it'll probably be best to start with a fresh SBF flash (an SBF that is appropriate for your phone, of course).
Then root with one of the many tools mentioned in the development forum
Then install the safestrap app, then run it, and hit the install button. It will say in the safestrap app if the safestrap recovery has been installed (the first line in the app window, I believe)
If safestrap doesn't say that it installed (in that first line), you may have to separately install Busybox installer (its free in the android market). Then you can try to hit the install button in safestrap again.
With safestrap installed, you can restart phone.. you should see the safestrap splashscreen on bootup - hit Menu to go into safestrap recovery.
In safestrap recovery, it will be in non-safe mode (your phone's current stock rom).
Use the volup/voldown button to navigate, and power button to select.
Go to the safe menu, and hit toggle safe zone (or whatever its called)
It will move the necessary stuff and get you into the safe zone. Once that's done, there will be no rom on it yet, so you can then install a custom rom from zip.
Hope this helps

The phone does not charge when it hasn't booted. You're gonna have to buy or jerry-rig a usb battery charger. You can take any old USB cable, strip the wires, and tape the black wire to the (-) terminal on the battery, and tape the red wire to the (+) terminal on the battery. Charge the battery for a maximum of 3 hours.

Thank you Chatoic* I did that last night after I realized the battery didn't charge. Then flashed a new SBH etc. Rooting worked fine , and now I get to the menu just fine on bootup. But now I'm having another issue. I go to Rom Manager , and try to install my AOKP ICS from the SD card , but when It reboots and goes to the menu etc , I don't know what to do to install it. It makes a backup I think? But doesn't install the ROM. Sooo any Ideas? Am I missing a file or something on the sd card? And it says Error partitioning the SD card with a backup etc...
IMO, ROM Manager only causes way more headaches than it fixes, at least on the D3. I would recommend a folder simply called AAAZips (This is what I use, it keeps it at the top for less/no scrolling in Boot/SafeStrap) on your external SD card. Then install either SafeStrap or BootStrap, as you prefer, and reboot into recovery this way to backup/flash/wipe/etc.
Moral of this, IMO, ditch ROM Manager.

Then I just boot into recovery and do what to install the .zip?
And what do I put in the AAAzip folder?
Nevermind I think I got it working. WAY better then rom manager.....
I'm glad it's working. It may not be as nicely polished as ROM Manager, but flashing through CWM/SS from SD card seems to work better.

I'm noticing that the modded safestrap kicks me out of safe mode when flashing and then causes me to bootloop, maybe because of a problem w/the flash related to kicking me out of safe mode or something. Try hashcodes safestrap apk from his blog site and see if you have any more luck with that.
A couple days ago I decided to load the new Safestrap Hashcode linked to. Everything went very well, and I have been running Maverick 4.5 in slot 2 as my daily driver. I was able to get back into Safestrap using the menu button. I also loaded Gummybear ICS into Slot 3, but went back to Maverick.
Yesterday I was going to go back into Safestrap and switch to the Gummybear/slot 3 rom to check it out.
I can't get back into Safestrap at all. I am stuck in the Maverick 4.5 rom.
One thing I did notice and do not understand: When I use Titanium Backup or the Reboot Widget to "Reboot into Recovery", I get a Yellow Triangle with an Exclamation Mark and the Android guy.

That's the stock Droid 3 recovery. Using a reboot recovery will lead to that, and will not allow Safestrap's bootloader to intercept the boot and activate Safestrap recovery.
I haven't tried running Safestrap 3.05 myself, since it's still not official, but I do know that you cannot reboot recovery as you describe to to get into Safestrap for any version of Safestrap.

thats the stock recovery
now. do you still get the boot menu splash page where it asks you to input the menu key or continue?
if so hit the menu many times or hit on the screen the hit menu for recovery image section, as it shoulod also work.
maybe my next question is silly or already tried, but have you tried to try it with the charger disconnected?
some times when my droid 3 is connected, the touch screen gets un responsive o registers more than input
hope this helps
I now have the same problem. I see the splash screen and it vibrates and reacts when I press the menu button, however it does not boot into safestrap v3.05.
From the JB topic it seems more people have this problem!

For those with trouble entering recovery with SS 3.05
The EASIEST and most DEPENDABLE way I've found to boot into the new SS 3.05 is;
Shutdown the phone
Slide open keyboard
Hold M and press the power button to boot the phone (still holding M, release when it boots the next step)
Immediately a menu pops up
Press Volume DOWN to highlight "BP Tools" (tap several times, be quick, if you wait too long, it'll automatically select what is highlighted)
Press Volume UP to select it.
Phone will reboot showing the M logo, then proceed into SS Recovery.

This did not work for me. It just hangs on the Motorola splash screen after choosing BP Tools. Just tried a few moments ago.
Also I haven't had my phone plugged in or charging.

Strange, I have tried it several times... worked each time... maybe try reinstalling safestrap 3.05? Back up what you can of course, stock should not be touched.

Had this problem today after creating a rom slot and flashing a new rom, this worked for me however I had to try it a few times. Once I got into recovery I wiped the rom and rom slot and ss3 is working properly now. Not sure if this was a rom issue or ss3.

When you run the OTA update to 906, it will remove the Safestrap bootstrap and will unroot as well. However, you can reroot with Motofail, then run the Safestrap app again to install recovery, and you slots *should* still be there. Perhaps making a backup of each slot before running the OTA would be smart.

i dont like the word "should"
ok i try to save the files in safetrap and try an OTA. yesterday the ota didn't run but i think i have to wait longer thar it starts the installation than the 10 minutes...
The slots are all stored on the internal storage (the mount point /sdcard) on the phone, so as long as you don't format internal storage, they should stay there.
I should note that I have never tried installing the OTA with safestrap 3.05 installed - I did it with 1.08. Actually, you may want to activate the stock slot, go into the safestrap app and uninstall recovery, and then try running the OTA. It's possible that the OTA will balk with a custom recovery installed - I don't remember, and, like I said, I never tried with Safestrap 3.05 installed.
You can also download the OTA, copy it to an external SD card, and manually run the update from stock recovery. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643521
[edit] Sorry - that link is for an update from 890 to 906. I forgot that you were not on 890. Sorry about that...
I had almost the same problem with my phone, the diference is that mine got stuck on non safe system (Stock ROM). Initializing the phone with th Android Recovery (Turning on with the key "m" pressed down) and choosing BP Tools doesn't worked.

All, please help !!!!
I bought a droid bionic on ebay (seller didn't mention that the software is corrupted) now tired to install ICS using RSD 5.7, it installed correctly, but the phone boots up and gets stuck on the "Droid" screen. Nothing happens from there. I can go to AP boot and/or recovery but can't do anything about it. Please help !!!! Searched the web for two days but no solution. I loaded the following file with RSD, downloaded from different site and tried atleast 5 times.

READ all the OP until you understand it. Any question you can have is probably addressed in the threads. HOB scripts automate most of the things you can screw up.
Good Luck
What happens when you try to use the stock recovery?

The FXZ file, for some reason, won't wipe the /data partition. Your best bet is to boot into Stock Recovery, wipe data, power down. Then boot up into flash mode for RSD Lite. Reflash and then everything should be okay.
The device was probably on Gingerbread and the ICS flash caused the OS to freak out when it saw a /data folder full of Gingerbread things without any sort of preparation laid down.
I could have sworn the FXZ always wipes data...Well, the unmodified FXZ. And it erases internal storage, too....

I apologize first that I am completely confused after reading posts for hours trying to fix my problem. Second, I know enough to get myself into trouble & I've succeeded. I'd been running Icarus 183 on my previous Bionic for months, so after shutting the truck lid on it, I set out to install the same on my replacement. Not realizing that JB had been released is where my ^$&#& happened. Here's the order of what I did which has lead me to a phone that boots to AP mode when you turn it on, or to the menu when holding both volume keys and powering on. If I go thru the power keys and select normal boot, I get the red dot and the screen will stay backlit.... nothing else.
1] New replacement phone: I used the Virtual Machine program to root.... This worked perfectly.
2] Goomanager had reinstalled from my google account, but I don't think I had ever used it.
3] I had installed Icarus thru the safe strap (3.05, I think) on my old phone. I went ahead and installed this again (no problems so far)
4] I started to install Icarus thru safestrap again, but I didn't like partitioning, so I figured I would download and install a rom using GooMgr
5] I believe I chose a rom named "Carbon" from those roms GooMgr stated was compatible... When I ran GooMgr nothing appeared to happen, so I rebooted the phone thinking I would just go ahead and install Icarus using safestrap.
6] When I pressed the button to boot into safestrap, the Carbon rom I had started to load began to run.. (apparently GooMgr could not reboot due to having safestrap installed??)
7] Naturally, the installed failed, giving me the dead android symbol... I removed the battery to reboot, but only AP mode comes up.
8] I am still at this point, having tried RSD Lite 5.7, updated Motorola drivers, and have now tried as who knows how many fxz files to restore it..
9] RSD Lite continues to fail at step 5 , where the phone reports "FAIL"
All I want is the stock JB back, so I can be up an running again.
WOW! Sorry for the problems. I wish I can help but I'm not too familiar with returning your phone back to stock. I do have one piece of advice. Go to YouTube and look up Tomsgt123. His website is rootjunky.com. Really great guy. He responds very quickly. Good luck.

If fxz fails why not try recovery mode flash using sd card?
Just follow the directions for 'manual JB' flash.
http://www.android.gs/update-motorola-droid-bionic-official-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean/
[/COLOR]Use a more recent version of RSD Lite for the latest JB FXZ files. 6.1.5 is the current RSD Lite release version.

You don't need to install the MTK patch included with this release.
UPDATE.. Since I need this phone for my business, I couldn't take the extra time this week to sort it out... Ended up going into a Verizon store & told them what I did (honestly)... They were surprised I was telling the truth & made arrangements for a warranty exchange.. Got the new phone today and up & running on stock rom... I'll be more careful and thanks for the advice above.. I'll make sure I am using the correct software next time.
Thanks for the responses.
So i'm very new to root and i'm kicking myself for doing what I did and i'm really hoping someone can help me out. So long story short in titanium backup I turned all my launchers even the default one into user applications, and now its stuck in an endless boot. And please be noob friendly as possible I almost know nothing about android and barley successfully rooted in the first place. Thanks
(Kindle Fire HD 2012 Model)
Did you install twrp or cwm yet? (Recovery) if not you will probably need a fast boot cable and then reinstall the ROM. Very different routes.

Boot Loop
Hello...Just rooted my KF HD and am now stuck in a boot loop. I was able to obtain root and boot into recovery. I was taking a back up before installing a Jelly Bean ROM. When I tried to take the back up, said there was not enough memory, so I did a backup without data. I did a full wipe, cache and davlik cache and when I tried to install the ROM zip file, got a message it could not open the zip. So, I restored from my back up and now all I get is the regular Kindle FIre logo over and over. I tried to connect via adb, but it does not stay on long enough for me to send any commands, my PC does not recognize it. Any help or suggestions? Just wanted to put a good stable ROM on it so the kids can have sometime more reliable than what Amazon provided. Any help is appreciated.
BTW...if I remember correctly, my serial number started with D025. Thanks.
